Review from Bobbie W.
I love Mendocino Farms! Best place for a good and sometimes healthy sandwich! They're all about using produce from local farms and sustainable farming so you're supporting a good cause when you eat here. I used to frequent the one in dtown but now that I'm on the westside, I've been going to this one all the time. They have great sides, salads and vegan/gluten free options. They also have amazing meat sandwiches for the carnivores too! They cater to all!
I've tried the following:
- vegan shawarma: it is sooo good! i get this almost every time. it's light and refreshing but super filling. it's chickpea shawarma, hummus, tzatziki sauce and veggies all wrapped up and toasted. yummmm
- italian deli sandwich: this sandwich is huge! and not too heavy.
- lemongrass steak banh mi: delicious! great flavor and really filling.
- save drake salad: really good. lots of chicken and beets mixed with other goodies like roasted almonds, dried cranberries and veggies.
The sides and daily salads are always really good too. They have different versions of potato salad and everyone I've tried was delicious. They also have really good soups. I always get their vegan butternut squash soup which is sweet and soothing.
It gets really packed during lunch time but they crank out your order pretty quickly. Waiting in line also helps you decide what you want. There's so many yummy options, sometimes I haven't decided when it's time. Love it here!!! -

"Mendocino Farms" delivers, hands down, some of the best sandwiches in my very own neighborhood. When you read all these wonderful reviews, they are in fact REAL and my fellow Yelpers ain't lying when they say these are tasty!!!!
It took my husband and I a long time for us to come here. The traffic and limited seating in the luxurious, outdoor shopping center scurred us away from this place. Don't let that deter you from coming here or shopping at any of the stores here.
We ordered:
* Prociutto & Roasted Chicken Sandwich http://www.yelp.com/bi... - This pressed and grilled sandwich is made with prosciutto, roasted chicken, fresh mozzarella, crushed honey almonds, pesto, and sliced tomatoes. The filling was remarkably tasty and the texture and flavor of the ciabatta bread were perfect!! This sandwich will "rock your world"!!!
* Traditional Vegan Club http://www.yelp.com/bi... - This contained house made tempeh "bacon", Vegenaise, avocado, tomatoes, onions, and lettuce. This was a tasty attempt at creating a vegan BLT but it certainly was not the best vegan sandwich I have eaten. It will certainly satisfy a herbivore but will in no way, fool a carnivore. Only order this if you are a vegan. If you eat anything, there are way too many tasty options at "Mendocino Farms" from which to choose.
* Potato Salad (spicy) http://www.yelp.com/bi... - This was VERY good traditional potato salad that was made with hot sauce. I do prefer the regular but they ran out and this is what they served that day. It was a very tasty potato salad and it was very delicious in my sandwich. It was a perfect blend of potatoes and other ingredients that was not tart and not too creamy. The texture was perfect!!
* Sodas - The fountain beverages here come in only one size and costs a mere $1.50. The funny part is the EXTREME foaming that took place at the fountain. There was even a "warning" label regarding the foaming due to the cane sugar ingredient. I did not care for the diet cola here which had a black licorice aftertaste.
* Service - AWESOME!! While I stood in line, an employee took my order and requested my name. This is a method to expediate the line to make it as quick as possible. As the line moves, you eventually approach the cashier who asks your name and then asks what you ordered. While you are in line, you will see various salads behind the glass. The employees offer samples and for only $2.95, you can purchased a generous size side order of the said salads. The samples are large and you can try as many as you like.
The prices here are VERY fair considering the quality of food you receive here. The employees here are ALL pleasant and eager to help "confused" customers. I do agree that it is a tad confusing of how to order here but after your first visit, it should be easy peasy. The employees are very efficient and I receieved my order within minutes. Furthermore, there is outdoor seating which makes it an acceptable place to dine with the doggies. I am a fan for sure!! -

Rode my bike down Ballona Creek, got hungry.
Found this spot while randomly riding around and a sandwich seemed better than getting a burger at The Counter.
I wish I went to The Counter.
Ordered a chicken sandwich, which I assumed would be a solid choice. Dry, crumbly bread, not enough dressing, and the chicken was completely uninspiring (no seasoning or flavor at all). I'm hearing that this kurobata pork sandwich is the main reason this place is getting good reviews, but if that is the case then they need to remove the sub-par sandwiches.
The soda machine however gets a special note. I'ts not a coke or Pepsi fountain; all the soda in it is cane-sugar organic soda. I tried the black cherry and cream soda choices and they were admittedly much better in refreshing my palate after the dry, horrible chicken sandwich that did not satisfy my bike hunger. -

My company is moving to MDR, and one of my coworkers decided to pick us all up some sandwiches from this place nearby. I was skeptical of the high-end type hoity toity-seeming menu, but everything I've tried has been amazing and worth the $9-10 per sandwich.
The Kurobata Pork Belly Banh Mi was amazing. It costs 3 times as much as you can get some great banh mi for in the SGV, but this isn't quite the same thing. And a hell of a lot closer. -

I was a bit skeptical to cheat on my favorite sandwich place but decided to give Mendocino Farms an honest go.
There's plenty of outdoor seating but on a Friday at lunchtime there was none available. You feel like you're at an upscale cafeteria, except that you have to order your sandwich as soon as you walk in, not leaving a lot of time for decision-making.
I went with the prosciutto & roasted chicken sandwich and a mixed greens salad with an arnold palmer. The sandwich was shockingly good, yet not quite transcendental. Still, with the pesto and vinegar it was nice and moist. The mixed green salad was really tasty and had lots of dressing so it wasn't dry at all. The arnold palmer was pretty standard. No refills though. :(
There's plenty of seating and coming here closer to noon than 12:30 ensured a spot; the line was going out the door for quite a ways while we were eating.
The parking lot here is absolutely insane. It was so hard to get out of there that it makes me not want to come back, unless it's on the weekend at an odd hour so it's not so crowded. -

This is a pretty good sandwich place, but I think it is a bit expensive.
When my husband and I came here, we always get the same thing. My husband would get the KUROBUTA PORK BELLY BANH MI SANDWICH. The pork belly were very flavorful and not too fatty. The pickled veggies made a good balance. And, the ciabatta was perfectly toasted. My husband and I both love the sandwich.
I usually get a salad. They don't have many choices for entree size salad. I have always sticked to the SAVE DRAKE FARM'S SALAD. I like the sweetness from the honey roasted almonds, dried cranberries, and beet. I never had beet before. At first, I found the texture of the beet a bit funny. But now, I am used to it and I like it. This is a good salad.
Other than those two things, we have tried the curry chicken salad sandwich, bbq pulled pork sandwich, and ham & gruyere grilled cheese sandwich. Nothing really stood out. I don't think I will ever get those sandwiches again, especially with that price.
The side dishes can be pretty good. We like the DIJON POTATO SALAD and the CURRY ORZO. However, we have never bought any of those. For a small side, it is about $4. The big one is about $6. It is just too expensive.
Overall, the food is good in here. For the two of us, we ordered one sandwich, one salad, and one soda. The total is about $23. It is a bit over priced for a sandwich. If not for that reason, I will be here all the time. -

Yummy!!! I love this place! They have delicious sandwiches, wraps, sides and salads.
All the choices at Mendocino are incredibly unique and wonderful combinations of flavors, sauces, meats and veggies. I usually end up ordered the Vegan Shawarma, any of the Banh Mi sandwiches, or one of the seasonal sandwiches!
The lines are always out the door, but don't be discouraged!! They are very efficient and the line moves quickly. Plus, while you're waiting in line to pay, they offer free samples of their sides. Everytime I go, they have different sides and they are also amazing!!!
They also have a little outdoor seating to enjoy the always gorgeous LA weather. -

Pork Belly banh mi and spicy potato salad awesome! Prices...downfall. For a sandwich which was normal size, it was $9.75. Everything was tasty, but I don't think I would go back and pay that much for their sandwiches.

I may never be able to eat another sandwich ever again.
A good friend of mine had recommended this place a few days before my boyfriend and I flew up to LA. When we got there, the line was out the door. Determined, we stood in line. It really didn't take long. We waited about 15 minutes or so for our food. I got The Study of Heat, and GATTDAMN! It was the jalapeno relish that spoke to me. The bread was nice and toasty, crusty outside, and fresh ingredients.
I don't think my boyfriend spoke a word the entire time we there there. All I could hear was him nom-nom-ing that sandwich. -

If you're looking for a delicious sandwich and don't mind a wait, come to Mendocino Farms. My favorite is the not-so-fried chicken sandwich. It just has the right amount of wrong in it - the wrong being those delicious crumbs of fried batter parts of fried chicken.
My tip is to go early and beat the lunch crowd! -

Santa Monica, CA
As we approached, the line was out the door. Always a good thing for a restaurant, but not the greatest sight when you're hungry.
Fast casual is the trend and at first glance Mendocino Farms felt like Tender Greens. Organic and fresh, local ingredients flood the menu. I like how you order before and while you wait to pay they start to make your order.
Meatloaf Cheeseburger - The meat was tasty, but I wouldn't say it's one of the better meatloafs I've had before. I had to put a lot of jalapenos to add some kick to it. Bread was good and cheese was light.
Pork Belly Banh Mi - Seemed like the most flavorful sandwich we tried. A different look with grilled panini bread. Not sure I could tell it was kurobuta pork, but still good flavors involved.
BBQ Pullpork - Actually liked the bacon in it more than the pork. A bit sweet for me, but a nice messy sandwich. The soft roll could be substituted for the wrap.
Overall I can see why this place gets such high ratings. Fresh ingredients, unique combinations and lively atmosphere. The portions are a bit small for me based on price, but more power to them for being able to charge what they do though.
My wife loved it so we'll be back. I'll just make sure to eat a snack before we go. -
Review from Evonne L.
i'm not sure what i got (my very good friend ordered for me) but it was some sort of sandwich and salad combo and it was one of the freshest, tastiest, flavorfulest meals i've had! best day of my life! five stars because this place is so fresh, unique, and such a tasty and healthy meal option.
i've been thinking about this place ever since i left the west coast, and wishing there was something comparable on the east side. i WILL be coming back! -

Marina del Rey, CA
I like the food here but they need a new system for ordering. The way they handle the lunch crowds is incredibly inefficient (waited 20 min to order) and longer to eat. And for a company that promotes organic and sustainable foods they certainly waste a lot of paper just on the ordering process alone (assuming they're using recycled paper to begin with).
Great soda fountain, though. Just not worth the wait... -
Review from Katie M.
I can't believe yesterday was my first time here...it's probably for the best that I don't have one really close to me, as I would easily gain 20lbs by regularly stuffing my face here!
Staff were really friendly, and the free samples while you wait is a really great concept...like Krispy Kreme for sandwiches!
We ordered the (not so) fried chicken sandwich, and the Vietnamese style kurobuta pork sandwich, with a side of the potato salad.
The BBQ sauce with the chicken sandwich is AWESOME. I love that it only has little fried niblets in it, as it keeps it tasting really fresh and not heavy at all.
We split that and the pork sandwich, and I think I nearly ate my fingers, I went through the pork so fast. The ciabatta was toasted to perfection, the pork melted in my mouth, and in addition to the cucumber and carrot, the hot peppers added the perfect amount of punch to the sandwich.
Speaking of punch, WOW the potato salad was delicious! It was the first time I'd ever tried a more mustardy and SPICY potato salad like that, and again, it made it super light and the spice took the boring potato salad feel away.
I felt everything was extremely reasonably priced...I've had really crappy sandwiches for $15, so 10-12 bucks for foodgasm?? Can I possibly complain?
I can't wait to try out some of the other choices they have! -

LOVE THIS PLACE.
I usually don't even like sandwiches, but I will GO OUT OF MY WAY to come here!
I can't emphasize how important it is for you foodies to come here!
The food is so fresh. So delicious. I like their "mendo" versions of just regular sandwiches. I haven't had their salads because I don't get to come here that often and I really love their standwiches. They have monthly specials or holiday specials that are typically delicious as well.
I really like their BBQ pulled pork. I crave pulled pork a lot, and it's delicious. Next one on my list to try right now is the Not-So-Fried Chicken. Honestly I go there and I don't know which sandwich I want until the person takes my order and I just blurt out whatever was on my mind.
They have different bread as well. I personally like ciabatta so I've had that several times. They do have wheat and rustic white as well as a variety of others.
You can also get your bread toasted. Or you can get your sandwich itself panini pressed. I really like getting my sandwiches that way.
There's usually a line that goes outside, but it doesn't take that long to get your food. You order near the front of the establishment. They hand you menus to look at if you don't know what you want. After you order, you go towards the cash register. You can sample their side salads and side dishes. They're really good. Last time I had some almond pasta sample and I really liked it. They also had a Korean style potato salad which I really enjoyed. Even as a Korean I was very impressed with its authentic taste.
That being said, it's hard to find seats there. The first time my friend took me here we found seats inside. Every other time I went I just got my sandwich to-go.
Also, parking in that plaza can be a nightmare. I made 3 laps around the lot before I parked in front of the Ralph's.
But it's so worth it. All the nightmare parking, limited seating, long lines... the food is so worth it. Come here, fellow foodies. Seriously, you won't regret it. -
Review from Ed L.
The Study of Heat is a turkey sandwich. So what, who cares? In a place where they have such exotic sandwiches as a Kurobata Pork Belly Banh Mi panini, how can a simple white bread turkey sandwich compete? By being AWESOME.
First, I acknowledged it was an attractive looking sandwich. Then I took a bite and thought, "Why is this grilled artisan bread so chewy and tasty? And the thinly sliced turkey breast with the creamy gouda and avocado taste so good together. And then the lettuce, tomato and aioli add texture and keep the sandwich from being dry. Holy Smokes, I think I'm in love." Before I know it, half the sandwich is gone. Then the sandwich says, "You ain't seen nothing yet", gets dressed up with some spicy relish and becomes a sizzling knock out. I fall off my seat.
The steak banh mi I thought was better than the pork belly. The strips of beef were tender and juicy and this time they put more pickled veggies in.
I told my wife, next time I get married, it's gonna be to The Study of Heat. I kid, I kid.Listed in: Did someone say sangwiches?

Los Angeles, CA
Considering I work under a mile away, I'd be doing myself a complete disservice if I didn't eat here at least twice a week, and the menu is varied enough that the restaurant can support my recurring visits without me getting bored.
Not EVERYTHING is knock-your-socks-off good (I'm looking at you, Papa Mario's "Social Mission" Italian Deli Sandwich and Farm Club...). That being said, sandwiches such as The Not-So-Fried Chicken, Kurobuta Pork Belly Bahn Mi, BBQ Pulled Pork, Tempeh Bacon Melt, Ham and Gruyere Grilled Cheese, and Blue Buffalo (to name a few) ARE knock-your-socks-off good. For the tree-hugger in your group, vegan options are some of the tastiest in town. Deli-case salads are pretty solid, especially the curried orzo and black-eyed-peas salad. Even the all-natural sodas are delicious and a perfect complement to the artfully crafted sandwiches, wraps, and salads.
NB: they will still make you a Three-Little-Piggies if you ask for it; ASK FOR IT!
Oh, and the staff deserves a shout-out as well; they're so friendly and helpful it makes me want to f#cking puke (in a good way!) -

Mendocino Farms is one of the best sandwich shops in America.
This place is absolutely NO JOKE. They take their sandwiches seriously, and you can taste the results in your first bite.
I tend to frequent the shop in Marina Del Rey as it is very close to LAX. The shop is in a nice center with plenty of parking. I don't end up going during the rush hour, so I am able to find a place to park.
FOOD:
The wife has had the Drunk'n Goat on Highway 128 and The Elvis (went on his birthday). Both are stellar combos of meat/non-meat and toppings. The sandwiches are complex but balanced. These are well-conceived recipes that understand when to cut and when to add. I dug the Elvis much more, but I get the....
Kurobuta Pork Belly Banh Mi
because it is EPIC! This sandwich is umami....straight up UMAMI. Actually, let's give it the 6th taste. I can't order anything else. I am a huge Banh Mi fan (traditional garden grove/westminster style). This takes the beauty of those sandwiches to a whole new level. Damn, I want one now.
SIDES:
As for sides, Mendo farms has got this one down. I am NO dairy, chocolate, coffee, sesame seeds, etc...on the allergy food scale. This is one of the ONLY places I can actually eat the sides. They have vegan potato salad that is great. They also have this curried orzo with cauliflower that is epic. EPIC! I could order just a vat of this and be very happy.
SERVICE:
Excellent customer service. They remember your name and order. They care about you as a customer. They are able to manage the crowds with ease. 5 star. Whoever does their training program should do some consulting for other restaurants in the same area.
OVERALL:
Try this place. It's worth it. Don't be a food snob and critique it because you feel a deep-seeded connection with hipsters and emo fools. Just eat the damn sandwich because it is good. It is very good. This isn't Morimoto or Keller. So, don't come in expecting to have an orgasm in a sandwich. You are expecting too much out of life, if you do stuff like this. It's a solid sandwich joint. Nothing more, nothing less. It's a very good sandwich joint. If you don't like it, get the hell out of line so I can't get my sandwich of goodness. -

Delicious sandwiches. A little pricey but most of the sammys are huge! With loads of meat.
Get the Study of Heat! They have some great pure cane sugar soda. Big ups for free sampling of there salads. Potato salad is great and has a kick with some jalapeños.
Very cool vibe.
Limited eating area. Outdoor seating = bird shat on my friend. -

My husband took me here for my birthday lunch this year. What a treat!
I had never heard of this place before, but apparently it is quite popular, and has several locations around town.
We waited in line for about 5 minutes, and our order was taken by a very friendly, knowledgeable staff member. The line moved quickly, and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
I love that they encourage folks to try samples at the deli case while waiting in line. YUM! I tried the wheat berry salad, and it was beautiful.
My husband and I both got the Pork Belly Bahn Mi, and it is no doubt the best sandwich I have ever eaten. Sweet and spicy ... crispy fresh baked bread ... I was in heaven. I can't wait to go back to have this sandwich 20 more times! A must try!
I also love the organic cane sugar soda fountain. The blackberry soda and diet root beer are both delicious.
Highly recommend stopping by for lunch. -

If sandwich-making was an art, this restaurant is Picasso's studio and the chefs are proteges of Michaelanglo. Ok; now you probably think I'm exaggerating, and now you'll won't go because you assume I got you're hopes up *too* much. Well guess again, because you NEED to go!! I'm not much of a sandwich lover, but man-- these ones are worth every bite. I ordered the Caprese sandwich, even though I'm not a big fan of mixed greens... No matter! These artists know how to mix flavors to make music in your mouth. I'm still in love with this place after grabbing lunch here two weeks ago, and can't wait to come here again. The biggest draw-back is that there's no "$5 Footlong"-- AKA, its not Subway-cheap. Indeed, it's almost as expensive as a cheap dinner restaurant even though it's mostly a lunch menu. Regardless, it's totally worth your time.

Calling all vegans!
Yum! The $6.95 salad box is such a great deal. I usually get three vegan salads, and they cram it full.
From what I can tell, they always have at least 3 vegan salad options, and I've not had one yet that I didn't like. I'm eating all 3 of these today, and I'm stuffed before I finish.
- Weiser Farm's Fingerling Potatoes and Organic Wheatberry Salad with Housemade Pickles, Green Beans and Garbanzo Beans in a Mustard Dill Dressing - Vegan
- Israeli Couscous with Roasted Tomatoes, Shiitake and Crimini Mushrooms, Japanese Eggplant, and Coleman Farm's Greens - Vegan
- Spinach and Arugula Salad with Weiser Farm's Roasted Butternut Squash, Fuyu Persimmons, Pomegranates and Pecans (Raspberry Mint Vinaigrette) - Vegan /Gluten Free
The only headache here is the parking. Practice a little patience and I promise the food is well worth it. -

Went back several more times and it never disappoints.
Hard to try other sandwiches when the Kurobuta Pork Belly Banh Mi is so delicious, but I managed to try the following:
"Not So Fried" Chicken:
Roasted chicken with little crispy bits to simulate the texture and crunch of fried chicken. BBQ sauce is delicious (tangy, sweet and spicy) and compliments the sandwich perfectly. My go to sandwich when I'm in the mood for chicken.
Spicy Lemongrass Steak Banh Mi:
Similar to the pork belly banh mi but with lemongrass steak instead. Not as fatty and rich but just as delicious. Taste a bit "cleaner". Think of it as a healthier version of the pork belly banh mi.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Christopher C.
Sherman Oaks, CA
There's been an influx of healthy fast food type options in Los Angeles recently with the Lemonade and Tender Greens franchises. Now comes Mendocino Farms, an artisan bakery type space serving sandwiches and salads with a farm to table vibe to it.
Mendocino Farms offers a variety of sandwiches all colorfully named for its ingredients or by its creator. There is a pretty good selection of vegetarian and vegan options for those inclined, but let me just say from a carnivore the vegan chili was quite delicious. I think one of the great sins of healthy cooking is people think just because it's healthy, it has to lack flavor or spice. Not so in this case as all the items are properly seasoned and have complex flavor profiles that rival some five-star restaurants in this country.
On this visit, aside from the vegan chili, I tried the Drunk'n Goat on Highway 128 sandwich. It's a grilled cheese that combines goat cheese and french brie with cranberry chutney, green apples, mixed greens on a cranberry walnut bread. I added the shaved chicken as well which gave it a whole other satisfying texture to the sandwich. The brie and goat cheese really complimented the sweetness of the cranberry chutney, but at the same time cut through the sweetness of the chutney so it doesn't overwhelm the flavor of the meat. To compliment the sandwich, I ordered the orange lemonade, which to my surprise wasn't as acidic as I thought it was going to be. More refreshing than anything else. I will say, it is not a clean sandwich to eat so just beware of that in case you're thinking about this as a date spot.
I think the one thing Mendocino Farms really does well and it's been mentioned by previous reviewers is their service. It's fast and efficient, yet all done with a very friendly smile that makes you feel like they really care about your experience. So if you happened to stop by this location and see a huge line out front, not to fret as the line moves pretty fast. The dining room is self service with a majority of the seating being outdoors in the patio. A word of advice, during high traffic hours it might be wise to have someone from your party save seats while the rest place the order so you don't run into the issue of having the carry your food around while trying to find a seat. Although, if the worst does happen, there are enough seating in the whole complex that you can try or you're only a block from the wharf and nothing like eating on the waterfront. -

I love Mendocino Farms! I am so sad that I live in Northern California now and we don't have them here :(
I can't think of a single thing I dislike about this place. The food is amazing and made from the best ingredients. There are tons of choices. Service is great and fast even during peak lunch hours. Plus they make their own soda with pure cane sugar! So great.
I highly recommend the Blue Buffalo sandwich. Grilled chicken with buffalo crunchies and blue cheese cole slaw. It is pretty amazing. And the black cherry soda is really good. I might need to branch out and try something different next time I am in LA. -

I have only ordered one thing from this restaurant in the half dozen times I've been there, so I can only comment on that.
The Sophisticated Chicken Salad is quite possibly the best salad I've ever had in my life. It has prosciutto in it so, yes, it is a tad on the salty side, but mmmmmmmm-mmmmmm good! -

My absolutely favorite artisanal sandwich shop in SoCal!
Top 3 must-have sandwiches:
Not So Fried Chicken
November To Remember (Thanksgiving Special)
Steak BLT
Always recommend getting sauces on the side to customize!
Also, salads are VERY impressive. Sample first to see if you prefer greens or a pasta-based side for the day.
Both Bahn-Mis are good, but less special if you prefer traditional ones. -

I was underwhelmed. I came here based on the high reviews and I guess I may have expected too much.
I came in and ordered a kurobuta pork belly sandwich. I know a little bit about food and especially kurobuta so with such a great ingredient my expectations are naturally high. However, coming in here is a bit of a confusing experience for the first timer. I almost walked into the back to order when I spotted a small sign to the right that said Order Here. You basically stand in a walkway and order with someone who writes your order on a piece of paper. I don't know why I expected this place to be greener. Then after you order, you have to figure out where to go next. It's almost like you're walking down the line at Chipotle except you don't really direct the staff on what to do. Then you get to this part where they offer you a sample of their salads, again confusing. Then you stand around and wait for your sandwich not sure if you're supposed to pay yet. A guy called me over and told me I can pay ahead of time.
Ok aside from all the confusion, the sandwich was nothing special. A bit too sweet and a rich on the dressing. The pork belly was OK, not spectacular.
It's kind of like a Subway meets Freebirds. It's attraction is that it's eclectic. It's different for sure, but without a real personality and the setup makes you wonder what this place really is. It just didn't work for me. -

Hate to have to do this Mendo, as your sandwiches are great when you get them right, but you're getting downgraded. You continuously screw up my order. I even have the person taking phone orders read it back to me to ensure accuracy. Go to pick it up, nope, wrong sandwich. And god forbid someone else in the office goes to pick it up and returns with it so I can't exactly re-make it. Last week all 3 orders in our office were off- like way off. Anything with poultry can be substituted for anything else with poultry, right? I think it's time we take a break Mendo, we should each take some space. It's not you, it's me. More specifically it's that I like to get the food I ordered, not a franken-version of a few of your sandwiches. So sorry.

Love.
Amazing sandwiches (the Drunken Goat Sandwich is wonderful!), the natural sodas are delicious, and the prices are just right. Everyone working there is super friendly and helpful. There's really not much else to say except this is my new favorite spot :) -

My friend introduced me to this cool little place and I've fallen in love. Just a bummer that they only have restaurants in Los Angeles. It definitely wouldn't hurt to have some restaurants down here in Orange County. Friendly people and fun feel to the place. Ordered the Kurobuta Pork Belly Banh Mi and now I'm obsessed. I can't wait to go back and get it again. I'm hoping I will actually try some other things on the menu, but I'm sure I'll end up ordering the Pork Belly Sandwich again and again. It was that good!
Favorite: Kurobuta Pork Belly Banh Mi -

MY ORDER: im a sucker for seasonal things (bc you'll never have the chance to EVER eat it again!!) so i got the winter'11 seasonal sandwich called the chicken that saved thanksgiving. it came with chicken, cranberry sauce, and stuffing...soo delicious and not as heavy as i thought it would be (good thing). all the ingredients they use are so fresh and you can tell it's a top priority for them.
FREE SIDE SAMPLES: 1 of the best things is while you wait in line, you can try the side dishes (which change all the time) for free! i tried the curry orzo and spicy dijon potato salad, both were very strong in flavors.
LOCATION: medocino is located inside a shopping complex so there's parking in the lot and you can always shop before/after grabbing lunch. there's plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating! the outdoor seating is cute! -

Food was ok. I totally think this place is overrated. The concept is good and all. I respect the mission. I just wish they new how to make their food taste better.
Btw their cookies are hard and dry. -

The people here are very nice and very helpful.
Young/fun crowd of LMU students who really take customer service seriously. They are always asking if everything is ok (if you're sitting on the inside) and taking your tray away.
I get the buffalo bleu sandwich ... delicious :D
I love their breadcrumbs. Not really breadcrumbs but delicious as well. -

i finally made it here! the line went out the door but moved pretty quickly. ordered the pork banh mi and pulled pork sandwich, then traded halves with friend.
try to get a seat outdoors, share a table with a stranger if you have to- eating this glorious sandwich under the warm sun + the slight marina del rey breeze flowing through made my lunch even more enjoyable. -

I'm going to say one thing, and one thing only: pork belly banh mi. SO GOOD. I've tried to move off it, and I just can't.

Try the Drunk'n Goat in Paris- goat cheese, cranberry...need you hear more? #promiseitsgood
That is all. Now go, GO, eat like the wind.
And make sure you sample stuff from the cold counter- they're really great about letting you try whatever. -

I've held off reviewing this place because what can I really add to a place with 400+ reviews and a 4 1/2 star rating? Meh, might as well make my voice heard as well.
This is the best sandwich place in LA
Strong words, but after coming back to this place over and over again, they've never failed me. Every single sandwich I've gotten here has been great. I've had the blue buffalo, ham & gruyere Cheese, not so fried chicken, turkey avocado and pulled pork sandwich.
The service is about as quick as it can be given how busy they are. I also like the fact that you can sample a side while waiting for your order. I've only gone during lunch hours so the prices are a little higher then what I'd usually have but its worth the extra couple bucks in quality. -

My fav sandwich place!
Love this place so much. The food is great and the staff is always friendly.
My fav items:
- pork belly banh mi
- my vegan trip through india (special sandwich summer 2011)
- not so fried chicken sandwich
- thanksgiving special sandwich - the one with turkey + stuffing + cranberry
- spicy dijon potato salad
while you wait for your sandwich order, they offer samples of the side dishes.
They also serves boylan soda which is awesome! -

This place is really good. The people that work there are friendly, the line moves relatively quickly and oh yea the sandwiches are great!
I usually get the pork belly sandwich or the prosciutto and chicken. Can't lose with either one. $10 for a medium sized sandwich is a little much but when once you taste it you won't really care about the price.
While you're waiting to pay for your food they let you sample all of their side dishes which are also pretty tasty.
I definitely recommend this place if you are in the Marina and want a quick Sandwich that isn't of the Subway or Quiznos variety.
