Menalto Cleaners is great. I like being able to go someplace and have a conversation with the owner, really gives you a sense of community. Plus the quality of dry cleaning is superior to anything I've used.

I got a suit dry cleaned there for job interviews. When I got the suit back it looked perfect and gave me the confidence I needed to nail my interview. I now take all my dry cleaning there.

Like most things of quality, Menalto Cleaners is expensive. That said, I'd rather pay a premium for perfection. The only downside, they're slow. If you drop something off there don't expect to get it back for a few days.

I'm sure this place is great if you are willing to pay for the most careful handling of your stuff.

Don't be fooled by it's near-EPA location.  Pricing is not overly clear, and in my option, too expensive.  I brought in a ton of stuff to be cleaned and had to scale back to just the basics once I heard the estimate.

If I just need a basic clean or press, I'll go to one of the many good and cheaper cleaners in Mountain View.  I suppose if I needed something last minute, the convenience of this place might win me over.

I brought a piece of clothing to Menalto Cleaners that one of my cats had done his 'business' on and Gary was very honest with me about the chances of restoring my article. Another time, I asked if he could get a piece of clothing cleaned for my boss within 24 hours and he was honest about the realistic time frame that it would take for that type of cleaning. Personally, I appreciate people being straight with me even if it's not what I want to hear vs. overpromising and underdelivering which is what a lot of businesses do.

Some people complain about Gary's prices but I happen to know that Gary pays his employees a living wage plus benefits. As a small business owner who is also an employee at a day job, I prefer to support a business person that shares my ethics whenever I possibly can so I feel good about spending my dollars here even if it isn't the cheapest.

This review is long overdue...

I've only been to Menalto Cleaners once and what an awesome experience it was. Gary was very friendly and trustworthy. I had gotten ranch dressing all over my leather bag and, before finding Gary via Yelp, I had went to my original cleaners plus 2 others. They all had told me that the price would be around $65 to $100 to get it cleaned but that it was not guaranteed. On top of that the other cleaners had told me that my bag might be ruined in the process.

Thus I would be down $100 plus my bag. psh, hellz no.

When I got to Menalto Cleaners, Gary took a look at my bag and told me that it was pretty bad but he was confident in the leather cleaners he contracted and that they would take care of it. He even called me a couple of days later letting me know that everything was good to go and that they had taken the bag to get hand cleaned.

After all the disappointing cleaners I had went to, which included my own regular one, I was surprised to find a cleaner that was willing to take so much responsibility in my bag. Needless to say, when I went to pick up my bag a week later, it was as good as new! :)

I love Menalto Cleaners.  Been a customer for over a year now and I completely trust Gary (owner) to care for my clothing.  He freakin' knows his clothes and materials - and he has never ripped me off.  I'm not too diligent about reading care labels on clothing but, he's noticed a few times that I didn't have to dry clean some of the clothes I brought.  Still, I left the clothes with Gary because they're probably better cared for in his hands than mine!

I also have a horrible habit of picking up my clothes about 1+ month after I've dropped them off.  Once, I came back to pick up a shirt that I left with Menalto Cleaners for over a month and Gary could not find it.  He looked for two weeks, he even called customers with similar names or initials to see if somebody had accidentally been given my shirt.  When we realized that my shirt was not to be found, he paid me full price for the shirt (I gave him a receipt) so that I could buy another one.  How many other cleaners would do the same??  Five-stars for Menalto Cleaners.

not the friendliest service i have ever had...they even come off a bit snarky to one another there. dude seemed to want to roll me over the coals when i mentioned that i thought the place was new (it was a compliment to how clean it was)...but he got all "you must be new around here, i have been here for 35 years"...whatever. way to be welcoming.
anyway, seems really pricey too....
i have better, more friendly places to spend my cash.

$12 for a sweater. Does that seem reasonable? Not to me.

The place is clean and the staff friendly, but they are expensive and slow. I'll probally go back there at some point... since it's the closest one to my house, but I'm not impressed.

They know their stuff.  Had two suits that needed to be altered before a business trip, they did a great job and worked with my schedule.  They do all the drycleaning for Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdales from Stanford, and this is where Bloomingdales told me to go when I was looking for a good tailor.  They did major work on a suit (like taking in the jacket waist AND trouser length) for under $50 - which is not cheap but is a good price for excellent work.  I go here for all of my special tailoring, and they're good with special drycleaning instructions as well as leather and other special-needs fabrics/materials.
