I really love this place. My family comes here every Christmas Eve and my friends and I come here for birthdays/promotion dinners (luckily we keep moving up!)/girls nights.

To be totally honest you could cut the price in 1/2 by getting your own fondue set (not too expensive) and just making it at home or on a picnic... we ordered a $45 bottle of wine which we later found out was $8 at Schnucks (what the heck?!)...and you cook your own food anyway :) But the location is great! The loop is such a great place.

You better like the people you are going with though because you will be here for quite some time!

I would recommend the Big Night Out if you are going for dinner and the Cheddar cheese fondue if you are just going for drinks.

What a total waste of money. I am blown away that I am the first bad review for that joint.  $75 for a mediocre meal is not my idea of a good time. Thank god I was with a great group of girlfriends which helped soften the blow when we were handed our bills.
We all decided to go with the big night out special which came with 4 disappointing courses for $45.  Add 2 drinks that took forever to get + tip = $75.
1st course- We went with the waiter recommendation of an alpine style fondue (can't remember the name) with a mild white cheese melted in sweet Riesling wine.  The portion of wine to cheese was way off to the point where it was not enjoyable.  All I could taste was the Riesling.  To dip in the cheese, they give you cut up chunks of lack luster bread and a bizarre mix of raw cauliflauer, celery and carrot chunks.  By the way, the bread chunks were stale.  I wonder how far in advance they cut them up.
2nd course- I went with another waiter recommendation, the California salad. Field greens, gorgonzola, and nuts...there was so much potential.  My guess is they ran out of raspberry vinaigrette and decided to throw some raspsberry flavored pancake syrup on my salad.  Calling that a vinaigrette is a stretch.  That's a sweet hot mess.
3rd course- They give you raw meat that you are expected to cook yourself in a bowl of boiling broth. The raw meet/seafood includes 2 pieces of the following:  chicken, beef, shrimp, and sausge.   Think Eckrich, not Volpi.  I also got lobster with that.  The lobster wasn't terrible I will admit.  It is hard to find lobster when we are about 1000 miles from the closest ocean.
4th course- We ordered some milk chocolate with flaming caramel.  The sauce had redeeming qualities but the items you dip in it were insulting.  You get about $.05 worth of stawberries and marshmallows to dip in the chocolate along with mini tough rice crispy treats, 2 miniature brownies (1" x1" squares) and one small sliver of cheese cake to split between 2 people.
Don't waste your time with this place.  Find a nice restaurant that will cook your food for you.

I know that all Melting Pot locations gets mixed reviews... usually the price turns people off.  It is a little pricey, but it's all about the experience.  Also, since it's a time-consuming experience, one tends to be there about twice as long as at a regular restaurant.  So I don't really mind the price for a once in a while kind of thing.  My hubbie and I have been 8-10 times at other locations, but I just went once to the St. Louis location.

My St. Louis experience was with a couple of friends... for dessert on my birthday.  (If you want to see my take on the food, check out my review of the Brea, CA, Melting Pot.)  Definitely let The Melting Pot know if you're celebrating a special occasion, because they will go out of their way to make it memorable.  At STL, they gave me balloons and took a Polaroid, including a card from the entire staff.

Also, check out each location's web site prior to making reservations.  They sometimes offer really great deals or promos, especially on weekdays.  This info might be helpful to those who feel like the regular price is over the top.

Went for the second time tonight, just for dessert this time. We ordered the flaming turtle chocolate fondue. It was delicious.

We had the same server as last time (Tameka), and she was wonderful as usual. They accidentally sent us out the wrong chocolate at first (the Yin Yang chocolate -- white chocolate and dark chocolate mixed together), and she let us keep that one at the table too, along with our correct order. How nice! The yin yang chocolate was pretty good too, for the record.

I love this place. It was great.

I adore this restaurant! With reservations you're seated very quickly. Ample seating, romantic atmosphere, they even have private couples boothes.

The service is unbeatable. You cannot find better service anywhere else around. The reason this place is so expensive and highly recommended is because the service is excellent, the drinks are outrageously unique to classics, and the atmosphere is so cozy.

I would really only recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.. as it is pricey. However, V-day, Anniversary, Birthday? Definitely!

Now, for you fondue gurus...
The quality of the cuts of meat they provide for their fondue is unbeatable.
When they say Sirloin cuts, they mean virtually fatless pieces of meat. The seafood is crazy fresh. (Lobster is HARD to get right, and they must have a good supplier)
The veggies are immaculate, you won't find a brown spot or a wilted edge on any of their vegetables.

The dessert samplers are great for a first timer, they will put marshmallows, pieces of brownie, strawberries, cheesecake etc...you will learn your first time which combo you like best - then the next time you come back you can order a more specific dessert fondue.

You've got some money to spend? You won't regret this place!

I'd have to say that the Melting Pot is a prime example of the saying you get what you pay for. The service is unmatched by most restaurants and the food is absolutely delicious. The Melting Pot really knows how to fondue.

The last time I went, I got the cheese fondue first. No matter what I dipped (fruit, bread, etc), it was all great. They mix wine and cheese together to create a creamy concoction. Then they brought out the meat. I didn't mind cooking the meat myself, although some people complain about that. I'm a big fan of the teriyaki sauce for dipping, and some of the others are good as well. And the dessert is the best part. We got the ying and yang chocolate, which mixed white and milk chocolate together for dipping. They serve marshmallows, bananas, strawberries, and little slices of pound cake. I can't even describe how full and satisfied I was when I left. Way to go Melting Pot!

We love this place!  The ambiance is very unique, the service is the best in town and the food..... oh the food.  The servings are very generous and the quality of the food is outstanding.  One tip - SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT!  Their food is soo good that if you aren't careful you will miss their delicious desserts.
This is a great place to take your family, your business associates, or your signifcant other for a romantic time (call ahead for a table that is out of the way for a romantic evening).
If you haven't been here, you are missing out!!

Melting Pot is the classic fondue chain for that special occasion with a special someone.  My only comment about this location in particular is that they often are overbooked, and you end up waiting extra--even with reservations--since fondue meals tend to last longer than expected.  Don't forget the Yin & Yang Chocolate Fondue dessert.
