Since there were no self served yogurt places that we knew of that was close to the mall and our movie was going to start in almost 30 minutes, we decided to get a quick dessert fix for instant gratification. I love my fro-yo, but Gelato will do justice for now.
We had a scoop of the tiramisu and the hazelnut crunch. You have to try the hazelnut crunch. If you are a big fan of nutella, you will love this flavor!!! The only place that I know of that actually makes nutella flavored Gelato is in Walnut Creek, but this comes in a very close second, maybe even a tie! I loved the flavor as well as the chocolate-hazel pieces, hence the crunch. Tiramisu was very good as well. Coffee flavored with some pieces of a cookie dough texture.
We chose two very good flavors that complemented each other perfectly! It was like drinking coffee with hazelnut creamer!
I don't like the price, too expensive for what it is. I could get much more at a fro-yo with all the different fruits available for the same price.
Overall good, but i still love my fro-yo please!
The gelato here is ok. Not the worst, definitely not the best, but an ok representation. The workers here are very generous with the samples until you find your flavor of choice. Out of the mountains (literally) of choices my favorites would be the pineapple/coconut or the espresso. No kidding though, that gelato does 'melt' quickly. I've yet to have some of the other neat things on the menu (italian sodas, cafe drinks) but I'm definately willing to comeback and try.
*drool*
The name of this place says it all....Melt...ahhhh..It truly does melt in your mouth wonderfully. Only question is...How come not Oakridge??!?! Anyway, a group of us were perusing through the mall since we had about an hour to spare until our movie started, and fortuitously, we came across Melt....Cha-ching....Jackpot!!! Not only did they serve gelato, but they also served crepes!!! And I love crepes!!! "A strawberry and banana with nutella and whipped cream, please! :) Oh, and a side of gelato icecream. I'll try the banana praline pecan. thanks." The only complaints I would have are two things: I just wished the crepe had a tiny bit of crunch to it. And the banana praline pecan gelato was a tad bit too banana-ish for me. You'll know what I'm referring to once you order it.
Besides that, I had a really great experience and the workers were very kind considering that I sampled almost EVERY gelato in the place. I promised them I would stop asking until there were more people coming into the store. They didn't mind. I had a good handful of tiny spoons by the time I left., but too bad I threw them away because it would've been great to use these while playing, "Spoons".
Overall, great place. I would definitely come back here again when I watch a movie at Eastridge.... But next time, I'm gonna order... the creme brulee gelato, the white chocolate rasberry gelato, and request to have my crepe extra crunchy.
Pro:
Convenience since its right in the middle of Eastridge mall
Lots of flavors for the gelato
they have crepes
Con:
Gelato doesn't taste that great
Hard to find a good flavor; mediocre to me but only because I've had REAL gelato in Little Italy in NY so nothing really compares.
The Creme Brule is pretty good though. Service isn't bad, but I can tell when the employees get all antsy after I ask for like 3 samples. My bad - just getting my money's worth!
Well, they definitely got the name right... This stuff is half melted IN the case.
It's alright though, I guess. It satisfies the ice cream/gelato/cold treat craving. I had some sort of banana caramel crunch or something, which was pretty good.
I still like Gelato Classico in Campbell WAYYYY more though.
I've come here twice. The first time I had the pistachio which I loved, and the second time my mom and I split a pistachio and stracciatella. I'm no expert on gelato, but I thought they were both good. I definitely liked the pistachio better.
This was my first gelato experience, so maybe it's not "true" gelato. I'll have to try some other places and see how Melt Gelato measures up.
Weirdly, the stracciatella melted almost instantly while the pistachio stayed frozen.
Oh you poor crepe making boy, I sigh at your novice abilities to keep that paper thin dessert taco in one piece. Alas, I must wait more than 15 minutes till you get it right watching countless crunchy, burned, hole filled crepes get frisbeed into the trash.
I step away hoping that the lack of my presence strengthens your confidence.
I take a walk.
18 minutes...Completion! Success!
Indulgence!?! Hmmm. Maybe I should have went for the gelato.
First, i find it ironic the place is called melt. I don't mean to be snobby, but the texture wasn't right for gelato, it tasted more like ice cream. they need to turn the freezer down a little bit more and let the creamy texture come out.
on the brighter side, the staff was very nice and i tried a couple samples before settling on banana caramel. it tasted like really good ice cream though. if you want gelato, i'd recommend gelato classico in mountain view.
Went here because I was craving gelato. However the prices were on the high side and you didn't get that much gelato. Wish that had a stamp card.
Cool thing is they have sandwiches and other stuff to eat on besides gelato.
Ate here once before watching American Gangster a while back. I think I felt like stuffing my face with a dessert dinner vs. eating some actual food for dinner. I remember getting like a large strawberry crepe, I think it was large if they have sizes on their crepes, but it was strawberry, since strawberry's are my favorite fruit to eat along with crepes and pies along with fried apples. But I think I paid like $7 or $8 when I got it a la mode with one of their gelato ice creams, I think it was like a vanilla chocolate pistachio with almonds or something that had that brownish white beige color texture to it. They let you sample their gelato ice creams beforehand too, so you might want to try that before picking one that you're going to pay for. The gelato ice cream was alright, and I'm no crepe expert, but I recall 2 other crepe places that I've been to before around Haight Street and in Japan Town San Jose costing a little cheaper and being a little more tasty. But I thought this place was worth a try, but I'll have to pass next time I'm at Eastridge and have a sugar fix.
I'll keep it old school and go with a greasy and fatty sticky icky Cinnabon.
Hm..I came here on a hot weekend, so there were many people crowded around this place. PLUS Steve & Barrys just opened next door so it was chaos. I came here as an alternative because I didnt want to drive all the way to Hello Desserts for a panini since I had a time block to follow. I was going to try the gelato but it didn't look too appetizing so I just went for the panini. It was pretty mediocre, it was basically a normal sandwich that was pressed. Didn't taste that great..and the mustard tasted kinda funky if you ask me.

I give this place 5 stars for their presentation. They are like swollen mountains of Gelato! I was probably 20 feet away, and I thought to myself "what the heck is that" (I'm sorta blind) as I walked closer, it was Gelato heaven! Not only do they stay on top of "defrosting" their pallets, they carve these x's in them (you'll see) Soooo, I tried Pistacio, Mint Chip, Mocha almond fudge, and of course "Creme Broule" MY TOP PICK..............it was a silky, creamy, balance of sugar!!! It was so good, I broke my "wedding dress" diet for a small cup :) Check it out!
I've never stopped here when I had a craving for gelato because I know it's not really authentic, but it'll do as a pittstop going through Eastridge. I agree, the texture of the "gelato" and "sorbeto" is quite icy and isn't as creamy as it should be. I've tried the mango, tropical, strawberry, and swiss chocolate couverture. All pretty mediocre. They also offer crepes and drinks such as smoothies, italian sodas, and coffees. Never tried any of them, but they all look good.
If you're in Eastridge needing something to cool off, this is a great spot. The prices are reasonable considering that I once paid $24 for 3 single scoops in Vegas! Geeze louise!! However, If you'd like real, authentic gelato, skip it.
Hey, my neice & nephew loved it....why must I be soooo critical!? muahhaha
Good gelato, but not the best.
Had an almond/coconut flavor, forgot the name of it, but it was good--in ice cream standards. I really wouldn't call it gelato, but at least it was flavorful :)
I would come here again, but would not recommend it if you want REAL gelato.
NOTE: Stop complaining about the size and price. Unlike other places they really pack their scoops. Gelato is denser after all. They even weighed it in front of me to show it's way more than just 5 ounces.
Great Gelato at a reasonable price.
I suggest taking advantage of plenty of samples before picking. Using the tiny sample spoons helps slow down your eating, so that you can savor the flavor.
I recommend Butter Pecan or Creme Brule
BTW the staff is chill, you can converse with them with the latest happenings.
Mmmm, gelato!
I was walking past when I begged my mom to buy me some, and she complied (surprisingly)!
I was intrigued by the many selections of flavors there was to choose from (and not just your plain chocolate and vanilla)! I settled on the Tiramisu flavor with a cone.
The worker then asked me if I wanted a sugar or waffle cone. Apparently, I didn't read the menu throughly enough or I would have seen that waffle cones = $.75 more, making my grand total $4. That left me a bit miffed.
But the gelato was delicious! Really - I loved how there were chunks of the tiramisu inside, and the creamy blend of coffee and chocolate made it sweet...but not too sweet! And the cone went with the ice cream perfectly.... mmmmm
The only draw back was that it was $4...which I could get maybe a whole pint of Dreyers at a grocery store... but it was worthwhile. (I guess I sound a bit redundant...) Definitely worth a visit!
Come here everytime i hit up eastridge!! I love their gelato! its so creamy and their crepes are also good!!! Their paninis could be better but hey their not that bad eaither! This place its a little on the pricey side so be prepared!
Yummy ass gelato without having to whine about the price.. You can have samples of whatever you want, so you always know exactly what you're going to get..
;o)
Their crepes are pretty good, too. I had the one w/ smoked salmon.. yum! And I didn't get the shits. I was so happy about that..
It's not a high end restaurant, but for what it's worth, it's a great pitt stop at Eastridge!
I bought a latte and gelato here. The gelato was great, but the latte burned my tongue. It hurt for about 6 hours. Isn't that like, illegal or something? It was so HOT. Hot enough to sue.
On the bright side, the staff was helpful and kind.
----------2.5 stars----------
Came here a few months back when they first opened and it was okayyyyy. I had the strawberry gelato and it was just like any other ice cream. Nothing too special except that its convenient because its in a mall.
What a nice alternative to the Marble Slab and ColdStones of the world! Don't get me wrong those two places are good, but for something a little different try Melt. It has tons of delicious offerings and I'm sure if your like me, you want to try more than one. It is a little expensive for a frozen treat but once in a while indulge!
WELL, I LIKED IT
i'm no gelato expert, but my gelato didn't melt right away or anything. however, my sister (who has been there a couple of times) said that hers would melt right away if it was old gelato that had been sitting there a whilie. mine was good, though! i had a panini too and it was good. this place isn't in the mall foodcourt though and there are, like, 3 tables which sucks.
they seem to have a lot of flavors here? the place was crowded but the service wasn't too bad (despite the fact that the place is manned by a bunch of teenagers!)
I like it! It tastes yummy...that is what matters to me! Plus the people working there are very nice and take the time to let you sample different flavors without getting weird about it. My favorite is the caramel chocolate. No its not like "real" gelato but its yummy in my tummy and makes me very happy!
Pretty good- but I'm not sold. We decided on a quart of half double chocolate and half guava gelato. The chocolate was wonderful- and the guava was very refreshing- pure heaven. I don't think I would go out of my way for gelato at Melt since they charge more than Yagoz in Willow Glen, but if you happen to be strolling through Eastridge- this is a nice treat.
They have many different flavors of gelato that are unique. Their gelato is only whipped once (i think gelato is usually whipped twice?) so it has a distinct chunky texture (taste the fresh ingredients). I do prefer a smoother texture in my gelato, therefore I won't come here often, so I took off a star. But if you like ice cream, try this place.
They offer other snacks and meals/crepes. I've only been there for gelato. Their staff is super friendly, so don't hesitate to ask for samples.
I go to this place weekly for my kids...yeah, just for them. Just your typical Ice Cream place, but just using Gelato Ice Cream instead. Its all about personal preference, some people don't care too much for it, but I like it because of my daughters. If you decide to try, I recommend their "Strawberry Shortcake" gelato.
I popped into Melt one day. The sign gelato had my attention.. I was thinking no way, gelato in the states!? I have been to Italy and had the pleasure to try real gelato and i was curious to see how this matched. Well i was kinda hungry too so i didn't want to fill up on sweets, so i decided to sample some while I'd wait for my crepe. My crepe was called Florentine. It had spinach, pesto, tomatoes, and cheese. the other gentleman working there was putting cheese and tomatoes on a couple pieces of bread. I was thinking bad mistake, i shouldn't have gone here. who makes crepes on white bread? well, it turned out that the guy was just making a sandwich for himself on his lunch break... Fwoo! i got worried. I felt so relieved when i saw the lady walk over to the grill thing and flatten some batter on it...the other gentleman working there was putting cheese and tomatoes on a couple pieces of bread. Fwoo! i got worried. I felt so relieved when i saw the lady walk over to the grill thing and flatten some batter on it..I watched the newbe create it. She seemed pretty good for a newbe, but still enough where i could tell that she was new. when i got my crepe, it really neat, like a burrito. Not like on of Carl Jr's burgers that is barley on the bun and all of the contents sliding out..It was SUPER YUMMY.
so my experience trying a crepe and sampling some gelato flavors was incredible, super good!
We got the banana-nutella crepe with whipped creme. It was really good...and I have tried crepes from many places. They even gave us an extra one for free! Reasonable prices. We didn't get the gelato, but all the flavors looked good.
This gelato is not nearly as flavorful as other gelato's I have tried. I agree that the texture is a bit too icy. The strawberry cheesecake is decent. However, the peanut butter & chocolate had hardly any peanut butter flavor and pieces of chocolate in it were lousy!
