I am not a contractor. I'm not even a mildly enthusiastic home improvement do-it-yourself-er. I'm the kind of person who fixes the toaster by smacking it with the broad side of a wrench!
My first visit to Meek's was about two months ago when I first moved into my new home. First the faucet in the kitchen leaked, flooding my cabinets. Then one of the cabinet doors fell off. Then the water just stopped running into the bathroom. Any sensible person would have just said the hell with it and hired a plumber. But for some reason, off I went to Meek's, determined that these were things /i could fix myself.
The staff has been incredibly patient & informative, walking me through everything I would need to replace the faucet, reattach the cabinet door and get water back to the bathroom - a new faucet & plumbing thread, hinges, and call a plumber already!!, respectively.
I'll be back the next time my house goes wonky on me... or when I build up enough chutzpah to tackle some minor home improvements.
Thankfully the manager understood the earlier problem we had with the lady who screwed up the door order, and applied credit for a reorder. That was a total surprise and wholly unexpected, but redeems the bad experience we had earlier. Go Meeks!

I usually go to the Meeks in Meyers (in Tahoe Paradise / Meyers). Really is the only game in town if you want anything like a Home Depot (who wants to drive out to Carson City?). Some of the staff is helpful. This place should be open on Sundays. It was a shocker they were close on Sundays (my project had to wait for another day). I went to the Ace at the "Y', but they have limited stock, and it was a wasted trip.
Helpful staff! Home Depot is non-existant in Tahoe. If you need to do anything handy or related to home improvement there's only one (ok 2)place(s) to consider in Tahoe - Meeks. The other place escapes me at the moment....
