Love the Medusa Lounge, I do feel bad for not remembering the bouncer/door guys name,  super cool dude and he remembers me when ever I show up... the venue is beautiful and very unique, my kinda place.... I haven't tried anything from the menu yet, but I soon will.  I usually go about two to three times a month, I love 4 of their nights, "KILLING SPREE",  "LITTLE 15", "BATCAVE CLUB" and "NEON NOISE"

.... again, like I said super cool venue, very dark and mysterious, cool bar and hang out and a cool dance floor in the back where the Dj's perform their black magic. 5 stars.... not enough cool places like this.

I know I'm not the only one but whats the name of that really cool bouncer! You guys know who im talking about.

Anyways came here the other night for yet another friends birthday party and strangely bumped into 3 different groups of friends from my life, talk about small world. So for this review ill put down a friends name and a short blurb about what they liked about Medusa.

Ezzy: The food was good and I got like 6 drinks for 20 bucks (WTF?!)
Michy: It's pretty but I wish it was a little darker...I can see the guys faces.
Me: That dj has ADD, he went from Gangsta rap to salsa and back to 80's in a span of a minute.
Panda (bday girl): No more shots! Please!

Ha ha, alright to wrap it up here are some tips to make your stay in Medusa enjoyable;

-Pre Game! Drinks are pretty expensive here.
-Try the food sounds like its pretty good.
- Make friends with the cool bouncer...and remember his name!
- Dance! Don't just stand in the middle of the dance floor and do the zombie shuffle.
- Parking is abundant and everywhere, no need to valet.

Really cool decor with a large booze selection.
More like a club than a lounge.
Often filled with douchebags, meat heads, and plastic robots.

Doorman gets a high five.

This place sucks.

I've been here a couple of times, and vaguely remember nothing but bad things like digging in the trash for my lost wallet.

Once, after frequenting this place, I woke up the next day with a tiny pumpkin in my pocket and $120 worth of mangled bar receipts.
Not only that, but my friend met a chick here that looked like a dude - and he banged her later that night! Nashtee.

First off, I'm not a clubbing/lounging kind of girl. Second of all, I'm not a fan of techno music. BUT, I had to review this place because the staff were ridiculously amazingly nice!

I went last night for a friend's birthday party and had no idea what to expect. The gothic atmosphere was interesting and not something I'm used to but I loved the architecture and the space overall. It wasn't too crowded but there were definitely people around and enjoying themselves.

When our party spilled over into another space (we were just keeping it warm until the other reserved party came), the staff came over and said they were going to move them and we could stay there! Maybe I've just had not so great experiences in the past and am easily impressed, but I thought it was really nice of them to let us hang out there.

Also, the bathrooms were super clean. I went in both the women's and men's (because the bouncer encouraged me to and even checked out the men's room to make sure it was clean...haha...so sweet!). I was really surprised by how clean it was but also a little disappointed there were no mirrors. Oh well.

The dance floor up front was a bit tight but the back room one was a lot more spacious. The group I was with tended to stay towards the front though and since I'm not really into techno, it didn't really bother me any.

The drinks were great - mojito and gin/tonic were yummy and definitely not weak. Again, did I mention how cool the staff were? Now, if they only played some old school hip hop, I might come out more often...

I tried this place out last night with my boyfriend and my lady friend. I knew we wouldn't like the music there but it didn't matter to us. It looks so pretty online that I couldn't pass it up.

Loved ....
-decor
-bouncer at the entrance
-location
-female DJ & female bartender
-not crazy crowded

Couldn't give it 5 stars because I don't think a "lounge" should charge a cover. I also don't like techno music but after a few drinks , it sure was fun to dance to. I hope to return next weekend in my Halloween costume.

i can't remember the last time i wrote a 5-star review.  they are very few and far between, esp for me. but medusa has motivated me to retire from my 5-star hiatus.

i hosted my bday party here and it was awesome in every way imaginable.  originally, my buddy and i picked the spot because of its close proximity to ktown and downtown, somewhat nice decor without being douchey or overly velvet-ropey, and their ample sections for both lounging and dancing.  from the very start, the manager yosh and door guy rob were total sweethearts and completely accomodating of my 1 million requests.  yosh even offered to let me bring in my own mixed CD to play during the night (which i WISH i made, but got too busy/lazy to do).

we started early (8pm) on a saturday night and noshed a bit on their upscale barfood (shrimp with bruschetta, fried ravioli with truffle cream) before our peeps came.  everyone commented on how nice the spot was and asked how i found such a cool yet low-key lounge - yelp and some fab blogger friends, of course ;)  our cocktail waitress irina was a total sweetheart too and totally hooked us up when we ordered a bottle with every mixer imaginable including RED BULL at no extra cost.

parking was ample and valet is only $5.  there really isn't anything bad i can say about this place.  i hope anyone who's considering having a gathering, large or small, gives medusa some serious consideration.

How can you not love this place?  The Gothic Architecture is rather beautiful and the people here are just fun.  Everyone at this establishment is just awesome--the "bouncers" are friendly and easygoing and the bartenders have always been generous with the alcohol (prices are fairly standard--$9 and up for drinks).

You'll find two bars, plenty of seating, and a dancefloor in the back room.  They have a great venue--fun mix of house/techno, 80's (they had a great tribute to Depeche Mode), and everything in between.

I'm not by any means a clubber--I'm not scouring for the hottest places to be by any means.  But when I'm in the mood for some dancing and some drinks, I always have a great time here.

Another plus?  AFter a great night out, drive a few blocks for some greasy, yummy tacos at Taco's Mexico.

Such a random place to be in on a Friday night.

Valet was $5, no entrance fee & like everyone has said, the bouncer was SUPER cool ! i wish they were all like him. HAH. Went inside & started tripping out on the decor. Verrrrry interesting. I would not wana be on shrooms or acid in this place hahaha kinda creepy to ME. nehoo, there was a dancefloor in the back. My friends knew Denise who was playing on the bongo things to the beat of the DJ's music. It was pretty cool. I don't even know what kind of music they were playing, house? electronica? something like that..  The crowd were around their late 20's & it was mixed.

Chill place to be with your friends.

Not bad - their drinks are nice and strong.  The bouncer is a great guy - I am glad I read the Yelp reviews.  =)

The music is not bad, either.  Went here close to midnight on a Saturday night and bypassed the line, had a good drink and didn't hear any electronica as someone else had mentioned.  They played a mix of various music ranging from Queen to TLC.  The place could be bigger, though.  The dance floor was really small so I had no inclination to be stuffed into a sardine can and place myself in a fire hazard situation.  The crowd could've been more attractive (and taller) - but there is nothing I can do about that.  Someone else had said in their review there is a mix of 20 to 30 something - I only saw people in their 20s - it's a very young crowd.  It's a good place to hit up with a group.  You can email them to make reservations according to their voicemail when you call them.

I hate paying cover and wasn't charged a cover to get in on a Saturday night.  However, I did hear from the people waiting in line ahead of me that there is a cover charge.  So ladies, smile big and boys, hike up your pant leg just a bit.

PROS:
- The Bouncer
- Strong drinks
- Music
- Cheap valet
- No long wait in line

CONS:
- Small dance floor
- Relatively small venue
- Not enough seating on a Saturday night (the place was packed!)
- No bar stools (could have utilized the space better)
- Short dudes

dancefloor + decent djs =  fun.

Sometimes it's kind of empty, but that just means more dancefloor for me.  The crowd is a mishmash of hipsters and randoms. But most of the lamer people are sitting in the separate room outside of dancefloor where they should be. All the cool people are dancing. It's been free every time i've gone. Also, the bouncer is very charismatic. Go on the nights where these super hyphy hipsters play nurave and housey techno shit. that is when it's the most fun cause its entertaining watching 29 year olds dress like 18 year olds and mess up breakdowns/builds on their macbookproz.

I asked a girl on the dance floor how she could dance to house music.  She grabbed my face and told me to CLOSE my eyes, FEEL the music, and DANCE like no one was looking.  I'm pretty sure she may have omitted the crucial part about being on E.

I don't know if this place charges cover, but I was able to get in on a Saturday night for free.  I'm also not sure where they found the bouncer, because he's like the nicest dude in the world and that's always fresh.

This is a great place to lounge and kick it with friends.  Drinks are fairly priced and there's a dance floor in the back with annoying disco lights and house music.

The two times I have been here, no cover. Awesome. Parking is a little bit tricky. You can valet or try your luck with the residential street parking which I have done twice.

The doorman is awesome and real chilled unlike many too good, bougie joints. Be friendly to him, because he's not a stiff. He's cool as f*ck. If you give him a solid reason to reject you, then you're probably just a moron or 16 years old.

My friends reserved a table and our waitress was very nice and friendly. The only issue I have with Medusa Lounge is that the drinks are pretty pricey. Drinks range from $11-13 bucks, club standards. I guess since there's no cover, the drink prices rival Hollywood clubs. It's somewhat understandable.

There's plenty of mingling room and in the smaller room with the dancefloor, they had electro playing the both times I was there. This is a cool, hipster hang out spot in the middle of a residential area. You can dress casual here, they're not super strict on the dress code.

Side note for smokers: you can smoke outside, just give the doorman a courtesy "Hello, I'm going to smoke and return in a few" and he'll glady let you back in right away without getting carded again.

A friend of mine invited me to go out with them to attend this event Black Eyed Soul 60s event. Very mod stuff. Music was 60s even the lights were psychedelic.

The venues interior design I thought was interesting. Not that crowded and has room for you to sit. It has a back room where you can dance if dancing is your thing. This back room has  a bar as well.  I just wish it was little cooler inside.

There's another big bar by the front of the venue as well. And the prices are average ($9 - $12).

The venue has a valet parking available which I think is $5 but you can also park your car in the street - that is if you find a spot.

The bouncer is really nice and friendly. Good chat while you wait in line to get in. It took me and my friends about 20 minutes to get inside. If it weren't for the chat of the bouncer, I would have just left the line and gone somewhere.

Will I go back? Maybe if they had other themed nights or what not, I'd probably go back.

Why is it that when a bar owner finds an ideal location in a fresh building they almost always find a way to screw it up?!  This bar could be amazing, but instead they serve chincy cocktails in plastic cups and charge a cover!  Are you kidding me?  In Silver Lake?  Get lost.  Unless I'm desperate for a house music fix I don't really see myself shaking my ass here anytime soon.

Medusa is worth checking out at least once though.  The interior is very intricate with lots of small detail in the bricks and decor.  I've been told it  was once owned by a set designer.  Avoid it on a Friday or Saturday.  Thursday is probably your night.

After reading Sasha's review (she's got good taste), I decided to check out Medusa after a fun evening of Roller Derby with friends.  It was Saturday night (but relatively early...about 9ish).

First, as Sasha mentioned the guys at the front are completely chill.  Saw us drive up on our bikes and told us to park right in front.  Nod to you gentlemen.

The space is generous and well laid out.  Bar in the front...dancing way in the back (dance floor was relatively small).  Odd mix of mostly early 20's patrons...from your goth to your preppy.  The bartendress wasn't very friendly, but she poured strong drinks...so...all good there.

In the end, mostly good taken in pieces, but the whole thing felt very disconnected.  I'm going to go back, but later to see if I get a different impression.  The key phrase there...is that the experience was good enough to get me to return.

I went here for my friend's boyfriend's birthday, and from the get-go Medusa looked promising.

I sort of wondered why there was a velvet rope, but as there was not much of a line we got in quickly (and its gratis-- that's worth mentioning). The bouncer was a sweetheart and fun to chat with as we walked in.

The decor is worth mentioning, from the ornate chandeliers to the gargoyles sitting on the columns to yes... the creepy gnomes on the stained glass windows. I was amused by it all. I also love me a dimly lit room... so plus points from me there...

So on to what really matters... drinks are decently priced, I bought a couple drinks kid and I could already tell it was strong because I watched the bartender make it.

The bathroom situation kinda sucks because they just have two (not the kind with multiple stalls, the one-room kind). Expect a line, even for guys.

There's a dance floor and second bar area in the back, I saw some hilarious hodgepodge of dancing there. From freaking to pseudo-breakdancing... but hey, if you want to get your groove on, the music fulfills its purpose.

1st off, i am NOT a clubber/lounger/drinker that's why I wouldn't say ,"Yay! I am a fan" of this place and I probably wouldn't go back---unless it's another b-day celebration. Otherwise, I would've given Medusa Lounge 4 stars---being that I had no complaints about this place at all.

pros:
- NO COVER charge for both men and women
- valet parking is only $5 or you could find street parking for FREE
- the bouncer has the perfect attitude for his job! (friendly and funny) He kicks off a a great vibe upon entering the lounge. high 5!
- the decor is a bit gothic, yet very 'interesting'--- 2 bars, lounge seatings, and a small dance room at the very back. It was the perfect place to take my visiting friend from Thailand. Yes, we were playing "tourists" inside the bar! :)
- the waitresses were courteous and didn't leave us hanging when we ordered our food & drinks
- the sweet potato fries were GOOOOOOOOOD! crispy & flavorful. the portion was HUGE---it was so big that I didn't mind offering some to random strangers whose eyes lit up passing our fries! haha
- the crowd was chill and DIVERSE. niiiiiiiiice!

cons:
can't think of any!?!?!

"I'm gay, I cannot tell a lie." - Quote of the night.

So you know, I could actually completely go on and on about how awesome the bouncer is.  Seriously, probably the BEST door experience I've ever had.  EVER.

My friend and I showed up for Work It ((http://www.myspace.com...).  It's every 2nd and 4th Sunday and a mixed Gay/Lesbian night....Did I mention it's FREE?!  My buddy guest Dj's there so I wanted to check it out.  My friend and I had no idea what time it started so we took a guess and headed down there.  Parking was SUPER easy to find.  But then again, we were ungodly early by club standards (10pm).  After a joking conversation with the bouncer, we walked inside.

Ok seriously everyone ought to know by now...I'm a huge fan of extremely dark places. For some reason I'm comforted by it. Super Dark + Soft Red Lights = Hookup Lighting as Franky H calls it. Dope.

It was completely empty, so we got drinks.  Let me teeeell you. That was perhaps the strongest Jameson/Coke I've ever had. Literally was a tall glass full of Jameson and like a splash of coke (You know your shit is strong when the mixer doesn't even change the color of the liquor).

The place is large.  The entire right side of the room is ladden with couches, chairs, tables....I love that because I hate it when you're out and about and you seriously just want to sit and chill and enjoy your drink.

The music kicked off at about midnight, the dance floor in the second room is pretty decent, plus there's a second bar in there so you don't have to stumble all the way back to the entrance area to get a re-fill.  On a Sunday night (plus it being Mother's Day) it was a good crowd, but not packed.  I ended up running into some girls I knew in typical lesbian fashion (no matter how hard I try to not be involved in the gay scene, it's true.  Lesbians really do know everyone).  My party of 2 became a party of 5, which made for a super great time.  This place not being overtly crowded was awesome because there was never a wait for the one bathroom.  And as I was standing in line, met a guy who told me: "Your hair, your piercings...omg I love it.  I'm gay, so I cannot tell a lie."  Thanks, Shane!

Bouncers and bartenders were surprisingly nice.  I've never been to another bar/club where they're so interactive with the patrons, making sure that everyone is having a good time.  I loved the setting, with all the stained glass and castle-like atmosphere.

We got in for free with reservations and parked down the street to skip that fee.  The drinks were pretty cheap (Heineken, 2 Captain and Cokes, and one Jack and Coke - $33), and the music in the lounge area was decent.  A lot of places to sit and hang out with friends.

The problem I had was the music in the dance floor section.  Crossing through the archway, you see a lot of people standing around the second bar, but not many people dancing.  On a night where there were easily over a hundred people in the lounge, maybe only a dozen were actively on the floor.  I really liked the rest of this lounge, so I'm hoping it was just a bad music selection for that night.  It was techno, the kind that's a bit too fast to actually dance to, with long pauses of silence between songs, and intermittent classic jazz that just cleared the floor.  Techno is fine and all, but please not the fast stuff, please not the long pauses, and why is this jazz here?  If they had some basic hip-hop playing, I'm sure the place would be much more packed, because the rest of the lounge is wonderful.

I went here on a Saturday. Got there close to midnight. To my surprise it was dead inside. Where was everyone?
No doubt, the place is really cool, but just empty.

The door guy is a sweetheart. I wouldn't mind coming to this place again, hopefully on a night that's more packed.
For now I give this place 3 stars for the cool lounge and decor. Hopefully in the near future I can revise my review and then bump it to a 5!

This is where I got my groove back.

I came on a second Friday of the month, which apparently is "Mod Night"  Groovy baby!

I shook my booty profusely on the psychadellically lit dance floor, along with a nice group of Mod hipster cats who welcomed me even though I wasn't dressed in the right attire for the occasion.

The staff is super de duper nice, from the bouncer that checks your ID and opens the door for you to the adorable waitress who was very attentive with water refills.

May I also say that the ranch dressing at this place is the best I've had so far in LA?  Just sayin.  I thoroughly recommend them with the garlic fries.  Make sure you have some gum for afterwards.

For 12 bucks you can choose a special cocktail off their lil menu.  I can't vouch for them or their potency, but I can say that the peeps I was with seemed to enjoy them.  They also have a nice beer on tap selection.

There is valet available for 5 bucks, but street parking was easy to find (at least for us).

I'll definitely be checking out this place on other nights, if you see me on the dancefloor shaking my booty feel free to say "hi!".

Ah, Silverlake. My old hood.

Walk in, and the place reminds me of that old Ricky Martin video when he's underwater with that mermaid, and there on a date at Disneyland, on a boat, riding through the Pirates of the Caribbean.

So if that doesn't make it obvious, I FU#KN LOVE the way this place is decorated. A lounge inspired by Greek Gods and Demigods, what the hell isn't there to love man!

Appetizers, were tapas sized, but that's it. Bruchetta, honestly, sucked. Calamari was way too fishy, the only thing that was good was the mozzarella fritti, but then again, how do you screw that up?

Drinks were damn good, another place that doesn't have great food, but some really good damn drinks.

Felt a little awkward that night, it was "Brit night." Which means British music, British Fashion, and uh....British Dancing.........!!!!

It was like a Revamped Benny Hill show, but honestly, I kinda dug the dancing. Austin Power style dancing, c'mon, who wouldn't keep lookin and then not get into it???

Place is really well set up, everyone should go AT LEAST once, but follow the bouncers advice, you might want to call ahead to check the theme tha night.

I keep calling looking for "Three's Company Thong Night."

Nope, wasn't my night tonight either :(

I had my birthday party here last year in March 2008. It was fairly new then because it had just reopened (it used to be bar owned by an older German couple, but the wife sold it after her husband had passed). They kept the decor which was awesome, because well it's wonderfully weird.

So back in March 2008, this place was great. The food was good and the crowd was lively and very fun. The waitstaff and promoters were very accommodating. The promoter or event coordinator I had corresponded with reassured me that there was no cover charge, no lines and no dress code. It's not a shorts and tank top place, but at least guys could wear chucks and not get yelled at. All in all, I had a wonderful time and loved the whole experience.

So, why only 2 stars?

Well, I went back a couple more times afterwards and everything from the crowd to the music to the service just spiraled downhill. Maybe I went on off night? But, the place was pretty empty and it was just not fun - at all. The music sucked. The people sucked.

The lounge is nestled on a cozy street corner in the city of perplexingly winding streets (Silver Lake). Unless you have the nose of a hound dog, it'd be a tremendous idea to equip yourself with a GPS to guide you.
The bouncers, as promised by the raving reviews, were incredibly friendly and fun to talk to. One of the bartenders came across as a little snooty (she'd probably be a better fit in Hollywood), but our waitress was absolutely delightful.
Delicious drinks and a good food menu.
This place is good for groups in a lounge setting, plenty of seating area for you to choose from.
Unfortunately on the night of our visit, the DJ was high on something (or was just really bad at what he's doing), so the dancing never took off. Otherwise, they do have a decent sized dance floor in the back.
It was a slow night and the crowd didn't really trickle in until 1130pm. But this is a fantastic venue so let's make it happen!!

I don't think any MEDUSA "virgin" is ever ready to experience whats in store for them.

I was literally speechless as I took in the atmosphere for the first time. Lots of taxidermy and medieval decor to justify its hauntingly dark scene. The crowd appears to be a mix of hollywood clubbers, westsiders, and just hipsters in general. I've always wondered where the Asians partied and this is definitely one of them!

Drinks are average price but are poured well. The music was techno/house but it was probably the best house music I've heard in awhile. The crowd tended to reflect the kind of music that played that night. Apparently everyday there is a theme to their music. Single men (straight or gay) wouldn't have a hard time meeting someone here.

Location is horrible. Good luck trying to find any legitimate parking on the streets. Your only true option is to pay 5 bucks for the valet which in reality isn't all that bad.

Overall Medusa left a decent impression that deserves another look.

Let's break it down, shall we?

The good:
-decor
-large dancing space
-lots of swanky, comfy seating
-well staffed bar (hey. important on a friday night!)

The bad:
-the DJs choices in spins were .... questionable
-why so many azn's? don't get me wrong, I'm all for diversity, but why do I feel like I'm a minority?

The ugly:
--$5 cover? in silverlake? for ... a regular bar? WHY?

Um, whoa, talk about crazy decor.. it looks like someone raided the Lord of the Rings and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves movie set (actually, I think they did - I swear Kevin Costner was in there somewhere) & crammed all their pseudo-medieval finds into a restaurant. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome, but our first reaction was one of ::jaw drop:: "What the fuck?" then "Heh, ok, ::nods head:: I can go with this shit. Let's get some swordfish."

Said swordfish was great, but it looks like they've changed their menu since I was there. I also had a really tasty cocktail (it was blue) & if I recall correctly, one was all I needed.

Haven't been since they transitioned it into a dance club..? But I'm thinking about checking it out again.

I've been to medusa several times, and had several different experiences.

1) Total Hipster Night: The lounge is filled with high power electronic dance music,  and the dance floor is crowded  with ironically dressed twenty-somethings. (Warning: these kids "dance big.") My dance bubble is seriously invaded, there is no room for my typical dance moves, I am forced to adapt, or be destroyed.

2) Uptight White Kid Night: Everyone spends the whole evening leaning lazily against the bar, doing their best to appear as indifferent and "over it" as possible. They are all too self-conscious to dance- esp the guys, who would never risk threatening their masculinity with such escapades. Someone spills their fruity martini on my feet.

3) Way too drunk night: I couldn't tell you, because I was way too drunk.

I had never heard of this place before meeting a group of my friends there last night - which I'll assume happens a lot because it's somewhat of a hidden prize.  One star for decor - loved the dungeon feel.  Second star for a DJ that kept the crowd dancing even though some of the songs weren't too great - and third star for lots of seating and space!

The crowd was hard to describe, lots of shiny guys in button downs and girls that looked like they might be in high school with the occasional hipster thrown in.  I'd definitely go back on a different night and hope for a more interesting mix of people.

I'm a fan of the decor along with the setup of the place. It has a lounge area in the front and a separate dance room in the back. I don't really think the house/trance-ish music really fits the place otherwise i'd love this place.
This place would be pretty cool if you planned ahead and called to reserve a table for your group. It'd be pretty hard to find an open sitting area on a Saturday night.
Drink prices are pretty typical LA prices ~10 for mixed drinks.

I've lived in LA for almost my entire life and I have to say that Medusa Lounge is one of the coolest lounges I've ever been to. Isolated in a dead area, Medusa has this Spanish-Gothic decor and a young, divey atmosphere that blends together very well. I went on a Friday night and it wasn't too crowded (which is nice) and the crowd was a good mix of all ethnic backgrounds (which is also nice).

They had damn strong drinks for around $8-9 a pop, so it only took a few to get me buzzed and tipsy. The bartenders were nice & attentive.

There's a small dance floor in the back that played very good hip hop, but interrupted it with about 30 dreadful minutes of horrific techno music. Luckily, they went back to the hip hop, spinning old school with new school -- I loved how the DJ mixed "Paper Planes" by M.I.A. with "Get Up" by James Brown.

It definitely helped that I went with a bunch of fun friends, but I'm just happy that Medusa was a chill enough lounge that didn't ruin a great night. I would come back here in a heartbeat.

I absolutely love this place! I have come here lots of times for Blackeyed Soul Club, the second friday of every month. They play great 60's beats and the atmosphere is great, plus there is no cover. The inside of Medusa is beautiful, I love the gothic decor and the chandeliers. It is super cozy inside and there is a great ambience.  There is a small dance floor in the back, past the bar and all the seating. I love dancing here, but even if you aren't one for dancing, there are leather booths and seats where you can kick back and mingle with your friends. This is a great place to come for free on a Friday night!

I guess I should start off by telling you that I'm a huge fan of ish that's close and convenient.  Prime example, the Medusa Lounge.  I live in K-town,. this lovely little bar in the middle of a random (RANDOM!) street is about two minutes away from me on Beverley.

The decor was rad; the lounge littered in gothic & medieval inspired statues, chairs and art.  The bar was stoked and ready to go...x2! If you never got around to walking to the back of the lounge, you would ever know about the dance floor that's separated from the actual bar so you can (gasp) have a real conversation (yahtzee!).  The DJ played a sick set last night, mashups, glitch and crunchy techno beats - which is apparently the norm for a friday night (as well as a $5 cover).

I came here on a friday for neon noise. The doorman was very friendly which was a shock. Inside the place was packed. There are plenty of seats and couches along the wall of the place. and there is a dance floor in the back which was a bit empty at first then got a little more happening later in the evening. The music was okay. There was some good moments and then some not so good moments. One thing that was a little annoying is that if you upon up a tab with one bartender you must go to the same bartender for all your drinks

Since this place is around the corner from my apartment building, it's unavoidable. I swung in there with some friends recently to see another friend spin, so I had a blast.

The decor is dimly lit & comically Gothic (Medusa's victims turned to stone everywhere you look).

I assume the it really depends on which night you're there (I've heard they have like 4 different specialty nights), but the times I've been in it's been a primarily Asian and alternative crowd.

They have a huge dance floor, big LCD tv's behind the DJ booth with trippy vids, all kinds of expensively upholstered couches and chairs, fairly priced drinks, and more than enough space to cruise around and people watch if you get bored.

Definitely a night club, not a dive bar, and I've seen the lines get pretty intimidating on the weekends.

I've been to this spot 4 times and all 4 times were good nights!  Last night (Friday) was black eyed soul night, so you can groove and dance to old tunes from the 60s & 70s.

The Friday crowd is pretty fashionable and very homely.  The Saturday night crowd varies, none the less still good peeps. Both crowds are within 24 to 30 yrs of age, just finished college and started making real money.

I recommend you check out the last Friday of every month as, DJ Paul V from Indie 103.1, spins that night and the dance floor gets pretty crazy!!  I also recommend the first Friday which is "Clash of the Titans" with DJ Pubes on the 1s and 2s. And I shall start hitting up Black Eyed Soul Friday's, to find that foxy mod chick that I've always dreamed off, a la Audrey Hepburn in Charade.

As you can see from the pictures, the decor is influenced by German architecture.  There are a lot of beautiful carvings and stain glass pieces.  My friend Nanette told me that she would love to have her wedding their since it looks like a church!!

The prices on drinks aren't too bad, 5 bucks for beers and I think 8 bucks for mix drinks.

The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star is the girl to guy ratio.  To much guys and not enough girls.  So ladies!!  If you're looking for some fashionable guys who has a future, come check out Medusa!!!
