okay.....here'syet another update on the return of Medusa to their original setting and idea...up front at 501 Broad with loud music, friendly knowledgable staff and WONDERFUL  food....

The wine list is still decent (not too long or pretentious...) and they also have a good / short beer list (no drafts and a little lite on the ales...all lagers) but a good variety.

But that is not as important as the food.  Chef Greg...he's the crazy guy in the back bouncing around with the bandana...is superb...and back in the groove...

The menu is pretty unchanged overall from the old days....still a great variety of appetizers, salads and, the highlight to us, the entrees...I had the lamb chops...wonderful wonderful...and the better half had the trout and lobster special...also excellent.  They had added the veggies back on the entrees..after a short experiment on 'extra' sides...and they are also wonderful....veggies are actually as good as the 'main course'....cooked just right and in just the right amount

a hint...stay away from the pasta...not his strength...stay with real food...meat and fish...never been disappointed there

bottom line...great spot...back where they belong ... upfront on Broad..we will be back

By far the worst experience I have ever had a at restaurant.  We have supported this restaurant for years and will never go back!  We had a reservation for 4 people and brought an additional person.  Their was one table occupied and they would not seat us.  THE WHOLE RESTAURANT WAS EMPTY!  This is what happens when you have no respect for the people that support your business.  If you want an food experience with 0 CUSTOMER SERVICE, I would suggest eating at Medusa.

This is a charming place.   When you enter, there are several small dining tables in the shape of an L, outlining a large wooden bar affront a chalk board with the specials of the evening and the text, "Yes, the music is loud.  That's the way we like it. - Chef Greg".

Chef Greg is the gregarious, bearded, bandana sporting chef that is toiling over your food with a furious expression on his face in the kitchen at the end of the bar.  He almost looks like he's willing the food to be good with his mind.  Watch him... you'll see.

Anyway...  We sit down... decent wine list.  We ordered a Willamette Pinot, which is always an excellent choice.  The server gave me a funny look.  "How is it?  Is that not the best choice?" I asked.  He said, "well... it's a Willamette... but... you'll see."  He brought our bottle, opened and poured it appropriately, and my whole body literally jerked at the first sip.  "See..." the waiter said, and brought us a much better bottle, no questions asked.

We spent a minute with the waiter discussing how a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir missed the mark, got stumped and ordered our dinner.

Calamari appetizer.... I know what you're thinking.  That's what the Clampetts would order at TGIFridays if they were fixin' for a nice supper.  Wrongo.  These were the largest calamari I've ever seen.  The bodies were the size of my forefinger and middle finger combined.  They were grilled perfectly.  Excellent texture and taste.  Even more impressive was the fact that they had the wherewithal to cook the bodies and the "tentacles" separately, since they cook at a different temp (if prepped together, one typically comes out overdone while the other is perfect... you get half a dish).  So, the whole thing was perfect... the calamari was served on a bed of steamed spinach, a tomato based sauce with basil and something that tasted like a goat cheese paste... I can't remember.  One way or the other, it was delish.

    Meals and sides come...

My girlfriend had Trout and Lobster.  The trout was superb, and the lobster was even better.  Dipping this lobster in butter would have been a sin.  It was perfect.

I had the "Chef's Choice" or something like that.  Chef Greg prepares a small portion of a bunch of different entrees.  Again... incredible.  a small sized piece of Breaded Perch (best fried fish I've ever had), a Mediterranean spare rib (ribs marinated in a lemon sauce... think "Greek Ribs"), 3 oz Filet Mignon, Chicken Breast with tzatziki sauce, a small lobster tail... I mean, come on.  Beat that meal?!  Impossible.

The sides were spectacular as well.  Grilled veggies (zucchini, peppers, good veggies) and mashed potatoes topped with mashed butternut squash, which was without a doubt the most impressive thing of the night.

Butternut squash with some nutmeg, vanilla sugar, some secret ingredients and a dash of curry.  Absolutely positively insanely good.

The best thing about this place is the fact that it's small enough (prob holds 50 people) that the Chef can cook for everybody.  It's Chef Greg and a sous chef.  You will not find cut-rate jokers that can't cook a piece of meat consistently mucking up a good chef's menu at Medusas... no sir.

I'm sick of typing.  Loved it.  Highly recommend.

Medusa is a pretty restaurant and interesting menu.  But do not send a dish back or complain about anything.  The chef has an ego which is best explained by his statement,"music is loud and we like it that way."
I had his lobster fettucini alfredo.  Definitely overcooked.  When i replied to waiter that it was not done correctly he whisked it away.  never offered to replace it or apologize.  Beyond that, he was obviously mad.  His attitude was changed.  They also did not adjust bill or offer anything else.
    Stay away.

OMG!!!! i cant not tell you all of the spectacular food there but my faves are the dolmates, chicken oraginatto, saganaki, and the greek salad!  Chef Greg is a close friend of my mine and is always will be the best chef in town.  The atomosphere is awsome and service is great!  The truth is that you can pay the same amount there for a truley amazing meal, or at Mia Bella Bistro, for a truley crappy meal!

what ever you do- go there! or else you are missing the greatest meal of your life!

WAAAY too pricey for Greek food.  Decent ambience but I think they fancy themselves trendy.  Folks...this is Lake Geneva, not LA.  Food is decent but not worth the price. Service is very spotty at best.

My girlfriend and I went here for what we thought was going to be an enjoyable New Year's Eve dinner. After reading some of the reviews we had pretty high expectations for a good meal - we were very disappointed.

For a "high-end" restaurant, their appearance is anything but that. It's dark, and frankly, kind of dingy. The wait staff seemed OK but they definitely were not that informative about the food. They read off the specials and never mentioned a price. They didn't tell us that the meals came with sides so we were expecting nothing. They actually had 3 or 4 sides but it seemed like they just threw stuff together that was probably left over.

The saganaki was the highlight of the meal. The wine was also good and reasonably priced, but the rest of the meal was sub-par. Sopra is a better option for a fancy meal if you're dining in Lake Geneva. We will not go back here.

Ate at Medusa's on Saturday night with three other girlfriends. Food was overpriced and extremely salty. Had the trout with lobster and if that is the restaurant's idea of lobster they should be embarrassed. It was the size of a jumbo shrimp at best. When we told the waiter this he acted shocked. He came back later with two replacement lobsters for those of us that ordered the entree even though we did not ask him to but then had the audacity to charge us for it. Ridiculous. I returned my entree as it was unedible. The calamari appetizer was okay. The waiter we had acted shocked that we didn't like our food. and befuddled on what to do to correct the problems. I would not recommend this restaurant based on the subpar food and service.

In all honesty, I put the last meal I had at Medusa just before Christmas in my top 3 meals of all time. We had a party of 8 and reserved the newly renovated back room and the food and atmosphere was amazing. Great lobster tails, risotto with mussels, grouper, pork and beef tenderloin - I could go on and on. Everything was amazing. The freshness of all of the ingredients and the attention to detail is what sets Medusa apart. Great for a special occasion or an intimate, casual dinner. Call for a reservation or pop in and and try to score a few seats at the Chef's counter. And don't forget the saganaki -- who can resist a flaming wedge of cheese - Opa!

Medusa's was the #1 restaurant on http://tripadvisor.com in the geneva area, so we tried it out.  We ordered a greek salad at $13 to split between the 2 of us and it was the first in a series of let-downs.  It was somewhat lacking in its variety of ingredients, there are many other places with better greek salads.  There was only 1 anchovy in the entire thing.  One of us ordered lobster and Mahi, which was a special they were having for $30.  The Mahi was overcooked and the lobster was a tiny half-tail.  I don't know if this truly is the best Lake Geneva has to offer...  Wait service was spotty as well, making us wait quite some time for the check.

I honestly can't believe that I am the first to give this place less than 5 stars.  Perhaps I set my expectations a bit high, but to consider Medusa fine dining is like comparing a Mustang to a Ferrari.   At first we were taken back by temperature inside, even with a wall air unit it was not very comfortable.  I will say the saganaki was good, but really I have never had a bad one.  The portions were way too big, the sides that were brought out (veggies and starches) were enough for two.  We also found the food to be a bit greasy, and the same sauce was used on two dishes which was unnecessary.  The service was okay, nothing special or memorable.  All in all this was just an mediocre restaurant in a small town, the town folk love it and find it to be a welcome change to the usual bar fare served throughout the area.  I found it to be disappointing after reading prior reviews.

My wife and I first ate here in 2006 when it was recommended by a local wine merchant.  We found that first meal to be wonderful!  Friendly staff, excellent food, and a nice atmosphere.  We went back again this weekend (9/4/09).  We again had a great meal with great service.  Is it a little warm in there?  Yeah... but so what?  To the others that complained about the food, that has not been our experience in two visits.  I had the ribeye and my wife had the lamb chops.. Both were terrific.  Note that all of the all of the gelato is made on the premises by the chef.
