(This REVIEW will only be for Medjools as a 'bar/night club' and not for their restaurant.)
ok! here I go......
I have a LOVE / HATE relationship with this establishment! What sets a bar/lounge apart from others like it??? Location. Music and duh! the BAR!
My only complaint about this place has to do with the bar. =( The drinks are expensive and diluted. I usually pay about $8 for a Henn and Coke at any other bar in SF but Medjool's version is priced at $12! now thats a 'NO no' in my book! I asked for a 'THREE WISE MEN' and a 'BEAUTIFUL' and all the bartenders had no clue! WTH! Please refer to the recipe below if you work here:
Three Wise Men recipe
~ Johnnie Walker® Scotch whisky
~ Jim Beam® bourbon whiskey
~ Jack Daniel's® Tennessee whiskey
and
BEAUTIFUL
1 oz. Cognac
1 oz. Grand Marnier
Mixing Instructions
Combine ingredients in a brandy snifter.
okay on the brighter-side of things. Medjools is one of the only restaurants/bar/lounges (SKY TERRENCE) in SF with one of most rare skyline view of San Francisco! The view on a clear night is AWESOME!
This review lost 1 star from my experiences at the bar, but don't let this keep you from visiting this place for a drink! Just be smart and know their prices and you'll enjoy the rest!
The roof top is the place to be!
Came here for a birthday party over the weekend and I had a great time. This is for the club only and not for the meal.
The music was good. The crowd is a good mix and I really can't complain. Plus..........it was 3 of my friends bdays so you know what..........it would be fun regardless of where we were. This, however, might be a place where you need to bring someone that can have fun given any circumstances.
The bartenders on the second floor are a little slow, It really shouldn't take you guys that long to make 7 patron shots and 7 grey goose shots. I can only imagine if I ordered 1 patron, 1 grey goose, 1 long island, 1 screw driver, 1 lemon drop, 1 apple martini, and 1 cosmo. I would never do that to a bartender in a club. haahahah. That would be funny if I did.
I would probably only come back if there was another bday party or special occasion.
It's interesting that most of the reviews are for Medjool as a dance spot, not as a restaurant, which it happens to be most of the day/ week.
Five of us gathered for a much-needed Ladies' Night dinner on Saturday. We ordered a bunch of plates from each of the regions represented on the menu (North African, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern) and the food was ALL amazing. There was sea bass, halibut, steak, chicken, hummus/baba ganoush, scallops, pita, couscous...I can't even say what was my favorite. Everything had distinct flavor, but all very pleasant. Our waiter was amazing, even if he did say "you look like you need a drink."
The bill came out to just over $200 for our group, including drinks. It's definitely not cheap but the food is absolutely delicious and I would love to come back!
Is it a restaurant? Is it a night club? I don't really know, but it is horrible! The fact that it does double duty should have tipped me off.. But, I stupidly walked in and committed my wife and I to some awful food and service.
The food was a bit bland for a "middle eastern" slanted restaurant I've had better b'stilla at even the worst of Moroccan eateries. The service was extremely slow, despite the fact there were only 4-5 tables occupied.
My advice is to just stay away -
It's okay, nothing impressive. I'm not sure what to make of it, perhaps a more refined take at Middle Eastern food? It lacks the taste of authenticity but it's still good. Definitely overpriced for anorexic portions though! It's worth a try and I'm sure some will like it a lot, but I didn't leave feeling I needed to go back soon, personally.
I've only been here twice. Both occasions were birthday gatherings; so our little posse kept each other entertained. But otherwise I can't see myself coming back here. The music and drinks were bland. Just an overall..'trying too hard' sort of vibe amongst the crowd.
The rooftop bar lends a pretty decent view and ambiance though. I probably would have enjoyed this place back in college. But then again...dive bars and denim miniskirts seemed like a good idea back then too :o)
What has happened to Medjool?
This place has turned into a joke! We came here last night, and it totally felt like we were at a rave surrounded by high school kids. HORRIBLE. The DJ was spinning terrible music, and the bouncers were just plain rude. After 10mins, we bolted. Definitely, not worth the $10 cover charge.
Get your act together guys.
This place is a joke, don't bother.
$15 Cover - Fail, are you serious?!
Bartender - Fail
Small plastic cups used by United Airline and friends, full of ice - FAIL
Music - Alright
Video projection of holocaust survivors while blasting poker face - FAIL
Sound system - Much better than it used to be, but still fail
Crowd - Marina crowd trying to be edgy by going to the mission. Definitely not a hot scene
Bouncer - Since when bouncers are not a total failure?
Decided to try the place because my friend was having her birthday party here. The ambiance was nice, it's three level. The first level is the dining area, second level was lounging and then a roof top. That's the cool part, very nice view!! The bouncer was pretty bossy of where people should stand and stuff, but needless to day it's their job.
The food here is okay, tapas style. Price ranges from $15-$20 a plate, give and take. Ended up ordering:
*Fried Sumac-Dusted Calamari, Red Onions and Lemons With Aioli: it was really good - the onion and lemon were also deep fried, nice flavor
*Grilled Hanger Steak with Sautéed Spinach and Harissa Sauce: it was good, but nothing spectacular. It's cooked medium rare, which was perfect
*Braised Short Rib, Medjool Date, Cinnamon Sauce, and Twice Baked Potatoes: The meat was really soft, sauce wasn't too overpowering and definitely had the cinnamon kick to it.
Sangria: WARNING, do not order!! It tasted like cheap old wine, similar to Robitussin.
Overall, should give it a try. Warning, the portion is very small (hint tapas).
went there to get some food and some drank on a Friday night. Lets start with the food...........the tapas menu that they offer is pretty unique but nothing too exciting. Coming from a vacation in Barcelona and comparing their tapas to Medjool's...............well, there is no comparison. But it was ok after all, not too shabby.
Drinks are ok, if you stick with beer it will be your typical $6 beer night. They have a sick bar upstairs and I believe its cash only. If someone is visiting me, I'll take them their because of the view.
For real? 45 mins and no food yet?
What? 20 more mins for the 2nd dish to come?
Frack! Where's the desert?
Food is ok but not worth the wait!
The Sky Lounge is nice but hack, no music up here?
What? Cash only? Are we in China town?
And yes, you do contribute to the global warming issue by serving in plastic cups! BTW, your drinks are weak!
Can I give ZERO Star please!-
Dining in Medjool was... pleasant... but costs an arm & a leg... and can we say MICROSCOPIC?! You'll definitely be getting a burrito 10-15 minutes after leaving this place. . .
Atmosphere is very, very nice, though. Props to them for making the place look especially inviting.
Food overall was not bad. Portions are tiny but taste is satisfactory.
THE BIGGIE about this place is the Sky Terrace.
- The view is astounding, especially at night. On a good night (low wind / not too cold / good visibility) its definitely worth coming here, even if you only get a drink (which are also amazingly expensive, by the way!).
The nightclub portion of this place gets pretty hot & heavy and I can't say I've hung out here during those hours (not my kind of crowd!).
All in all I'm a fan --- mainly of the rooftop view & atmosphere!
Happy Birthday Girl!
Nice decor and dinner ambiance is lively. The first floor bar is just so busy with people eating that I had to find an alternative. The 2nd floor bar is easy to find and makes very stiff drinks for everyone. After two AMF's and two bday shots I finally had heard about the wait for the food but it is what it is. Fortunately I didn't eat... but drank and drank and drank till close. The view from the top is great and the funky couches are comfy as hell!!
Keep in mind that parking is hard to find unless you have the luck of the devil. And at the roof top patio/bar/etc was great though it would have been nice to have a touch more music. And the entire 'cash only' on the roof deal is a pain in the ass to carry that much for the amount we intended to drink. But I'd do anything for my cousins! With that being said, i hauled up that stash to do what we do and get her FUBAR! Cant pick family.. kekekekeke
;D
Visiting San Francisco for the weekend, My sister in law decided to take us to Medjool after having dinner at some Italian place in Glen Park. She happens to live close by, and thought it would be nice to show us the great view of the city Medjool has from a distance. Medjool is one of those type of places you take visitors from out of town to see the beautiful view. I also noticed that there are many locals that go to Medjools. With a view like that I don't blame them.
It happens to fit under a nice, loungy, upscale bar, which was cool. Another thing that I liked was that it is not in a touristy area, If it was then it would be packed on the weekends. It is on top of the fourth or fifth floor, so you go up to the top on the elevator.
We just had a couple of Anchor Steam's, looked around, then we left. They also have a restaurant up stairs, so you can also enjoy the views with your dinner.
Ok let me chuckle a little bit before I write this review..
hahahhahahaha
ok, while that is said and done this place is a joke. I came here for my friend's bachelorette party and this place is interesting. It reminds me of a meat market but worst. I guess it was fun for my girlfriend's bachelorette party, but I left early, and 15 minutes afterwards they went back to their hotel room. My excuse was a good excuse, I had to go to work, but leaving this place does not require an excuse, it's just crappy.. crappy all around. Guys wearing too much cologne, and girls that dance like they are getting electrocuted! Hilarious!
Don't go, unless you want to get rufied and want to find yourself in an alley somewhere in the mission. hahah
N and I had a 5:30 reservation on Saturday. We were early and they were not serving yet, so it was perfect opportunity to enjoy a cocktail on the sky terrace, and we did enjoy our cocktails. We both had a Pear lemon drop. It was the perfect blend of pear brandy, Champagne, and fresh lemon juice. I enjoyed the 360 degree view and as I sat looking out over the city I wondered if my 19th and early 20th ancestors, who had businesses very near this restaurant, would recognize the Mission District and the city that they loved as it is today.
The dinner started out with a plate of olives and a wonderful creamy cheese. The waitress came and after she told us the specials she said "I really don't have any time to spend with you, I have other tables" as she walked off she mentioned some like they suggest we order a plate and 1/2. I assumed she meant per person but it was only a guess.
To ponder the menu we ordered another cocktail and the charming fellow who waited on us on the terrace took care of our order.
The witch came back to take our order and when we ordered the Moroccan Chicken B'stilla with Cinnamon and Almonds.
She said, "A little birdie told her they were out of it."
How could that be? We were the first people to sit down and the people at the other table were seated after we were.
We shared the following dishes:
Four Seared Sea Scallops, Forage Mushrooms, Dungeness crab Hollandaise, with Watercress. This was my favorite dish of the night but with only two scallops each, there was not enough to really savor.
Fried Sumac-Dusted Calamari, Red Onions and Lemons with Aioli: The calamari was filling and despite the sumac it was not very unusually
Lamb and Fig Tagine was very tasty but I was to full of Calamari to enjoy it
Did not actually DINE at Medjool but had a meal catered by Medjool and it was goooood!
Was very happy with their hummus and chicken dish!! Also a simple salad and a veggie dish which were pretty good.
Will have to stop by and have dinner.. hang out on the rooftop (hopefully!!)
We went to eat, and not to see the view or to participate in the 'scene.' So this review is specific to the food, and atmosphere of the downstairs dining area only.
Small plates are a personal favorite as its a good way to taste more than just one thing, and it's communal... reminding me slightly of when I was a kid and we'd all dive into the plates to share a meal... so kinda family style.
The selection was good, a bit of a mish-mash-hash of middle eastern, north African, and Mediterranean foods. Which considering their proximity to one another do kind-of make sense, but unless you know the difference can make for a tasty but confusing dinner.
Its not that you should feel obligated to stick to any one region, but be mindful of what you are choosing. Mejool (like the actual date) is not bad, but in large quantities can imagine would be overwhelming. The dishes are rich, bright, and range from savory to sweet. The one consistent thing is that they will do their darndest to hit you over the head with how 'cool' the place is, and not so much about how the food is intended to keep your attention. Its really a filler.
Drinks? well I only had the opportunity to try a few... but mixologists... they may be... but I was not terribly impressed. They were not terribly imaginative, and presentation wise didn't offer anything that I can't find at the local pub around the corner with a seasoned bar-keep.
The one really nice thing.. the staff. Attentive and there! which considering the cavernous downstairs eating area could have gotten a different treatment, but they did an excellent job of making sure that we were attended to well. Dishes were picked up quickly and with little interruption to the meal, so that we weren't forced to deal with the horror of plates stacked high to show the rest of the restaurant our gluttony.
I'd probably go again... but not sure about weekend nights, unless I'm there to party.
Although Medjool is in a questionable neighborhood, it's a great nightclub venue. I love the super-high ceiling, the terrace that overlooks the street, and the view from the roof. I particularly appreciate the heated lamps on the rooftop that make the experience more pleasant on colder nights. You would never think that a moderately-sized building like Medjool could have a view that gorgeous, but it DOES!
The terrace on the middle floor is great for a breath of fresh air during your dance floor break, and it doesn't take too long to get drinks. The music is good, their sound system is great, and the bottle service areas are nice and comfy. Aside from a lack of street parking and being in the Mission district, I have no other complaints.
Came here for dinner with my cousin from Toronto. We ate on the terrace because I wanted him to get a good view of the city while we ate. We got here around 7:30 on Friday night and were seated right away. First, by a not so good spot, then when a better spot opened up, under the tent, I asked to be moved and they were great about it! Didn't make me feel fussy or anything.
Service is a 4.5 stars, because everyone is sooooooooooo nice, but they didn't come by as often to check on us in the beginning.
Food is surprisingly really good for a place with a view (usually you get one or the other; great food or great view, not both). Well, in this case we got a little bit of both. Clear view of the city skyline and really good food. 5 Stars.
The ambiance is what sold me! 6 stars! I love this space, the noise, the people, the outside air, the lights, and the heating lamps for allowing me to take it all (almost all) off in the middle of the night on a San Francisco rooftop! Unheard of!
Will definitely bring visiting relatives and friends from outta town here for dinner and late night get togethers! OMG!!! I'm so happy I came here (also recommended by Check Please! so I had to try it)
I'd been hearing about Medjool for years, but for whatever reason never made it here. Boy, I gotta' tell ya, I was a dolt for not getting off my good intentions years ago and hoofing it down to Medjool for some solid North African and Middle Eastern cuisine.
While the menu also offers "Southern European" fare, I didn't come to a place named Medjool to eat that - I came for the kind of food that I can't find on every other commercial block in the city: tender lamb, couscous and more... the list goes on and on.
My first impression of Medjool was the entrance - and boy is it an entrance. Spacious, clean, nice. But looks are one thing - service and food are everything else and far more important. The host greeted us promptly and very courteously - no attitude, no talking to the hand while they yacked on the phone - it was all business and he took care of the customers in front of him then and there. A very nice start, indeed.
The restaurant was only half-full - indicative of the fact that we showed up a couple hours before all the truly cool people apparently come out - they couldn't possibly be seen at such an unfashionably early hour, now could they? But the number of people was definitely no indication whatsoever of the quality of the food or service.
The entire wait staff was brilliant! Our server was impeccably polite, had complete knowledge of the menu, and even made recommendations that - be still my heart - were completely accurate and honest. When he recommended a dish that was his favorite, it turned out to be amazing (the lamb, fig and couscous). When he said that three plates should do for the two of us, he was spot on - one more bite and we'd have exploded. And when we gathered up our wits and tested the waters of dessert (despite the risk of dying a blissful death of indulging in wonderful food), he recommended another delectable dish that he said was his favorite - a lovely peach cobbler with Tahitian vanilla ice cream.
Everything was wonderful. Well, I do have to say that the sea bass with red pepper sauce and eggplant wasn't my favorite at first, but my girlfriend enjoyed it... it was when I mixed the sea bass with the sauce and eggplant into a single bite that I began to change my attitude, and it climbed up out of my food doghouse into the warm sunshine of dishes. (And I'm biased on sea bass here, I personally like my own dish to this one, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with Medjool's dish - please, do give it a try if you appreciate fish.)
While the price tag came out to $72 for the two of us (plus tip), it was worth every penny of it. The food was great. The service was great. The atmosphere was great. Nobody was rude, service was fast, and everything was cooked perfectly. This is how a nice dinner should be.
I can tell that the owner(s) of Medjool care about how people see their restaurant, and they even leave a feedback card in with the bill so you can comment on your experience - a very nice touch, and probably the first time I've ever seen this in any restaurant in San Francisco.
There's no question I'm coming back to Medjool, and next time, I'm bringing friends. They've won my stomach over, and they'll definitely be getting more of my money in the future.
Medjool Med-rules!
Went to this club late on a Friday. I have to say I would not recommend it. This club is overpriced. $10 cover for poor music and expensive drinks. Anal security. Weak crowd. Complete waste of time and money. The only, and I mean only reason it got two stars and why I would ever consider going back, is the roof-top bar. Great view of the city. Worth it? Barely.
I've only been to this place once about 5 years ago.....on what was probably "Persian night". That being said, I've once again found myself back at this place couple Saturday nights ago.
$10 dollar cover at the door. Drinks were reasonable prices and they serve the beer in plastic cups. *whack*. Music was okay but i swear the DJ was trying to mix some of the latest hip hop and rave/techno with some middle eastern mixes from back home somehow.
I was with great company. A group of us who randomly decided to go into this joint on impulse rather than go bar hoping to other joints down the way like we had originally planned.
We found out later that there was an upstairs place on the rooftop with with a bar, chairs, tables, heating lamps, tunes, more people and a view to a kill like the James bond flick.
Overall, it went well and we grabbed some Mexican food somewhere a block away. The food I'll have to yelp later. My take, 3 out of 5 stars. Check it out if you haven't. Word.
This place is just what you would expect from any other three star place.. the music is good... the bar is crowed... the drinks are expensive and there is a cover... the pluses are it is close to my house and the outdoor patio!
If you are in the mission check it out.. .but get there before ten or else you pay to get in which well none of us love... haha
I went to one of those colleges in a bodunk town where the biggest things to do were:
1) Shop at Wal*Mart
2) Tip cows
3) Pick corn off the stalk
4) Shop at the other Wal*Mart
5) Cruise the streets in our Honda Civics trying to hook up with townies
We didn't have many bars so all our parties took place in apartments. All the apartment complexes were slight variations on the same building. Due to this, I spent many a night hanging out on a patio, having a drink, staring at barn animals that escaped from captivity. I love any party that allows you to hang out on a patio. Because of this, and despite their over-priced drinks, I love Medjool.
Yes, the cost of the drinks here is a little more than average and doesn't feel like the quality matches what you pay. And yes, you have to go up the slowest elevator that was ever built to reach the roof top. But once you get there? It's like being back at that kegger. Except without the keg. Or meat-heads. Or any other thing that comes with a kegger since it was mostly lame. Just the part of drinking on a patio. That part is awesome.
There are heat lamps scattered across the floor. There aren't THAT many so I suggest bringing a sweatshirt or jacket until the first two drinks kick in. There's a bar in the corner and a wait staff person that comes around to the tables. So depending on if you're feeling lazy or impatient, you have several options.
I came here on my birthday... then two weeks later... and then a week after that. I don't come enough to feel comfortable calling it "one of my spots" but enough that I feel comfortable calling it "a place I frequent and enjoy upon each encounter." You know, since people use that phrase a lot.
Eight of us were looking for a cafe after our dinner and Medjool welcomed us. They have a separate lounging area on the dining floor where we had had our coffee, tea and desserts. Their service was just a tad slow, but the waiters were really friendly.
On Tue night, I went to Diane's birthday dinner at Medjool in the Mission.
Medjool is a large, chic small plates restaurant/lounge featuring cuisine from North Africa, Southern Europe, and the Middle East. There was quite an array of choices and I have to admit I was really impressed with the quality of the food here, there were no misses.
I never entertained going here even though it was just a few blocks away because of the negative impression I held of B & T patrons that frequent this place on the weekend. Medjool features a deck and that's a big draw in the Mission -even if your view is of the Mission. I am reminded of this exchange from "In Bruges":
Ken: Coming up?
Ray: What's up there?
Ken: The view.
Ray: The view of what? The view of down here? I can see that down here.
Ken: Ray, you are about the worst tourist in the whole world.
Ray: Ken, I grew up in Dublin. I love Dublin. If I grew up on a farm, and was retarded, Bruges might impress me but I didn't, so it doesn't.
Apparently the view of crack-heads and aroma of urine is somehow enlightening when you're one or two stories up. But I digress.
The food was stellar, we shared an assortment of small plates and none disappointed. My favorites were:
* Bruschetta with Herbed Ricotta, Black Mission Figs, Cloverdale Honey
* Spicy Ahi Tuna Tartar, Preserved Lemon, Harissa Powder, Quail Egg
* Lamb and Fig Tagine
* Grilled Hanger Steak with Sautéed Spinach and Harissa Sauce
* Braised Short Rib, Medjool Date, Cinnamon Sauce, and Twice Baked Potatoes
* Pan Roasted Salmon, Morel Mushrooms, English Peas, Gnocchi
* Dungeness Crab Filled Falafel with Fresh Tomato and Tahini Sauce
I also really enjoyed an expertly made French Pineapple Martini, delicious!
3.5 Stars. Yelp listen to your users and let us use half stars ratings.
Anyway, I have been to Medjool a few times and have always enjoyed my experience. Mostly because of the roof top bar (Sky Terrace) though. I enjoy being outside as opposed to a crowded bar so this usually does the trick for me. The drink prices are reasonable but I believe there is a cover to get in at a certain part of the night. I don't mind that as much since there is a DJ.
The restaurant part of Medjool is just ok. I would recommend you eat somewhere else and come here for a drink or two and enjoy the views of the SF skyline.
Having drinks watching the sun go down over San Francisco is hard work. Its especially great when there is almost no one else around to bother you.
Thanks Medjool, for creating the vibrant bridge and tunnel scene we in the Mission get to experience every weekend. I met up with a friend for dinner and drinks, who had another friend with her, who couldn't join us because she had an (apprehensive) internet date with a guy she was meeting at Medjool. This totally clarified the unfortunate still standing presence of Medjool and what it's there for--uncomfortable internet dates.
started my night here. the food is good generally. the filo wrapped sea bass was amazing. the crowd was okay at first. at some hour, it suddenly became filled with every creepy guy in san francisco. i had to hide behind my guy friends.
I would give this 5 stars but they have a $10 cover, which I didn't pay. (Thank you Stanford Business students!) the rooftop has an amazing view! I love how spacious the dance floor is. The music does get eccentric towards the end, but hey, you wouldn't care after a couple of drinks! I would definitely be back here! :)
I feel like this place is in the wrong SF neighborhood.
It's absolutely huge, has some REALLY good tapas, a descent dance area, and comes complete with the skimpy dressed crazies.
CALLE OCHO!!!
Get there early, and you don't have to pay the cover to get into the place when it turns into a club. But seriously, while the tapas are pretty overpriced for what you get...they're really damn tasty.
We had really good service too, as we ordered drink after drink, and plate after plate. We also had some party members that were an hour late, and we still received great service.
I'd say for a really nice, laid-back, but classy venue...try this place. And the dancing is really fun to work that dinner off!!
This is a review of Medjool the RESTAURANT:
Did not come here by choice. There was nothing inviting about this restaurant, and the menu was definitely not enticing. I came with a large birthday group, and after we had ordered (which was a bit of an ordeal), it took a while for the food to come (expected). However, once the food started coming, it wouldn't stop coming! Everyone at the table had received their orders, yet the food continued to arrive. When the bill came, there were several drinks and food orders that were unaccounted for... SHADY!
The food itself was very meh. The meat, while fairly tender, came out cold. The halibut/gnocchi dish, which had sounded pretty decent in the description, was bland and overcooked.
DO NOT WANT. Will not be returning.
The rooftop at Medjool provides a loungey spot to grab a drink or two, if you're already done with dinner and it's still too early to get trashed bar hopping. (um, is 9pm on a Saturday early?!)
It's easy to find seating (even for our large party of 10) if you get here before 10pm. Plus you avoid the cover charge, which you can use towards....DRINKS! (cocktails are between $8-$10, expensive for being in the Mission) I stuck with my $8 sangria since I already got started on that one from cha cha cha.
The service is quite confusing, when my friend tried to order from the bar, they basically told him to go back to his table and wait for the server. Why?! Another time when my cousin flagged down a server to get more beer, he told her, "oh, I'm only here to give you guys water." What?!
The line for the ladies room is horrible! (as there is only one stall) It was a 15 minute wait. You're better off taking the elevator to the first floor and using the bathroom there. And would you believe there was a line for the men's room as well?!
The view from the rooftop terrace warrants no less than 3 stars for this review. For your best enjoyment, come early and leave when the crowd comes at 11 pm.

................................This review is for the rooftop only....................................
If you are lucky enough get in before ten to avoid the cover charge head up to the rooftop. The view is amazing! Grab a table, the server will be by eventually and relax and enjoy the time with friends and new ones. By eleven pm it is really crowded and the people are packing it in for the upcoming club scene.
Only two beers available. Stella and Bass.
The heat lamps will scald you if you sit too close to them and besides the weather is soo nice, you really don't need a table by them anyways.
If you need to use the restroom, forget about it! Its one at a time, even for men. Who's idea was that? Rarely do you see a line even for the men in a club or restaurant of this size.
For the area this club/ restaurant is in you must make a stop after dinner and have a drink on the rooftop. You must. Thanks again Janice C. :)
This place has it all...Rooftop deck overlooking SF, restaurant, DJ's, and it's connected to a hotel...wow! Three stories of entertainment
Don't think about the neighborhood you walk through to get here, think about the AWESOME view you'll see once inside and on top of the roof.
I had been here once before for dinner but wasn't aware of the rooftop bar. Can't believe I missed out on this!! Amazing view!!!! It absolutly made the experience.
The tapas and drinks are good. We had the $22 pitcher of sangria which I'd recommend and maybe 2 -3 tapas if you're looking for a lighter fare, perhaps pre-dinner.
OH MY GOSH! It was out of this world. I made reservations for a party of 11 on Sunday afternoon on the Sky Terrace. Part of our group was leaving for the airport, so I e-mail the restaurant regarding luggage storage. Eric wrote back and could not be more accommodating. Anything we needed, he and Frank made sure it happened. This really was over the top. Thanks guys.
When we arrived, our table was waiting for us. The server, Lisa, was the best. Personable, efficient, all the pluses.
The food was very reasonably priced and EVERYTHING was great. It's not easy to please a party of 11, but they did it flawlessly.
Good size piece of salmon over mushrooms. My friend said that was probably the best piece of salmon he's ever had and we live in Seattle. Salmon is like Starbucks to us. I had the sliders. They were presented so attractively, not to mention delicious.
This visit was a perfect 10! All of us want to go back.
PS Cash only on the roof, but there is an ATM. Just wish they took cards up there.
Great food, great atmosphere and excellent service.
What I also loved about Medjool was the space. It was so big and open. They take advantage of this, by turning the restaurant/lounge into a club in the later hours of the evening! If you're in the mood for that sort of thing, then it's perfect. The DJ was decent and had us on the dance floor. However, if you really want to be able to just sit and lounge and have conversation, this will definitely be a problem. It get's dark and very loud! The place also has two other floors to drink and hang out on.
I loved the tapas. I remember a tomato salad-type dish, and the Filo-wrapped Sea Bass were among my absolute favorites! This is also in a great location in the Mission. Also, if you get here before 10PM, you don't have to pay the cover for the club.
I think it loses a star, because I didn't care for the club transformation much. Other than that, wonderful experience. Many establishments could take an example to their excellent service skills. :)
