Mechicano's Mexican Food
4 reviews for Mechicano's Mexican Food
Now THAT'S what I mean when I say Tex-Mex! Queso (and no, I don't mean cheese-whiz, I mean queso), beans seasoned so right you'd be willing to sell your soul for another serving (but you won't have to, because the prices aren't bad), legitimately hot & tasty salsa that doesn't even PRETEND to look like pico de gallo, and all the tortillas are baked, not steamed or fried. The servers smile, and come by every 3 or 4 minutes just to make sure you're OK. I think my iced tea got topped off 6 or 7 times.
My mom told me that when the neighbors bring her here, she's not allowed to order, she's just told to eat whatever they put in front of her...and after trying this place, I can't say I blame her!
They also have a higher-end pottery business on the side. Nice items with good prices...if you're into that sorta thing. (I'm really not.)
I lived in Corinth, which is neighbored to Lake Dallas, for over a year and never went to this place. I moved to the HEB area and something compelled my boyfriend and I to stop into this place while we were on the road in Denton County. I am baffled that I never went into this place one time while I had every opportunity. The food is authentic and fantastic. My boyfriend and I visit once every couple of weeks! They have great breakfast food that is served all day (my favorite)! Don't let the outside fool you like it did me for over a year...this place is great and inexpensive. I would eat here over any major Tex-Mex chain, anyday. Service is great, timely, and the food is good. What more can you ask for!?
If your grandmother was Mexican... This is the food that she would cook for you. Lunch specials under $7.00. The salsa alone is worry coming, it has just the right amount of zip. There are only 6 booths and a few tables. It's cleaner inside than out. New paint bright (and plentiful) décor. Don't let the exterior fool you, the food is fantastic.
This place is so small that it doesn't even appear in the Yellow Pages! And if you drove by it without knowing anything about it, you'd keep going. I never would have tried it if it hadn't been recommended by a neighbor. So we tried it once and we were hooked! Family owned and operated (in fact, their 8 year old granddaughter was our waitress one night last week), this small hole in the wall is a bit of heaven if you live for authentic Mexican food. Always greeted by family members when you walk in the door, it only takes a few visits for them to know your drink of choice and the type of food you like. While we haven't tried everything on the menu, everything we have had has been delicious. My husband is fond of the beef burritos, and I especially like the fresh tasting chili con carne that comes over the cheese enchiladas. And their guacamole is almost as good as mine! By the way, if you're into Mexican pottery and artifacts, they also double as a gift shop.
