Yum. Thanks, Meat Spot, for providing me with tasty sandwiches and lunch treats.

If you're craving a hearty sandwich, don't feel like you need to stick to the menu specials. They'll make you a ham and cheese, or spice up a tomato and fresh mozzarella with some smoked turkey.

The guys are nice and quick, and they put some tasty meat on their sandwiches. Word.

Now, I know you're thinking, "Why in the effing mother-eff, would a vegan eat from Meat Spot?"

Well, because my work orders in every day and for a long time I wasn't in the habit of bringing my own lunch.

Anyway, the falafel wrap is dees and the hummus wrap (minus the feta) is doable. There's a good selection of nuts and chips and stuff inside. Just avoid the damn meat counter.

I shouldn't really single out the Meat Spot as the anti-vegan spot, because they have just about as many vegan options as the next place, but eff if this place doesn't disturb me. Thank Jebus I bring my own lunches these days.

I went here to grab lunch with Jim K. and we loved it. Though you can't eat in-house, FYI. I got the special that day which was roast beef & brie on multigrain bread w/onion,lettuce.tomato. I also grabbed grapes and a brownie on the way out.All items were totally fresh and delicous. Would def. go again.

I don't know how many times I've walked or driven by this place and never noticed it, but went there today with a friend for lunch. Great sandwiches and reasonably priced. I had the M.S. Favorite which was smoked turkey, ham, lettuce, feta, calamata olives, and greek dressing on a baguette. It was like a greek salad with turkey and ham on a roll. It was great. Everything looked good though. We grabbed some chips, some grapes, sodas, and a brownie, and ate it in Watertown Sq. Skip the D'Angelo's across the street for a sub and grab a sandwich here.

They also have meats like sirloin tips, chicken breasts, pork chops, and burgers to cook at home. I thought the prices were comparable or cheaper than the supermarket and probably better quality. You can also find canned goods, fruit, chocolate, and other sundries.

The Meat Spot is like an afternoon in the mountains, a breeze in the balsams, a book, a beverage, and you in your adirondack chair and put your feet up ottoman. Very tasty.

#1 on yelp? So there. This place is an excellent example of Truth.com.. but nothing's really smoking here except the mighty fione sandwiches.. HEY-o-OOOOOOO.

Straight down Mt. Auburn Street. Small, clean and quiet shop basically.

That simple looking Prosciutto Lovers Sandwich when ordered looks exactly like that. Prosciutto cut is perfect with tomato, mozzarella and a touch of basil on a chewy bread. Nothing else to it. Delicious.

Pickles in the sandwiches are also thinly sliced with crunch.

This real delicatessen of goodness should be on a corner somewhere in every town.. Watertown... WHY? Womp womp womp.

There is a place just like this in CT called Shoreline Foods and I miss it, more than sometimes.

Boar's Head Cold Cuts make such! a difference. The american cheese is what dreams are made of (if you dream about cheese- like I do).

The assorted items they sell: cracker's, congo bars, brownie's, things in jar's are top notch.

This is a very great basic sandwich place. Something hard to come by around these parts.

I had my favorite sandwich on a wheat wrap: grilled chicken, american cheese, red onions and pickles. It was perfect.

They have sandwiches that they invented themselves but I prefer mine.
Great food, nice people, AWESOME NAME

I especially made the trip over from Central Square twice in one week, just to try to Meat Spot.  The first time we got there past 6, and it was closed (I think closing time is 6pm is weekdays, 4pm on weekends).  Then we made it here again yesterday (via the #70 bus) and gorged ourselves on 4 sandwiches split amongst 3 hungry college students.

The service from the nice (Armenian?) men over the counter was so welcoming and impeccable that I left with a big smile on my face and a bigger growl in my stomach.  Ate across the street on a bench next to the Charles River; we got the Prosciutto, MS Favorite, Roast Beef w/Brie, and the Hot Pastrami.  Prosciutto was the hands-down favorite, the MS Favorite, not so much.  But the Roast Beef was also amazingly good w/the brie and I can't remember having a tastier, simple Pastrami sandwich.  Ahh, if only this place were closer, I'd be a regular!

It's a good thing that Subway poster boy Jared Fogle didn't go to college next to the Meat Spot. He probably would have never lost those 250 lbs that made him famous.

And if he never lost those 250 lbs, he certainly wouldn't get to prance around in those perfectly pressed pleated chinos and star in commercials with Kim Kardashian's boyfriend.

Yes, we truly are the land of opportunity! If Jared from Subway can become famous by eating crappy sandwiches, anything is possible.

I am not a loveable boob. I never wanted to be famous. And I certainly don't care for bread and lettuce sandwiches. I prefer a sandwich that has plenty of meat, cheese, and veggies on it.

Meat Spot has the whole sandwich game figured out. You're not going to get a bread and lettuce sandwich here. Nope, Meat Spot makes a serious sandwich.  It's fresh too.

There's nothing particularly complicated going on here - these guys just make some of the best sandwiches in the area.

found out about this place bacause of other Yelpers - happens to be a short drive from work, and I am always up for a solid sandwich.

Pretty good stuff - reasonably priced tasty sandwich and the meat selection and other stuff looked impressive.  Definitely will be back soon

i'm a vegetarian and i love that they have (at least) two veg-friendly sandwich options - i have dreams about the hummus & feta pita roll-up and the fresh mozzerella sandwich. i drive to watertown from jamaica plain sometimes because i crave them THAT MUCH! also, the service is phenomenal. everyone who works there is super nice.

No matter where you work and no matter how many dining options you have available to you at lunch time, you inevitably get sick of the "same old thing."

I never get sick of the Meat Spot though. In fact, I've never once turned down the offer when my co-worker suggests "Wanna hit the meat spot?" (maybe because I think it sounds a little dirty when he says it?)

I always get the Greek salad wrap with chicken but today I opted for a plain and simple roasted turkey sandwich on a crusty whole grain roll with spicy mustard, lettuce tomatoes & pickles. Damn, if it wasn't the best turkey sandwich I've had in weeks...maybe even months. (Co-worker swears by the prosciutto & mozzarella sandwich or the tuna).

There's always a line at lunch but they move everyone along quickly and the staff are some of the friendliest men in Watertown, I think.

They also have a small but very nice selection of gourmet foods which are fun to look at while you're waiting. I always end up with something I don't need but just must have (like a jar of "Bone Sucking Sauce" for example).

*Phenomenal* steak tips and marinated chicken kebab!  Everytime the wife's family comes over for dinner I always make sure to pick up meat from here to impress them.

I always get pre-marinated steak and chicken tips though you can pretty much get any cut of meat as is or marinated.  The angus steak tips are out of this world, with melt in your mouth tenderness, and the tangy marinade is stupendous as well.  The subs are also great,  made with all Boar's Head meat and fresh veggies and herbs.  The service is awesome; the Armenian owner is very helpful and one of the nicest guys around.  Very highly deserving of all the excellent reviews.

The Parma is fantastic treat. The fresh mozzarella and basil along with the super thin proscuitto on a baguette is a home run lunch option.
Super friendly butchers who whip up the sandwichs, also while your waiting you can scour the shelves for some sauces from all over the place.
No seating so the food has got to be to go.

I love the meat spot!! I love it so much I could marry it. And the sweet greek man (Italian?) who owns it. He's always got what you're looking for, even if it's not visible from the deli counter. Actually, the one drawback we've decided, is that you can't see all the various cuts of meat. They keep it all stored in the back. But it's all delicious. They also offer a nice assortment of specialty and foreign foods, like oils and vinegars, canned delicacies and fancy pasta.

They have a ten dollar credit card limit, just so you know.

Yelp 5 star reviews are well earned. I haven't had a sandwich this good in a looooonng time. See pictures of the Prosciutto Lovers Sandwich that I got there. It was as good going down as it looks in the picture.

My company just moved into Watertown Center so I plan on being a frequent visitor to The Meat Spot !

The only negative thing I can say (and I hope they fix this soon) is that there are no take out menus. My company recently wanted to pick up lunch there but they had no menu besides what was on the blackboard @ the shop. A simple 1 page website w/ current menu items would be excellent.

--Update--
Someone from my office transcribed the menu and I posted the photo - enjoy.

The Meat Spot is a sandwich shop that sells some amazing steak tips.  The flavor is... I can't decribe it... savory, salty, sweet... but oh so good.  You can buy the raw version of their steak tips marinated in their special spices for your own grilling!

The name makes this place sound, well, interesting. It is a Boars Head deli and sells excellent sandwiches, some don't even have any meat. The sandwiches are filling and affordable. They also sell some gourmet groceries and is a full service deli.

Need meat? These guys know meat. Sandwiches are big and fresh. It's not your father's butcher shop. No sawdust on the floors. You get gourmet options instead of fish cakes. Buy your steaks here for your cookout  too and you won't be disappointed.

The Meat Spot is an awesome place for sandwiches, and probably deli meat too (I have only purchased the sandwiches). They have a nice selection of sandwiches on their board that cater to meat-eaters and vegetarians, but mostly meat-eaters (go figure).
The service is speedy and friendly. Even if the line is to the door, which it may be on a Friday at noon-1pm, you can expect to have your sandwich within 10 minutes or so. And even though the sandwich makers are almost constantly busy, they are always polite and friendly.
There is a good selection of snacks and beverages to accompany your sandwich, my personal favorites being Hanks Rootbeer and Cape Cod salt and vinegar chips. I must also add that they carry a good amount of sodas that do not contain High Fructose Corn Syrup, if you're into that sort of thing. I should mention that this is a deli-grocery-type place, there is no seating, and they probably would prefer that you eat your sandwich elsewhere (like by the Charles River or at your office).

it's called the meat spot, and it's GREAT! everyone needs to have a good butcher, so if you don't have one, you need to come here. this guy is really wonderful.

in addition to the meat, they make some really excellent sammiches that are totally worth stopping in for. there's also a nice little selection of oils and bread and other various treats.

i wish he was open on sundays, there's probably a reason for that, but who can complain.. i love the meat spot!!
