Nice little place to stop for a quick lunch in the Riverside area if you don't mind a little grease.  They serve an assortment of hot sandwiches and pizza by the slice (or whole).  Eugene's has another location near the airport and a mobile truck that pedals the food in front of area businesses.

The food is nothing spectacular, but it gets the job done.  They usually have a daily special, which is a sandwich, side and a fountain drink.  Their sides consist of chips or a variety of pasta salads and the like.

Each main item is good but could be better.  The Philly Cheesesteak needs more cheese.  The pizza needs severe grease removal via napkin if you're the type of pansy who does that.  The meatball grinder could grind your insides less.

Let me preface this by saying I've not had their pizza. Let me also preface this by saying I've only ever eaten one thing here. The Italian sandwich is so good that I've never had the desire to try anything else. You've got to get it heated. I made the mistake of having it cold once and it's not the same sandwich at all. Fortunately, they're very consistent, so if I'm in the mood for that sandwich, I know it's exactly what I'll get.

The staff (at least at the Riverside shop) is incredibly friendly. They seem to do a pretty good lunch business (the only time I've ever been).

My wife had a roast beef heated sandwich and also loved it.

The location is a total hole-in-the-wall. I might not have gone had it not been recommended by a friend. Despite its somewhat run down appearance inside and out, the staff is very attentive to cleaning tables as soon as someone leaves, which is good since they only have around 8 tables.

The one downside: on the fountain, the only diet variety of soda they have is Diet Rite. What the heck is that, anyway? I haven't been forced to drink something like that since I was a kid and went to a friend's house who only had that crappy store-brand soda.
