I love the Meadowmere. My husband and I have been going here for several years. We got engaged here, we honeymooned here, and spent our 2nd and 5th anniversaries here.

The rooms are lovely. Even the least expensive room is higher end chain motel nice, the jacuzzi or fireplace rooms are better, and the suites, where we stayed most recently, are wonderful. Our rooms have always been clean and well maintained and nearly all of them have a little balcony or a patio. It's quite close to the centre of Ogunquit, Perkins Cove, and a short drive from Kennebunkport.

I've never specced out the pool, but the Roman Bath is a favourite. It's not hot tub hot, which is great if, like me, you're sensitive to temperature. For that reason, I haven't been to the outdoor hot tub, but my husband made a few trips and was very, very pleased with it. The only caveat about the Roman Bath is that there are often kids in there. The first time we went, it was fairly kid-free, but it hasn't happened since. I can't fault the resort for this; children under 14 are supposed to have proper supervision, but a lot of parents either ignore this and just send an older sibling or let their kids treat it like a mini-pool while they chatter away. If you're looking for complete, childfree relaxation, I'd recommend a jacuzzi room instead.

They do have movie in a small screening room near the Roman Baths, generally a kids' feature at 5p and an adult one at 8p. I've never made it that far, though.

The staff is almost invariably helpful and pleasant. We've only encountered one surly front desk clerk. I have a soft spot for the management, though. We arrived for our honeymoon just before New Year's in 2006 and had a several day reservation. I was very unlucky and happened to catch a norovirus. I woke up horribly sick New Year's Eve and there was absolutely no way I was going to make it through the rest of the stay. My husband went down to check out early and explained what was going on. Management offered to refund us part of what we paid regardless and if they could rent our room out, they'd refund us the full amount we paid, which they in no way had to do. That's one of the reasons we continue to go back-service like that has made an impression.

I've never been during peak season, but the rates are an absolute bargain in winter, especially if you go mid-week. There are quite a few different package stays to choose from, as well. I recommend the Eat, Drink, & Be Merry package, especially if you can swing mid-week vacation time.

There's no breakfast off-season, as several other reviewers have noted, and the little pub onsite appears to only be open week-ends. Depending on who you ask, recommendations are hit or miss. Definitely double-check to make sure things are open and within your preferred price range.

All in all, it's a great place to stay. I can't imagine staying anywhere else.

This is pretty cool locally owned hotel (who can imagine something locally owned anymore and not corporate?  Well that is why I like Ogunquit so much).

They call themselves a 'resort' and maybe in the Maine sense it is, but it comes pretty close.  They have different buildings, maybe 4 or 5 of them, and even in the different buildings the rooms are different.  I got a huge room, just so happened, very nice as in it had the usual acoutrements.

There is an outdoor jacuzzi, an indoor pool, another indoor jacuzzi which is huge and has a Roman theme.  Believe me even in Rome they do not have a jacuzzi like this, and if you've ever been to Rome if a Lazio supporter saw this they would be jealous.  It is across from the 'movie theatre' which is quite large for a hotel, I didn't plan on seeing any movies but it is a nice touch.

Awesome workout room too, if I stayed there any longer I would end up looking like Lou Ferrigno.  It was that awesome, for a hotel at least.  Gym tan laundry, hey they even have a laundry area next to an arcade/pinball/pool table set-up, right down from the bar staffed by Jamaicans who play the latest in Island reggae.  Maybe it is like a resort.  I really had a blast here and did not expect it.

This is a beautifully quaint resort-style hotel that seems to be marketed for couples and small families.

The rooms itself seem a bit outdated, but are quite clean. Nice that they provide free wifi.

The people at the front desk are pleasant, though the first one we encountered had a bit of an attitude. ( And don't listen to them about where to go for lunch! Trust Yelp instead)

They have an outdoor hot tub (wonderful since it was cloudy, dreary and cool the first day we arrived) and two indoor pools. In addition, they have a pretty large indoor gym, which has a few outdated machines, but overall is extremely nice and clean. We didn't get to experience it, but they say that they have an indoor movie theater! Perfect if the weather is bad and there is nothing else to do.

A really great perk they provide is the free continental breakfast which, while not amazing amazing, is pretty stellar IMO. I really do enjoy the little blueberry muffins they provided with their buffet style breakfast.

And you know what? It is super close to town, so you can very well walk to the closest attractions ( such as Perkins Cove and Marginal Way.)

I enjoyed my stay here - it was a bit different than the normal hotels I stayed at, but this had such a nice family feel to it that it is worth it.

Husband and I spent our one year anniversary at Meadowmere.  We had a really nice jacuzzi suite on the top floor.  We went to the Roman bath once, that was very nice.  Staff was incredibly nice.  Place is walking distance to the center of town and to the beach.

Now the cons: no free breakfast in the off-season...not cool, if you really can't give breakfast, at least provide a voucher for a place that can!  Also, we were kinda bummed that they didn't do anything for our anniversary.  Not that we expected it, but it definitely would have been a nice touch (especially since they place was pretty empty on the Wed and Thurs that we were there).

I've stayed at the Meadowmere twice and was pleased both times. This place is affordable and its a resort-style hotel. The staff is nice and this place is very, very clean. There is so many choices in pools/hot tubs. There is an indoor roman bath, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool and outdoor hot tub (which is awesome at night, especially with a few glasses of wine!)

The free continental breakfast is really what keeps me coming back to Meadowmere. Its a really good continental breakfast too; not your usual 2 types of bagels and some muffins kind you're probably used to. They have an awesome spread and its all really delicious.

The location is close enough to the center of town, the beach and Perkins cove. Meadowmere is definitely worth it for its amenities and value!

I am a fan of the meadowmere - we've been multiple times.

Nice outdoor hottub.  Nice indoor one too.  And the heated pool is usually a plus.

But how can you turn the heat off in the pool on the Sunday of school vacation week????  Seriously???  1 star for that.  Hopefully it was an unexpected mechanical thing.  All I know is my son was shivering immediately upon contact and therefore we spent 7 minutes at the pool.  Not happy about that.  But then again I didn't complain to anyone.

    OK - Rant over.

So the Meadowmere is a decent hotel.  Location is good and we usually go there in the offseason to escape with friends.  Play some cards, have some drinks.  It's got a pub right on site and usually live music at night.  There's also a game room which is a bit run down but it works for the kids.

Seems they're in the process of updating the rooms so that's a nice plus.  The family suite we stayed in was a bit more $ but it was nice to have the space.

Shockingly affordable for a resort style hotel. My wife and I hadn't lined up a place to stay for the night on our drive through Maine. We found this place while looking at the chamber of commerce website for Ogunquit and gave it a shot.

For our $65 we got a nice smoke free room, breakfast the next morning, cable TV, indoor heated pool, and (drum roll) free wi-fi. I practically wept to be reunited for free with my beloved internet.

The only down side was that the bed in our room was ridiculously firm. It was like sleeping on an ironing board. My back was killing me the next morning, but I kept smiling about the internet anyway.
