Me Bar is a hidden gem. I have worked at K-town for many years and never discovered this place until recently. It is on the 14th Floor of La Quinta Hotel.

I strongly recommend you to get there early, like 6 or so before it gets crowded.

It is good for dates and hanging out with friends. It is affordable and I got a pink Prosecco. I never had this pink one before.

I have been to many roof top bars like Peninsula and 230 Fifth and I would go back to Me Bar in a flash. Why? Well...
1. Me Bar is no frills.
2. There is popcorn on every table
3. Me Bar does not charge premium for its drinks like the other two places.
4. I like how the Bartender called us "bye kids" yet we were both much older than him.
5. It is good for dates.
6. Also good for post-shopping drinks before taking the train back.

Mé Bar sits on the roof of the La Quinta on 32nd St (near 5th Ave), nestled under the shadow of the Empire state building. Such views generally inspire proprietors to peruse pretentious and preposterously priced potables. Not so at Mé Bar, where its calm and cozy ambiance is complemented by an excellent drink selection at reasonable prices. For added effect, they've got indoor and outdoor seating (with a retractable roof), making it an exceptional destination year round.

Others have noted that Mé Bar is limited by its single bathroom. All good things come to those who wait, and in the interim, you should use the opportunity to chat with fellow boozers and pick up another round from the bar.

Every trip to the 14th flr up those little cramped elevators in the La Quinta Inn feels like Christmas morning.

Will I be able to score a primo seat with a grand view of the Empire State building? (equivalent of getting an awesome Transformer or a new bike)

Or will the place be mobbed with nary room to move or get a drink? (equivalent of getting a Biblical board game from the Fundie relatives)

As it's impossible to gauge the level of occupation from the street, half the fun and half the disappointment is in that moment when the elevator door opens.

Low key cozy ROOFTOP bar with an outdoor space and a small indoor space. Nice place to meet a friend or date for a casual drink.

The prices are reasonable and much cheaper than the neighboring ktown bars. They make a reasonably stiff drink and fill the wine glass up.

The only downside is that there can be a wait for the 1 uni-sex bathroom.

For those looking for an event location, they work with you to give party/groups drink specials.

I have to give 1 star for the view and I'm not sure why its called HH if they didn't have any drink specials. I guess the place is good for meetup and 1 quick shot before going out to party. The view is nice but I have seen better.

Pros: Nice smack in middle of Ktown 33rd.

Cons: No specials, crappy drink (all juice).

**Not sure why its called Me Bar in Korean because I didn't see any soju or k staff around.

I am really not sure about this place. I had a high expectation, so when I got there, I got more upset. Too crowded, too small.

The empire state building is right on my face. Realy close.

Not romantic. Do you really get comfy there? I would like you to show me how.

Love Me Bar.  Love the drinks.  Love the fact that it's unpretentious.  Love its proximity to all the bibimbop goodness.

Only gripes?  Dislike the single bathroom and the inevitable long queue.  Dislike how slow the elevator can be.

Keep it classy, drink at La Quinta. The views were pretty spectacular, drinks were OK priced for Manhattan standards, but the queens bartending were great! If my drunken memory serves me right, we were chatting about Bebe Zahara.

Who'd have thought? All at a La Quinta.... and speaking of budget hotels, where were all the hookers?

A rooftop bar on top of La Quinta budget hotel in Koreatown. Much like the hotel, it's very low key. In fact it's probably the diviest rooftop bar in the city, and it has the closest view of the Empire State Building. All types of people come here, but overall it's as a down-to-earth crowd you'll ever find 13 stories up (they're superstitious and go from the 12th floor to the 14.) If you want food just ask for the folder full of delivery menus (plenty of good Korean food around, like Pocha 32 which is right next door). Drinks are very accessible, just like the staff. Plus, the narrow glass enclosure provides seating during the winter.

Up until last weekend I would have thought rooftop dive bar was an unfortunate oxymoron.  I'm so glad to have been proven wrong!

Of course it's on the rooftop of a La Quinta in Koreatown.  I wouldn't have it any other way.

My only gripe is that the outside does fill up fast and you have to be a hawk to try to get out there if someone leaves.  Also, one single stall bathroom for the entire bar?  Otherwise, it's completely non-pretentious, has an amazing view, and looks like a suburban white picketed patio hanging at the base of the empire state building.

A somewhat hidden roof top bar in midtown at the top of the La Quinta hotel. It makes for a beautiful spot to go from sunny relaxing happy hour to happening spot at dusk lit up by the reflecting lights off the neighboring Empire State Bldg.

That's really all you need to know.

I wanted to like this bar as I have a love for rooftop bars, but this really wasn't anything special.  The first problem was the unpleasant smell that emanated from the bar when we first walked in.  If the terrace hadn't been open we would have left rather than continue to be assaulted by the odor.  Once outside you couldn't detect it anymore, which was good.

The view, apart from the close-up perspective on the Empire State Building, doesn't really have much to recommend it.  The walls on the terrace are too high to look at anything other than the taller buildings immediately surrounding the area.  The Empire looms large and close but prepare to look straight up to take in its majesty.  This got to my neck after awhile.

The drinks were ok and not unreasonably priced but the service personnel seemed bored and apathetic.  I probably won't return.

So... we were looking for a rooftop bar... yelp suggested Me Bar, so we gave it a try since we were in the neighborhood anyway.
While strictly speaking this place is a rooftop bar- it is not really what you would expect from it... not really any views (except for the Empire State bldg next door).
Also, the average age of the other guests at that day was in their (very) early 20-s. Not a big deal for us (mid 30-s), but we really felt like at some spring break party...
Cocktail prices were very reasonable, though (guess we paid $16 + tip for 2 margaritas).

Eh, not too sure about all the great reviews here..

Ok, so it's not 230 Fifth or any of that genre.. but it's also not Plunge or any of THAT genre.

Which essentially means that although you can avoid the douchebags, Jersey girls and lots of spandex, you're also left with a partial-view of the city (and I'm telling you, the rest of that view is dirty industrial) and crappy drinks- crappy beer, crappy wine, crappy mixed drinks.  Terrible wine knowledge by the bartender (but 1 star for him and Me Bar's staff being genuinely NICE, +1 star for the sometimes cool people you'll meet here- think music kids).  And crappy seating, dirty environment.  Wouldn't eat the free snacks brought out to our table, but my friends dug in after a few drinks.

So overall, I guess I'm trying to say that I think this place is pretty crappy.  Crappy and creepy, for the middle-aged creeps preying on my friends and me.

This rooftop bar is located on top of the La Quinta Inn right next to the Empire State Building. We arrived a few minutes before opening at 5:30 PM on a Saturday and waited with a few other early arrivers. On a nice day, this is a great place to hang out for a while and relax while escaping from the city. After about an hour, the bar started to fill up and unfortunately enough people started smoking to make it unpleasant (outside at least, where smoking is allowed). To avoid the smoke, either arrive early like we did, or sit inside.

In need of a cocktail after the Elite Event on Wednesday (you know i never actually get to drink at these things...), I met some friends at this tiny rooftop bar on the 14th floor of the La Quinta Inn in Korea Town.  What I like most about this tiny patio is that it's really not trying too hard unlike some other rooftop places (ahem, 230 Fifth).  It just is.

And what it is is a cozy relatively inexpensive little place to grab a drink in this neighborhood with an imposing view of the Empire State Building.  It was crowded enough on a Wednesday night to suggest that it gets rather packed on the weekends (and other reviewers have mentioned this as well), so I guess I'd stay stick to the weekdays. But if you find yourself in this part of town (and admittedly, I rarely do), this is a great place for a drink.  Also, they have Hendricks Gin, so that's 4 stars right there.

You know, King Kong really must have been pretty big to climb all the way to the top of the Empire State Building.

That's what was going thru my head as I was looking at the view from the Me' Bar. Located on top of La Quinta Hotel in K-Town, this place definitely has the best view I've seen in a rooftop bar. Then again, this is the only rooftop bar I've been to so cut me some slack.

The ambience really isn't the greatest. The chairs are rather uncomfortable, the tables are of the backyard garden variety, and the drinks aren't all that great. But man, just looking and wondering what kind of gorilla can climb the empire state building is enough to make me come back here again and again.

I find rooftop decks something of a get away in the city, but some are just too hard to get into.  No so at Me Bar.  This little...and I MEAN little roof top deck is quite cozy and situated in the heart of Korea Town.

Decor is simple to basic and the bar is actually housed inside a small enclosed area that has some indoor seating as well.  The bartenders (at least the times I've been there) have been quick with a drink and a smile.

Pricing and selection of alcohol is good, though it can get very crowded trying to order around 5pm.  I'd recommend drinking outside AND try and sit on the wall opposite of the bar...the best views actually (see below).

The views are adequate, though you are located just below the Empire State building which is great to look at, though you may hurt your neck looking at it too long *grin* as it TOWERS over the area.

The clientele can be a mix of tourist and locals, so it may be a crap shoot as to what you'll find on the deck at any particular day.  But if you want a roof top deck that doesn't have lines or costs to get to, then this is the one for you.

This bar doesn't have great drink specials, but it's a great location. Who would've though of coming to a La Quinta Inn in the middle of Korea Town would be so fun?

The rooftop is great in the summer, and it has a hideaway-type feel. It gets REALLY packed around 6pm on weekdays though, and there's a long line for the elevator just to get up to the bar. If you go around 5:30pm though, you'll get a seat and be set.

The bartenders are great too- really nice!

the Me Bar, "Spend your night with Me."

Indeed I will.

A simple place to hang out.  Imagine your best friend has a rooftop next to the Empire State bldg, and it was the designated spot to chill out.  You got the Me Bar.  It can get pretty busy on weekend nights, but not to a point you'd be cramped.  On weeknights though, it's just perfect- especially during the summer.  You can usually find a couple relaxing on the benches that have throw pillows on em, which really adds to the laid-back neighborhood setting.

The bartenders are always very down to earth and sociable.  Drinks are always made pretty well and the prices aren't ridiculous.  It's a nice way to top off a meal from the Korean restaurants below.

So Me Bar, its a place you can call your own (on most nights).  You'll usually find locals, and once, I was there when a Broadway-hopeful boy was there practicing his tunes while his father drank a Heineken. It got annoying real quick.  So keep this place our secret; its my little spot under the tree called the Empire State.

Me like Me Bar, me like it a lot...there are a handful of rooftop bars in NYC but few rooftop bars that are both divey and chill spots...Me Bar is just that...I've been here during happy hour on a Thursday or Friday and those nights you will definitely want to avoid this place a stinky jar of khimji...that said, the trick to making this bar yours, i.e. all about ME is that you come when the weather's nice on an off night...Mondays, Sundays, Tuesdays, I think you got the drill...if you do that, then let me ask you what's better than hanging out with a friend for a cheap drink or two outside with a nice breeze right under the Empire State bldg?  Now that's what I call summertime and the livng is easy.

YES it's crowded
NO there's no table service
YES there is a great view of the ESB (you're basically under it)
NO the drinks are not expensive
YES there are even some old-time drinkers here (less than 4 tooth minimum)
NO you will not find a double-whip frappachinitino-tini here
YES you should come early
NO it's not full of tourists
YES it's great
NO you should not leave and expect to come back in - they are strict once they are at capacity

Rooftop bar winner by a landslide.

Me' Bar is simplicity amidst the midtown craziness and a breath of fresh air during the spring fever bar scene.  The outdoor seating area reminds me of being on the back deck during summer time.  It's above a La Quinta in Korea Town.  So this instantly deters snobs.  Score for me!

It isn't fancy with breathtaking views nor packed with strikingly trendy people.  It's not even that big.  It is what it is: a chill bar with an airy outdoor seating area where you and your friends can drink amongst yourselves and enjoy the spring weather.  And I happen to love it.

Silent Auction Date 2007
(a date i WAS aware of, btw)

where do you meet up in Koreatown that isn't too crowded- but in center of the neighborhood? it's quiet, it's charming...  the drinks are pretty good. i met up my handsome date Steve M. for a night on the town. he ordered me a Whiskey Sour. it was pretty good. it was a hot and humid day in the city... but hanging out on a rooftop in the middle of a bustling and hectic K-town- i forgot where i was for a moment.

the bar isn't that big at all. but the space is cozy. nothing chic or sleek... not sexy or elegant... just a bunch of iron tables w/ heavy ass iron seating. the walls were lined with throw pillows.. it kind of looks like a Luau. the place is so small- but it's a great spot to just hang around the area and get away from the chaos for a moment.

Was here last year for some Spring benefit, nice enough ambience, and the view is unbeatable. Drinks were a little on the expensive side and i think they ran out of regular highball glasses because they started serving alcohol in plastic cups for the rest of the night.

One complaint: The elevator was mad slow and since the bar is on the 14th floor of La Quinta hotel, you can't exactly run down the stairs if you're wearing heels. We were trying to get away from someone and it made the elevator wait a bit harrowing. Also, the elevator doors had a mind of their own and were opening and closing on the same floor for about 10 times in a row before deciding to descend.

i was here last tuesday - a beautiful evening, and this is a great bar to enjoy a new york ambience. I wish it didn't have that high white fence cutting off the urban view, but.....

so it was packed, not obnoxiously so, but scrounging enough seats was a bit of a mission... accomplished - but still - i can't imagine what a friday eve must be like

it's a bit sceney for my taste, but it really didn't bother me much. the bartenders knew their stuff, although ther 1st cocktail was a little weak, when he saw i understood cocktails (and tipped) the next 2 were stronger. I also liked that even though the place was really hopping the bartender remembered what i was drinking when i came to order another. (he also understood how good a gin hendricks is, and not to overpower it with the mixer)

long story short - i will be back. I wish i had some reason to be in K-town more often , the way it has exploded with food and drink options since i used to frequent that 'hood is amazing.

I like this place - it's unique and the crowd seems down-to-earth. But as with some down-to-earth crowds, they tend to stay in their own circles and not "mingle around too much." I mean, what's the point of me going to a bar if I just want to chat in a circle with friends, I can do that in my own apartment.

I think I went on a bad night, I had high expectations for this place and feel that it's got great potentials. After all, people who come here are NOT at all preppy.

In the present essay I will demonstrate the correlation between patient and place, when trying to understand the spatial necessities of the ego.

Let's look at the case of Subject Me.

Subject Me is an extrovert type bar of classical sanguine attributes whose pathological delusions of grandeur has rendered him unwilling to remain another run-of-the mill spot for drinking. This is in part to subject Me's small physique as well as his affirmative name, which has created a strange introvert/extrovert superiority complex with astounding behavorial results.

In order to appease his ego, Subject Me has sought refuge on an ethnical spatial backyard in New York, therefore attempting to attribute himself a mantra of rarity and uniqueness by being the only non-Korean bar in Korean Town. However, taking into consideration the possibility of scorn and ostracizement from his Korean peers, Subject Me's super-ego quickly acted on anticipation of said rejection by hiding under the sponsoring of a neutral stablishment in K-town; a Hotel.

By realizing this, Bar Me had achieved acceptance by proxy, and distinction from the crowd by handing a rejection before being rejected. Only one task remained, that of claiming his superiority in his chosen profession and battlefield.

Bar Me thought out many possible options, and concluded that being at ground level and announcing himself through neon lights and other ad boxes would be "lowering" himself to "petty" standards. Nonchalantly he decided to take the elevator to the very last floor of the hotel and place himself high; higher than all his peers in 32nd St, to stake his claim with a small open courtyard and a killer view of the soaring Empire State; he sought to link his name and position with that of the famed towering skyscrapper. As a final touch of rareness, he imported a great selection of seasonal Hawaiian beers and gave his bar a "tropical" feel. His egomaniacal orgasm was secure, and in his eyes he had become a primus inter pares.

Last time we examined the patient, he was enraptured with his own achievement, chanting over and over again: ME, ME, ME

We highly suggest you to come and examine the patient yourself, but don't forget to consider a 3 1/2 dose of rateamine just in case.

So totally overhyped.  Crowded, small, and the fence outside makes me feel like I'm in someone's backyard about to get my BBQ on.

Friday after work 5:45 PM - waited in line for almost 30 minutes.  Took an elevator to the 14 floor.  Sat down on a couch for about 10 minutes, felt claustrophobic and decided to leave.

This is one of the best secret spots in the city and is definitely an oasis in the desert of midtown.  Best times to go are in the middle of the week, or during the day on the weekends when you can pretend it's your private roof deck.

This place is special, and is everything I love about this city. It's this tiny rooftop bar in the heart of Koreatown, and when you go there it feels like you're in on a secret - you've got to go to the top of La Quinta Inn to get there, and the place is relatively unknown.

They've got a decent happy hour (lasts until 8 PM, I think), but more importantly, an open terrace with tables and free popcorn. Benches line the perimeter of the terrace, I think there were white Christmas lights up when I was there - it's just a great place to spend a warm evening with friends.

It's not the sort of place you'd want to go in the winter or on a cold night - the sheltered part of the bar is small, with maybe 5 hightop tables. But the bartenders are very, very nice - one of them looks like the DJ with the long dreadlocks and snaggletooth from Zoolander.

Cozy, unpretentious rooftop bar.
Didn't pay for drinks so I don't know what the prices were like.
Good mix of non-Asian people.
Came here on a Friday night, around 9:30ish I think, and we were able to grab a huge chunk in the corner.

The ambience is like a chill, outdoor picnicky space.

There's also a bathroom in the basement. And yes, the bathroom line is kinda ridiculous.

Stepped in on a Sunday night at around 10:30pm and grabbed the last table available.  I would guess there are around 15 tables total and some bench seats with pillows around the outer white wall.

The weather was perfect and the bourbon was poured just right by the friendly bartender there.  I also was told by him that the music they play there is strictly from the current bartenders ipod (some excellent tunes were played that night, let me tell ya).

Loved how the place really was kind of like a secret hideout (I would assume one wouldnt think walking by a La Quinta Inn would strike images of a cozy rooftop bar above it).  I remember being in the elevator on the way up to the 14th floor thinking if I was in the right place.

Went here this week for happy hour.  While waiting for my friend in the hotel lobby, I heard numerous people commenting about how secret the place was.

There is a wait to get up there, firstly because of the only 2 elevators the hotel has, but also because the bar is SUPER tiny. The outside of the bar is bigger than the inside. And it gets CROWDED. Crazy crowded.

I really didn't see what the fuss was about. The view? What view? There's walls up on each side. The only view you get is by craning your head looking straight up at some office buildings.

While it's a nice place to surprise someone in Koreatown, this might be a better place when it's not happy hour, a tad bit later in the night. Maybe then it would look....prettier with the lights? I don't know.

I just wasn't very impressed, especially after some guy shook up his Corona while trying to open it (?) and it sprayed all over my dress and he didn't even apologize. The crowd was half hipster-but-we-have-to-have-corporate-jobs and half old yuppies.
