if you happen to be passing through oregon city, the mcloughlin house is a unique american treasure worth poking around. it was moved from its original location to a wonderful hillside overlooking the river. the moving process is documented in photos and for the time of the move, it was quite a feat. on the property is a fountain donated by the city and a cannon that was originally to be shipped to john mcloughlin himself, but never arrived, having fallen overboard on unloading. this site is also the resting place of dr. mcloughlin and his wife. inside the rooms have been recreated to a feel similar to what would have been lived in circa 1850 and there are lots of events centered around the grounds. check out the links below or stop by for more information, you wont be disappointed!
