Just received a call from Eric, who is a teacher at McInnis. I am giving ERIC and the other pro's here an aditional star because they read my review and wanted to make up for my unsatisfactory first experience.
I've seen Eric out there teaching when practicing and he seems like a good instructor.
Thanks for the call and the offer. That kind of professional courtesy is very appreciated.

$7 for 48 balls at the driving range.
Two tiered levels to find a spot and not get frustrated with your swing.
Minus one star for the astroturf on the driving range.
Minus one star cause I have a baseball swing of a follow through.
Is hitting a distance of 90 with a 5 iron good?

Yay! I'm a fan, because there is no other mini golf or batting cages in Marin. I used to come here as a kid a lot, but now I come here with the kids I babysit for. The mini golf leaves a lot to be desired. It's not great, but it's good enough for a poke. And the batting cages are sweet! There's nothing more satisfying than making contact with a baseball. man it feels good to hit a baseball. The driving range is fun too. This is a great place to take a big group of kids. It's cheap entertainment, and if it's sunny everyone's happy.
We took my in-laws to The Club for their anniversary last night - they liked it; mission accomplished.
We were seated right away (I always appreciate that).
The prime rib was to order. The creamed spinach was creamed. The baked potato was small.
It's adequate for what we needed - last minute. Kind of a weird layout - looks last minute. The bathroom was very truck-stoppish.
Our waiter was pleasant and engaging.
Five ate for $179.xx (5 cocktails) $215 after tip.
But the golfers seemed overjoyed, so it's got an audience.

I met up with three of my friends yesterday to take on this course. They recently renovated the driving range so I was pretty excited to check it out. It's a double Decker with plenty of room for you to find a space to set up and tee off for some practice swings. It's nice but very bright (neon green) and at first sight it was a little distracting but I quickly overcame the brightness once I got my shades on.
The price of a bucket of balls was a little on the high side ($7 for 45, & 14 for 90) to say the least considering that I only pay $8 for bucket of 108 at Diablo Creek in Concord when I go visit my folks but I guess that's the price you pay to practice in Marin...LOL
The course was nice. It offers a couple of par 4's, couple of water hazards and a few bunkers nothing that is extremely difficult since the course is pretty much flat. Good for beginners if you make a mistake it is not that hard to recover.
With that being said the only complaint I have is with the people on the course. Like I said I met up with three of my friends for a fun game of golf. Three of us are decent players and the fourth was a newbie who has never played before. We chose the course because it didn't seem that difficult to play. Throughout the entire game we were rushed by the old geezers behind us to hurry up the game play saying that we were slowing them down. What a bunch of asholes!! We shouted back at them that we had a newbie and what the hell did they have to do late Sunday afternoon that they needed to hurry through a quick nine holes golf? They even sent one of the poor workers out to try and make us play faster. We told the guy that we were more than happy to let them play through but he said that wasn't an option.
Needless to say that put a damper on the mood of our play and in many ways I played just a bit slower and hit the ball wide (ooops!) out of spite.
Other than that the service at the pro shop and the restaurant was great. The food was good and the staff was very friendly.
I don't think I will be going back to play golf for a while. If I had to choose a place to play nine holes it would be ironwood in Golden Gate Park. The staff there is always friendly and the people that play the course are just as nice. If your game play is slow the people there will never tell you to hurry up.
I am giving it an overall score of three because the old inpatient geezers that play this course. My true rating would be a 4 for service, 3 for the course, and 1 for game play and atmosphere.
Been eating here 5 times per year for the past Ten. Food has gotten remarkably better since 1997. Big portions, good flavors. Low prices for the quality and room ambience. Service is always friendly, fast and accurate. Menu is Americana with some Hawaiian, Italian, Asian and Mexican "fusion" elements thrown into the mix.
Full bar manned by one of the best bartenders. He's from Scotland and he can mix the perfect Martini. Wine list is small - 20 bottles of the usual California suspects. Price mark-up is reasonable (for a restaurant, anyway).
Go for dinner and avoid the municipal 9-hole golf lunch crowd.

I can't comment on the food here, I come for the driving range. Balls are 45/$6, which is really on the high end considering you can get 280/$17 down at the San Mateo public course. Oh well, the views are nice on the two level structure, which includes free tees and a nice view. There aren't any accuracy targets or sand pits, just a dirt field with wood distance markers. The weather here is universally good, the one time I went in late November around 6pm was pretty miserable with the cold and wind, but that experience just served to emphasize how nice it is usually is.
They have a pretty big putting practice area, and I guess their mini course is decent too from all the traffic it gets. There's batting cages too.
Beers are $4, and no one cares how much you drink out there. ha ha!
PS: If you're using the range, don't put your tokens in the machine too fast, or it will eat them up. Wait until it finishes dispensing until you insert your next one.

No comment on the restaurant. I don't know where to start with how bad I thought this place was a few years back, and to be fair, I haven't eaten here in awhile.
This place *does* have a rocking driving range: 2 levels, lots of space, & nice views. It's worth the drive from San Fran. Plus, if you still want to keep swinging, they have batting cages too. Solid.
The driving range was recently (with in the last year) redone and fixed up.
The choice to go astro turf seemed a little lame at first look but when your ball kicks up some fake dust (little rubber pellets) and lets you see where it landed easily it makes a difference. The new target greens are easy to see and offer different locations to aim for other than just straight down the middle. The only thing is the little Geo Tracker that is used to gather the used golf balls up doesn't come out often enough for my tastes. My favorite game to play at the driving range is hit the cart gathering the used balls, so I'd prefer a constant moving target but other wise its fine.
There always seems to be a shortage of rubber tee's, but just ask them at the cashiers for one when your buying your token and that problem is solved. The ground floor is usually crowded, but the second floor is better suited for teaching the less experienced golfer how to hit and swing with out the pressure of the "quiet on the tee box" attitude of the first level. Go enjoy some swings and then get a bite to eat at the restaurant, or go play 9 holes on a fairly short, as in not a ton of holes to bring out the driver course!
Good place to keep up the golf game at with a reasonably priced round of 9 for the area. FORE! stars
The driving range is a double decker with very nice views. They have a machine that records your swing so you can practice your techinique. There is a huge parking lot and plenty of stalls to hit balls. I haven't tried the course yet, but I will soon, considering the fact that they closed the driving range for renovation. There's also a spacious putting area if you just want to putt around.

We live close by and have been here a few times a year for the past 5 years. It's definitely a locals place. We don't go expecting a fine dining experience. Just some solid CA/Asian/Mexicali food served in a casual atmosphere. It's especially accommodating if you have kids (which we do). They have a kids menu. Outside is nice when the weather permits if you don't mind the whack! of golf balls being hit nearby from the range or sitting on plastic furniture. I like the macadamia nut crusted petrale sole and the grilled salmon salad. Mother's Day is a mad house but it's quite reasonable and the variety is huge. The bathrooms could definitely use an upgrade.
I use this restaurant for business lunches because of the wide range of menu items that cater to most people. Good for vegetarians as well. They normally seat us quickly without a reservation and we can get out within the hour. Seems pretty good to me for a club house in a golf course.
