Neighborhood: Southeast PortlandTaking your Mercedes in for service is usually the stuff of high anxiety, securing bank loans, and a week-long wait for an appointment. Thankfully, this is not the case at MBI Inc.!
I first heard about these guys when I searched the Mercedes forums for a local repair shop once the warranty on ol' "Silver Bullet" ended. I very much appreciate the service at the Mercedes dealer in town and always had good experiences there, but the prospect of spending "dealership money" for everyday repairs is hard for me to justify. The prices at MBI are not only fair and reasonable, they have always been lower than the originally quoted price. I'm not sure if this is an anomaly by some chance or if it's a rather ingenious method Sig and the boys have for keeping their customers very happy. Either way, I love it! Who wouldn't?
The guys in the shop are exceptionally well versed with the workings of our cars and diagnose problems accurately and quickly. The repairs are always professional, the staff friendly, and best of all my car isn't covered in oil, dirty boot prints or any of the other minor frustrations of non-dealership garages. The actual service is just as wonderful. I generally drop my car off the evening before my appointment so they have it in the morning, and on at least one occasion it was done that same day... the day BEFORE my appointment. They also helped me out when I had an emergency repair and had to leave the car in their lot without an appointment. I didn't expect any special favors and planned to wait a few days but they had a slot the next day and had my car ready by noon. Incredible!
Best of all, I've never paid for an unnecessary repair at MBI. Many shops tend to go with the most obvious repair first, then work from there until the problem is cured, all on your dime of course. MBI takes the time to accurately diagnose the problem and repair or replace the offending part.
One side benefit of a visit to MBI is the chance to see so many wonderful vintage Mercedes in the flesh. It's a comfort to know that with professionals like the folks at MBI doing the work, these treasures will be on the road for many years to come. Sometimes people's passions aren't always evident, but Sig's shine brightly in the form of his business, and I am thankful for that.

I *love* this shop. They're my new mechanic.
I drive a 13 year old say-deez...and the alternator went out on a Saturday evening.
I don't get exactly why there aren't ANY mechanical shops open on a Sunday, they'd make a killing...but that's another gripe for another day.
I took it to this shop Monday morning, and within an hour and a half they confirmed what I thought it was....3 hours later I had my car back. And he's running beautifully. (Yes. I said he. It's a bit cliche to call it a she...so I went against the grain. :D)
Clean, fast, courteous and professional...this was the best experience I've had with my limited time with cars. And the prices are fair. When I got my bill, it worked out to in between 50-60$ an hour for labor. You cannot touch that in this town! Usually, it's more like 70-75$...even more at a dealership! :(

Excellent shop for old mercedes. Ours happened to break down in Portland, 3 hours from home, and the first shop we pulled into recommended these folks. They let us leave the car there while it was being fixed, and kept it for several weeks while we scheduled a trip to come pick it up.
I don't know much about cars, but I felt that they were fair, the prices seemed reasonable, and they were very matter of fact about what needed to be done. My car drives much better after doing some minor repairs.
