Beautiful hotel in a great location.  We stayed here for two nights to celebrate our anniversary.  We thought it was a great value for the price.  We booked directly through the hotel's website and got the AAA rate on a Deluxe Suite.

The Good:
- #1 favorite part is that the hotel is pet friendly.  Not just they allow pets, but it was only a $25 fee for our 2 small dogs for our entire stay. Total.  They brought a pet bed, food and water dish, treats and two bottles of water to our room 10 min after we checked in.  Everyone was super friendly about us having the dogs around the property and it made our lives so much easier.
- Our room was beautiful and clean.  Nice bedding, nice bathroom, nice big flat screen TV's everywhere (inc the bathroom).
- The rooftop pool area is very nice, beautiful, updated, comfortable and not crowded as it's quite big compared to others I've seen.  Plus there was a cocktail waitress during the day to deliver frozen drinks to your chair.  Perfect.
- Breakfast room service was delicious.  Expensive, but that's to be expected.  $10-$16
- The Grove.  There are so many places to visit in the grove.  We enjoyed walking the dogs along Bayshore to the parks there.  There are many dog friendly restaurants/bars as well so they were with us most of the time.

The Bad:
- We chose our room because it included a hot tub on the private terrace.  Most of the rooms do, but there were nicer suites that didn't have that feature that we may have chosen instead had we known...  The hot tub was old and in very poor condition to the point I thought it was gross.  You have to pay $30 and they come to fill it for you.  They did, it smelled bad and it was gross.  I called to say we wouldn't be using it, they removed the charge.  They really need to upgrade the hot tubs.
- The terrace in general was dirty, in need of a powerwash.  AND our chaise lounge out there was broken.
- Drinks are $$$ at the pool area. $25 for two drinks.  This isn't Sobe.

Overall I would definitely recommend it but don't expect much from the hot tub.  Oh and we had no problem with loud noise as others did and it was a weekend.

This place is beautiful!

From the sprawling rooms, to the lavish pool, this place rocks!

THE ROOM:
Amazing!
The bed was beyond comfy...i never wanted to wake up....the pillows, man, the pillows!! So comfortable! The mattress was also a dream.

The bathroom was great, the flat screen was great, the whole room was bomb.

BUT!! The scene stealer was.....drum roll.....the private lanai....equipped with a jacuzzi and chaise.
check out my photos.

THE SERVICE:
Great!
No problems here whatsoever.

I'll def be back the next timeI am in Coconut Grove, Miami, FL!!

ps...
after reading lower-rated reviews, i must admit, i was in the Wren Suite, which was very secluded and not the typical room, so obviously, i enjoyed my room more than the average traveler.

Gorgeous hotel, fabulous room.  Probably one of the nicest hotel rooms I've stayed in the US; style is reminiscent of many 4 and 5 star Asian hotels.  HUGE flat screen TV, TV in the potty room, rainfall showerhead, jacuzzi on the patio.  Front desk was extremely helpful and rattled off nine billion amenities as she signed us in.

Won this for $60/night through Priceline, which is a complete STEAL for this type of luxury.  Hotel valet parking is $26, but if you park in the CocoWalk parking garage across the street, it is only $14.

Only reason this isn't 5 stars is because, as others mentioned, the noise factor.  We stayed on a Sunday night and got to hear loud noise from the Improv downstairs until midnight.  I can only imagine what it would be like staying on a weekend and trying to sleep.  The sounds from the hallway are pretty loud too, since the floors outside are all bumpy tile.  If you are a deep sleeper though, this place is for you!

Interviewing in Miami, I thought it would be great to stay in the grove.  I soon found out that if you want to get  a good night sleep, you should avoid the Mayfair.  I went out and enjoyed myself, but wanted to get some sleep at 2 AM.  Unfortunately, there was a ridiculous amount of street noise coming through my balcony windows.  The music and partying felt like being in a football stadium.  I called down to the front desk and asked them when the noise would quite down.  They politely responded that the noise ordinance would not allow it to go on past 3AM.  I told him that I was dissatisfied with that. What did I expect them to do he asked?  I have become accustomed to paying absorbitant amount to park my car at hotels and shoddy service, but I do expect to sleep.  Could they move me to a quiter room?  He asked me to stop it, because his sides were splitting from the laughter (not really, but you get he idea).  His compromise was to allow me to come down to the concierge desk to get a pair of ear plugs that they keep.  What?  Really?  Thats your best solution?  Ear plugs?  So, while the pool was nice, I can't recommend a hotel that you can't get a good night sleep at.

A Four Star hotel, that truly deserves a solid four stars.

1) This hotel is beautiful.  The decor is very modern and tranquil, and I have only good things to say about it.  The bathroom also won points for me, because it was HUGE and had a million mirrors... oh, and a flat screen TV.  This way I could look at myself while watching a movie - all at the same time.

2)  As you may have read in other reviews, each room has a balcony with a hot tub.  It would be necessary for me to add that these hot tubs are very outdated and gross, and are not free to use.  You are charged $30 for each set-up (for every individual use, lasting 6hrs)... a set-up that you have to call the front desk for, and takes one full hour to prepare.  Maybe it's just me, but doesn't that ruin the mood a bit?  By the time all that happens, I'm ready for a nap or some pizza.  Not worth it.

3)  The location is wonderful, and ideal for those wanting to explore Coconut Grove by foot.  It's adjacent to what is deemed Restaurant Row, where many charming sidewalk cafes and clothing shops are located.  There is also a Starbucks, AMC theater, Chili's and Hooters next door.  No need to even use a cab when staying here, because there is so much to do.  If you do decide to hop in a cab and make your way to South Beach, note that it's going to cost you $40 to get there ($80 round trip).  Not cheap.

4)  The noise is an issue with this hotel.  Every maid cart and drunken 21 year old that rumbled by the door was heard very distinctly, and successfully interfered in sleepy time.  Just be prepared for that.. not ideal for light sleepers.

5)  The pool was a bit shady.  All the lounge chairs and towels were used up by a bunch of college kids who were friends with the waitress and bartender.  They were not guests at the hotel, and it was very annoying and unprofessional.  It is a rooftop pool that is fairly nice, however it is very small - there is no room for this kind of child's play.  Not cool.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel to others visiting Coconut Grove because of the decor and location alone.  The experience was delightful, and hands down the best place to stay in the area.

Mixed review.

The place is beautiful, and the prices are very reasonable. But there are some things that need to be addressed.

Good stuff:
Once you get in from off the busy coco walk streets, it is a different world. Every room is a suite surrounding beautiful courtyards and it feels very secluded. The rooms are well furnished and spacious, and the bathrooms are big and relaxing. The personal balcony in every room with the hot tub is definitely cool. The room service food we had was great (Crab cake appetizer and shrimp cocktail).

Drawbacks:
They need to soundproof the sliding glass doors some more. If you want to fall asleep before the streets outside do, you better not need it quiet. The bed was comfy, but the pillows weren't . People have different styles, not every one likes down pillows. The towels were heavy, soft and absorbent, but there were only 2 wash-clothes.

Like another review -- mixed feelings on this one.  Bottom line: I won't return.

Good:  clean, pretty room and hotel and Coco Grove has some great places close by to shop and eat.  The rooftop pool is cool and so is the private hot tub on the patio.

Bad:  the ditzy blondes that work at the front desk leave a lot to be desired in the customer service and common sense departments.  The concierge people were more friendly and helpful.  The noise level is horrible.  Luckily I had earplugs but could still hear the loud party people just outside my door and my husband barely slept.

I'd rather be in South Beach anyway.

Sorry, Mayfair.....you are never going to make it as a fine hotel.
Put this hotel in another setting, and maybe it would flourish.  But unless the hotel addresses the noise factor, it will not get repeat business.
My wife and I stayed here recently for a family event....we saw it was a "Leading Hotel", all suite, etc...
When we checked in during the afternoon, we were given a large room, with nice very modern furnishings.  It was apparent they were in the midst of a very long renovation.  For the moment, everything was great.
All was good until about 11:00 PM.  That's when Coconut Grove turns into Times Sqaure with loud motorcycles, partying people and music blasting.
This noise lasts until about 3 or 4AM and then the busses start  rolling at about 6am.
When I went to complain, I was told there were no rooms that were available and that all the rooms are on a street with noise.  They even said we were on a quieter side.
On our last night there, a police siren blasted for over 30 minutes at midnight.
I have stayed in rooms in NYC, London, Paris, Hong Kong and Bangkok that have invested in triple pane windows to block the sound.
The Mayfair had better step up and make the investment,
