Review from Tracy S.
I took Toddler to Great Basin Adventure today, and she had a great time! There is so much here for younger kids, but it closes for the summer in a few weeks, so get there soon if you want to try it out.
Great Basin Adventure is located in Rancho San Rafael Park. It costs $5 for adults and $3.50 for kids 3-12. Kids under 3 are free. It's an additional $2 each for tickets to ride the ponies or the log ride, but you can buy an all-inclusive pass for $10, which lets you ride the log ride as much as you want. Toddler and I didn't get to go on the log ride because there is a height limitation of 36 inches, but she really enjoyed her pony ride, which has no height limitation.
The park consists of a dinosaur-themed playground, with lots of dinosaur statues for the kids to climb on and water sprayers to keep everyone cool; a "mine" with two slides that the kids can run around and get lost in; a petting zoo; a discovery room with lots of toys for the kids and air-conditioning for the adults; a Basque history display with another playground; and the log ride.
There is a snack bar, but they do allow you to bring in your own food, making this a great place for a picnic. They also play kids' movies outdoors on Friday nights. If you still have time after all the playing, you can pop next door to the Wilbur May Museum for some culture.
All around this is a fantastic place for a day with the kids--I only took off one star because I felt that maintenance could be better on the dinos and in the mines.Listed in: Kid-Friendly Reno

Review from Trisha H.

My sister was dying to take her little girl who is two years old to the Dinos and Dragons. So finally we decided to go. When I heard the tickets where like 8 bucks for adults and 7 for kids....it just seemed so much for a tiny little place. I think the last time I went here I was a kid in elementary on a field trip, so I was hoping it changed and was bigger. NOPE, still the same. But my sister paid, so I just went along. The exhibits were ok, nothing spectacular, it was still a tiny place, but I did enjoy learning more about the Wilbur D. May dude. He did a lot of things in his life that was pretty interesting. They have a trophy room where all the animals that he has ever hunted across the world are stuffed and hung up. Kinda creepy and sad, but damn....how could that not be an accomplishment..kinda awesome!
Afterwords we went into the what used to be the Great Basin Adventure Park, which was a total ghost town, and what looked to be a really cool place, a log ride, trails all over, parks for kids to play at, more smaller exhibits. Too bad it wasn't kept up. All and all it was a nice little place to walk around.
