Review from Mildred A.
Bay Area
Big and clean park with plenty of space to roam about and explore. On one side are the skating park and tennis courts. In the middle there's a big soccer field bordered by a children's playground and a picnic area. To the extreme right you'll find a huge grassy area and the baseball field. These are adjacent to a trail and woodsy area.
Let your imagination run amok and you can do some awesome workouts here with absolutely zero equipment.
Parking is $6 which is collected on the honor system (you put the money in an envelope and drop it in a collection box). The parking area opens when the government workers in charge of doing so decide that they're ready to do so...which is to say is very inconsistent.
Show up early and you're guaranteed to avoid the sketchy crowds and enjoy nature without having to reach for your pocket Mace. Ghetto people don't particularly enjoy waking up early. -

Maxwell Park has nice courts, but beware the crowds on weekends! It's easy to grab brunch afterwards at Breakaway, or take a break and check out the kids at the skate park.
The part that's less visible from the road includes basketball courts, trails, picnic facilities, etc. It's a nice little weekend stop, with something for the lazy and the not-so-lazy alike.
