Because ot the theather itself (excellent picture and sound quality and proper red curtain decor) and the film program loaded with preview screenings (David Lynch presented INLAND EMPIRE here with the little musical act that preceded the film on his world tour) this is indeed probably the best cinema in Paris. They also tend to show very good short film programs and have a nice space for fancy but packed cocktail parties.
The last film by Raoul Ruiz, 'Mysteres de Lisbonne' was playing there recently, if it still is you should hurry up and watch it!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Qype User (jjg…)London, United Kingdom322Apr 11, 2012
Widely regarded as having the best digital projection in Paris and, to my ears, the best sound; this 3-tier single screener is one the cinematic highlights of Paris. I was lucky enough to see von Trier's Melancholia here on a hot sunny afternoon of 2011. Stumbling out, stunned and dazed from witnessing the end of the world on the Max Linder's astonishing screen, I found myself in a Paris with the black skies of an orage d'été and was not completely sure where the film ended and reality began.

Back in 1997 I saw a midnight screening of the Star Wars trilogy at Max Linder. The Pope was in town for his Catholic Youth thing and he brought millions of Bible bangers with him. Stoned and groggy, my friend I had back to his place at 7 am. There were sirens everywhere. Later we learned that Princess Di was dead.

Probably my favorite cinema in Paris. An enormous screen, two balconies, comfortable seats and great sound make this a winner. If you have the chance, go see a film here.
The conversion to digital here cost €84,000 (€74K for the projector and €10K to redo the projection room) and was entirely funded by the city of Paris. (More information can be found on the paris.fr website)
