We've used Maurice for our family photo sessions, to our wedding, to our preggo picks and each time we were pleased and amazed. Not only with his quality of work and creativity but also professionalism. I highly recommend both Maurice and Nina, truly a rare find!!!!

I debated over writing this review. Our wedding was this past Saturday, and Maurice cancelled on us less than three weeks from our wedding.
There is no doubt that Maurice takes beautiful pictures. His assistant, Nina, is also very friendly and responsive. Unfortunately, after signing the contract and paying the amount in full (and cash), he reneged on his contract. His reason? Nina accidentally booked us for October 2011, not October 2010. This was suspicious, as we received several emails from Nina with additional details about our upcoming wedding a few weeks away.
I've had nothing but great experiences with Nina (we actually first reached out to them over a year and a half ago when we started planning, then again a few months ago when we finally decided to set a date). I don't believe that there was a mix up in dates. Since we had a smaller ceremony/reception and paid in full, Maurice was able to give us a considerable discount on his package. I fully believe that another bigger, pricier client came along and was too good for Maurice to pass up.
I don't doubt Maurice's talent. However, I am most disappointed that having a signed agreement and paying the total cost up front wasn't enough to confirm him for our wedding. It's either poor organization or poor business ethic, and that is the last thing that any bride would want to worry about.
I am giving Maurice two stars because he quickly refunded our money and offered a complimentary session. Maybe in time I'll feel differently, but I think I'd just be scowling in any pictures he shot of me!
In the end, we fortunately found a FANTASTIC photographer (Charles Le Photography), and I truly think this cancellation was a blessing in disguise. -

If I could, i would give Maurice 6 stars :)
as a hobbyist photographer, my (now wife, then) Fiancé and I started looking around at photographers all around the bay to find the perfect person to help us capture what we amount to "our memories" of our wedding. we looked at A LOT of photographers, and Maurice's website/photos really captured our attention - he has an AMAZING eye for interesting/gorgeous angles. we met with Maurice, and we KNEW he was the guy for our wedding - we had a DIY wedding with a lot of help from our friends, and we wanted someone that would feel comfortable in a burningman style wedding.
communication with Maurice - before and after the wedding - was awesome - Nina gave us good guidelines as to what is required from us photography wise, and that really helped us plan our day accordingly. Maurice showed up on time, and shot, and shot, and shot and shot.... he had such a good time, he kept shooting on his "off" time. :)
when we got the photos, we knew we'd made the right choice - we have an AMAZING collection of photos - most of our friends remarked that these photos look like they belong in a high class magazine - we couldn't agree more.
We HIGHLY recommend Maurice as your event photographer. he's worth every penny :) -

My wife and I just got married in August 2010 in SF. We had about 400 guests and the reception was at SF City Hall. We knew it was going to be a BIG production, so we wanted a photographer to capture our special day. Therefore we spent HOURS looking all over the Bay Area for a great photographer.
To anyone who is searching for an amazing photographer... search no more! You found one in Maurice. Our experience with Maurice, from beginning to end, has been nothing but incredible and even went beyond our high expectations. The level of professionalism is fantastic, and his ability to take amazing photographs goes without saying.
On our engagement photo session, he made an ordinary scene look like it came from a magazine. Not only was he able to take great pictures, his personality made it easy for us to relax and that took away the awkwardness of getting our photos taken in public. Maurice was so passionate about his craft that he was practically laying down on the curb on the streets of SF to get the right shot. His creativity will blow you away!
A true profession who is genuine in wanting to capture 'the moments,' and has the talent to do just that. I am saving you HOURS of research and anxiety right now... go with Maurice! -

We used Maurice Ramirez Photo for our July 4, 2010 wedding and were absolutely pleased with every aspect of working with both Maurice and Nina. Maurice has an amazing eye and the ability to uniquely capture people and events. The price point was very competitive for the value we received and also included an amazing set of engagement pictures. I couldn't recommend Maurice more highly.

The work Maurice has done for my family is nothing short of amazing...from the portraits he has taken in his studio to the the most incredible wedding photos I have ever seen. You ABSOLUTELY HAVE to check out his "storybooks"! When people come to my house and happen to see an example of his work they are always quick to ask who the photographer was.
While anyone can own a camera, it takes a special gift to be able to take photos that succeed in capturing the vibe and mood of an event or even more important the essence of the personalities that are found within the pictures. Maurice excels at both, and he makes it look easy. Such is the mark of a true talent... -

Not much I can add to other comments except repeat what they've already said. Maurice was a bad-ass. He made our wedding day very special and he was great to work with. He did a custom and personal job for our very personal wedding and if you manage to snag him for yourself you're in for a treat.
One of the greatest things he did at the wedding which I didn't know about was set up a slide-show of photos he had taken that day on his laptop for everyone to see. I found out about it when my uber-manly friend from Seattle came over to me later on in the night and said 'Oh my god, your photos are amazing, this guy is awesome.' Checking out the slide show while still at the wedding seemed so surreal since we had just done the things that the pictures were just now showing.
Anyways, can't push this guy enough on you. He's awesome. -

We just got married on October 18 and our pictures (so far) are even MORE amazing than our engagement session!! Maurice is not only great at what he does, he is a REALLY cool guy. We had so much fun working with him and felt completely relaxed & comfortable the whole time. People who have seen our pictures that have already been posted on his blog can't say enough positive things... I truly believe the pictures will speak for themselves. I cannot WAIT to see the rest of them!!!
If you want a photographer to capture the emotions of the most special day of your life, pick Maurice!!! You will not be disappointed... leave the posed pictures to your friends & family. When I look at the pictures of our wedding that are posted on his blog, I can vividly remember EXACTLY what I was feeling when that picture was taken... maurice is an awesome photographer. he did our wedding in june of '07 and i was very happy with his service and photos. we ordered a cd with pictures, a story book, and we got one of those big wooden picture thingies from him and i was very impressed. his photos were amazing and he's an awesome guy. he's easy to talk to and very down to earth. after we saw the pictures and the book, my wife and i would continually say how awesome maurice is. i would recommend maurice to everybody. go check him out.

Maurice is awesome. He was our engagement/wedding photographer and we are so happy with our pictures. If you are like me, and not really used to getting your picture taken (or don't really like getting pictures taken) being photographed can be a little stressful. But, Maurice and Nina make it fun and they capture the feeling of the event. You definitely get more than just a standard portrait picture. We spent a bit more than we had planned for our wedding photography, but it was well worth the extra money. Maurice is definitely passionate and serious about what he does...and his pictures are proof of that!

Maurice shot my wedding this summer on 7/7/7 after shooting my sister's wedding 10 years ago. I can easily say working with him was a highlight of the wedding day. He was so professional, unobtrusive, quick and artistic. We are doing cartwheels over his work and he is worth every penny. You will not be disappointed. I highly recommend him to anyone and everyone. Rave, rave, rave. Okay, you get it.

Maurice is as good as it gets!!!
His pictures are amazing! He has crazy talent and creativity. We just received our Engagement pictures back and lets just say these pictures way exceeded my expectations and took our breath away. I am so excited to have Maurice do our pictures for our upcoming wedding. Maurice is really good about making you feel comfortable in front of the camera and is willing to do what ever it takes to get an amazing picture. Many times me and my fiance asking ourselves "Where is Maurice?" during our photo shoot because he was taking our photos from different angels from on the ground or different locations in the room. He moves super quick in order to get the right shot!
Coming from a bride to be, Maurice had made our wedding experience amazing! His staff (Nina) gets back to your emails quickly and promptly. You will never worry that you went with the wrong vendor for your pictures. Book Maurice in advance....trust me...he is worth it!

Maurice has taken incredible photos of our friends and family over the past several years. When it was time to choose a photographer for our wedding, it was a slam-dunk decision. Maurice is a true artist, talented, hard-working, easy to work with, super cool and fun! He is sincerely interested in capturing the beauty and essence of a person, image, mood or scene a photograph and making sure you're happy with his work. It's a wonderful feeling to have someone take pictures of you with this much enthusiasm. We were amazed when we loooked at our wedding pictures - the investment was worth every penny. Maurice has come and taught some photo/SLR classes at our store. Small stuff, helping me and my business as much as anything. Maurice does awesome work, see other reviews and his website for that. But what was amazing in these classes was how low key and easy going Maurice is. He's a talented photographer who's also very, very down to earth and very easy to relate to. Any photography experience is highly based on how comfortable you are with the person behind the lens and Maurice is that perfect guy.

Maurice in an incredibly talented photographer. He has a great eye and he is truly able to tell a story through his photos. I've hired Maurice to shoot various events and he has always delivered. Maurice has also done photo shoots for various projects and marketing collateral that I have worked on. I highly recommend Maurice.
