I keep forgetting to use my cash back option or to check in for a discount. Hopefully that reminded you if you haven't taken advantage! Lol. In any case, Maui Tacos is usually a consistently good spot for some cheese enchiladas at the mall. I enjoy their pineapple salsa on everything and their horchata.
As some have mentioned, the service can be a hit or miss depending on who you get. Never had any real issues, but more of a lack of friendliness or warmth if anything. Recently, I ordered from them and to keep up with the new laws banning certain types of plastic and styrofoam they didn't offer any lids or straws with the drink I ordered. I guess they hadn't ordered any new materials yet, as other places seem to be managing fine. However, the cashier was nice enough to make an exception and hand me one of the banned lids/straws, but told me they're not really supposed to. Hopefully, they can order proper straws and lids soon if they haven't already as it makes it easier to maneuver in a food court setting carrying a full tray.
Other than that, I really enjoyed their fish tacos I tried recently. Great flavor and good portion of fish. I don't particularly care for their guac though as it has raw crunchy onions (I prefer creamy and smooth). Overall, a pretty great place for lunch at the mall. Quick service and affordable.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

Gretchen, we're glad you stopped in for a meal with us. Due to those laws, aren't allowed to serve plastic items anymore, but we're looking into upgrading to some biodegradable options for you soon. Be sure to come back for some more great fish tacos, and don't forget to check in and gain those discounts!

Maui Tacos is so yum! Hasn't let me down so far. My go to is always the fish Tacos paired with their pineapple salsa. Plate comes with your choice of beans (black or refried), rice, and chips. Each taco comes with two tortillas, so I normally half each taco and turn it into 4 Tacos. Way easier to eat!
If you want cilantro you have to make a special request.
To top it all off you get 20% off your order AND 7% cash back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - John H.Wailuku, HI0816Jul 11, 2018
I just had the California and it was exactly what it said it was. Except I was thinking the fries were going to be outside of the burrito. ^__^ Oops, nope, inside. It's okay if you like your steak and fries in a burrito.
I enjoy Maui Tacos but they kind of reduced the amount of chips included and the salsa section doesn't seem to have life. Visually. It's good I recommend it if you like burritos.
I like the Lahaina the best I think. ^__^Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Naomi L.Kapaa, HI02811417Feb 16, 2018
Ordered the fish tacos. It was actually tasteless. But they have a salsa bar on the side you can get your choice of salsa. The fish, I really think it was catfish/swai filets. The taco was over filled with shredded lettuce, or cabbage? It was very messy eating them, as the double flour tortilla was to small for the amount of filling. Had it with a side of rice and beans, which were good.
Enjoyed the Horchata. But I think it would be better with ice added. The drink I got did not have ice.
Service was fine, the girl had a strong accent and was hard to understand.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mikie W.Santa Rosa, CA12412May 3, 2019
The California Burrito was very good. I spent $21 for the Burrito, a very small portion of tortilla chips and a coke. Unfortunity I didnt have enough chips to enjoy their salsa.

My husband and I visited Hawaii for our honeymoon we made a stop at a nearby mall for some last minute shopping and lunch before heading to the airport!
Tacos are one of many foods I love to eat and I hadn't had any yet on our trip so I decided to try Maui Tacos! I didn't wanna expect too much since it's in a food court, from experience it's usually a hit or miss.
I just ordered one regular Maui pork taco with black beans. Each taco comes with a small side of nacho chips and you can add whatever toppings you want from their salsa bar, which comes in a range of mild to spicy sauces. I got a little bit of each, don't remember the name of it but I really liked the spicy green salsa (probably jalapeños) They put a good amount of pork and beans, it may not look a lot but it was pretty filling. And they cover the entire taco with mounds of lettuce.
The pork was good but nothing special. It was good enough to satisfy my taco craving.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 20, 2013Updated review
FOOD:
Maui style taco salad - Huge portion of ground beef, cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole and lettuce (and no rice, yay!) Taste was a bit bland - I should've grabbed some sauce from the bar.
SERVICE:
Still unfriendly and uncaring. Funny how I get better service at Taco Bell.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Oct 24, 2010Previous reviewUnfortunately, ownership changed hands, and not for the better.
ATMOSPHERE:
Located in the food court of Queen Kaahumanu Center. Open-air indoor & outdoor seating.
FOOD:
Honoli'i burrito - Big portion, okay flavor but way too much rice. I read the description of what's inside the Honoli'i burrito (ground or shredded beef, black beans, greens and salsa.) I ask the girl "Is there rice inside the burrito?" She says "If it's not listed, it's not in there." Fine. Not liking rice inside my burrito, I trusted her and completed my order. Get home, first few bites are good. What's in store for the rest of the huge burrito sans the other end? RICE - A WHOLE LOAD OF IT. Thanks.
SERVICE:
Fast but unfriendly. If you don't like your job, quit.

Over-priced, okay taste and poor customer service. - Derek L.Las Vegas, NV17999197Jun 12, 2017
Been to Maui Tacos 2 times while on Maui. It was very good Mexican food and I would recommend if you are looking for good tacos. They had a 20% off you're bill offer and I definitely used it just to give it a try.. overall good meal!

It's like eating cardboard.
Seriously.
Avoid at all costs.
I was famished after finishing the Maui marathon and everywhere in Maui seems to be closed on Sundays and this was our only bet.
Not even desperation hunger would make me eat this food.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

This is definitely disappointing to hear, Ella. We always want to make sure that you're satisfied with what you order, so we're sorry to know that this wasn't the case. Hopefully, you'll consider giving us another chance one day to show you the amazing food we're here to serve.

I remember when my grandma was still alive she would always pick Maui Taco's taco salad in it's really large deep fried tortilla shell bowl. I was curious to see why it was my grandma's favorite pick at the Queen Kaahumanu Center's food court, so I gave it a try the other night.
Looking at the menu, I was decisive on what type of meat to add for $2.50 more. Fish, chicken, pork, shrimp all sounded pretty good. Then the cashier asked if I wanted to try their Sirloin steak and of course I couldn't resist. (However, she didn't mention there's an additional charge on top of the additional meat charge.)
The Taco Salad comes in a large deep fried flakey tortilla shell bowl with lots and lots of lettuce your choice of beans, a scoop of guacamole and chopped tomatoes. There's also a salsa bar located to the right of the cashier with a wide variety of salsa you can choose from. (However, I am not a big fan of cilantro, which all of them consisted of.) I was disappointed that I didn't read the description that it did not include sour cream, because for me, it is one of the ingredients that puts it all together. (Along with a slice of lemon too.) The food took a while to make so by the time I got my food I was too hungry to go back and stand in line to pay for a side of sour cream.
I'm glad the cashier suggested the steak because it was really delicous, seasoned with lots of flavor and cooked just right for it to be tender. The steak was so good, that I wished there was more of it.
I also ordered a fountain drink that comes with free refills. Overall, I enjoyed the taco salad. I will just have to remember to order a side of sour cream next time.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
