Call me crazy, but I actually found this place produces some tasty food!

The sushi rolls were yummy and the rice was soft and not hard like some other food court Japanese places that I've been to. The fish salad was also delish with the teriyaki sauce.

I tried this one day since I had field work near the Citadel outlets. I was initially going to get Subway, but I found this place and I figured I'd give it a try since I could have Subway anywhere else. It was a nice day outside and the food court at the outlets was a nice place to have lunch since the entire food court is covered by overhead awnings. Maui Style itself is in this small little indoor place as well as the other fast food establishments.

The menu was pretty diverse, as it included burgers + fries, and also some sushi rolls. Other  than that, it was basically what you'd find in your typical Hawaiian BBQ restaurant. I ended up ordering a katsu + chicken combo. When I opened the box, I was kinda disappointed. The portions were modest, but not as much as you'd get as say L&L. The cutlets of the chicken BBQ and katsu were very thin. Its also the first time I've been served a regular salad and potato salad with my combo. I'd still say L&L is better since its cheaper, tastier, and has more portions, but this is just based on the platter combos alone. I've had better.

Hungry for Hawaiian BBQ and so far from home.....

With piles of work on my desk and no hope of getting it all done my mind drifted to dreams of sand and sun. In no time at all I started craving a 'lil Hawaiian BBQ. With a quick check of the trusty Yelp Search feature I found Maui Style!  During the short drive over all I could think about was ordering a big five star kalua pork plate lunch.

BOO!  Hawaiian BBQ place with NO kalua pork!?!
The stars are falling.

I really thought I would suffer a melt down but then I spotted the tower of SPAM cans at the end of the counter. OMG did you know SPAM is celebrating it's 70th anniversary?  Maui Style has a nice display of all the commemorative cans of Spam.  Even though Spam has magical powers and can be used to sooth the most restless of souls do you think it is enough to make up for the missing kalua pork entree?

I think not, ok maybe.....

I ordered Spam musubi and a bowl of saimin with fried Spam.

The musubi was HUGE but poorly made.  The nori was quite stale and tough and I don't understand why they have to cover the entire roll with it. The rice was too loose and without flavor.  Most of the time musubi's plain rice soaks up some of the marinade from the Spam but I don't think the spam was marinated.  The spam was cut nice and thick but the fried flavor was a bit off. Finally they serve it as a brick. Come on guys, cut it into manageable pieces!  Maui Style is in danger of dropping even more stars.

On to the saimin, which is, damn near imposable to mess up.  This was damn near perfect right down to the sweet/salty broth.  Stars are starting to shine again.

Over all Maui Style comes in as three star OK but not what I was hoping for.  They offer a few sushi rolls and some burger choices in addition to the standard H-BBQ fare.   The staff is friendly, portions large and the prices reasonable.  I'd give them four stars if they would put some pig on the menu and work on the musubi.  Five stars if the offered real Hawaiian Punch!

There is no place like home for real H-BBQ but if you need a fix Maui Style will do.....for now.

Pretty good value.

Good quality.

The standard salad with mango dressing is unusual but nonetheless enjoyable.

They're in the food court at the Citadel Factory Outlet.

They're claiming the "BEST TERIYAKI IN TOWN" ... yeah no.  It's about average and what you would expect from a quickie teri joint at a mall.  One thing they need to do for sure is to pack their musubi's better.  The rice in the spam musubi is really loose.  Bite into it, and the bottom half will crumble out.  You'd be better off with a knife and fork and keeping this thing in a bowl.  Otherwise you'll have a flock of pigeons following you around the Citadel outlet mall scoring on your sloppy seconds.

Hearty portions of their BBQ mixed plate and not a real $$$ ticket, no complaints from me. Walter had a spam musubi. His reaction, "Two dollars?? I would think it'd come with 2 slices of spam. It wasn't rolled tight enough. It was loose. But...it was OK"  The sad thing, no K. Pig!! What kind of hawaiian place doesn't have the pig? disappointing. Then again, I guess their salmon teri makes up for it a lil bit. I'm not real impressed but I like that there's a hawaiian place up in here. They need to get some haupia too. If you don't know, you're truly missing out.

The cheeseburger and fish burger are good, especially considering the alternatives in the City of Commerce.  However, in no way are the burgers on par with In N Out like KF suggested.  Overall, above average fast food and good selection.  The cans of Spam are hilarious.
