Many call Mastro's the finest steak in LA. While I hesitate to say best, it is certainly one of the best. I've been three time and tried a different cut each time. The bone in filet is to me the best cut I've had here. It is tender, juicy and every bit the delight one would expect. The real surprise to me was the Gnocchi. It was creamy, tender, as good as the steak and paired so perfectly with the steak. The seafood, while not quite as good as the steak, is still very good. The one bad item is the 1lb baked potato. It's just obscenely large and just takes away from the meal.

I have only made it to dessert only once and even then I was pretty full. I had chocolate cake. I wish I could remember how soft it was, but all I can remember was it was rich and chocolately.

The cocktails are pretty mediocre. They can do the classics adequately but nothing of note.

If you are looking for the best steak in LA you cannot help but highly consider Mastro's.

This is an excellent mini-chain steakhouse and some call it the best steak in LA, while others, who've led a sheltered life, call it the "best steakhouse of all time".

I would rate the entrees a solid A. All of our steaks were cooked perfectly, and the flavors of the USDA prime bone in filet were magnificent. The steaks are serving on a 400 degree hot porcelain platter which seals in the juices. The sides were excellent, especially the gnocchi with crabmeat and truffles. This was probably 250 calories per bite, but well worth it!  Appetizers were so-so: Next time, I'll skip the blue point oysters which rated a solid D in freshness and quality. The stuffed mushrooms were good, but not great, creamed spinach was excellent and dessert (butter cake) was better than average. (One desert fed the table.)

This place doesn't live up to the hype. In some cities, I'd actually go for a Capitol Grille over Mastro's as the quality was really average, but not great. The serving staff was excellent, however the hostess sat us in a lousy spot by the door until I complained, and we were promptly re-seated.

The decor is old style steak house, simple, stale and dark with Sinatra, Three Dog Night and the Beatles as their background music.

I enjoyed this place, but it lacked the creativity of Lucques or AOC, the passion of Fig, History of Dantana's or the elegance of the new BOA.
Since, it's priced in the same range, if not higher than these others, so, I'd have a tough time going back.

It's interesting how many reviewers gave this spot 5 stars, then proceeded to "dis" the place. Price/performance rating here is 3 star.

Here's my breakdown:

Steak 4.5 star
Sides 5 Star
Appetizers 1.5 star
Desert 2 Star
Service 4 Star
Ambiance 2 Star

Wow!  Everything about this place is fantastic.

Due to typical LA traffic, I arrived late to my reservation (I called to let them know that I'd be late).  Regardless of this infraction, we were treated excellently right from the start.  Our server was extremely professional and cordial, introducing us to the menu.  The bread selection was excellent.

I ended up ordering an 18 oz bone-in filet and sweet potato fries.  Let me tell you that, for $10, you really get your money's worth in the fries.  A huge bowl came out and the fries were literally bursting forth from this.  I ended up taking about a third of them home, where my parents remarked that the portion with which I had returned was practically an appetizer at most other restaurants.

The steak itself was excellent.  Being a fan of warm yet red meat, I ordered mine medium rare.  Wow!  This steak was one of the juiciest that I've had.  The contrast between the brown exterior and the red interior was great and the flavors really came out.  I felt as though, for the price, it was definitely worth it.

In reality, this restaurant isn't as expensive as it may seem.  I mean, sure, drinks will really add to the price, but if you just order a steak and an appetizer, your wallet won't be hurting too much at the end of it.  Mastro's is definitely someplace to go for any steak enthusiast and I highly recommend it.

One of my most favorite restaurants of all time.  Great service, wonderful steaks, humongus desserts.  Not much to say other than it is GREAT.

Oysters - Fresh, delicious, HUGE.  I can't emphasize how HUGE these oysters are.  Usually I hate large oysters because they taste gross and you can taste every little part inside the oyster.  But their oysters are great.

Bread basket - I could eat this all night and skip out on the steak.  Good assortment of different kinds of bread:  rosemary/olive oil foccacia (?), sour dough, pretzel bread and some kind of flat bread sprinkled with cheese.  Yum.

Filet Mignon - Words cannot describe how delicious this was.  It was just delicious.

Creamed spinach -  Huge portion; but I should've ordered something else.  Felt a little too rich to go along with the steak.  My least favorite item ordered.

Mushrooms - Perfectly cooked.

Dessert - I forget, but I think we got the flourless chocolate cake.  Marvelous.  Good size.

Tip - They are usually very busy on the weekends, so make sure to call in advance for a reservation.

Being a huge fan of Cut in the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, a friend mentioned that I might want to give Mastro's Steakhouse a try.  We were traveling in Thailand at the time and the beef there was less than desirable. So when I got back from my extended trip, Mastro's was first on the list. (literally, first night)

Unlike Cut, the atmosphere at Mastro's was a bit rowdy and casual, which was ok, since I was there for the steak...and it certainly was all my friend talked it up to be. Great meat, wonderfully prepared.

The prices were not incredibly high for the quality of food, which I would say is close to what I would normally find at Cut for 3-4 times as much.

If you're craving a good steak and a good value, Mastro's in the spot.

Best steakhouse ever!  Loved the seafood tower and especially the oysters, so fresh and sweet.  Of course the steak was delish as well.  Lobster mash potatoes is also a must-try.  If it wasn't so expensive, I'd come here all the time!

Please my lovely readers, you have to excuse me for not having any photos.

If you ever end up going there, you'll know what I mean.

My four stars go:

1. To the 12Oz. FIlet mignon aged for 28 days (heaven+love)
2. To Napa Valley Calera Pinot Noir 2007 (my choice, great choice)
3. To the hot chocolate something dessert (an exotic beach in Aegean sea)
4. to the Waitress and the wine expert (cool ppl, but too much of a niceness)

Missing star is for messing up the Au'Gratin potatoes. Wrong choice of cheese!
If you can avoid this, do it, get the asparagus and the sauteed mushrooms instead.

The story is:

I was on a date. So, someone wanted to impress me. Whoever wants to impress me, they're more than welcome. (Think of some impressive and unique methods plz, no flashing though).

I am going to be very honest, the place is not my type of place, WHY? Because, if you know me enough,  you'll know that I don't get fancied by Beverly Hills and the plastics with their Benzos/Bentleys combined with LVs, Guccis, Chanels and their fake faces and smiles, with full of fake attitude. I love true stuff, true crowd and hipsters, yes, I said it, hipsters. But the objective view is good, Beverly Hills all the way. (for the worshippers and wannabes)

But, what can you do, I give the guy the credit for trying to impress me with the old fashioned way; fancy shmancy restaurant. (In the end he effed it all up, therefore the attitude in the review).

This place could be the IT place for married couples, who plan to have a nice quality beef and wine experience. It's in the HEART of Beverly Hills with the Beverlyan crowd in it. (eeeeek, run)

So, that's it, the story is not ended yet. This is my contribution for this review. I'll keep you posted what happened to the guy....

My 400th review is dedicated to Mastro's Steakhouse! What a great night of entertainment, good company, and delicious food. Every single thing about this place was high class and worth every dollar spent. Even the waiter service was excellent. I usually get snubbed at restaurants in Beverly Hills.

Even from the very beginning our night went very smoothly. We arrived at the restaurant on-time and checked in with the hosts. Even though the rest of our party of 6 had not yet arrived, they seated my boyfriend and I at our table. We had a nice table upstairs, big enough for 8 so we didn't feel too cramped. It was nice to relax, listen to the live band, and have a cocktail or two before everyone else arrived. We also decantered a bottle of wine in the meantime.

On to the good eats. We started the evening with the seafood tower! A two tiered platter of jumbo prawns, king crab legs, and oysters. It was truly seafood heaven. The prawns were plump and perfectly cooked. The crab meat was delish and the oysters were fresh.

Next up, the entrees. I've been in love with bone-in filets, so of course I ordered the biggest bone-in filet cut they had: the whopping 18 oz. Wow! What a steak! Super thick and perfectly cooked to a medium rare. It was heavenly. I had plenty of leftovers, but I didn't mind that so much. It served a premium bag lunch the following Monday.

As for the sides, the mac and cheese was delicious. Rich in cream sauce, cheese, and glutinous noodles. The lobster mashed potatoes were hearty and smooth, topped with de-shelled lobster claws, but I think any restaurant could copy the concept. The sauteed mushrooms and steamed asparagus spears were good, too, but nothing extraordinary. On the other hand, the huge pile of sweet potato fries fulfilled my fried food craving and were fun to eat.

At the closure of dinner, we were all stuffed and most of us had take-home boxes, but Mastro's still had one more surprise for us. The waiter had asked me inbetween dinner service if there was a reason for our celebration and I told him it was for my boyfriend's new job. I didn't think anything of it, but at the end of dinner, my boyfriend was served Mastro's signature warm butter cake with "Congratulations" written across the plate. Everyone was surprised! It was a generous gesture on Mastro's part. It was a great ending to our dinner party: finishing our bottles of wine and sharing the butter cake.

5 stars! Enough said.

I just realized when I wrote my review for Cut that I had neglected to write one for Mastro's.  I'd say comparing apples to apples...the rib eye at Mastro's is comparable to Cut.  However, Cut is a little bit better because they offer the Wagyu.

However, the lobster mashed potatoes...awesome!  And service is also very good.  It's a bit pricey but definitely a good choice for a special occasion.

I heart Mastro's!!

Must order the bone in rib eye, fries, mac n cheese and BUTTER CAKE!!!  I order the same items over and over and I still can't get enough.

Mastro's sets the bar for steakhouses and I haven't found one that comes close.

looking for an amazing dinner and a wonderful way to spend your money on your stomach and your taste buds? head to Mastros. I cannot emphasize the AMAZING-ness of this place enough.

I ate at Ruth's Chris in San Francisco once a couple years ago and no offense to them (it was good at the time), but Mastros sh*ts all over any other steak house -- no joke! Drinks, wonderful. Sides, amazing, Steak, to die for. Service, everything you would expect and more. Walking into this place makes you feel like a million bucks and they treat you just the same.

The steaks are like butta! The spinach salad, go for it. Fries, done. Lobster mashed potatoes --- *drooool*. It's all good at Mastros.

GO HERE ASAP & don't waste your time or money at any other steakhouse!! MmmmmmmmMastros!

Dear Mastro's Steakhouse,

On Friday, the 23rd of January, the year of our Lord and Savior Jesus H. Christ, Two Thousand and Nine, we dined at Mastro's Steakhouse Beverly Hills. Dinner was a symphony of errors. Not for want of service or flavor but management.

If a restaurant chooses to datestamp its menu like an entry in a server log, it should take care to make the date current. My menu stated that it was December 23rd or some such thing giving the impression that the ingredients have been patiently sitting on the counter hoping someone would order them for a month. Yes, intelligent diners will understand that a restaurant does not reprint a menu every day but there is no reason to boldly proclaim the menu's age unless it's flattering.

I have, with advancing age and wisdom, begun informing the wait staff of my steak's preferred temperature rather than giving a blanket term that everyone seems to define at their convenience. The preference is cool red center. Having advised the waiter of this, my steak was still overcooked throughout its majority but there was definitely a portion of the center that managed to evade heat at all. As I relished this morsel I wondered what natural phenomenon could have made this possible.

Inflation happens. Costs increase and having no alternative, people accept it. However, when one charges US$39 for a fine cut of slightly overcooked beef, and has an extensive wine list with bottles in the thousands of dollars, charging US$18 for a martini is beyond explanation. It is simply an assault on alcoholic decency. Mastro's is a restaurant, not a resort. Even Sunset Tower charges US$15 and one could argue that it is both. Completely unacceptable.

And finally, when one wants to be taken seriously in any field that requires communications such as from the kitchen to the customer by way of the menu, one learns to spell properly. Ask a random sample of people on the street for the spelling of Johnnie Walker's family of scotches, and one is likely to hear the same mistake 8 out of 10 times. Fix the damn thing before someone does a special titled: Celebrity Restaurants: They're just like us! They can't spell either.

Love,

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a steakhouse, so let's save the pleasantries for trendy vegan restaurants and salad bars. This is a house of steak, a place of cow worship. An establishment dedicated to juicy cuts of meat, mouthwatering mashed potatoes to be washed down with dirty martini's and dry Cabernet.

I wouldn't dare denigrate this sacred institution of bovus with anything less than what it deserves....

This place is AWESOME. My ribeye was perfectly cooked, had a beautiful succulent sear that created the perfect pink juicy center. If you love steak, this is your restaurant -- bottom line.

The sides were also great. The lobster mash is a MUST-TRY and is a Mastro's signature dish.

What's also unique about this particular steak establishment, is that it's perfect for a night out with the guys, where you can indulge in scotch and cigars -- or even a great date place. Gents, any woman you take here who doesn't appreciate the food is not worth your time anyway. Ladies, if your date doesn't enjoy the experience, I would also kick him to the curb. Another tip for the ladies - this is a great place to take a significant other (or a guy you want to make your significant other). A woman who knows her meat is an attractive quality, and Mastro's is the best.

My only complaint -- when are you opening a Mastro's in San Francisco? I think it's only fair that my NorCal brethren also get to enjoy this succulent indulgence.

I'm not going to talk about the steaks here. I just want to offer these two tips...

1. Always always always make a reservation. You'll still end up waiting about 30-45 mins, but that beats the 2 hour wait you'll likely face if you arrive unexpected.

2. Always always always ask for Kevin from the downstairs bar to make your drinks. I've had a few martini's in my day, but Kevin works some sort of magic with the shaker and creates the smoothest dirty martini I've tasted. I mean, you're paying nearly $20 a pop, get your moneys worth.

As for the food, I'll comment on the lobster mashed potatoes, the french onion soup and the Mastro's wedge salad---all delicious and worth trying! That's somewhat of an understatement because in reality I daydream about the dressing they use on the wedge salad. And if I wasn't so turned off by onion breath, I'd probably go there just for the soup everyday.

Bone in Filet 18 oz. - Fabulous. Juicy. Tender. Flavorful beyond belief.
Wine- delicious. Had a lovely Pinot Noir and a taste of my counterpart's wine as well.
Mac and Cheese- Well, I almost ALWAYS love Mac BUT Mastro's Mac n Cheese is extraordinarily good.

I was sooooooo full after dinner that I didn't have room for dessert ::GASP::  but I promised myself that I'd double up on dulces the next time I went ;)

The ambiance was great. It was a lot less pretentious than Cut. They definitely pack people into the restaurant which made it hard to have a conversation at points, but the ambiance was great anyways.    I ate upstairs on a wednesday night and it was still packed!

I'll definitely be back!!

My wife took me here as a surprise for my birthday, and I have to say I very much enjoyed the food and experience at Mastro's. My wife had heard about the restaurant from Yelp and from a friend. She knew that I loved steak, and this turned out to be a great choice.
When we arrived we left the car with the valet.  As we entered I instantly realized that my kids and I were inappropriately dressed as we were all wearing hoodies and jeans. I think that the appropriate attire would have been some type of blazer or sport jacket with slacks. For a woman, it seemed like everyone was wearing little black dresses so I guess that would be appropriate attire.
The first thing that was served was an assortment of bread. All of the bread was very tasty. After that it was on to the main course for us. I ordered the bone in fillet, my wife had the petite fillet, and my oldest son had the chicken. There was no kids menu, so the baby shared our food. Everything was ala cart, and the sides where family style with very big portions. For sides, we ordered the potatoes au gratin, macaroni & cheese, and broccoli. The food was very hot when it arrived and had my mouth watering. Everything was to hot to eat at that point, so we had to wait a few minutes for it to cool down. After the food cooled I tried the mac & cheese and the potatoes which were both excellent and very cheesy. After that, I tried the steak, which was one of the best I have ever had. It was all incredibly good.
Besides the food being excellent, I would say that the most impressive thing about Mastro's was the service. It was unbelievable how attentive and courteous the staff was. They even called the next day to thank us for eating there, which I thought was a very classy touch.
I would highly recommend that every steak lover try Mastro's. It was a great experience for me, and I would love to go back.

Pros: Excellent selection of steaks, the best service I have ever experienced at a restaurant, friendly staff, and a pleasant atmosphere.

Cons: Not for kids and very pricey.

The food is exquisite. The boneless filet literally melts in your mouth and is probably one of the best cuts I've ever had. It's juicy and flavorful and just...yummy, for lack of a better fine dining word.

If there is any food I know a little something about it's mac 'n cheese. Mac 'n cheese from a lovely restaurant is always something worth trying and Mastro's version is a must must MUST! I almost feel naughty eating it it's so good. Also worth indulging - shrimp/seafood cocktail, mashed potatoes, and also the lobster mashed potatoes!

The ambiance of the restaurant really sets the mood and makes the experience that much more enjoyable. Make sure you have a reservation, because even then there will still be a wait!

My boyfriend treated me for my birthday a year ago. We were super excited due to the great reviews on yelp.

We ordered everything that was suggested, such as the bone in ribeye and the mac and cheese.

The ribeye was dry and thick.  I hated it.  We could only eat .00002% of the steak due to the lack of taste.

The lobster mac and cheese was okay, but i thought it was too oily.

I'll admit, after being disappointed by Fleming's Steakhouse, I was pretty hesitant to try this place at first. But, boy am I glad I did! Mastro's can not compare to Fleming's. Everything from their food, ambiance, and customer service is excellent!

First of all, we arrived 45 minutes late to our reservation due to traffic. I gave them a call about 10-15 minutes prior to our reservation time to inform them of our situation and they assured me that it was no problem at all. When we arrived, our table was ready without a wait. However, the party sitting next to us was rather loud and, since we were celebrating an anniversary, I wanted to sit at a more private table. The waiter not only accommodated my request but also gave me a tour of the entire restaurant and sat me at the table of my choice.

After getting cozy, we familiarized ourselves with the menu. I ordered the 8oz. bone-in filet (my eyes are a lot bigger than my stomach so I didn't want to get ahead of myself) sauteed garlic spinach, and lobster mashed potatoes. The bone-in filet was beyond delicious! The meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I didn't even need to add any salt, pepper, or sauce. It was perfect! The garlic spinach was also delicious, flavorful, fresh, and not soggy/watery like most places. However, the lobster mashed potatoes are definitely Mastro's star side dish. I'm willing to bet that there at least 3 lobsters on top of those mashed potatoes. They definitely did not skimp on the lobster at all! The sauce that it was sauteed in was also very flavorful yet, not overpowering, which made it the perfect compliment to the steak.

After chowing down on what I still rank as the best dinner of my life, our waiter surprised us with a complimentary slice of chocolate cake with "Happy Anniversary" written on the plate. The cake was moist, delicious, and the perfect ending to our dining experience. I should mention that the slice was also very generous--another aspect they didn't skimp on.

As fabulous as this review already sounds, it's not over yet. The next morning, one of their amazing staff members gave us a follow-up call to make sure our dining experience was everything we hoped for and more.

Mastro's definitely earns its 5 stars. It is the only steak place I rave about and the only non-homemade steak I eat. Definitely well worth the dent in your checking account!

Had a wonderful evening at Mastro's. Our waiter, Amari was amazing. He was friendly and ever the professional. The vibe is really fun and the people watching is totally part of the experience.  The pretzel bread is like crack, they ship it in from Germany our waiter told us. That stuff is good. The wedge salad was fresh. I did not care for the dressing, but my husband loved it. Hubby got the petite bone in  which was mouth watering and I got the prime rib. My prime rib was overcooked, but still full of flavor. Way too much for one person to eat. The sides are huge. The mushrooms could have fed 6 people. Overall, we loved the entire experience. Would I say it was the best steakhouse I've ever been to? Probably not, but I would definitely go back and request the same waiter and eat massive amounts of pretzel bread.

My fiance carries the wrath of living with a vegetarian 364 days a year; on his birthday I demand he eat steak, and not just the steak burrito from baja fresh.  If you're going to eat steak properly about once a year, it might as well be the best steak available.

In doing research I've found there are 3 types of upscale steakhouse.  You have your corporate chain steakhouse, your boutique steakhouse (think Jar), and your top of the line classy steakhouse.  I've found Mastros sits at the top of the latter.  It turns out they only purchase the top 2% beef and then slaughter it in house...delightful.  However whatever they did put a smile on my fiances face that you couldn't knock off with a baseball bat.  As a vegetarian, I was offered a plate of smaller portioned sides or a penne pasta.  We decided to pick 3 full sides and I also ordered the ice burg lettuce wedge salad (no bacon)....in case just sides wasn't enough.  Boy was a wrong.  The salad is false advertising, they fail to mention that they provide you with the entire head of lettuce!  I have to say it was delicious and refreshing, not quite the best I've ever had but I thoroughly enjoyed going at it with a steak knife.  The bread assortment they start you off with is also quite nice.  Though we devoured all of it, the french baguette was the only real good one.  The pretzel bread was quite salty, and one of the other baguettes was just kind of there.  The sides we ordered were sauteed spinach, creamed corn, and the Mastros potatoes sans bacon.  They were all delicious, the second they hit the table you're hit with the unmistakable smell of garlic and butter.  For dessert they gave us the chocolate birthday cake on the house (which they let us take home) and we ordered the buttercake.  I have to say I'm not quite sure how I feel about it.  It was quite tasty, but every bite almost had a different texture and when I went to eat some left overs and I took a bite of it cold it tasted like pure butter...which scared the crap out of me.  Really it was an interesting experience, but just ok.  In the end we had leftovers of pretty much everything, except for the steak.

I requested we sit upstairs because of other yelp reviews, and I wish I requested to sit on the balcony upstairs.  Upstairs is loud, and as a party of two we were seated on one of those half booth half chair tables where I was forced to sit next to the most disgusting man I've ever heard speak in my life.  He was going on and on being crass and filthy, talking about other people in the restaurant, vaginas, all sorts of stuff.  Clearly, whatever he was carrying in his wallet seemed to clear him of having a conscience.  Don't get me wrong either I'm not exactly "ladylike".  So while my experience was not 5 stars, my fiance was very pleased.  Just a warning though, this place is not romantic!

The best steakhouse in Los Angeles. The service and customer care cannot be beat. Worth waiting to sit upstairs.

Top-notch!  There's isn't anymore that I can say that all of the other reviewers have already said!  It's a definite MUST-TRY-AT-LEAST-ONCE steakhouse.  Our waiter was Gary and he was absolutely fabulous!  Definitely will return!

Very solid choice for a premier steakhouse. Having been here for multiple occasions, large group and small, I'd say ambiance is more key to the experience than the food. The place offers a multi-story restaurant, full bar, and piano entertainment. The place is perfect for a romantic dinner or a business celebration (my friend's collegiate golf team had won the national championship and chose to dine here as well). Service is unbeatable, especially considering how full the restaurant usually is.

My favorite selection of food has to be the seafood tower. It's monstrous, with king crab leg, prawn and oysters, a truly great starter to begin a night of culinary indulgence.

Wine selection here is very good, having had the opportunity to try drinks from the bottom to the top of their list. I'm no wine connoisseur, but all of them paired well with the food.

Sides: The mushrooms are extremely delicious, great texture and taste. LOBSTER mashed potatoes are amazing. However, their spinach was not a great, but still solid.

By the time the main course rolls around, I'm usually pretty full already. I've had the bone-in rib eye, the porterhouse, and the new york strip (different occasions). The steaks were all very good, served on a hot 500 degree plate to keep the steak warm. I think they tend to over-season the steak a bit, but that is more of preference on my part than the chef's technical cooking.

Definitely worth the $130 my boyfriend and i spent there the night of our anniversary celebration.  We had a 7:30 reservation on a Friday night (T.O. location) and we got there 15 minutes before our time.  We were seated at 7:15 and our server, after asking if it was our first time visiting the restaurant, explained how their menu works.  The food was delicious, the drinks were refilled promptly, and the waiter was diligent in answering our questions.  To help you guys out as far as planning for how much money you'll be spending here's there recent menu prices.  I couldn't list it all but i did give you a high and low range so hope that helps!

MENU:::
Appetizers, Soups & Salads: current prices start as low as MKT price (caviar and lobster cocktail) and go as high as$28.95 (crab cakes).

Steaks & Chops: lowest at $26. 95 (whole roasted chicken) to highest at $85.95 (double cut porterhouse 48 oz steak).

Crustaceans & Finfish: starting at MKT (alaskan king crab legs and live maine lobster) and reaching $84.95 (jumbo lobster tail).

Potatoes & Fresh Vegetables: cheapest side is $7.95 (garlic mashed potatoes) and the most expensive is $10.95 (this being the gorgonzola mac & cheese).

Unfortunately dessert was not listed on this take-home menu but if i recall the most expensive dessert was $10-15 and that was their famous Mastro's signature butter cake.  It can serve 4 comfortably and we were 2 so you can imagine we had a bit to take home with us.  We definitely can't be dropping $130 every time we eat so we're only going to be returning for special occasions.  We did decide that the dessert was decently priced so we'll probably return to share a dessert around christmas time.

The bone-in filet is the best piece of meat I have ever had! If I had to choose between sex or Mastro's steak, it would be a dead heat . You will not go wrong with this place, it is sensational! The seafood tower is a fantastic addition to any meal, I recommend ordering it as your appetizer. In addition, the service is as good as the steak and the ambiance meets expectations.

Finally got a chance to check out Masto's last night after all the raves from my gfs and sister.  Came here for my birthday dinner thanks to my boyfriend, who made all the arrangements.  Yay! and was everyone right about this place.  Awesome steaks!  My bf had the ribeye and I ordered the porterhouse.  OMG, the filet part of the porterhouse just melted in our mouths, it was so tender!  We were speechless it was so Incredible!  For sides, we ordered the lobster mash potatoes and the mac n cheese.  Huge portions and so good!  Even the bread basket that came to the table was served warm, just the way I like it so the butter melts right into the bread.  Totally Delish!

Unable to finish our meals ( yes you will need it boxed up), our waitress brought out chocolate cake with Happy Birthday spelled out on chocolate syrup with a bowl of fresh whipped cream.  The cake was very light in texture and not very sweet, but just ok.  It was still  a nice light sweet ending to a fantastic meal.  I am however, curious about the signature butter cake, cuz I heard it is "melts in your mouth" good.  Hopefully next time around.

Service was top notch, our waitress informative and the wait staff attentive.   Mastros is on the pricier side of dining but the quality is worthy if you're in the mood to splurge.

I give it 5 stars as a steakhouse - this is why you go...right?

Well, this is the best steakhouse in L.A.

I've been to the Bev. Hills location and the newer Thousand Oaks spot - the TO location is super sleek - single floor (no crampiness), crazy beautiful wine cellar/dining room - with live singing (subtle I tell you!) on the weekends.  I personally think the BH location reeks of lawyer.... but you come for the steaks not the sharks.

All the raves are correct - the Bone-In Rib Eye is the exceptional item on the menu.... but then there are sides - some will tell you Mac N' Cheese - and even the Lobster Mashed (which are heaven) - but may I suggest the Truffle Gnocchi! (don't eat more than 3 bites - you'll be takng everything else home - it is SOOO rich! - yum), and for 'tatoes, I say skip the lobster and go for the Mastro's potatoes - Mashed Potatoes with Cheese, Bacon and Sour Cream all whipped into one friggin' tasty side... (but the Lobster Mashed are still awesome).

If you don't have a budget and haven't eaten in a week - try the seafood tower - you make it any way you want - lobster, claws, shrimp, etc - all served on a bed of ice with dry ice smoke wafting behind.... expensive? YES, but showstopping and delicious too!

Even the bread tastes like friggin' clouds!

Desserts are ho hum (but not terrible by any means) - but who can eat dessert after that Henry the Eighth meal?

Service is spectacular - all the white jackets and black bow ties smother your table... Drinks are PERFECT.

Beats all the Ruth's Chris/Flemings/Mortons Steakhouses (are they to be taken seriously?) into the ground.  There are still other great steak restaurants (Cut, Craft) but this is just that Masculine Steakhouse you've been pining for.

It's all that & then some at Mastro's steakhouse. It's high-end, yes, but the quality of food and service staff was well worth it. Get ready to throw down some Benjamins dining at this steakhouse but I doubt you'll regret the money spent.

Tips:
*Top floor dining- meant for those who enjoy the live entertainment and livelihood of Mastro's, not a place for a quiet romantic dinner for two.
*Lobster mashed potatoes (will send you into potato heaven afterwards) it's pricey @ $36 per pound but worth every penny.
*BYO-Wine; $25 corkage fee is pretty much standard at any fine dining establishment. The $17 martini was great, but the prices on wine & spirits can kill ya.
*Dinner before 7pm helps to beat out the huge crowds that form downstairs (plus, early dining does help w/digestion)
*Seafood appetizer is a must. The size of the Tiger prawn shrimps in their shrimp cocktail was something you would find on a Natl. Geographic special, those suckers were HUGE!

This was by far one of the best steakhouse experiences the Mister and I have had. He's a steak guy who's sampled the best & the worst in the U.S. and combined, we've consumed a good amount of cows that can feed a small village for a month. The service staff really took the meal to a whole new level, so professional and very polished.

Whenever you have something to celebrate, or just need a night of steak bliss, Mastro's is a restaurant for you.

Petite Filet - very tender and juicy.
Bone in New York - had two bites of my friend's new york and it had a great taste. It was soooo tender. wow!
Creamed Corn - very thick cream and not too sweet
Mashed Potato with sour cream and bacon - i love this.
Stuffed Mushroom - oh, I love their cheese. I think there was also garlic and butter in it but I couldn't really recall cuz the taste of the cheese was overwhelmingly good.
Chocolate layered cake - complimentary bday cake.  the chocolate Taste was there but the texture was a disappointed.  Cakes that look like that should have a very solid and firm texture.  It tasted like angel cake.  I was so disappointed.
Sorbet - the mango flavor was awesome!!

Ambiance - felt like eating at a chinese dimsum restaurant tho.  Very loud and noisy but i'm okay with it.  Feels more like home.  haha

Service - Superb.  They overcooked my friend's steak and when we asked the waiter for another one, he apologized and immediately took care of it.  Even the manager came out and apologized.  They later offered us complimentary dessert, extra cream corn, and extra mashed potatoes.

I had a really good birthday dinner experience there so I would definitely go back again.

If I were dying, this would be my choice of a last meal.  Why?  It has nothing to do with the BH address or the cool vibe inside (especially upstairs) but everything to do with the AMAZING FOOD.

First, the bread basket has pretzel bread.  EPIC SCORE!
steaks are the best...dessert the same
but the smoking martinis are just signature and can't be beat.
I love this place!

I have only been here a couple of times, and that is too bad because this is without a doubt the steakhouse to top all steakhouses. The bone in fillet here is so good its unfair, sizzling, buttery, tender.  But then there are the lobster mashed potatoes. Are you kidding me? Lobster mashed potatoes. Is that what God eats? And then they have this nuclear horse radish sauce for your prawns: instant enlightenment.

Dimly lit, piano, and maybe on my short list for the final meal of my life.

What can you say about the best steak house in town.  We go there at lease once a month and last night was the best experience we have had.  The black peppered Filet was so perfect I wanted to eat teh plate with ti.  The mashed potatoes are even better than heaven.  I was in a trans for the one hour we were there.  I have never had such a gret service and food anywhere.  No where can you get a better service than Mastros.  if I could give them 7 stars I would.

TOTALLY OVERRATED! I don't understand how this place gets so many great reviews. My friends and I came here for dinner one night and I had the 12 oz. bone in filet. We ordered sides to share- asparagus, garlic mashed potatoes, and mac & cheese. Yes, I'll admit that the quality of the filet was excellent- very soft and a nice cut of meat. But seriously, if I'm spending that much money on a meal, I expect my food to have some seasoning on it! How about a little salt? Ever heard of a little white thing called garlic? What good is a nice cut of meat if it tastes like I'm eating it straight off of the cow? Yuck! The sides were also very bland. When we finally got the bill, it came out to about $80/person. Totally not worth it. I wouldn't even pay $30 to eat a meal THIS BLAND.

I finally got an excuse to come here...I came to celebrate my birthday.  I ordered the 12 oz. bone in filet for $43.95 and the lobster mashed potatoes for $32.95.  Yes, it cost a pretty penny, but everyone deserves a once a year (or more) splurge!

I am convinced that Mastro's beats Ruth's Chris and Morton's when it comes to steaks...

Unfortunately, the complimentary slice of chocolate cake was a kind gesture and was well-presented but wasn't worth wasting any more calories on...

Food:  still super yum!  since my friend and i werent that hungry we both had the bone in ribeye and lobster mash potatoes.  that was realllllly good!  plenty of lobster meat and very flavorful.  i love the idea that all these steakhouses brings out your meat on a sizzling plate but it always make my medium rare almost medium well halfway through my meal.  tried the frogs leap zinfandel which was pretty tasty but not the best red.

Ambiance:  we were seated in the dining room to the right which i didnt even know existed!  definitely a more casual than the main dining area and a lot brighter.  tried to go upstairs for after dinner drinks but it was supppper packed!

Staff: super friendly and helpful

Price: $$$$
