Okay, so for the second time this week I checked out a newly opened restuarant in West Linn. This one definitely rates higher than the last one.
Masters of the Vine...what kind of food would come to mind when hearing that name? Italian food of course and they don't let you down there. They open for breakfast serving several italian meat combos (Italian beef sandwich with eggs, Italian meatballs with eggs and mornay sauce) but also have biscuits and gravy and build your own omelets as well as freshly baked muffins, scones and breads.
Lunch offerings include at least 6 different salads, a plethora of sandwiches and a couple kinds of soups daily. Dinner offerings are a bit less plentiful - pasta, pizza and just a three entrees. But they have that covered for everyone except vegetarians offering a beef, a fish and a chicken dish.
They even have a happy hour...though not very practical. It starts at 9:30pm and since they are only open until 10 during the week, this is a pretty small window.
I thought the prices were quite reasonable and the food was wonderful (I had a ham and cheese omelet this morning). The wait staff is very friendly and brought me coffee regularly.
The decor is nicely appointed and understated. I'm still not sure if you would call this a restaurant that offers a fine wine shop or a wine shop that offers wonderful food...either way I will be back. -

Proceed with caution. I could have snagged the first review since I was one of their early customers, but they had a really disorganized opening back in February. At the time, I reached out to the owner via email welcoming him to the neighborhood and provided a little customer feedback and never received a response.
I decided that I would wait to write my review until they were fully operational and to give them a chance to work out the kinks. After my second dinner a month later, I still didn't feel ready to pronounce whether it was a hit or a miss. Not after the third or fourth either. You see every meal, happy hour, discussion with the owner (we eventually talked in person), and quick visit for a glass of wine has been a unique and completely uneven experience.
What has been especially disappointing is the service. I can understand getting off to a shaky start, but on all but my most recent visit [1], I've had a server on their first day/week at the restaurant. This has translated into receiving the wrong food (they placed the order incorrectly), overcharging us (more than once) and servers who didn't know a thing about the menu on every visit.
They just brought in a new executive chef (previously at the Oswego Lake House) at the end of September, so I don't know what that will mean for the quality of the food and if they will change up their menu. At my early visits, I enjoyed most of my pasta entrees, but we have not been happy with the pizza. There are also a few items on the menu I've attempted to order and they were not available.
So the only thing consistent is that they are constantly in flux. I noticed that they are no longer serving breakfast during the week, but will offer a Sunday Brunch buffet from 10:00a - 3:00p. Will I give them another try? Only if I'm alone. The rest of my family has put them on their 'do not return' list.

We had two coffees, two bowls of oatmeal, one orange juice and pumpkin bread. Cost $12.35. We sat outside at the picnic tables. The owner/waitress was pleasant and told us about her plans to offer music during weeknights. Overall a good experience. Give it a B.

Our visit in December was a much improved experience over past dinners. We have always found the food excellent, but the service was exceedingly slow. Not this month! Food was timely, hot, and delicious. And, the pricing is very competitive, especially the single glass of wine.
Try it, we think you will thoroughly enjoy the evening. -

We had dinner here with several other people. The adults in the group are very into wine and really enjoyed the selection. The owner came to the table and gave recommendations and explained what makes a true Port wine. The food was great, and is based on the owner's grandparents recipes. The wine prices are comparable to grocery stores. The corkage fee is $10.00 per bottle. We did not see any yelling at staff while we were there. They also had a kids menu with pizza, etc. This place is close to home and I'm sure we will be back.

For some reason, listening to KINK radio the other day, they mentioned this place. So the spousal unit and I decided to give it a go. We love old Willamette Village, and after checking the Yelp reviews, headed over to West Linn. When we arrived at about 730, two table outside were occupied, and two inside. We seated ourselves and a young man came over with menus and asked if we wanted anything to drink. I said we'd like a large bottle of Pellegrino. He looked at me with a confused look on his face. I said Pellegrino, you know Italian mineral water. He then said oh yeah, we have that on tap .. Excuse me you have Pellegrino on tap? He said yeah, and that he would bring me a taste .. So he comes back with a glass with a bit of liquid in the bottom, I gulp it down, and it's tonic water, so now I have the unmistakable taste of quinine in my mouth, and I tell him this is tonic water, and he say's ..Oh.. I said don't you have any sparking water in a bottle?? No.. I'm thinking we're in trouble here .. we decide to go simple..the wife has soup, it was good, and I get a house salad .. I ask for the dressing on the side, and for the first time in my life I hear, "we do a good job of putting dressing on the salad"....what?? No I want it on the side. The salad and dressing were fine .. and we each ordered a personal size (10 inch pizza) .. they were just OK, and could have spent another 3 or 4 minutes in the oven..a thin crust pizza should not have any sogginess in the crust .. this did.. the cheese and toppings were fine, but not good enough to warrant a return trip
