Came here with a gift certificate, so I luckily didn't have to pay for it but the massage really wasn't anything worth going back for.

The place seems to me like the"supercuts"of massage places. Honestly  the rooms don't have to have  anything fancy to them as long as the massage itself is good. I think her name was Kim and she was nice but her touch felt like that of a students:-( I like there to be consistency and there wasn't any! The side she started would start Ok and then the other side would just get shorted.

The lights weren't very dimmed either so when I turned onto my back I could feel the brightness of the lights which is distracting.

I've been going to The Knot Stop which is a similar idea and will stick to it.
Oh...and when I went to check out they will push a membership on you which I turned down politely the first time I was asked but  the girl proceeded to ask me why? Was it because of the cost? Commitment, time? I had to say no about 4 times and felt like I had to explain myself to her which made me feel an uncomfortable pressure to sign up. As if there is NO excuse for me to not to sign up for the membership! Get the hint after the 3rd NO!

I won't be back again even with a gift certificate, I'll just be re-gifting it!

This place is like SuperCuts.  You feel like you are getting a service, but you are really getting the "idea" of a service.  The whole experience is mediocre and you always wonder afterwards why you didn't pay the extra $20 and get the real deal.  $70 for a 50 minute so -so massage is expensive.  The set up is not at all relaxing and I have found the after results are super short lived.  All in all...not worth your money and time.  Pay a bit more and go to a legitimate place.

My friend convinced me to go to Massage Envy vice another establishment that we had gone to before.  I read all these reviews about 1/2 an hour prior to actually leaving for my massage.  I must admit that I was reconsidering going after reading these reviews.  I decided to continue on and to my surprise I had a great massage.  My masseuse was Kim -- for such a small girl she packed power in her massage.  Very good experience.  Yes, I must agree that they really do a hard sell for the membership and yes, I did sign up for one.  I wasn't really set on committing myself to a year membership but it does make financial sense if you plan on getting one or more massages a month.  Just made a commitment to treat myself to a monthly massage.  Oh, I heard Silvia was one of the best...I'll try to request her for my next appointment.

I went twice to the one in Rancho San Diego and they were pretty good, except for the person that said she used to work for my mom and my mom fired her!  This was while I was undressed, on the table and unable to leave.  This dummy did acupuncture and it made my foot numb for three months!!!!!  I didn't even bother complaining because I have foot problems anyway.

So, after that, I tried the Point Loma one by my work.  First time GREAT!  Silvia is caring and professional and is the bomb.  I bought the membership because of her.  Guess so, she's always booked.  Went back to Megan.  LOSER.  Cold hand and didn't even try to warm them up!  Don't they have hand warmers?  Bad personality.  Smelled dirty and yawned during my massage.  Acted lilke it was a chore and not something that she's been trained to do.  Luckily my credit card was stolen and I had to close it.  They called to re-run it and I never called them back and I won't be calling them back either.  I'll go back to RSD.

Front Desk Staff :
Confused: Mixed up my first appointment with someone else's. Left me sitting there so I volunteered to go with the "abandoned" masseuse.
Rude: Sit there and talk about their screw up in front of me.
Pushy: Big on the membership idea even AFTER the lack of couth and coordination aforementioned.
Massage:
Nice room, quiet, good table.
Competent masseuse (thank God!)
Be sure to ask for experienced staff if you are a veteran - this place is for the less familiar consumer.

I like it deep and hard - my massage that is...

While working in Point Loma, I saw this place had finally opened last year and hung a lefty in a hurry to see if there were any walk-in appointments. Sure, enough, I was able to get in right away on 2 occasions and received satisfactory, but not outstanding (and cheap) massages. Well, third time's always a charm...NOT!

I was expecting a lithe hippy chick (or dude) wearing Chi pants, redolent of patchouli, but what I got instead was an unhealthy looking, obese (not just zaftig), pimply faced therapist who was dressed like an Oompa Loompa on furlough from the Little Shop of Horrors. Sorry - not hatin' just sayin'.

I told her what was achin' and said I liked deep tissue work. What I got was a bone on bone (no not a BONER) massage that had me leaping off the table in more pain than I came in with. OUCH!!!  After that I just called it quits and never went back.

In reading all of the reviews here I can only be sorry I did not read them prior to going to Massage Envy. Received a gift card and went for what I thought was going to be a pleasant stress free massage.

Ok, I LOVED the massage. But you should know this is coming from a woman who has never experienced one in the past. SI really have nothing to compare it to. As soon as I walked in the door I could tell it was going to be a sales presentation before I left the building. Asking all kinds of questions like "How often would you like to get massages"? Ummmmm hello! I'm single and would really enjoy daily rub downs. So yeah, I was weak and had visions of $49 dollar monthly massages and said why not. Well, after adding in their tacky listed advised tipping guide, it really turns out to be $69. I'd love to know where they get their tip charts too. How do they get 10% of what I paid $49 to be a $20 tip?

Decided my budget was not ready for my monthly indulgence and cancelled my membership. Signed my lil form to cancel and was told I had 2 massages on "The Books". Because I hadn't been in a few months so I had 2 coming to me. So about 2 weeks later I decide to use up one of the massages I HAD PAID FOR! Come to find out by their friendly call to remind me of appointment, that I would be paying full price for my massage because my membership had cancelled. WTF?! She said because I didn't use up my 2 ALREADY PAID FOR massages on the books that I lost them. I was less than happy to say the least. How in the hell can you have taken my money and give that an expiration date? Its like a prepaid gift card. Its mine to use as I please. Than she was kind enough to throw in that when I signed the form the FINE PRINT told me just that. Hell, I wouldn't even have thought they would be so shady. I just wanted to make sure the membership was cancelled and my account wouldn't be debited anymore.

In closing... Their business practice is less than admirable or respectful and I absolutely wouldn't recommend this place to another soul. And if you get a gift card use it. Just don't by into their BS sales tactics like I did. Lesson Learned Ladies!!!

evan is heaven.. julissa will make you feel like you are in bliss----aaaaaaahh.. [wanted to make it rhyme]

these two therapists are amazing and do great sports massages and deep tissues..

however, the front service can be a bit spotty. and when they switched my therapist on me, w/ someone who specialized in swedish massages, i spent 50 mins for someone to moisturize me. also, had me down under a completely wrong name, and call me to schedule my monthlys, when i previously schedule it earlier already.

BUT! f you can get pass the front door and on to table to either have evan or julissa work on you, its worth it.

Don't go to this place.  Massage was mediocre at best.  Place was like a turnkey shop run by robots.  Then, after my massage, the front agent tried to hard sell me on all sorts of packages.  I'm not kidding, the lady wouldn't give up on selling me something.  She even went to the extent of looking up my friend's zip code, who was visiting in town, to sell her something closer to where she lives in NorCal!  Any relaxation the massage did give me was worked out of my body by the time I was done dealing with the front desk agent's hard sell.  I'm sticking to The Hidden Spa in OB - they're great.

I say ignore the bad reviews on this place!  People have off days and maybe that was what was going on.  I have had many massages there, ALL by the same person - Matt.  I LOVE going there, I joined their membership plan BECAUSE of Matt and his amazing massages!  The price is right and the location is good as well!  i prefer the back rooms to the front rooms.  The back rooms are more quiet, the front rooms you ca hear people walking around down the hall.  So go try them and ask for Matt!
