10 reviews for Massage Envy Cherry Creek
I will start off by saying that, with massages, you get what you pay for. I only paid 40 bucks for this introductory hour long massage... So I really shouldn't complain.
I just didn't like the facility very much. It was very corporate and not very spa-like. I could hear noises through the walls, doors closing, people talking, etc. etc. My massage therapist was fine and she listened to what I wanted, but I think I needed her to literally JUMP on my back. Anywho, if I'm in the market for a cheap massage, I'll go again..
But it felt like a massage therapy factory. Tons of therapists, not entirely personal.
I woke up this morning with a miserably sore back (I'm preggers right now) and needed a massage ASAP so called and of course got an appointment right away. I'd never actually been to one of these chain places but I figured for a last minute massage and at only $39 you can't beat it.
It was really only "ok", as all the other yelpers say, the waiting room is awkward and the page long questionnaire of how often you want massages was a waste of time so I left most of it blank.
My massage was only 50 minutes (like everyone else noted) and it just wasn't that great. My MT seemed to like going over the same areas on my back over and over and over and over....you get the picture, I wasn't quite sure what she was trying to accomplish besides giving me some kind of burn from the repetitive friction---it was honestly like no other massage I'd ever had and not in a good way.
As cheap as it is (and BTW I did not tip their requested $13 fee for $39---I gave 20%) it's still not worth it, I'd rather pay more and go to spas or clinical MT's for a better experience.
So, for my birthday I got a gift card to massage envy from someone who didn't know I used to have a membership there. I went there with low expectations and am so happy I went back. There was a wonderful lady named Shuree who did such a great massage. It was so great, in fact, that I bought another membership. I'm glad I had the opportunity to give them another chance, and I learned that you really have to be specific about the type of massage you want when you make the appointment to get someone who fits.
also- they added a hot stone massage!

Everyone I liked here is gone! Cancelled my membership. Read more »
This place gets three stars from me because of how I interpret what it is supposed to be. If you are looking for a one-off, phenomenal massage, go somewhere else. If you're looking for an decent massage on a very regular basis (think weekly) then this is a better option, specifically because of price and their hours.
I sit at a computer for roughly 10-12 hours a day, and until recently used to be on a plane every week. Needless to say, I was badly in need of massage therapy. I signed up for a membership to Massage Envy because they are open until 10 during the week, and they are cheap.
A few things to note...
The massages are only $39, but they expect you to tip on what a non-membership massage price would be, which bumps it up a little more than you might think.
The therapists are also supposed to talk to you for 5 minutes before and after the massage, so they say you are getting an hour massage, but it's really only 50 minutes. So it almost seems sneaky how they madke it affordable.
Also, for some reason, every therapist I've ever had at Massage Envy wants to have a conversation with you during your massage. What?! That is ABSURD to me, when I am there to relax. I'm not talking about discussions of pressure or problem areas, I mean anything from politics to my job have been brought up. The last thing I want to do is talk about my job while I'm getting a massage.
The best thing to do if you want to take advantage of frequent massages here is to make a running list of therapists you like and only go to them. (can be hard to find, but they're there).
If you want to schedule at the last minute, go after work, and go a lot, then it's worth a shot. If you want a good quality massage that makes you just melt, try somewhere else.
I almost dropped my membership here due to therapists who just plain suck...then I met Marcus. He is one of the best therapists I have gone to and that says a lot!
I hate to say he is too good for massage envy, but it is true. They work their people so hard and don't pay them well enough. But anyway, back to Marcus. He is a therapist who you can tell really cares and is present when working on you. He has strong hands. I highly recommend you are very careful when using massage envy and really ask about the therapist you are getting!
One day, I didn't have much to do ... just chilling and relaxing....sipping latte and driving around cherry creek....
I love having massages.... I normally have massage therapy about once a month....
I didn't have an appointment... just walked in to this place for the first massage there... only $39.... awesome....
(Another nice thing... they have garage parking.)
The therapist I had.... was great! She did exactly what I told her and how I wanted it...
I wish I lived in Denver.... If you didn't see me.... it would be the place where you could find me everyday..... lol
I was in pain for 3 days after my massage here.
While visiting Denver, a friend and I signed up for massages, as the first massage is $39 and we could get in at the last minute and at the same time.
Well, that should have been a bad sign, I guess. I didn't know this place is a chain and, upon walking in, felt like I was in a doctor's office. The design of this place literally feels like a hospital waiting room, with the exception of the elitist magazines offered (I only saw Golf and Denver Homes magazines--yuck). When you arrive, you are asked to complete forms. One of which is just a survey to find out how they can advertise your need for more massages.
My masseuse was quite odd. I've never had an experience like this. I signed up for the Swedish Massage, which is supposed to be relaxing and gentle. Upon laying down on the table (which is like motorized dentist chair--bad associations) she asked if I needed my "back popped." I had never heard that before, but guessed I didn't and she said she'd check. Before I could respond, she smashed her palms down on my back and cracked it. Then, she asked, "Doesn't that feel better?" I was speechless....and, no, it didn't.
She then proceeded to find "trigger points" (and never explained what that meant), which I learned resulted in pain for me. She stated she had to work them out and this included digging deeply into painful spots all over. She explained how much better I'd feel and, stupidly, I believed her. It was a far from relaxing, calming massage, which is what I had wanted.
As I was walking out, she reminded me that I'll need to take ibuprofen the next day. I have never had that said to me after a massage.
I can't imagine circumstances under which I would return. Not only did I not feel relaxed, I was in pain. Even the cheap initial massage is not worth it. And, they list suggested gratuities in the waiting room which are far above the industry standard.
Next time I'll pay more and won't be crippled by pain for days afterward.
I had a deep tissue massage here last weekend. It was alright. My massure didn't work out all the kinks like I was hoping, but 39 bucks for an hour long massage? Are you kidding me? You really can't complain. So I'm not going to.
I went here last week for my first massage in about 5 years. I'm ticklish, so massage isn't really my thing. A finger in the rib, and I'm laughing and wiggling, not relaxing and Om-ing. But I had a knot in my back, and wanted a massage, like, now. And that is their first star. Massage on a walk in basis. Nobody else could get me in, now. Though I don't have much to compare it to, my MT was pretty good. Super cute girl named Kimmy. She did fix the thing in my back, which was the 70% of my goal. The other goal was relaxation, and this was not entirely gratified (although totally not Kimmy's fault, it was the the actual place that was not relaxing). The waiting area is really sterile and doctor-waiting-room like. Not relaxing, even a little. Then in the massage room, there was a loud-speaker overhead that played super generic (therefore, not peaceful, but kinda amusing) elevator version of soothing music. It was like Muzak has a massage station. I found myself thinking about this during the massage. I would have liked it better if there was a small stereo and the MT could bring in their preference for some tunes. The second star was for the low price everyone commented on. I can't really find it in myself to star them up anymore than that. Overall, good if you're way broke, and want to get in NOW. Otherwise, go to an independent MT.
Their "hour" massages are only 50 minutes. Ripoff!
