I LOVE Masa's and so does my BF. He used to eat at Masa's place when he was up in Dallas, and now we come by every time we are even remotely close to Houston. Seriously, Masa makes the best sushi I have ever had. His rice is perfect. If Masa were still in Dallas, I think most of my paycheck would go to eating sushi at his place.
Part of what I love about this place is it always feel like you are welcome. Masa and Co. greet you when you arrive, and say good bye when you leave. I like the Woodlands roll, and his spicy tuna is the absolute best. -

I have eaten at most of the sushi places throughout Houston and this is the best -- bar none. Fresh, real, and oh so delicious. If you are serious about good sushi (not just rolls), this is the place. Great uni, unagi, and the oh toro is sooooo ohhhh toro! Give him a shot. You won't be disappointed!

Came here with a work colleague and a client on a weekday night, it was minimally occupied, but the servers were extremely attentive to our needs and let us have our time to discuss.
Food-wise, the quality of fish and presentation outshine the vast majority of sushi establishments out there, in Texas and in most places.
You wouldn't know it given how fancy-roll-crazy most sushi establishments are leaning nowadays, but there's something to be said for ordering the classics. Tekka don (tuna over bowl of rice, or a tuna-only chirarshi if you will) was presented as a rose over rice. A beef negamaki appetizer was grilled to perfection. Sweet shrimp (amaebi) was extremely tasty - presented alongside their fried shrimp heads for those that are into that kind of thing.
Big big fan. -

I'm not sure what is generating the glowing reviews for this place. I ate here late last year and found it overpriced but, based on the Yelp reviews, I gave it another chance and had lunch this time.
The lunch sushi was 6 smallish pieces of tuna roll and 6 pieces of sushi. With green tea, my total was $20 before tip. Almost all sushi in Houston comes from the same supplier, so the differences lie in the creativity of the chef and the grade of sushi he buys. This is the same grade as you find most everywhere (grocery store sushi included) and there was no creativity displayed (checkout Kaneyama in Westchase from creative sushi), so I didn't think the price was justified and I won't go back.
As noted by others also, the place was almost empty. -

Quiet and peaceful. Small place, kinda hidden. Delicious, fresh sushi with many options for rolls. Very good service. I ate here alone for the first time after just moving to The Woodlands. The bartender kept me company and informed me on many things Woodlandsy.

Sushi is fresh, the rolls are excellent, the environment is quiet (not too busy everytime i've been) and the staff is super nice. Will go again when it's date night with my hubby!

Masa's Sushi & Robata Bar is the classic Japanese restaurant in the sense that it kinda looks like a whole-in-the-wall dive from the outside and yet is really comfortable and nice on the inside.
The sushi was quite decent, though as I've confessed before, I'm not the sushi type, so this is all hearsay from my wife.
The whole robata bar concept -- grilled skewers of meat or seafood, in a Japanese style -- was new on us and we went with it for a smallish appetizer option and we were pretty happy with our selections.
The best part was that everyone there was excessively nice... maybe it was just Texas =) but we certainly were impressed by the attitude and promptness of the service. -

I am usually hesitant to eat sushi in Texas. I live in Los Angeles, where the sushi craze is bustling, and the competition is high. But for a sushi bar in Texas, Masa's does the trick.
I was worried to see the lack of guests upon arrival (around 6:30pm). There were only two other tables occupied. We were welcomed warmly by the greeters and sushi chefs.
I ordered Tekka Don (Tuna over Rice), and asked to make the Tuna Spicy (Using the tuna from a spicy tuna roll). When the $18 sushi bowl arrived, there was about 3oz of sashimi tuna drenched in Sirracha, over a bed of perfectly cooked sushi rice. This is not what I had in mind, but maybe I shouldn't have attempted to "change" their dish. The menu also stated the Tekka Don is served with Soup and Salad (neither came).
My guest ordered Ibi Sushi, and a Vegetable Roll. The Vegetable roll was perfect. More than 5 fresh vegetables added a perfect crunch and complexity to the roll.
For two people, we spent around $50 (with tip). If there was a better value, I would definitely give Masa's 4 Stars for the highly quality of sushi, beautiful presentation, and kind service. -

I've tried most of the snazzy-appearing Houston sushi places, and none of them has anything on Masa's. I was so happy to discover that the best sushi in Houston is only 10 minutes from where I work.
The fish is fresh and delicious, and the sushi chefs (Masasan and Masa - not related) are welcoming and personable. They do include some American-type rolls on the menu, as well as cooked food, for the non-nigiri-lovers.
The service is sometimes a bit slow, and I'm hesitant to review the place because anything that increases their business may keep me away from this amazing sushi for a few more minutes, but it's worth the wait. -

Came here for lunch to get my sushi fix, I came during the lunch rush hour and walked in to find only two tables occupied with customers. I was greeted immediately when I walked in and had my choice of where to sit. The server was kind to explain the specials and gave me time to view the menu and choose, I wouldn't call these prices lunch ''specials'' but hey I was already there so what the heck. I picked the 15.95 sushi special with one maki roll (Philly Roll) and my choice of 2 Nigiri. The sushi was pretty good and I like the presentation but for the price I am good with sushi from H.E.B. or Kroger because at the end of the day I want to get full and presentation isn't a must for me. The decor was nice, so were the servers, and I enjoyed the food. I would come here again but I would be hesitant to come here on a weekly basis because of the prices.
