3 reviews for Maryland National Golf Club
i need to exact some revenge on this course.
but can i do it?
its definitely a venue to visit in mid season form.
the front 9 has some fun holes. but, beware of the greens sloping away from you because the ball will roll right off.
both par 3's are not that bad. better take an extra club, just in case though.
the par 5's have to be compromised. your drive on #2 could go 350yds on a downhill fairway, only to be behind a tree guarding the green.
the back nine is a nail bite'n- hair puller on every hole.
let me just say, there's a 246yd par 3.
the last 5 holes will change leads with every swing, pitch, chip, and putt.
with all the stress and pressure this course provides, all you need is a camera crew to make you think you're on thePGA tour.
maryland national is gorgeous, tough, fun, and addictive. if it were located in vegas, you'd probably pay $250. luckily its in the back yard of the mountaineous maryland scenic region, so it'll be slightly under a $100.
after your round, visit their restaurant in the clubhouse. the food can get fancy, (a relative term because i think their homemade potato chips are fancy), and a taaaad over priced. i enjoyed their rockfish fish and chips while complaining about my round.
here's what i dont get about this course, the wind is against you on every t box!!!
i also think the rating and slope is off. it should be higher than a 73.1/137.
this will be a 4 star (the starter has always been a bit edgy) until i get my revenge.

First time there. Loverboy and I had a 9 am tee, I really liked this course.
Challanging yes, but most courses are for me I shoot in high 90's to lower you know what. This time of the year it is gourgeous. Can't wait to play in the summer. Plus if you have a TeeTime book there is a 20 reduction in fees. Watch out for # 18 Wicked. The par 3's are not so easy either. I only parred one, but then again, they aren't paying me, we are paying them to play. try it .you'll like it.
One of the most difficult in the DC-metro area, this links-style course has plenty of "trouble" (tall fescue and lots of sand traps) for the serious golfer who wants a challenge, or for the novice golfer who wants to get in serious trouble. It was frustrating for me, but I managed to have fun. Impressive views from elevated tee boxes. Fast greens, meticulously kept. Their grass range provides a good place to hit some balls during warm up. Or for post-round practice.
