Marty is AMAZING!!  Best massage I've ever had.  I am super tense - my neck and shoulders are like rocks - and he's the only one who can go deep enough to alleviate the tension.  He's also got such a rich background of different styles that he can really blend something to suit your needs.

Plus, his prices are totally reasonable, and he is a super nice guy to boot!

    Highly, highly recommended!

After taking Structural Integration classes with Marty as my teacher, I signed up for ten Rolfing sessions with him at the end of 2011.
Wow!  It really helped me both physically and mentally. Outstanding job!

Marty has been my Rolfer for quite some time now. Not only has he brought awareness and significant change to my posture and way of walking, but is also a joy to be around, funny, caring and somehow manages to give extremely relaxing bodywork even while being deep and specific. Any time I need something worked out, he gets it every time, 100% and has no doubt extended my career as a massage therapist considerably.

As a former student of Marty, I have found his teaching and mentoring to be consistent, wise and practical. I am always working to improve my relationship with clients, my body mechanics and my business practice and he is always extremely generous in his advice.

Thanks Marty, for what you bring to the world! I can't recommend him enough.

OK, if I could give Marty 100 stars, I would in a heartbeat.

I came in with a bum hip, low back pain and just feeling achy.

In one hour, I felt so much better!
Marty knows what he's doing, he targets the area that is causing the problem, and then proceeds to fix it.

I felt totally at ease w/Marty, he makes the process fun.
When I was done with my first treatment, I seem to remember him saying I was walking like a nice Brazilian girl. Meaning my hips were actually MOVING, not stuck like the 100 year old lady I felt like when I walked in!

    Thanks Marty!!!!!

I just had the pleasure of taking Medical Massage classes from Marty at the Massage Therapy Institute in Davis, California.  Of all the classes I have taken in over ten years, this would have to be my favorite educational series/instructor.  Marty is an impressive educator.  It is self evident that he is passionate about his practice and about effectively educating others.  I plan to take future classes with Marty and refer him to all of my colleagues for their continuing education.

I found Marty thanks to Yelp. I was in a lot of pain & Marty really helped. The next day I felt so much better and I was only visiting, so I only saw him once.

I can honestly say that Marty is one of the best massage therapists that I have been to.  (and I have been to a LOT of massage therapists).  He is one of the few who is consistently good, and who also listens to what your problem areas are and really focuses on them to give you relief.

I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a deep tissue massage or a sports massage.  In addition, he is just a super nice guy, and will make you feel very welcome and comfortable.

I highly recommend Marty for massage! My profession requires me to work at a computer all day long. No where is this more evident than in my tight neck and shoulders. It does not take long for the knots to build up!

I am often amazed that Marty can identify my pain points just by observing the subtleties in my movements. Marty has the right mix of intuition and technical skill, which I believe are critical to a great massage. I especially like that Marty finishes by suggesting exercises I can do in between treatments.

Marty is a very personable guy who gets along well with folks from all backgrounds. Marty truly cares about the people he helps, and this is evident in the very personalized experience he provides. My neck and shoulders are already looking forward to the next treatment. :)

Yes, you can believe the 5 star reviews here. I've seen countless bodyworkers over the years, but none of them have been as intuitive and as skilled as Marty.

I came to see Marty with a neck and shoulder issue (injury?) to have him work on alleviating the pain and limited mobility I had.

Thinking that he would work exclusively in that region, he discovered that the issue really was related to a recent surgery in my abdomen! He then proceeded working from there and even without working on my neck, things got remarkably better.

A few more sessions with Marty and I was back to normal. Totally worth the few 'co-pays' I would have had to pay to see a doctor who would have prescribed me pills which would have treated the symptom, not the cause.

Marty went right to the issue at hand and I am forever indebted to his thoughtful, caring, and skilled approach.

I had a pinched nerve in my neck that was getting worse and worse, I actually had to take a week off work due to the extreme pain.
After one treatment with Marty I instantly felt relief and am back at work with no pain!
I fully intend to reserve more time with Marty
    He's incredible!

Marty is an amazing massage therapist, as well as an instructor! My massage with Marty had just the right amount of pressure and communication. I felt really comfortable, and I also felt like I could speak up during the session if I had something to say, which is hard for me to do during massages, so that was awesome.

I highly recommend Marty for anyone who wants a truly therapeutic experience.

I took a class with Marty and just finished the Rolfing 10-series with him and he is everything that the rest of the reviews say -- he has a wonderfully warm, kind, calm, welcoming, non-judgmental presence and is a wise, intuitive, and highly skilled Rolfer/bodyworker/educator. Perhaps what I appreciate the most about him, though, is the combination of passion, light-heartedness and a rather mischievous sense of humor he brings to the work and the classroom. :) I obviously highly recommend him as a Rolfer or instructor -- you'll have the option of laughing your way through the deep learning or, depending on your situation, the deep healing...

Being a dancer, I treat myself to a monthly massage with Marty and it is something I look forward to immensely!  Marty is the one who gets the knots out of my back and shoulders. I love that he gets in deep but is always conscious to make sure the pressure is not too much.  Marty is a very professional and a fabulous massage therapist; my feet in particular are always grateful to see him!

I would highly recommend Marty to any client or friend of mine. I have worked with him both as a Colleague and as a client. I trust him and his judgment. I truly believe he cares about his clients well-being and he is just such a genuinely nice person. If you haven't had a massage before or are new to Rolfing, Marty would be an excellent choice.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Marty when I signed up for a 2 week intensive massage course at the SF School of Massage. This was a vacation for myself after a difficult time in my life, both professionally and personally. Marty was one of the 4 amazing teachers I had- the joy he has working in this field was evident for all of us in the program. And the amount of knowledge he brings to the table (pun intended!) - I left the program with a new found respect to body therapists. In class, with just a few moves  and within 10 minutes, Marty was able to bring relief and repositioning  to my tailbone area, which I had hurt several months previously due to a bad fall. This area had been paining me for about 10 months- I could not believe the difference I felt. The protruding bone in the area of my lower back- gone. Recently, I saw him for a private one-on-one session for extra work in that area and in my shoulder. I immediately began to feel a difference in the movement of my body. He also went over a few body mechanic positions with me as well as gently explained proper ways of sitting. Stress is part of our lives. I'm on a journey to learn how to balance it but I'm also on a journey of learning how to ask for help. Marty is a great source for help and I'm grateful that our paths crossed. :) Go see him if you ache- he will take the pain away as well as teach you in the process how to eliminate the pain from happening in the first place. Thank you Marty!!

I am actually studying to be a massage therapist.  I am an athlete and I continue to pull my left hamstring.  I went to see Marty in the hopes that I has a trigger point and not a real pull.  I entered Marty's space and was pleased to see that it was sparce and real.  He had the necesary items.  It felt theraputic and not like a spa.  I am interested in healing and no so much in relaxation.  He spoke with me about my concerns and we even discussed the fact that I had a scheduled work out the next day and wanted to be able to perform.  He offered me the option of deep tissue work that could prevent me from working out the next day of more superficial whole body work.  His work was incredible.  He could feel all the exact parts of my muscle that needed the work and his pressure was just right.  I was so impressed!  The most effective massage I have ever had (and I have been to a lot of PTs who work too hard that the muscle is too sore to perform).  I would recommend Marty to anyone who is looking for real healing in a completely comfortable environment.
