The location on Piopu beach is wonderful nestled among other hotels on a crescent of beautiful beach.  Perfect place to watch the sunset!

The resort itself is smaller than most Marriott properties and is a low rise resort which reduces the views you have from your room (the views are nothing like the Kauai Marriott or the Maui Marriott) but the property is beautiful and well maintained and once you walk out to the beach you can really appreciate how beautiful Piopu beach is plus you are on the sunny side of the island and almost always have beautiful sunny weather.  The villas are spacious and have a full kitchen.  There are barbecues for guest use so stop at the market and pick up some food so you don't have to eat every meal out.  The only negative was that the pool areas are on the smaller side and can get crowded and noisy.

The bar has a fabulous view and the bartender was so friendly as was all of the staff at the Waiohai.   There are other major hotels within walking distance so there was plenty of choice for meals or you can drive to Roys or one of the other restaurants close by.

There is no pool side food and drink service  and no on site restaurant other than the mini-mart type place.   If they added pool side food and beverage service that would kick the place up a notch.

Got to rank this place up as a top property.  I traded my timeshare in Lake Tahoe for this one.  Was very lucky to get it.  The place is based on Marriott standards.  Lovely location right on Poipu beach.  Multiple pools and spa's spread around the complex.  Very nicely manicured grounds.  The setting is truly lovely.

It has all the amenities you would expect.  Lots of beach chairs at the beach and the pools. Beach bar was handy.  Rentals of beach equipment was available.  They also have 10 outdoor grills for cooking which was a nice way to meet fellow visitors.  Also, they have a very modern playground area with top-of-the-line play equipment for the young ones.

Definitely it is set up for families.  Our unit was a two bedroom, two bath overlooking the mid-pool and garden area.  We could swim in the pool and look up and see our family members sitting out on the lanai of the unit. The place is very, very clean.

Parking was free for us, and we used the underground garage which was handy to the elevator to our room, and also spared us from the extreme heat inside the car if you have to park it outside in the sun.

Snorkeling is great just out to the left of the Marriott.  Surfing is great just to the right.

The Marriott Waiohai is available for regular hotel guests and not exclusivley for timeshare owners.  Check their rates as better deals can be had during the off seasons.

All in all a great place to stay.  Take a look at the website, and you can see what the grounds and rooms look like.  Very accurate.

I guess if this is your timeshare then it's a much better deal than if you are a hotel guest. Even with kama'aina rates we spent almost $400 on two rooms that weren't that special and didn't have beach views. When we checked in (the night of our wedding at 9:15pm) we were told that checkout the next day was 10am! When I requested a late check out we were denied despite the fact that many other people we knew staying at the same hotel were given 2pm checkouts.  Totally not worth it and who has a 10am checkout time at a luxury hotel?!  Though it was close to our second reception site at Poipu Beach I wouldn't stay here again.  Less than 24 hours in a hotel room is not worth $200.

My family are timeshare owners and I just came to the Waiohai for the first time (this was their second time coming). It's a beautiful resort, but I personally like the Marriott over at Kalapaki Beach better (we also own a timeshare there)! I like their pool and beach a lot better. But the Waiohai has it's perks too.

Things I like about the Waiohai:
1. Good snorkeling (at least at some times of the year) right there.
2. Fast wireless internet in the rooms.
3. A good resort store with lots of food, a coffee shop, little things you might need like medicine and sunblock, clothing, etc.
4. Surfboard, snorkeling, boogie board, etc rentals.
5. The rooms are large, very clean, and everything is new (plus there's a washer/dryer in the rooms too).
6. Great surfing.

Things I don't like:
1. The bar outside by the beach closes at 8pm. What the heck?
2. The beach is always very crowded, because it's right next to the National Park beach.
3. The pools are always crowded and overrun with loud children splashing around and jumping off the rocks (which is not allowed, but they do it anyways).

Great place, but I wouldn't want to be here longer than a week because I think I'd get a little bored. 1 week here and 1 week at the Kalapaki resort is perfect, so if you stay 2 weeks, I'd suggest that!

This is a nice property.  Only complaint is the central pool area gets rather noisy, and can be heard throughout the complex.  Otherwise everything has been great.  Large comfortable rooms, decent wifi, convenient parking, nice bathrooms and bedrooms, and a great beachfront location in Poipu.

We spent a week here with my stepdaughter and her two children (2 and 4), and the whole family was really comfortable.  The best thing I can say is, the room stayed out of our way, and we all had a great vacation.

This place is at a good location.  The layout of the room is the standard Marriot 2 bedroom unit.  But the location is very nice as the snorkeling is great, lots of fish and I did see a green turtle.  The layout is quite ok, but only one restaurant and no room service.  The staff are very nice.

My friend owns a Marriott timeshare which she swapped for this one located on Kauai. It was such a lovely property. The condo unit had a fully equipped kitchen and 2 bed rooms complete with washer and dryer. There were BBQing facilities downstairs as well as a marketplace where you can buy food items.

I took one star away because they do not come and clean your rooms every day, nor do they change the towels every day. My understanding is if you are a timeshare owner, they do this once during your stay per week. However, if you are a visitor paying a daily rate then you will get those service.

The grounds were meticulously kept, the pools were nice and so was the beach (they looked man-made to me like the one at the Marriott timeshare Ko'Olina on Oahu). During peak times, it gets seriously crowded so if you're up early, go early.

Free internet service in every unit whether you use broadband or wifi.

With a spectacular pool, great ocean views, right on Poipu beach, Waiohai is a great place for a family vacation!  The rooms were elegant, updated, and well kept.   It was great to have a kitchen area and an outdoor grill so we didn't have to spend money eating out every night.   We enjoyed watching the breaching whales and gorgeous sunsets at the beach on the lounge chairs the hotel provided.  The grounds were beautifully landscaped, too.

It's not cheap, but I think it's pretty comparable to neighboring condos and resorts.  In March, it was around $400/night for a 2 bedroom/2 bath with full kitchen and ocean view.  They have senior discounts and honor AAA, too.
