Beautiful, serene and luxurious.

I stayed here on my Marriott discount last year (109 suckas!) and have never felt so relaxed. I had my own bedroom, a huge walk-in shower, a gigantic bathtub and a view of the Pacific Ocean from my window that blew my mind.

Also the unit includes a washer/dryer and dishwasher in the suite, sweet!

Part of the pool was under construction while I was visiting but what the hell did I care with a delicious daiquiri in hand?

The condos are pretty big, with a couple bedrooms in this case, one with a large tub, and a two person walk in shower, a full kitchen and a balcony overlooking the bay.

This whole place is very big with 4 pools, tennis courts, a couple gyms (one being very small and limited) a small game room, and a small place to pick up some food.
The bar and restaurant here closes at 5pm on weekends so there is no nightlife in this place.

Which, once you realize everyone here is 30-80 and has children makes sense. This is a family place. There is an adult pool, but it is right next to the kids pool. So its not quieter. Better to go to the other smaller pools and chill.

All in all a nice place, but it is 1/4 mile to the beach, and you have to either drive or take a shuttle.
even the pools aren't a close walk to many of the condos...
Anyway, staff is nice, the rooms are decent.
HBO and encore on the tvs.
Beds were soft, but comfy.

I'd not choose to stay here as a younger single guy, but it was a good week away from life.

What a great place to stay on a mini staycation, especially  with an employee discounted room.  I had the pleasure of staying here this past Monday night, and I was impressed.  The Marriott is easy to find, right off Newport Coast Blvd.  Save time and money and get off at MacArthur.  The pools were huge, the view was amazing, minus the tiny bit of cloud cover.  Our villa had 2 bed, 2 bath.  The master bedroom was huge with a large tub and double shower.  We also had a full kitchen, full with pots, pans, dishes, etc.  The rooms all had tvs.  The room also had a washer and dryer.  Touring around the grounds was fun, a lot of little bunnies running around.  I would love to come and stay here again.  I was sad that I did not get to stay longer than one night.  They had a poolside bar, and a marketplace, with reasonably priced food items for a hotel.  A good place for an overnight stay, or a family stay.  That room was amazing though, bigger than most people's apartments.

I like to think of my parents as financially smart people. Until they bought this timeshare. They were sucked in during the presentation! They should've at least got the boat. Or the mystery box. Bonus points if you know what I'm refering to.

We came here the days after Christmas and had a very nice stay. The 2 bedroom villa is so spacious; enough sleeping space for 8 people. When my parents said we had a 'partial ocean view', I was expecting a tiny little view that you could only see from one of windows; actually it was a nice view from the balcony. It was so beautiful that my friend wrote a haiku about it.

The location is prime. Newport Coast is where all the rich and famous live. If you go to the fountains by the front desk you can see the houses that they showed on the opening of 'The OC'. Irvine is not too far, but be careful driving Newport Coast Drive at night because there's no streetlights at all.

Like what Jonathan K. said, avoid the tolls! If you're coming from the 73, exit MacArthur or Bison and save yourself $1.75.

I might come back here as a guest trying to get a free weekend here.

Across the street from Pelican Bay a short walking distance from the unspoiled beach lies the beautiful Marriott Newport Coast Villa hotel, part of the Marriott Vacation Club property.  The view from the hotel can only be described as breathtaking.  One of the best in the OC.  The timeshare property also comes with full kitchen facilities, many beautiful pools including a HUGE main poor.  Poorside entertainment like a ping pong table, outdoor chess set, pool side dining, etc.  The only thing lacking from a traditional hotel is a five star restaurant and daily maid service which keeps it from earning a 5 star review from me.

we've been coming here (thanks to my aunt's generosity) for about four years now (maybe more? seems like forever).

the two-bedroom units are nicely-sized and it *looks* like the furniture got updated over the past year since we've been here, but i could be wrong. the location is great--fashion island up the street, irvine over the mountain (for your chinese food cravings!), not too far from the freeway (see tip below). (unfortunately, it's super far from the rest of our family that's down in LA, meaning lots and LOTS of driving. grr.)

we always come the week of christmas so it's not super-crowded in the outdoor areas, so no comment on that, but there is often a line to check in (what, no gaudy free christmas ornament this year?), so be prepared to wait (sometimes a long time--requests to switch rooms to an ocean view require a phone call that can drag on for minutes [many people seem to do this, but seriously, can't you just be happy with what you have?]).

tip: get off on MacArthur (from 73) and save yourself the toll. just a bit longer to drive but definitely worth saving the $1.75 or however much it is.

do NOT do the tour that goes down to tijuana with the crazy lady. not worth it. yes. homegirl is crazy.

p.s. never had a problem with the free(!) wifi.

From the room adjacent to the hallway you can sometimes hear people walking past to the point where I thought someone was pushing on the front door.  I don't recommend getting a ground floor room because you can hear the pipes whenever someone upstairs flushes or uses the shower.  I love the koi fish in the fountain.  Its all about the view for me and my mother was disappointed that ours did not include the golf course.  Last night I screamed when something ran under my bedroom door towards the bed.

It wasn't until it stopped between the curtain and the nightstand that I realized it was a rat.  The balcony always has a view of the ocean where I watch the sunset all week.  The double shower can make you temporarily deaf.  There's also table tennis by the ocean-view pool.  They have check-in in the driveway now.

We just returned from our three nights and had a great time. Like a couple other posters, we were there for a timeshare intro. We arrived on a Saturday. Cheryl at the Express Check-in desk was very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, our villa was not ready yet - it was already 4:30 in the afternoon. We strolled around for about 20 minutes or so before we received our key card.

Our room was on the ground floor and while beautiful and comfortable, I would have preferred a view of the ocean. If you're trying to get someone to buy into a timeshare, how about a view of something other than another building?

The two bedroom/two bath villa was a great size with a full kitchen and a large soaking tub and dual head shower in the master bedroom. The ceiling fan in the master did not work, but we decided to not contact the front desk - just opened the screened windows. The bed was comfy with lots of pillows and there were plenty of nicely sized absorbant towels in the bathroom.

A previous poster said there is a shuttle to Balboa Island - no longer which was a disappointment. Although it isn't a long drive, still would have preferred to leave the car. They do still have a shuttle to the beach and Fashion Island shopping center.

Our 90 minute presentation wasn't too painful and I wish we could have bought. But alas, it wasn't to be. We received our "thank you for listening" gift card and were sent on our way. Not pushy and they were still smiling.

There are about five swimming pools now - three in the main area. The largest is for both adults and children. One is for adults over 18 years of age; the other for children under 18. Pool bar menu is limited, but the food is good and not terribly expensive. Pool towels were just out of the dryer - nice and warm. The grounds are kept nicely with fragrant lavendar and rosemary around the perimeter.

Our three nights went much too quickly. I'd go back again, given the chance.

The rooms are a good size but basically what i would expect in the 2 bedroom timeshare condo world. Its not really fair to compare it to a hotel room, its a different experience. Nicer, more pricey. We did it in one of those come listen to our buy a timeshare deals so it was not that bad, but I am sure it costs a pretty bag of pennies.

Everything was clean and the place is pretty new. The beds were 4 star beds, very comfortable. Little thing, but a lot of hotels rarely wash their top bed spreads... these has zip on/off covers and were regularly cleaned. The big bath in the master was also a treat. In terms of the rooms, the only thing I would say is I would trade for 1 nice wide screen HDTV instead of a big honking standard def tv in each and every room.

The currently have 2 pool areas. A cluster of them in the center, crawling with kids and action. This one has a snack bar etc. They also have a smaller one off to the side which was a little more sane. Both max out at about 4 feet deep so its good for kid play. They are building 3rd pool area which will be focused on the more adult crowd, quieter, drink bar, etc. Overall the pools were very nice.

Aside from the pools, the amenities on site were sort of lacking. There is an overpriced spa and a fitness room, a very small kids play room (which they make way too big of a deal about considering its size) and some basketball hoops. And of course, a golf course. But I would expect more. There is no restaurant on site (they have to build one in a coupe of years), I would expect a casual dining/breakfast place and a nice expensive place at the very least. I would expect free use of a sauna and maybe a nicer hot tub (this could come in the grown up pool area I suppose). And I would expect more things to do without getting in your car and driving to the Beach or fashion island.

Like the second poster, we were here on a 'come hear about our timeshare' special for the weekend.  Permit me, if you will, a brief detour.  Why, if you're trying to convince a potential customer how great your place is, would you book them in a room at the corner of a busy intersection? I spent the evening and morning listening to traffic zipping by my window. And while the cute 'get your vacation started!' welcome gift on my counter when I arrive to my room is a nice touch, opening it to find a small box of Tide laundry detergent just sends the wrong message. 'Welcome! Now clean up, you filthy out of towner!'

The room was nice, on a par with the better hotel choices in Las Vegas (though larger of course). The kitchen and laundry facilities in the room were generously sized and the master bathroom has a sizable soaking tub. (Alas, no jets.)  The property feels quite similar to the standard issue Orange County upscale apartment complex, which was off-putting from the get-go.  Our room was in a three-story stucco building that was part of a trio surrounding a concrete parking lot. (They decided to pave an awful lot of the area, despite there being underground parking under some of the buildings.)

The staff were friendly and we did have free in-room wireless (whose connection was so poor from our room I'm using a laptop card to post this - thank you AT&T!). There's a spa (which we didn't visit) and a pool area (which was attractive and reasonably sized, though it seemed like it could get quite crowded during peak season).

All in all, the place wasn't bad, it was just unappealing.  Given its prime location and the photos in the literature, I was expecting much more.

Gorgeous resort, overlooking the Pacific ocean, across from Crystal Cove State Park.  The beds are super comfortable.  Dish soap, shampoo and soap are furnished.  One pack of detergent is provided with the washer/dryer in case you need to do some laundry.  The most recently built villas have 3 flat screen TVs and 1 DVD player.  It's a great place to stay if you need two bedrooms.  The villas are super clean and the grounds are beautifully maintained.  There is free parking and wi-fi.  We didn't use the pools or other facilities, but they looked wonderful.  We rented by the night, so we had daily housekeeping service and were not subject to the time-share pitch.  If you are coming in as a time share visitor, I don't think housekeeping is provided. There is no room service or restaurant on the property.  The sound proofing on the villas is not that great, we had loud neighbors above us that made a lot of noise running about their room.  If noise is a big issue, you may want to look elsewhere.  Other than that, our stay was perfect, I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to others.
