Another high-quality Marriott resort.  My family travels to Hilton Head every year, and often stays at Barony with our timeshare.  Barony has all the amenities, is close to the beach (no long walk like at Surf Watch), and has great condos.

It's definitely a family destination; as a twenty-something still vacationing with her family I'm in the minority, but still have a great time.  There are activities scheduled throughout the day, including live music at the pool, ice cream socials, poker tournaments, and movies.  Most are geared towards kids but anyone can participate.  There are two pools: a larger pool right off the beach, surrounded by cabanas, a beach bar and grill, and plenty of lounge chairs, and a smaller pool further back with a volleyball net.  The lushly landscaped courtyard in between has grills, shuffleboard, and swinging seats.  Lots of things for when you need a break from the beach.

The building that houses the lobby also has a marketplace with overpriced food and souvenirs, an indoor pool, a spa, and a decently equipped fitness center with lots of cardio machines, dumbells, and weight machines.  There are also ping-pong tables outside.

The condos themselves are fairly new and tastefully decorated.  I noticed new flat screen LCDs this year in ours.  They're also quick with maintenance - one of our overhead lights was dim, and they came up that day to fix it.  Conceirges are available to guests to assist with any vacationing needs you have, whether it's within the resort or suggestions for restaurants, bike trails, etc.  Everything is Marriott quality and designed to ensure your vacation is relaxing and fun.

I really have nothing negative to say about Barony.  It's everything I'd expect from a Hilton Head resort.  I'm just sad I couldn't stay the full week this year!

If you are a Marriott timeshare owner avoid trading to this Marriott.  If you trade and you do not own multiple Marriott week's you end up in the Garden Villas.  The Garden Villas are not up to Marriott owner standards. Although you think you are going to be on or near the ocean, you are not.  It's a very long walk and there is little or no view.  Most unit balconies look at other buildings.  I love my Marriott home timeshare-Shadow Ridge in Palm Desert.  All units are beautiful and whether you own a Marriott timeshare unit or not, you end up with a great unit. There are too many other great resorts on Hilton Head to trade to-check them out first!

Very nice Marriott resort. Staff was friendly; suites and facilities were clean and comfortable. Easy access to the beach (walk out gate, walk over 20-foot bridge, step on beach) and a swimming pool every fifty feet (I'm only exaggerating a little bit). Lots of activities for the whole family throughout the day (both inside and out).

Stayed for 4 nights in August on a Friends and Family (marriott employee) rate for $119 per night.  Got hit up several times for a timeshare solicitation, however, they took No for an answer politely.  was told a week sells for $28k plus $1k per year in taxes.  OUTRAGEOUS!  Timeshares are a rip off, however, this property is nice if you can book through a re-sale service or get a deal from Marriott.  2BR, 2bath full kitchen, several TV's, big dining room and living room area.  Great for families or two couples (although one room has two queen beds).  Easy access to the beach, biking trails, etc.  Front desk staff booked my golf for a very reasonable rate at two different couress not affiliated with the timeshares.  Will definately stay here again, but not as an owner.
