Review Highlights
Came here for a business banquet earlier this week. We were put in the Synergy2 room which was located on the 2nd level of the hotel.
Appetizers were great! We had lamb chops, crab cakes, as well as seared ahi tuna in a wonton shell.
Grilled Filet Mignon
- Perfectly cooked - Medium Rare
- Sauces were flavorful
The salad was mediocre.
Service was prompt and friendly, despite being in a conference room. Wine and even juice was constantly refilled throughout our event/meal! :D

*This review is for a wedding only!*
My cousin finally got married with his girl after dating for 12 years! After a beautiful outdoor ceremony, we went inside the hotel for the reception.
We had appetizers and drinks before the reception. The fruit punch was good. Fruit was sweet. I like the pineapple a lot. A lady walked around with trays of toast with cream cheese to pass out to the guests. There were a few different flavors: ham, smoked salmon, garlic, and blue cheese. Fried wonton with chicken and cheese. It was good, but oily.
Reception hall was opened, and we headed to our seats. The table was full, really full. Everyone had like different glasses of drinks, and no room for anything else.
We started with a simple green salad and bread. The citrus dressing was on the sweeter side.
For entree, I got salmon. It came with rice, spinach, and red bell pepper. The fish was moist and tender. I think it was the best entree comparing to the other two choices.
Dr. P got steak. It looked good, but didn't taste that good. The steak was way overcooked. It was more than well done, and very tough to eat.
My brother's girlfriend ordered chicken. I had a bite. The chicken was tender, and the stuffing was great.
Berry sherbet for dessert. It was a little bit too sweet for our taste.

So my friend finally had their wedding! It was a beautiful wedding - and the Marriott's gazebo was very fitting for their ceremony. I do have a few hang ups regarding their staff. Our banquet coordinator was awesome, but there seems to be a slight case of communication breakdown with their staff. We were told one thing and the staff would do the opposite. It was plain annoying. The food was okay - when we taste test it, it was far better.. but you have to take in consideration the amount of food they were cooking at once - 200 people.
Furthermore, there was another wedding taking place the same time on the same floor as my friends - which caused a bit of confusion considering both parties were Asian (of course no excuse!)...the other party would have to past our party to go to theirs. It made it harder for me to locate the banquet manager that night - I have a feeling they were being pulled in two fifferent directions. When they were around - they were awesome...
They were super cool when my friend puked in the front...

I like this Marriott, clean place, nice setting. Helpful people. Good for local weekend get away, just to get away. (I'm a local).
We've stayed at this Motel twice...and have never been disappointed with our room or customer service. Marroitt's truly goes out of it's way to please the customer.
The beds wonderful, our room spotlessly clean and well supplied.
The location is perfect too. The motel is just a few blocks away from a small shopping center which has a Trader Joe's and a Rite Aid for last minute needs.
Since we were in San Francisco for several days, we requested a refrigerator and small microwave...no problem!
We plan to stay again next year, we just love being spoiled!!!
One star for the service and my overall experience at this hotel.
Stayed here for a wedding. The lobby was nice, and there was free internet, only in the lobby though. The courtyard for the ceremony was beautiful! The reception room was long and oddly shaped, and they used these weird orange lights that wasn't very flattering or pleasing when shining directly in your face when you're eating. Typical reception food of chicken and salmon that wasn't very good, very bland. But it's ok, we were there for the wedding, not the food. Got a suite for $129, with 2 queen beds and a sofa bed. The room was big, with 2 tvs, and appeared clean. The bed was comfy. The bathroom had red spots on the tub and on the ceiling, odd. And there was a hole in the wall where the knob hits the wall, because there wasn't a door stopper. The tub and the sink wouldn't drain very fast, so you're standing on dirty water during your shower. It drained literally 20 mins AFTER I got out of the shower, and left a mess of suds and hair behind since it drained so slowly. Isn't this something that housekeeping checks when they clean the room before the guest's arrival? Ok, minor issues that I can deal with.
But what really pissed me off about this place was the service. You'd think the service at a 4 star hotel would be superb. But honestly, I've gotten better service at a Red Roof Inn! Since we had 5 people in the room, I called before we arrived to ask for extra towels. Simple request, not provided. So I was the shafted one who had to dry myself with a tiny face towel. There's no free continental breakfast. Ok, that's fine, even though many other less nice hotels offer it. So I ordered room service, 3 pancakes with 3 sausages and fruit on the side, for what I thought was $5, as it states on the menu. Turns out, the menu was confusing because on one page it states kids menu, and apparently the kids menu continued to the next page where my pancakes were listed. So I didn't realize I was ordering from the kids menu, which is not allowed unless a kid was really eating it. But I ordered by its name, and there was no other items on the menu with that same name, so I don't understand how the front desk lady taking my order didn't catch that I was ordering off the wrong menu to clarify with me. And she didn't ask me if I was ordering it for a child either. She asked if this was for one person. Probably so she could charge me more if I said 2 people were sharing the food. So the food comes and it turns out to be $17 instead of the $5+tax+tip that I was expecting. My bill looked something like this:
$12 pancakes and sausages and fruit
$13 subtotal
$2.60 tip (automatic 20%)
$1.40 tax
Total = $17
Lemme ask you, how does a $12 dish come out to be a subtotal of $13? The person who delivered it had no idea either so she went to ask the front desk. The front desk calls me and explained that to have the fruit and whipped cream on the side costs $1 extra, which they didn't specify on the phone when I ordered it and also didn't list it on the bill. Yes, for those 2 extra little bowls to put my fruit and cream in, instead of putting it on the same plate as my pancakes, cost me $1. They nickle and dime you every chance they get, hoping you won't notice, instead of clarifying with you to make sure you'd be ok with the extra charges, to ensure that you would be a happy guest. The lady on the phone was quite rude in her tone to me as well, even though I did not raise my temper at all. I was even chuckling on the phone because the whole thing was just so unbelievable to me.
The cashier at the Starbucks was rude and not helpful at all. He rolled his eyes when my friend asked for a holder for the 2 cups of coffee, a bottle of OJ, and a breakfast sandwich that she ordered so she could bring it back to the room on her own. It's also $6 for a newspaper there instead of receiving it for free at your door every morning of your stay. Unbelievable! Other guests from the wedding had similar complaints about the service they received during their stay. My husband and I travel a lot, and we stay in hotels all the time, ranging from 2 to 5 star hotels. And I usually love Marriott's, we got engaged at a Marriott! But this is THE worst experience in a nice hotel that I have had. Yup, will never be back here again.
Every year in December, Yahoo! always have its holiday party at the expo center and of course everybody is wasted and don't want to drive home drunk and get DUI. So I opted to stay overnight at the Marriott with the handsome Jimmy P, and its ALWAYS A PARTY with JM and Fro. So I found my sister and fro a date for yahoo's holiday party.
Party in room 2020, wait a minute thats my room, hahaha. I will have to agree with JM angry drunks are a no no!! Thank you to the staff of the Marriott for great customer service!!

The rooms are nice. Turns out that most of the floor are all from the xmas party judging from familiar faces, same slurred greetings and drunken gait. Hell, we invited a few people over for shots. Good times but word of advice.... angry drunks are a no-no!
and to the staff.... if you got any complaints of disturbances or happen to find saliva or what appears to be fist prints in the wall IT WASNT ME!!!

You can see this hotel off 101 next to the 92 connector.
Went here twice for my fraternity's annual end of the year banquet back in 2006 and 2007. I think we had the same ballroom both years, I forget the name. But I think it was like $120 or so that we were paying per couple for a plate of Fillet Mignon, Fish, or Chicken. The food was pretty good. I had no complaints on it. They gave us a salad before our meal and cheese cake and coffee after. One year we had a bar there, the other year we didn't. They usually comp you a suite if you rent out the ballroom. We always see a couple wedding receptions over here when we've had our banquet here. They got a hardwood dance floor in the ballrooms and we had our own DJ set up in there too. I'd say the dance floor was about 30' x 30' or so.
The rooms are nice, some with more space than others. Usually the cheap rooms you get either 1 queen sized bed or 2 full sized beds for around $110 if you're with a ballroom party. They got flatscreen TVs in the rooms too. Plenty of pillows and a comfortable ass bed. The ambiance of the whole hotel is pretty nice too.
I remember I had a small argument with my date in 2006 cause I was "supposed" to drive her home after, but we ended up getting drunk and whatever and we were about to sleep it out in my car or the lobby, then said oh WTH and just ended up getting a room at like 3AM. I remember their computers were down so we had to wait almost until 4AM to get our room. But when we checked out, I noticed that $0 was charged to my credit card. And I never actually got charged for that room. Awesome!
I think check-in time is around 2PM and check-out time is around 11AM. They usually charge for parking, but if you sleep over here and leave during check out time, there's usually no one at the exit toll and you can just leave without having to pay or give them a ticket or anything, or at least that's what I remember from my experience.

Stayed here a few weeks after staying at a Marriott in Florida, and it was the first instance that I realized they do *everything* the same at *every* marriott. In this instance, it was great because the beds are very comfortable. Overall, this place was great for a couple days. It was too cold to enjoy the pool though.
There's nothing in the area walking distance, and they know it. The prices at the bar/restaurant here are outrageous. Worst case of jacking up the prices I've seen anywhere in the world. That's the only reason they got 3 stars. It was that bad. 4 beers would set you back 30 bucks or more, depending on tipping. The entrees likewise were insanely priced and oddly limited.
The taxis in San Mateo aren't cheap either. If you travel personally, save up, the food/travel costs will bite you in the butt!
Pricing was okay for this Marriott, but I wasn't really impressed by it. It looks good and the room was fine, but I've stayed at better places. The overall experience of this Marriott was just so so for me. Location was near the highway, I don't know if there was a restaurant in there or not, and my room was just average. Also, no free Internet. I was glad to leave there to go to the San Ramon Marriott. That one is better in my opinion. It was earlier this month, July 2009, I was there. Pricing is reasonable.
We wanted to get away from our noisy home for July 4th. It was a last minute booking. The hotel staff was extremely helpful. We arrived early and the front desk staff let us check in early. The hotel was close to major freeways. Our room was on the top floor and was spacious. I got the best night of sleep in 2 months. The best part? We caught glimpses of the fireworks from our hotel room window.
Came for a seminar.
Nice conference room, large, has fireplace.
Lunch was buffet, was good mix of caesar, rolls, ziti w/ sausage, chicken, tiramisu.
Parking is about $1/hr, but the seminar validated, otherwise would have been $4. If you visit or stay here, save some coin and park a block before the entrance, there's street parking although I'm not sure if it's timed.
I have stayed at this hotel a few times. We keep going back because the rooms are so nice! The first time we stayed when we got there they room wasnt ready, and i was ready to just lay down and rest. The guy who was helping us could see that i was tired and without my even asking, he found us a room that was ready...this room happened to be the executive suite! wow, he was awesome for giving us such a great room for the same price we booked the original room. Now i know this is a rare experience but the next time we stayed the room we got was smaller, but had the same cleanliness standards as the huge room. the tvs are great and the staff is friendly. i would stay in this hotel every chance i get.
the only thing that sucked so much was the parking. they have this huge, huge lot with barely any cars...that you have to pay for. what hotel not in downtown sf makes you pay for parking? that sucked, everything else great!

This Marriott is a tad bit nicer than other ones. The seminar I attended here was catered almost identically to ones I have attended at other Marriotts, but the food was much better. They have the same square candies and beverage selection. Most of the meeting room chairs are OK on the comfort level, however they keep the air condition cranked up high and freeze you. I suggest bringing a blanket if you have to sit in a seminar.
The food is a step up from cafeteria food. We were served breakfast: scrambled eggs, bacon, chicken apple sausages, pork sausages (which were better than the chicken ones) muffins, cereals, lender bagels and 3 juices, apple, orange and grapefruit. I LOVE that they serve Starbucks. In fact all of the Marriott's I have stayed at had a Starbucks in the lobby and served it for the seminars.
The lunch was poached salmon and a chicken breast, laying in a pool of cream of chicken soup type sauce. It came with pear and walnut salad with a very strong dressing that everyone agreed was not good. Other sides: Basket o buns, butter, tea, green beans, and rosemary potatoes, creme brulee for desert which was runny and not very good. They definitely fill you up on the meals.
Afternoon breaks are good they have Haagan Daaz Bars, warm pretzels with cheese, icky grocery store type cookies, brownies, cracker jacks, root beer barrels and lemonheads. Depending on the courses.
Down side: you have to pay for parking. $20 a day!! Which is crazy, when you spend TWO thousand dollars on a seminar!
There is also a full bar here downstairs across from the Starbucks.

I had the best sleep ever in this Marriott. The linens and pillows were the softest I've ever felt. This place is just plain great! I came here with 3 friends and figured it was just a place for us to rest our heads but turns out this place has a gym and great pool.
The room itself was very spacious. Your usual: TV, 2 queen sized beds, nice and clean bathroom. We were on the ground floor so we had a view of the parking lot, which ok. We kept an eye on the car. The staff is really nice here. We walked in really late a couple of nights drunk and stumbling and they didn't care. They smiled and graciously bid us, "goodnight!"
The only bad thing about this place and most other Marriott's is that you have to pay for parking. Since this hotel is in a residential place we found parking in the street not too far away from our room. Also, it turns out that San Mateo is known for having a very high percentage of single men. wtf! There wasn't a good looking single woman in sight! It's ok, we hit up SF and we found the ladies!!!!

It looks like a wacky castle...a short wacky castle. Of all the Marriotts I've stayed in, and that is a lot, none look quite like this one.
The first floor suites are nice and the lobby and concierge lounge are great too. I'd stay here again for business travel...except I live in the bay area now so I don't need to.
Parking is a pain in the rear. The number of spaces is fine but the whole booth thing is just silly. Why charge to park there? It's free for guests anyway so they can't be making that much money off the lot.

It's hard to compare places directly when there's a price disparity. So I shall judge the place purely on the hotel itself and add any caveats about price in my review.
I was looking for a little bit of luxury close to the airport and the Marriott were offering a special which I gladly took advantage of. It's a few minutes south of SFO on the 101 and is letrally minutes off the 101 and 92 (San Mateo bridge).
The neighbourhood didn't look too promising but the hotel looked quite grand from the outside - I think the description of a castle from the outside from a previous reviewer is a good description. The reception area looks big and inviting and the staff were very efficient.
From the size of the property, perhaps they could have given better directions as to the nearest car park entrance to the room. The room itself was lovely with some little luxury touches like nice toiletries and bathrobe. The TV was huge with HD and digital channels but perhaps not the biggest range of channels. The bedding and bed was super comfortable. There was no noise at all from the freeways.
So why not 5 stars? Firstly, the price is certainly pushing this property into a higher band and so more should be expected. It's a bit cheap to charge $15 for parking per night - public transport is non-existent from the hotel. Then they also charge for internet access in their 'business centre' - come on guys, much cheaper chain hotels offer free computer use. The only 'free' computer for airline check in was broken - maybe I'm being a bit cynical here! The swimming pool was outdoors and small. When you're paying the higher price, you don't expect these little annoyances.

I didn't stay here but instead, came here for a wedding ceremony. I was surprised to see that the wedding was outdoors in the Marriott courtyard which had a very nice gazebo and was very picturesque.
The staff was pleasant and helpful and there was even a lobby area where the gracious bride & groom posed with friends/family for photos after the ceremony.
The vegetables and fruit were devoured within minutes and sadly, there wasn't any more to be restocked with. However, they had these delicious puff pastries that just melted in your mouth. Overall, a beautiful ceremony and comfortable chairs. My only complaint was the parking lot and the booth. Parking was free for guests so it didn't make sense to even have the booth there to accept parking tickets when it was comped anyway!
The exterior of this building is a welcoming sight in an area of generic lodgings. It displays an updated Mission style, with red tile roofs and Mediterranean architecture. As for the interior, it offers a daring design not common at an airport business hotel. Unlike many of the chains near the runways, this property offers bold, urban design. Whimsical arched red sofas line the lobby, which also houses the Calfornia Grill & Bar and The Marketplace. Spacious guest rooms offer contemporary appointments, large televisions and some great Bay views. Accommodations are known as The Room That Works, as they have been specially designed for business travelers and include two-line phones and data ports. The outdoor pool and fitness center are well above average. The sights of San Francisco are just fifteen minutes away.
I think this hotel is HAUNTED! Eek, that's right, no joke!
I stayed here with my husband for a 2 week stint. Why so long you ask? Well, we were in the middle of selling our house in San Francisco, and this is the only place I could find that had ground floor rooms to accommodate my service dog.
Anyhoo, after our stay there, we had to stay at another hotel because still, our move wasn't done yet. When my husband asked if I'm sure that we're definitely no longer staying there, and I said yes, then he said good, because I think that hotel was haunted.
Since we stayed at a suite, it had a separate living room. Late one night, he definitely saw a shadow walking back and forth the living room. Well, no one was supposed to be there. Since there were no windows in there, it couldn't have been caused by people passing by either.
As he told me this, I told him that yeah, as a matter of fact, I do recall a dream I had when I was there about me laying down in bed, and someone walking up to me, front the side near my feet, all the way up to near my face, and leaning forward and looking at me. I couldn't recall the face, but I remember it was a male figure. When I woke up, so or I thought, or whatever, I dismissed it as a freaky dream and thought nothing about it. Thanks a lot to my husband for mentioning this on the hindsight.
For those who don't mind or like this sort of thing, then go ahead and check-in and see for yourself. We had room 1001. For those who don't like this, don't stay there.
BTW, did you know that before the remodel, I believe this used to be the Dunfey? I remember the ShanCo ads "Across from the Dunfey, in San Mateo..."

I was in attendance for a Yahoo Holiday party with Junel L., Jimmy P. and Kuya JM. However, since I didn't stay here overnight, I was able to check out the room that they were staying in. Worst scenario, no-no on an afterparty after a great ending from the yahoo party. Large King size bed and plush pillows....great to knock out and sleep in....if I had the chance. Oh well. At least their lobby area was amazing!

Spaceous and clean room. Very comfortable bed and sheets. Wifi access available in froom but not free, and doesn't work in conference rooms (must get separate access).
Modern decor, generally clean hotel throughout. There's a small gym with weights and a couple or so treadmills.
Pleasant and helpful staff.
Literally next to two big highways, but you can't hear them from your room.
Attended http://salesforce.com training (which is right across the street.) and stayed at the San Mateo for 4 days. This hotel had some of the best customer service I have ever encountered! They were always eager to answer questions, or to accommodate any need. The hotel restaurant was pricey, but served delicious food! Loved the workout facilities as well as the pool and spa! Rooms were great and beds were super comfortable! Internet access / WiFi are NOT free. You can pay by the 24 hr day, or for a week. They offer a great shuttle service to and from the SFO airport that runs on the hour. The driver was very helpful in suggesting routes to Fishermans Wharf and downtown. I would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone, regardless of your traveling needs might be.
We got married in Vegas and came back to share our news with a reception and after-party at the SM Marriott August 2007.
RE: reception - had about 60 guests arranged in the restaurant's outdoor patio. the patio was beautiful with a water fountain in the center and entry into the bar of the restaurant. the food was great @$35 per person offering pre-selected entree choices. the entrees were yummy and got high reviews from our guests. they accommodated our own wine/champagne for the event as well as our ice cream cake. professional and personable staff, everything went smoothly without any stress.
RE: loft suite - very nice modern decor with 3 flat screen tvs, well equipped bar (empty fridge for beer/wine w/ bottle opener) and comfy bed. also had two bathrooms, one on each floor. there was plenty of rooms for the guests. they also offered a great group rate so many guests stayed the night. also, to refer on another review, they did have two phones one on each level (maybe they took the posters advice).
It was a very memorable night and they did everything right to make it turn out that way we envisioned.
Highly recommend this venue to host an event and definitely for hotel accommodations. close to hwy 101, hwy 92 to I-280 but no road noise.
Helped some friends migrate here because they got a good online deal for the room while visiting. While the hotel itself seems like a nice enough generic upper middle class lodge, they were stinkers on several other points:
1) Walked in the lounge and asked the price of a room for Friday. They would not give a price and told me to call a 1-800 number to get a price. Now I understand the advantages of centralized booking, but WTF? The employees aren't allowed to access pricing info? I don't expect they'll give me the best price at the hotel itself, but at least don't give your customers an incentive to book through Expedia rather than use your stupid 1-800 number.
2) Local calls cost $1.00 per. Nice try! Disposable cell phones cost $20 at Target these days.
3) They have a really small 5 min limit roundabout in front for pickups and dropoffs, and the rest of the parking lot is fenced in with $1/hr parking for visitors. Guests with cars pay $14/day extra for the spots. This might be ok in SF, but come on. The lot is humungous and space is not exactly at a premium here.
On the bright side, it is walking distance to a Trader Joe's so you can avoid bad hotel food if stuck at a conference.
There are plenty of other hotels in the area that I would choose over this one.

I've stayed here twice, courtesy of my Marriott rewards points accumulated from over 75% travel when I worked at "Big_Blue_Company".
First time was three years ago, to attend my beautiful cousin's wedding to her lovely Irish man. My date was a person I fooled myself into thinking he was my soulmate. The net-net of that experience: reception wonderful, service great, room ok, my date went "Brokeback" on me!
This weekend was the Yahoo! Xmas party at the nearby SM Expo center, and my bestfriend asked me to be her plus_one guest. I suggested we use some of my Marriott's points so as not to risk drinking while under the influence of free wine.
I gave the San Mateo Marriott's a second chance to redeem itself and give me an experience of a lifetime.
Staff was flawless, both online and in-person service was great! We had two large beds each equipped with fluffy pillows and warm comforters. The bathroom was clean with mid-scale amenities, no fancy marble, but simply clean. My best friend and I spent wonderful pre and post party hours chatting about politics, history, technology, while enjoying the convenience of not having to drive after a party, it was a wonder for the girls' slumber party!
The only disadvantage I am compelled to point out is that the walls are too thin, so that early morning noise of vacuuming floors and other chatters-by intrudes on peaceful slumber. Aside from that, it is a good hotel for business or to sleep over after a weekend party venue.
The price tag, $0.00 for those who dilligently collect frequent flyer and hotel points when traveling for business or pleasure.

Had the "pleasure" of staying here while taking the bar exam at the nearby Expo Center. I snagged the bar rate at $105/night, so it wasn't that bad for me, but some of my friends paid around $200 or more. Bed was pretty nice, too bad I couldn't actually sleep. Towels were stiff and scratchy--harsh on my pasty bar skin. The TV channel selection blew -- no MTV or Bravo to allow me to watch the few summer shows that helped me maintain my sanity.
Somehow they comped my parking, though, and at $14/day, that's worth a star in and of itself.

What is the deal with charging for parking? This probably the only non-urban hotel that I have ever been charged for parking separately from my hotel room. In fact I think I forgot to submit the parking on my expense report when I stayed here in September.
The hotel is a standard Marriott. The concierge lounge is one of the nicest of any of the Marriott's that I have stayed at.
Good location right off the highway and 15 minutes south of the rental car center at SFO.
attending my lovely niece's wedding, remodeled and looking very "mom" good, very asthetic, manicured grounds and natural wood everywhere ... food and beverage good to very good. mgmt staff on top is good, service staff subpar and thats a shame because of the nice job everywhere else ... four stars will be there when service matches ...
DO NOT RESERVE ROOMS HERE FOR YOUR WEDDING!!!
I cannot get over the terrible customer service that I am currently receiving from such a reputable chain.
I reserved a block of rooms for my wedding guests at this hotel. I originally wanted to book 40 rooms, but they said they'd need a credit card to hold more than 20... so I said ok and reserved 20... as the 20 started to fill up I called back to reserve more rooms... they said there was no need for me to reserve more rooms, that they would just add people to my room block as needed - Great! I thought. EXCEPT. Then they SOLD OUT the ENTIRE hotel to some convention without even so much as an email or phone call or ANYTHING to me to let me know that EVERY SINGLE ROOM was about to be taken. My wedding guests will have to scramble to find new hotels all over town now, and I won't have the nice convenient after party in the hotel bar and brunch the morning after in the hotel restaurant that I wanted. They basically RUINED a very large part of my wedding. I'm disgusted. And every time I call to see what's going on it's like no one who works there has any clue about anything. I'm transfered, and put on hold, and sent to voicemail. It's awful. They are giving me the total run-around. It's quite obvious that they only really want to cater to big conventions and not to regular hotel guests. So sad. Wish I had known sooner.
Do yourself a favor - book your smallish engagement elsewhere.

This is a beautiful hotel: really emmaculate with fantastic service. I didnt actually stay the night but I came here for a trade show held in one of the banquet rooms. It was spacious and we had a catered breakfast & lunch. Although the food was just average, the presentation was flawless. The staff was at our every beck and call and adhered to every request promptly. Only complaint was that the hotel was a bit TOO large, I got all lost walking around looking for rooms and conference halls.
great service, everyone was soooooo nice.
beautiful property as well.
only reason why i gave 3 stars is because im spolied rotten and i'm an rc kind of girl.
but you know, for normal people - this will do you just fine :)

I loved my stay here! Such friendly service (the front desk attendant was so accomodating-he hooked our room up to one of the rotunda suites, and I know he didn't have to). The rooms were awesome-wow the suite is great-lounge and bedroom separated. The parking was find and plentiful, service great (everyone was great), and I will stay here again. It's not in the city, but it's close to lounges and local bars (Mandala Lounge, Gossip, Blush, Vinyl Room-all which are cool spots to hang out)
I've stayed here a few times. The remodeled rooms are really nice. The older rooms are just OK.
Tips: 1. Park on the street if you want to avoid the parking fee. There is ample street parking behind the hotel. You might have to walk a little, but you might have to do that anyway because of the hotel's sprawling layout and relatively few doors.
2. Do Priceline if you want to stay here. You can get this place for really cheap, assuming it's not a sold-out convention weekend or the days of the semi-annual CA bar exam. Like $60 or less. Check one of those Priceline bidder forums first to see what rooms are going for.
I stayed here when a townhouse I was supposed to move
into in San Francisco flaked on me in 9/05.
They claim to be 15 minutes drive time from the
airport, but even at 12am, I never got there that
quickly. I had to complain to get moved into a decent
room. Otherwise, it's the "old wing", the one
pre-remodel.
The newly remodeled room wasn't all that either. Just
decent to look at, but the words "papier mache" came
to mind a lot in describing the look of their rooms.
Also, I stayed there on a Friday night and boy, the
lobby was a huge pick-up joint. Was I just being
naive? I'm not sure.

The place looks like a Caribbean Resort Hotel from the outside. The rooms don't disappoint. Amazing bedding; brand new mattresses and tons of pillows. The decor is top notch; I think I wound up at the concierge level rooms when I stayed there.... that may explain some of the negative reviews. The front desk is beyond slow, and they will charge you just for looking at the in-room phone. Local calls are at least $2.00, and they even charge for toll-free calls. Their restaurant is a basic average to below average diner with New California delusions. Parking will cost you close to $28 a night. On top of everything else you have to navigate through a maze to even get to this property from the freeway. A very bad layout makes self parking a royal pain, so you kinda have to valet. I wouldn't stay at this property unless it's a last minute overnight thing, and I'm using their airport shuttle (which by the way doesn't run very often.... be sure to check).
Decent place for a couple of girls to stay overnight. The room we had was clean and the overall space was fine. The staff were polite, helpful and overall the place was well kept.Ofcourse,I should mention the beds were comfy and didn't feel like a hard box when you laid down.
