We only stayed here for one night but the experience was pleasant and I'd stay again.  In particular, the service was excellent.  We booked via Priceline and got a very good rate...like $60 for the night.

    PROS:
-Super friendly service: the manager was great when checking us in and gave us all  kinds of useful information.  One of the staff even drove us to Bell's Brewing Ecletic Cafe saving us a cab fare.
    -Large, clean comfortable room
    -HDTV
-Convenient location right off of I-95

    CONS:
-Small workout room and one treadmill was out ot order

Since I was only there one night, and more precisely I was passed out most of if after drinking a ton of Bell's beers, I can't provide much more insight.  However, if/when I'm back in K-zoo I'd consider staying here again.

I came here regularly for awhile many years back as each of my college friends got married nearby. It was nice, new,  super clean, roomy suite style hotel. I really liked it and I think those are the pictures from the website, taken some ten to fifteen years back.

Flash forward to this summer. We booked in on a short stay in the city visiting friends. What a freaking dump. I was embarrassed to invite them in to the living area and there was a bit of a funky smell in the kitchen. In fact our non smoking room smelled very much like it had been smoked in recently, yuck. When I complained I was told we're all booked lady, gee thanks.

The bed was downright saggy, like falling into a hole saggy. I woke up twisted up in knots. It was too soft even for James. The bathroom was not well kept, clean but the kind of place you can no longer get all the way clean as it is so dingy.

The freebie toiletries consisted of one bar of soap, I don't like sharing between the seperate roomed shower and the sink thanks. I called for more and they acted like I was so demanding, heck I was offering to swing by and pick it up myself, geez.. Don't get me started on what their extra pillows were like, yikes.

We were kept up all night by rowdies in the parking lot, oh yeah and one I think was actually a member of the staff. Complained to no avail. The noises was such that we could not sleep and ended up sleeping through the very short lived freebie breakfast, heck we barely got out of there on time.

Staff was useless. Experience wretched. Even corporate did nada for us.

    Never again. Ugh.

Oh Steve R, we have so much in common!  I too, live in chicago, and I too travel to the Zoo for work... every stinking week.  I, however, was smart enough to stop staying at the RI...  After 2 straight years every single week of being a weekly customer, I tried to negotiate a rate with them so that I didn't have to pack up every single week, and I could have my cat there; they wouldn't budge.  So I said "screw it" and got myself a short-term apt. lease.  Works out much better, although now they're trying to screw me too... so we'll see.  But I've been here for 2 years as well.. hey, wait a minute... is it the 2 year coincidence???

They did recently renovate the whole place, but having been there for 2 years, I could totally tell that it was purely cosmetic:  new linens & drapes, new sofas (still crappy), new mirrors in the baths, but everything else stayed nasty and cheap...  this is a privately owned business, so don't blame Marriott!

Like most Res Inns, it's overall pretty agreeable but I think it's the little things that make the differences in these places.  The carpet was clearly way cheap, the bathroom tile was old and sorta dirty, and I thought it was a little pricey considering the condition of the place.  they only have bare-bones cable too.  That said, their pool is real nice.  That's about all I can say about this place.  Good enough for Marriott, better than most for hotels in general.
