When I was a growing up, one of my favorite books was "Eloise At The Plaza." (This is not going to be a short review packed with useful information, so if you actually want to know about the Marriott Residence Inn, I suggest you skip to the last paragraph. For more on the literary predilections of the young Pumpkin K, ready on...). Eloise lived at the Plaza Hotel in New York City with her tortoise, her pug and her nanny. She had the most marvelous adventures and I dreamed that someday I would go to The Plaza and order room service and have tea and all kinds of adventures. And lo and behold, I did. And I even stayed at The Plaza and ordered room service and had tea and made friends with a very nice lady who came by each evening to  turn down my bed and give me chocolates. And it was every bit as fun as Eloise made it look. Being an adult is AWESOME.

So I blame Eloise for my penchant for posh hotels, and the fact that a uniformed doorman makes me feel in my tummy like it's Christmas morning. Fortunately, in between jumping up and down on the beds of five-star hotels, I went to law school and landed a job that that indulges, to a degree, my penchant for posh hotels (either on their dime or on a salary that accommodates an occasional splurge). But sometimes I'm kind of a hotel snob, and that makes it awkward when traveling to locations like Longmont. "Oh GAWD, darling, is there really no Four Seasons in the area?" says my inner hotel snob.

Enter the Marriott Residence Inn, to challenge my preconceptions. The staff was extremely friendly (am told this is a red-state trade off: there are more Republicans, but they're the really NICE kind, not the mean urban Ann Coulter types). The breakfast buffet was surprisingly plentiful and there's an indoor pool. The best part is that all the rooms are set up like little apartments, with a sitting area and kitchenette and bedroom. Nothing opulent or super-fancy, but very clean and practical. My colleague recommended it because she was here for a couple weeks and so she was buying groceries and making dinner there and everything. This place left me feeling five-star but on a three-star budget. Hurray!

This is actually one of the nicer and friendlier hotels I have stayed at.

Here are some of the perks:

1) Complimentary breakfast that includes scrambled eggs, a waffle station, fruit, bagels, cereal, juice and coffee.  The eggs are decent if you get there early otherwise they are as hard as rocks.
2) Complimentary beverage hour from 5-7 M-F.  Free beer anyone????
3) Daily service, even for extended stay guests.
4) Right of off 28th on Valmont; biking distance to Pearl St.
5) Very friendly and helpful staff.  By far the best aspect of my stay here.  The very nice woman at the front desk recommended LiquorMart to help me get my booze on and even wrote down directions for me.  That  is what I call service!
6) Swimming pool and fitness room (only treadmill, stair-master and elliptical).

Overall, I would stay here again and recommend this place, as long as you can swing the $120-150 a night.  Luckily for me my comp. has this one covered =).
