Excellent Hotel.
Great location. Your right in the middle of time square. The room view was really nice. You are either facing Time Square or the Hudson. Both are very nice. I prefer the time square view and of course its the most popular, you might have to pay a little extra for this view.
The subway station is about 3 blocks away at 42 street.
The hotel had an issue with the elevators being very slow. People commented they use to be about a 15 min. wait. But they were just revamped and I did not wait no more then a couple of minutes.

Stayed here once, years ago.

Very fancy. Very clean. Expensive, but that is what you get for staying in such a convenient tourist area. All the restaurants in the hotel are awesome.

To be honest, I don't remember much about this hotel, as I went there 6 years ago for a ANIMUCON.

All i can say is that I met 3 people there that changed my life. 2 of which I still talk to, and 1 that when batshit crazy thinking she was sailor moon....but thats a whole different story.

Eh, generic hotel I guess.

but Jtari 4 life.

Practically on Times Square, if you are lucky enough to get a room facing Time Square, you are in for a treat.  This is about as good as it gets.  Getting to The View, the revolving restaurant with the view is a little confusing.  The midnight buffet at The View features delicious light fare and desserts a plenty for one price, they stress no sharing, so watch out!

Stayed here a couple of summers ago.....

Pros:It was beautiful and immaculate.

Huge comfy king-sized bed, lovely view of the hudson and the city.

Awesome restuarant, 'The View', on top of the hotel, 365 view of the city, delicious cocktails.

Humungous hotel, with a great design & layout.

Cons:
I did go as a tourist but I get annoyed by them easily and the prices that swindlers set forth when you are one, especially staying in Time Square. Next time I would stay out of this area for sure....

Its so damn pricey! You get what you pay for though, when I stayed here a couple of summer's ago, It actually was a  'hooked-up' price, we still payed over a grand for 4 nights. Yikes!

But if I could, I would stay here again....or another Marriott location.

My favorite Manhattan hotel - too bad the only time I get to stay here is when my husband travels to NYC in business.    Prime location, great rooms, the only downside is the elevators can be a little slow and the system to call them is a bit weird.

I wish I could stay here more often when travelling for my own company.

This Marriott holds a special significance to me as I first entered this Marriott a decade ago.  It was where I attended my first job fair which lead to my first job.  It was exactly as I remembered it during a recent stay, a whirlwind of activity with people and taxis coming and going.

Right past the valet and taxi stations are revolving entryways that seem to never stop turning.  Once you time your entry through the revolving doors, one would expect to see the lobby.  No not here, there are only escalators, elevators, and a security/information counter.   At night, the security guards check your room card before letting you proceed to the elevators.

Taking the elevator up to the 8th floor is the lobby.  Upon check-in, the staff provides maps and information about NYC for first time and frequent visitors alike.

My room was nice and even though it faced 45th street, I still had a nice view of Times Square.  Decor was not modern but adequately updated and clean. Although you can view all the hustle and bustle down in the streets below, I did not hear a single sound.

Even though I did not use the gym, I took a look and it contained a plethora of machines and equipment that would definitely rival any gym.  The machines face Broadway so while working out anyone can scan below for the naked cowboy.

This is in Times Square.  I didn't stay here, but visited a friend's room and they had the suite, which was awesome.  The couch had a pullaway bed and they had a rollaway bed too.  The view was the best, you could see Times Square and all the lights from their room and I liked the inside too.  There is a separate lobby for the rooms and you need a key to go up.  The inside reminds me of something from Star Wars or something and the Hilton in SF.  It's all just rooms and all uniform (I guess you have to go there to know what I'm talking about).

I want to stay here next time.

We had our caricatures done right outside the hotel at 3a in the morning by this Chinese dude.  It's $15 for two people.  But they get you when they put it in a cardboard and plastic frame and coax you into buying it by telling you that it's necessary to preserve the charcoal drawing.   In the end we paid $35!  So it's a trick.  But I'm still glad we did it!

I stayed here for my conference for six nights. Its located in the heart of Times Square

This place is clean. The service is very friendly. The elevators are computer controlled so its only downfall is when it gets really busy like during the conference I had.

The rooms are really nice. You have two couch seats to chill on and very comfortable mattresses. You'll either get a view of New Jersey and the Hudson or of the flashing lights of Times Square. Housekeeping does a good job cleaning up.

They have a bar on the 8th floor as well as other restaurants. The main lobby and business services are also located on the 8th floor. The service is really friendly. 24/7 gym on the 23rd floor.

Make sure you check out The View restaurant and lounge on the 43rd floor. The elevator to it is on the 3rd floor. But there you can see gorgeous views of the manhattan skyline including the empire state building.

No outside alcohol so make sure you bring your backpack to smuggle some in.

I'll stay here again if I had the money.

I've stayed here several times for work.  It's very close to the office buildings on 45th street and elsewhere.  As far as being in the middle of things, you can't really beat this hotel.  Everything is within five blocks if you are visiting. . . Bryant Park, the theaters, MTV, Letterman, etc.  Times Square is closed off this summer to traffic, so there were numerous tourists watching the Lakers game on the big screen, as they sat on the tacky but charming swimming pool lounge chairs.  I hope they turn it into a park.

I haven't eaten at the restaurant but I've grabbed a drink at the top, great views.  Try to stay on the 40th floor or above for the best views.

I am a huge Marriot fan being Platinum for many years. The Marquis is an excellent hotel located right in Times Square. Service is good, the restaurant is the standard Marriot type of restaurant.  The concierge area is large and well stocked. The downstairs bar is a nice place to meet people and the bartenders do a good job. I would recommend the Marquis to anyone planning a trip to NYC.

WOW what a hotel. I have stayed here on multiple occasions for work. It was barely out of my way to go into the city, but if they were willing to put my up at the Marriott Marquis how could I say no?

The hotel is crazy expensive, clearly, but when you aren't paying how can you complain? Typically I would get a room around floor 15 and it always a nice view of Times Square from the room. Even though I was right there, I definitely never heard anything.

A couple of weird things about the hotel are around the set up. Because its NYC real estate is obviously at a premium, so its a tall skinny building. Due to this they put the lobby on floor 8. No idea why but they do (note: if you ever are at a broadway show floor 8 bathrooms dont lock, but the entry level ones you typically need a room key to get in to).

A nice thing though is that their room service is actually pretty reasonably priced. Can you believe I actually can get an order of chicken fingers cheaper with room service than I can at Fridays? Even with the room service fee it still is cheaper, it blew me away when I figured this out.

Been coming here for 20 years for an annual January conference and as others have said, the location is great.  Two Starbuck's in the hotel bring this from a 3-1/2 to a 4.  Bar is a good area and the Superbowl party has much improved since the days when they rolled out a single TV for everyone to try and watch.  Buffet was pricey for bar food, but they have a captive audience and had lots of give-aways.

The elevator improvement they did about 5 or 6 years ago makes sure that the wait isn't very long, even in this busy hotel.  Rooms are starting to show a bit of wear and the extra charge for internet access is higher than most places.  To use wireless you have to use a Visa or Mastercard which is a bitch if you are traveling on a corporate Amex.  They should really re-think the extra charge on this.  In fact it is a prime justifier for going to a mobile modem.

I heart this hotel.  While I attempt to avoid Times Square as I do the swine flu, the central location is perfect for those in town for just a limited amount of time.

My pal's room on the 15th floor had an amazing view of Times Square and two huge, super comfy beds and a giant flat screen TV!  The only things that dissatisfied me with this hotel were:
(1) inefficient cab line....it literally took us longer in the cab line than it would have if we walked a block or two away.
(2) Broken fan in the bathroom....not fun after a hot shower when you need to blow dry your hair for a night out on the town.
(3) Charge for internet - lose it!  At this day in age, wireless signals in hotels should be free.  Most other hotels are doing it - Marriott you have got to get with the program!

Overall, I'd suggest this hotel for business travelers who can expense the internet and want a central location.  But as an ex-NYCer, I would never pick to stay in the middle of Times Square.  There are so many better spots in New York to stay - which isn't a reflection on the Marquis but moreso on the location.

PS- If you haven't already heard, glass elevators are totally DOPE!

This is a perfect treat for friends traveling in from out of town. The Marriott is HUGE - almost like a small island unto itself so you can admire it's largess as you take the elevator up to the 48th floor for The View....this is a spinning restaurant where the cocktails are $16 (for strong martinis like white peach and pear) ... you can opt for the $33 inclusive buffet or just get the drinks.... go on a nice clear evening and it takes an hour to make the full rotation..Yep this restaurant spins and after one drink on an empty stomach..so may you.

The location of the hotel is fabulous, right in the middle of Times Square ahhhh. The elevators are crrraazy! They are super fast and get you to your floor regardless of how many digits it is. The room that I stayed in had two queen sized beds, a nice tv/dresser cabinet and a large and fancy bathroom. The view was great as well. This hotel also has a rotating floor at the very top that allows you to see all of Manhattan's skyscrapers and the length of Central Park. This place was amazing. I would definitely come back here again.

I'm from HI but I live in DC so whenever folks from home come to visit I bring them to NYC and we stay here for the touristy Times Square experience. I love the elevators and all the restaurants in the hotel and also how convenient everything is to the hotel. I've stayed a few times and will definitely be back.

I love the energy in this hotel!! You find yourself right smack dab in the middle of Times Square, can we say location, location, location, people! The decor is purrrrrrty! Take my advice and remember that the lobby is not located on the first floor, I can not remember exactly but I do believe it is on the 8th floor, the elevators are a bit tricky, especially if you have been drinking, but remember "you can do it"!! Don't give up!! Once you make it up to the lobby there is a very yummy sushi restaurant inside! Room service here takes forever and is expensive, and plus there are SO many wonderful places to eat in the city, so get yourself out there!! This hotel is definitely a fun place to stay in NYC!!!! :)

This review is for Atrium only.

After a long day of Post-Christmas shopping with two friends in Macy's and Manhattan Mall we walked to the Times Square theatre district in search for a Starbucks where seating was available.  Our next search was Junior's which to my complete dismayal on a Saturday night of Christmas weekend there was a two hour wait for our small party of three.  We abandoned our wait to re-charge our energy at the nearby Marriott Marquis Hotel at the Atrium.

The Atrium is very relaxing without the hassle of feeling rushed to finish your drinks or meal.  It's a warm atmosphere where patrons finish a day of shopping can re-charge.  Definitely worth a drink compliment of a dessert.  The restaurants are on the 8th floor.  N.B. Don't bother waiting for elevators as you'll be waiting for an eternity despite of the speed as it'll be too crowded to catch one, take the escalators instead.  This hotel is gargantuan with numerous rooms.

The View Restaurant is a revolving restaurant with panoramic views of Manhattan as it's definitely a tourist trap.

I will start off by saying that I did not stay at this hotel but I planned an event here. I would never stay in such a touristy location for my room. This weekend was the ISA conference and we were holding an event for alumni of our school. Despite the fact that the event before our ended only 30min before ours started the event staff managed to turn over the room in about 15min leaving us time to set up before any of our guests arrived.

They provided signage for us and took care of all the set up. I was highly impressed by the level of professionalism that the staff showed despite the small window between the events. Our event went great and flowed without a hitch. The AV in the room was perfect, the catering arrived on time and was good quality.

Yes the price is high, but you are paying for the location. It is a perfect place to have an event if you want a large turn out.

I love this hotel.  The best Hotel I've stayed in NYC so far.  Loved the crazy elevators, especially when you are coming down.  The gym is pimp and everything is very new and modern, relative to other hotels in NYC.  It is right in Time Square so it is central to the subway and everything you want to see.  I'd definitely stay there again.

Definitely would recommend.

We were back at the Marquis for our annual January conference and for the first time, we didn't get a room with a view.  Bummer, we never realized how much we enjoyed the Times Square view until it was taken away from us!

Ah well, same great service that one expects from Marriott and the room was just fine.  Can't beat the location, smack dab in the middle of Times Square.

Location. Location. Location. There's no other way to experience New York other than to stay in the heart of Times Square! Everything from Broadway Musicals http://www.yelp.com/bi..., The Metro, TKTS Booth http://www.yelp.com/bi..., Restaurants http://www.yelp.com/bi..., Desert Spots http://www.yelp.com/bi... , Bars, and Blood Sucking Hot Dog vendors are all conveniently located around the Marriott Marquis Hotel!

Though this hotel lacks the modern flare and posh characteristics you get from a W Hotel. The Marriott Marquis makes it up with its great service and assortment of amenities.

Our room had two full sized beds, which still left enough room for 4 adults, and fitted with the essential 32" LCD Screen. The Beds were comfy and eased me to sleep without counting any sheep. The Bathroom was roomy and was supplied with your typical designer bath bars, shampoos, and lotions. If you're lucky, like we were, you'll have an awesome view of the BRIGHT Flashing Lights emitting from Times Square!

What we enjoyed the most were their Breakfast Lounge. There was an abundance of food and drinks which would hold you over and save you some serious coin!

The only gripe about this place is that the elevators were intended to use in some star wars movie. Because when you're going up. You'd think you'd hit Hyperdrive and get set off into space. When you're going down you'd think you're plunging down to your DEATH!

----------------
Rye's Notes:
*Stay away from the surrounding Hot Dog Vendors lurking to suck their teeth into your wallets!! They prey on ripping people off!
*Closets Metro is on 49th Street
*Stock up on drinks and snacks at the breakfast lounge

Definitely going to be my go to hotel in NYC from now on. Its in a great location right in Times Square in the theater district. The room my girlfriend and I stayed in was great. It was a decent sized room with a large flat screen TV, a king size bed, and a great view of the city.

The hotel overall is huge. It has a great system of elevators that reduce the amount of time you have to wait. There are a lot of elevators and you type the floor number you are on and it tells you which elevator to take to get your floor the quickest. Very convenient.

There were a number of different restaurants in the hotel.  We ate at one that had a great view of Times Square.  I had the short-rib sliders which were delicious and actually pretty cheap.

All in all, I recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a great hotel right in the heart of Times Square.

I stayed here on my very first trip to NYC and I think I made a great choice!  I was there for the SMX East trade show.  I wished I had asked for a room on Broadway, but I still had a sweet view of Junior's downstairs so I was okay :)  My room was the perfect size and I had a flat screen TV with HD channels (which came in very handy since I was there on a Sunday and football season had begun). Service was great and the valet guys rocked.  Another thing I liked was that the Discount Broadway ticket counter was just outside our lobby, which made it VERY easy and we got ourselves some good seats for Legally Blonde!

One thing I was amazed with was the elevator system.  Maybe I'm just a dork because it was my first time there, but I thought it was so cool that you entered the floor you were going to and it told you which elevator to get into and there were like 10 of them so there were people rushing all over the place!

This is my family's hotel of choice on our trips to New York.  The location is marvelous, right in the theater district right off of Times Square.  Rooms are nicely furnished and comfortable enough for a snuggly family of five.  The hotel is huge with a grand lobby and open views of floor after floor from the elevators.  And the elevators - they're smart elevators!  High-tech and convenient so you don't have to wait around not knowing when some elevator from 30 floors up is going to remember you.  Maybe I'm a bit of a wide-eyed child for this city, but these machines won my wondering heart.

I sent a copy of my review to the Marriott hotel via their website and this is the email response I received.  Glad to see that they listened and something (I hope) has been done about it...

Dear Mr. Zambrana:

Thank you for taking the time to contact the Customer Care Department at Marriott International regarding your dining experience at the Broadway Lounge. As always, we appreciate any type of constructive criticism from our valued guests as it allows us with an opportunity to make any corrections and improvements which will enable us to better serve our guests.

We apologize for the service being rushed and visibly not enough staff on when you dined in the Broadway Lounge. Your comments have been shared with Terry McAneney, Assistant Director of Food & Beverage so he can address your concerns with his management and the Broadway Lounge staff.

Mr. Zambrana, we appreciate your feedback as a tool to better our commitment to service excellence. Once again, we convey our apologies for the inconvenience that you experienced. These rooms are HUGE by NYC standards. OMG!

I needed a room for 3 - for myself, my husband, and my sister - so you can only imagine how awkward a "too close for comfort" room could be.

However, I was thrilled to see that not only were we able to spread out, but I even witnessed my sister roll out a yoga mat and do a private practice. Yes people, this was in a New York City hotel in Times Square!! Who knew?

The drawback? it is very pricey. I have a Marriott rewards card, so my room was free. However, now that I've witnessed a real-life big room in NY (yes, I pinched myself several times to make sure I wasn't dreaming), I might be back on my own dime.

Oh, and I do hate supporting big corporate places like the Marriott, but I am fed up with paying a fortune for a closet.

Stayed here for an entire week for work and enjoyed every minute of it.. well, for the most part.....

Location alone deserves 5 stars; in the heart of Manhattan, Times Square, next to all of the Broadway musicals, across from Juniors...Loved it.

The rooms are BIG and COMFY. I could sink in my King bed and lay there for hours. I need to buy myself a down comforter and feathered pillows.....and a King Bed... Also, you'll know if you're in a great hotel, when they have a REALLY good blow dryer in the bathroom.. and THAT, they definitely had. Too bad I wasted extra space in my luggage to carry my very own.

I love THEIR lounge/lobby on the 8th floor.. And I love their FOOD. We were able to capture a remarkable view of Times Square. Also, the View Lounge on the 47th floor is amazing. It's a revolving restaurant, and you can view all of Manhattan.

Staff was GREAT.. So good that I'm actually going to fill out their Marriott survey. I don't know how they're able to accomodate everyone because there was like a gajillion meetings going on all at once...

The elevators were definitely different. At times, it could be very slow because of all of the other people trying to get on. Kinda weird, but cool how you have to enter what floor you want to go on, on this device that's against the wall... Then it tells you and directs you to which elevator to go to, whether it'd be Elevator A... or Elevator B... There are, I believe 10 elevators on each floor, in the middle.

Gym - BEST HOTEL GYM EVER! Every cardio machine had its own television, and they supplied you with some headphones. They also had a good supply of free weights and weight machines... and you can grab some fruit on your way out.

I loved this hotel. 4.5 stars, minus .5 for the elevators when it was slow...

Great location, convenient when you are in New York to do the theater thing.

Check in is on the 8th floor in a large airy, well lit space that is shared by a shop, an agent that sells you the various tickets for things around town, a lounge and of course a starbucks.

The rooms are big, especially for New York & furnished well.

The View Lounge on the 48th floor is something definitely worth experiencing & the appetizer and dessert buffet makes the $30 ($26 if you went on the Grayline tour and got the coupon).

The starting point for most of City tour buses are within 2 blocks of this hotel, which is very convenient when you are with people who want to do that.

Finally if you end up with a view looking down at the Virgin store, you might just catch a glimpse of the Naked Cowboy first thing in the morning, whether you like it or not :)

just go: well, where to start?
firstly, the location, that was the best! it is literally right in the heart of times square and within walking distance to most big sights- central park, rockafeller, 5th av, empire state etc, and the subway station is real close for further out attractions. If you are staying for the shows then you are right in the middle of all of them! the Atrium was an attraction itself, with the glass elavators going to the top! the choice of bars/ restaurants was great, the Broadway Lounge had one of the best views of times square, there was a sushi bar, a normal restaurant, a bar to gaze at the atrium, 2 starbucks AND A revoloving restaurant ontop of the building! The staff are nice and assist you with your needs, the rooms are very spacious and the beds are VERY comfortable, i couldn't think of a better location to spend my first time in the big apple! enjoy

I am a regular at Marriotts, hitting Platinum status for the past few years with a nonchalance that would come only from a traveling salesperson or, as in this case, a poor, traveling consultant.

This one is very Times Square-compatible.  Very touristy.  And really cheesy in its decor.  Being that I am from the city, I have not stayed at the hotel, but have been inside on several occasions.  The setting at the atrium on the 8th floor is glorious but again, the ostentatious showiness is garish and off-putting.

I am more than annoyed when non NYers extrapolate everything there is to NY from what is in view around Times Square.  Give the big, bad, cool city a break!

Back when I was still a Chicagoan and a consultant (and thereby, Marriott whore), I would stay at the Marriott Marquis for its proximity to my client.  No, never ever in a million years would I stay anywhere near Times Square by my own free will.

If you are forced to be near TS, however, this Marriott will likely not let you down.  The rooms are all recently renovated, rather large (by NYC hotel standards), the staff is very attentive (maybe biased here as I am Marriott Platinum and therefore get top-notch service)...and the best part about this hotel...

THE CONCIERGE LOUNGE.  By far the best one I've been to at any Marriott (trust me, you name a Marriott, I've stayed at it).  Much better-than-average breakfast (includes hot and cold foods), great dessert bar at night, and free wifi all day long.  Plus, the guys who run the place are super duper nice and always used to brighten up my morning.  They'll even dig up umbrellas to rescue you from yucky, rainy days when the front desk's supply has run out.

I love this hotel. If you are in town and want to stay in Time Square, this is an excellent choice. The facilities in this hotel are first class. There's a lobby on the 8th floor that's magnificant. One of the best hotel lobbies I have ever experienced. The staff is extremely attentive and friendly. I have never had an issue that hasn't been promptly and professionally resolved to my satisifaction.

The only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is the restaurant at the hotel is OK. Typically, I wouldn't factor this in into the hotel review. But one of the reasons I stay at this particular hotel is for the overal facilities. Thus, the experience at the restaurant unfortunately in this case count slightly against it. The restaurant is not bad, but it's slow and quality is  just OK.

I must mention the fitness center on the 23rd floor. It is OUTSTANDING. I have been to many gyms and this is by far the *best* hotel gym I have seen. The equipment is top notch and fully functional. It's open 24 hours a day and provides an outstanding view of Time square. On each of the treadmills, there's satellite TV which for me helps pass the time when I am running.

Clean and seemingly well updated. Conveniently located. Wish the places to eat inside were less pricey or there was more variety or something. All and all, one of the best Marriott's that I've stayed at.

Okay so it's a big hotel at Times Square. It was interesting enough to visit. I liked the bar area with the lighted bottle racks and the lounge with the view of Times Square. I was there on business, so no complaints about paying the prices. I just wouldn't be paying them myself. By the way Times Square isn't square and it is really small. But hey I guess it is all about the image.

First off, let me say that I know I'm a hotel snob.  I've just gotten to that point in my life when I don't want to stay at a Days Inn anymore, and I can afford not to.  This will be bad for my checkbook in the long run, but who cares?  (My doctor says my heart will stop beating due to eating too much cheese by the time I'm 45, so I have to get all the good stuff in now.)

For my first trip to NYC since grammar school, my wife and I stayed at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square.  I'd really like to give it 3.5 stars, but I can't, so I'll give it 4, since I don't really feel like there was anything major that would warrant calling this hotel "middle of the road."

We stay at Marriotts a lot.  We stayed enough nights last year to get Platinum status, so we decided we'd take advantage of that (maybe get upgraded) and do a fun weekend in NYC.

My first experience in NYC in 20 years, and I had to drive into Times Square.  We did it early on a Saturday morning, so I can't say that it was really too bad.  My impression is that NYC really enforces the whole "don't block the intersection" thing, and pedestrians seem to stay out of your way when you speed at them, so we made it to the hotel in decent time.  The valet was quick and professional and informed us that we'd need to go to the 8th floor to check-in.  And while I'm thinking about it, they were also very quick with both the car and the bags when we were checking out the next day.

And so we went to the elevators.  They have a computerized elevator system that is interesting at first, then a little annoying.  There are about a dozen elevators arranged in a circle in the middle of the hotel.  You walk up to a central button panel and push the number of the floor you want.  A screen then tells you which elevator to go to.

While interesting in concept, the system broke down when 25 people were waiting to go up to the 8th floor and the computer sent us all to the same elevator.  You'd think that after about 10 people punched in the number, it would pick a second elevator to allocate to that floor.  Somebody needs to hire a mathematician here...

So in any event, after muscling our way onto the elevator, we went up to the 8th floor "lobby."  It is nicely appointed, as a higher end Marriott should be.  The front desk person told us there were no rooms available at such an early hour of the day, but happily checked us in anyway and gave us a sheet of paper to bring back later that afternoon to get our keys.  He then pointed us at the baggage storage folks who took our luggage until we came back in the afternoon.  Very friendly all around.

We then stopped at the concierge desk to get walking directions to the convention we were stopping in, and also asked her to make dinner reservations for us.  She seemed fairly busy, and I think she just picked the restaurant because that's where they send all the tourists for close italian food.  It wasn't the most personalized service in the world, but I can't blame her too much because there were half a dozen people waiting in line behind us, and I'm sure she wanted to get to them as well.

When we got back that afternoon, we went back to the desk and got our keys and asked for our bags to be sent up.  Within five minutes our bags arrived at the room - very speedy.  The room was on the concierge level, due to our Platinum status, and was very nice.

A few bad things here.  First the concierge lounge is not open on Saturdays.  Why not?  Saturday is a big tourist day.  Come on Marriott.

Second, we found two empty airplane sized vodka bottles in the robe hanging on the back of the bathroom door.  That was a little gross.  It made me think that the maid didn't bother either washing or checking the robe since the last guest was in the room.  Doesn't say much for the room staff there.

The view from the room was fun, especially since it was my first visit there.  We enjoyed hanging out at the bar on the 8th floor looking down into Times Square for drinks.  In fact, we enjoyed it so much, we stopped in there twice.

Also of note - every time my wife picked up the phone from our room to talk to hotel staff, they spoke to her by name, and identified her as a Platinum member.  Those little details are nice and show they care.

As for price, I think it was about comparable to other rooms in the area, so no real pluses or minuses there.  And I think the room was probably a little bigger than what I expected in such a crowded area.

So here's the summary:

Pros:
Location & views
Friendly check-in staff
Nicely appointed and sized room
Quick valets and baggage staff

Cons:
Elevators
Cleaning staff attention to detail - nasty robe
Busy concierge
