Came here for a bachelor party weekend ... Stay here at the Villas and walk through the golf course to Costas, the club at the JW.

You can test out how you rank with white women, married women and cougars.

If you decide you want to come to Palm Desert for something different, this would be the place to stay.  It's part of the JW Marriott.

I guess I'll mention they have a nice pool, golf course and the rooms were fairly decent.  We stayed in the two room suites which were perfect accommodations.  I had a good time during my stay.

All I remember was someone from our party kept saying .... "Palm Desert, it's a hidden gem."  I think he kept saying that because of the fun we had staying at the Marriott Desert Springs Villas.

The one thing that made this place for me was that it was pretty much all inclusive.  We had a short weekend stay and we hardly had to leave the compound.  We arrived Friday night and we did decide to step out (even though we didn't need to) and it was fairly convenient to find somewhere to eat and drink.  Once we got back to the villas though, we never had to leave.

Our plan was to play golf on Saturday, so we used the course on-site.  It's a fairly challenging course which was in decent shape.  I'm not really used to the greens they used here so it took me a while to get used to them.

The villas were pretty spacious and the location of ours was really convenient, with it being right next to the 9th hole.  It gave us a chance to stock up on water and beer for the last 9 holes.

Another nice thing about the place was one of the better clubs in Palm Desert is located on the premises.  It was nice to be able to walk across a golf course to get to the club.  The club itself was cool, from what I could remember.

Overall, I had a nice time.   I would definitely revisit this place and give it another go around.  I love golf and I like drinking, so this place acommodated me quite nicely.

The space was huge - we had a two room suite and the kitchen was well equipped.  Plenty of room to spread out. We invited friends for the weekend to use the second room because we felt guilty having booked it and then not making use of it.  There is clearly some wear - spots on the couch, marks on the kitchen counters and etc. But nothing terribly off-putting. It was clean and well furnished.
I made use of the washer/dryer, spa bath, patio furniture, salt water pools, and the gym. The gym got crowded around 9am, but otherwise no trouble getting a treadmill. The cardio equipment had personal TVs, HR monitors and the TMs were smooth.  It was a small gym, but adequate for vacation mode - complete with view of the pool.

I highly recommend seeking out Yesi for a massage.

My travel to Palm Springs was business-related, so I may have a slightly different perspective than some other vacationing reviewers.  We stayed in Villas II, which we heard were smaller than Villas I.  Our rooms had king beds and a tiny kitchenette of sorts (fridge, coffeemaker, sink, microwave--no stove).

The good first:   The setting is stunningly beautiful and the main hotel is wonderful.  We had the breakfast buffet, which, though a bit pricey, was absolutely fabulous! All the staff we encountered, from the restaurant, to the front desk, to the shuttle service, were extremely gracious and accommodating.  We also went back in the evening and took the boat shuttle to the restaurant--what fun!  The hotel has a great van service from the Villa II's to anywhere in the complex.  Our pool near Jasmine Court was clean and nice and all the grounds were lovely and well kept.

The room was pretty nice, with a nice patio, but it wasn't all that clean. I hadn't realized that housekeeping staff don't clean the rooms while you are there; they just replace towels and make the beds. However, it didn't look as if they even cleaned between guests--the rug, floor and bath were not very clean.  There were ants and a silverfish in the bathroom.  We were never given conditioner or lotion,  but the half- used shampoo was replaced daily for some odd, wasteful reason.   Although the rooms appeared to be soundproofed (I heard nary a peep from other guests, which was great), whenever my neighbors' AC cycled on, I practically sat bolt upright, the sound was so loud.  The  pillows were great, but the bed was uncomfortable--old and worn out--which is very unusual for a Marriott.

I also didn't realize there was wireless internet, since there was no information provided. Guess I should have inquired.

There is a great Ralph's market just down the street, if you want to 'eat in'.

I barely gave it two stars because the manager did try to accommodate us on making our first hour here a little better. The first room given to us was dirty and outdated. When I mean dirty, I mean dirty. i have stayed in motel  6's that have been cleaner. The shower door had scum, one the cabinet doors had mold growing on it there was stuff missing.
When we called down to the front desk and told them we were appalled by the mold growth and the lack of cleanliness, her first response was to send a maid over. My gf called back and said.. no we'd like another room.  After loading our week worth of luggage up the stairs, she asked us to drive back to the front desk. We were given a second room. We examined out next possible villa and it was even worse. Again, scummy shower door, dusty and gum on the carpet. I went out to the patio to discover a large pile of vomit and dog poop around it. Yes, vomit and poop. We called back and said no.. this is unacceptable. They again only offered housekeeping.
We went back to the front desk to be put in a third room.  We spoke to the manager who couldn't upgrade us because of the timeshare rules. She also didn't really seem to care or make any type of eye contact while talking to us.
The personally manager went over to our third villa and made sure if was clean. It was on the second level again. We unloaded our stuff from the first place, had to drive it over to the 3rd villa to unload it again up 2 flights of stairs.
ugh.
never again!
The kicker???  An extra $58.00 for housekeeping anytime we want our place cleaned.

I stayed in Villa 1 this past weekend, in a 2-bedroom suite that overlooked the golf course.  The televisions were a bit outdated, but the accommodations were great, and everything was clean.  We hung out at the hotel pool Saturday afternoon and noticed the cocktail service was very slow.  My friend ordered an ahi tuna salad, and the ahi tuna had gone bad.  It took a few minutes to get the attention of our server but after we did, she offered us another order of tuna, which ended up being cold and good.  The service at the bar was also rather slow, but they had a lot of people to wait on, so it's understandable.  The shuttle service from the villas to the hotel worked out on the way there, but finding a shuttle at midnight wasn't so successful.  We ended up grabbing a cab back instead.  The front desk of the hotel was very helpful in finding a pizza delivery service at midnight since the kitchen that services the lobby bar closes at 11.  We checked out Costas, and the girl: guy ratio was easily 10:1.  The guys, even the cute ones, came off as creepy though, just because the ratio was so off.

I stayed in a two bedroom villa for six days.  It was very nice!

My husband and I stayed in the second room.  It had its own entrance with a private bathroom and jacuzzi.  The room was very spacious.  I never used the jacuzzi unfortunately.  The wireless internet was very slow.

Since our villa included complimentary access to the spa at the JW Marriott, I never really took advantage of the pools, gym, etc.  The review for the amazing spa is under the hotel.

Short Version: I'm never leaving the desert.

Long Version: I've been to a resort or two, and this place is by far the nicest one I've been to yet. This place is amazing. I wish my home was this nice (Well, that makes going home a depressing thought now. Crap). They have all the amenities you could ever want, the landscaping is gorgeous (let's not think about how much water you need to send to the desert to keep lawns this green. That would ruin everything), the spa and local restaurants all rock, oh and did I mention the room? I love having my own jet-spa bath tub right next to my bed, my own patio, my own full kitchen, washer and dryer, dining table for six, multiple entertainment systems and the best air conditioning ever (Hellooooooo ozone). And I can't say enough about the staff; they are so helpful, courteous and kind (I'm sure they'd offer to come over and chew your food for you, if you asked). This place has it all, and I feel privileged to have experienced a stay here. If you get the chance, GO! You will absolutely love it.

My wife and I stayed at the Villas 2 which is newer 6 years new  vs. about 12 years old for the Villas 1.  The 1 bdr suite was very nicely furnished and everything you need just like home.  We didn't cook in the room and ate out, but the room was spacious, jacuzzi tub, seperate shower, laundry, full kitchen and FREE wireless internet.  We also had a patio with view of the golf course.  The room was cheaper than staying at the JW and we just took the free shuttle over there to access the restaurants and Costas nightclub.

I am not sure if I was in villas 1 or villas 2.  I would have to say 1 becuase it seemed pretty dated.  Anyways......we stayed here for free cuz my daddy paid for it.  So 5 stars for that!!!!!!  But, I will rate it anyways.  Our unit was ready on time and as promised, it was upstairs in a quiet end of the property.  VERY basic room, a counter area had a coffee maker and a toaster.  A small fridge underneath.  The room seemed clean but if you looked close it was a bit unclean.  Someone needs to clean all the doors around the handles and that kind of stuff.  Hand prints everywhere!  Black ones!  The bed and linens were very clean and very comfy.  The tv was big and worked perfect.  We went to the larger pool where there was a small bar and a small take out food/market.  The prices were sky rocket high-as expected.  There is a market up the street, a must do!  The pool and surroundings were pretty ugly and the pool seemed like it needed a good cleaning as well.  I could totally dig staying here again but probably wouldn't like paying more than $200 a night.

There are two pools in the resort.  Stick to the one by Building D, where it doesn't get deeper than 5' but there are BBQ grills + an ice machine nearby.  The main kiddie pool was not clean because of dissolved unblock and salty with urine.  This place lines a golf course.  We fit 11 people in one villa but two bathrooms aren't enough for that amount.

Okay, I didn't stay here, but some of my aunts and uncles stayed in an adjoining villa so we visited them one night, and while I have never used this word to describe anything, all I could say was "DIZZZZAAAMN!!!"

The villa was so much more compared to our dinky Residence Inn apartment. These rooms totally looked like a luxury apartment / condo. Tres nice.

Imagine a 2 master suites, 2 bath (with shower AND oversized tub),  kitchen with breakfast bar, fridge, formal dining area, and living room with a fairly good-sized TV (with satellite). It just seemed like a nice way to feel at home without actually having to be there. :)

I stayed in villa right before 2005 new years.  It was fun time...
This place has everything you'd want from a nice resort (in the middle of the desert)  few good restaurants on grounds even a lake with little gondolas that come and go right from the lobby of the main hotel structure..
O yeah .. GREAT golf course

amenities provided in the villas are pretty good, one thing i missed was high speed internet.. had to go to the clubhouse for that and had to pay:( but other than that .. great couple of rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, living room..... everything in top notch shape.. had some great views of the golf course and the passing little river..

I find it kind of amusing seeing soo much water on the property but once you leave the gates you're surrounded by desert sand..  they definitely do a good job in keeping the place looking nice.

we had 2 villas for a memorial weekend bachelorette party!

awesome!

even with a ton of girls there was enough space, everyone had room, no one felt crowded! there are pools scattered throughout the property, just be aware that in order to use the main pool (the one where you want to be, unless you have kiddies) you have to stay at the jw resort. not sure if this is just during busy holidays or all the time, but just wanted to give the heads up, because we had to FIGHT the entire weekend to get in...thank god for hot friends with connects *smile*

it's right on the golf course, simply beautiful!

and there's so much to do on site, that you don't have to leave if you don't wish, restaurants, shopping, clubs...you name it.

actually looking into going back this year! woo-hoo!
it's like a mini vegas without the long trek and slots ;}

If you have the cash or a week that you can exchange STAY HERE! It is by far the nicest resort in the valley and maybe in California as a whole. This is the only Marriott that I have stayed at that I can say, "wow, i might never go on a vacation again, but this place was worth it." The views are great, the tennis courts are nice and the golf is supposedly amazing.
