This is an average 3 star hotel.  A 1/2 star more for the free wireless

The hotel website said it is newly renovated, but it looks like nothing has changed since 1989/1990.  Reminds me of hotels I stayed in as a kid.  I asked for a room with a view and received a room looking on the wall of the building across and to each side (so basically I can see 15 feet across and 15 feet each way down into a deep tunnel.  Rooms are tiny as well, even compared to other Manhattan hotels.

Location is nice, but I would head elsewhere unless you are strictly on a budget.

The room almost makes me sad as I sit in it.

I have stayed in 20+ Marriott properties in the last two years and this is among the worst.  Every hotel chain has a few lemons that don't measure up to the rest of their properties and this is easily among the least desirable.

To start, the rooms are extremely ugly, typical motel decor and quality.

Typical "could not care less" wage apes operating the location, I observed people waiting in line for 25 minutes to ask a simple question while the staff was stocking the store and doing other things.

The internet connection is worthless, 2k/sec, relying on my EVDO because it is completely unusable.  Sadly Marriott has this problem in other locations as well but this is much worse.

This one is going on my list of "do not visit again".  Typically Marriott locations have somewhat of a middle quality you can count on but I guess given the location to the Theater district they are preying on tourists.

Avoid like the plague, there are 3 other descent properties in the city or more and none of them are of this low quality.

Needed a place to crash for a weekend and not fight with port authority.   For $200 a night in NYC and right around the corner from Time Square, how can you complain?

Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable but I have to agree with Irene. No 5 stars unless you are a 5 star hotel. No mints or turn down service?  Definitely 4 stars.

If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere!  Location location location...  The room (single King, non-smoking) is small by Courtyard and other NYC hotel standards.  For four Benjamins including tax I expected a little more space and amenities, even though I understand the high cost to operate in the city and making their money on business travelers.

Nevertheless, its proximity to Times Square and agreeable staff make up for some of these shortcomings.  Place is clean, no riff-raffs, not bad a place to stay.  Was able to hold meetings in the lobby and restaurant, so mission accomplished.

Spent the weekend here with Karen. Room was nice, location was clutch.  The two top points it gets? Free internet and free coffee in the lobby. Nice.  We also got a good deal on it, about $200/night, which was good too!  Why not 5 stars? Because it's not a 5 star hotel. And because they wanted $6 for the bottle of warm Evian on the table.
