Marriott Boca Raton
- Good for Kids:
- Yes
1 review for Marriott Boca Raton
While I wouldn't suggest anyone go out of their way to stay here, if you do need to be in Boca Raton, this place is a good value with some nice conveniences that outweigh the few odd quirks you might encounter.
The room
What's good:
- Comfortable with good amount of space.
- Nice size LG flat screen that pivots to face the work area or the bed.
- Free and reliable wi-fi at a decently set up work area.
- An empty fridge so you can stock up for your stay with whatever you want.
What could be a little better
- No mini bar, but there is a decent little store in the lobby to get yourself stocked up.
- The bathroom layout. It has the sink in a separate area just outside of the the shower / toilet, which can be fine. But you also have the room's one closet directly behind you and the door to the shower / toilet area opens out into the sink area rather than in (which seems like kind of a simple design mistake). Things can get crowded in a hurry.
- The TV channel lineup is kind of squirrelly. The remote doesn't scroll through every channel you have access to, it skips over pockets of channels - and important ones, too (ESPN, ESPN2). So you need to directly enter the channel number. Kind of a pain.
Common areas
What's good:
- The restaurant, Absinthe, is a nice space with both well designed indoor and outdoor areas.
- The gym is decent. Nice amount of cardio options, limited weight options but with some creativity you can make something work.
- The pool. Again, nice space with a bar that has Yuengling on tap.
General vicinity
What's good:
- Restaurant row. Right out beyond Absinthe is a stretch of other restaurant options (Opus 5, Big City Tavern, Uncle Tai's, etc.) And right around the corner you have things like Panera and Salad Creations.
- Big ol' mall. Think it's called Town Center or something. It's massive and has pretty much whatever you might need.
Service
What's good:
- The front desk. Very friendly upon check in and willing to be a little creative in getting us a room with a king bed rather than two doubles. Also received a clutch recommendation from the overnight guy who tipped us off on Nippers, a brilliant delivery option.
Finally, the value was excellent. Our room was $99 / night. That's a hotel price I don't ever see anymore as most of my travel is for work and the rates are 4 - 6x that rate.
Star scoring scale:
5 = Spectacular
4 = Better than average, really enjoyed it
3 = Average, don't regret it
2 = Disappointing
1 = Abysmal
