  This was the first hotel in Cape May that I stayed at. I loved it pre-renovations and I love it post. Before the remodeling, the windows were warped and made an irritating whistling sound through the night. Now that it's fixed, I can't say I have any complaints about the hotel!
  
  Not to mention, the breakfast is OUTSTANDING.

  I absolutely recommend the Marquis De Lafayette Hotel. I booked my stay a few months ago for a wedding and panicked the night before I arrived because I realized I didn't select a pet friendly room. The manager, Louise, could not have been nicer and made sure I had a pet friendly room when I checked in.
  
  I'm always skeptical of pet friendly hotels because sometimes those rooms can be less than clean. In the case of the Marquis de Lafayette, my room was spotless and in a great location. I loved that parking was free, we were centrally located and just steps away from the beach.  The room I stayed in was a bit small, but that's to be expected at a oceanfront property.
  
  Definitely recommend Marquis De Lafayette for a great value, especially if you have a pet!

  I stayed at this hotel in 2008 and had a good enough experience that I decided to re-book there for an upcoming vacation in June of this year.  When I called reservations I was quoted a price they then refused to honor when I began booking because they had messed up.  They wanted to charge me $30 more a night than originally quoted!  They would not fix the situation to my satisfaction.  DISHONEST!  Do yourself a favor, stay elsewhere!

  We respect your opinion however the clerk corrected an error she made in a rate prior to a confirmed and paid reservation. All information is reviewed and agreed upon by our customers before they are charged for their stay.  If an error had been made after the credit card was charged we would then honor our mistake.  However, the misquote was corrected before your decision to make the reservation was made and finalized, giving the opportunity to cancel the process before completion.  If you would like to contact us to verify you've reservation and rates please feel free to do so at your convenience.   I stayed at this hotel with my family and my dog.  The website states that the hotel is "the most dog friendly hotel in Cape May."  This is a lie.  They only allow dogs on the first floor and not even in the hotel lobby.  The manager threatened to kick us out of the hotel for bringing my dog through the outside of the hotel (rickety rusty staircase) to my brother's room.  She obviously was incredibly rude and the majority of the other staff were indifferent college age people who were not very helpful.  The hotel itself was clean mostly but kind of dingy.  The breakfast was alright - definitely not gormet - more like Denny's buffet.  The wi fi was down during my stay - plus it was quite annoying that I had to go to the 5th floor "library" - more like hallway - in order to access the internet.  I think 2 stars is generous for this overpriced beachfront property.

  The Marquis de Lafayette Hotel has the most Pet Friendly room available in all of Cape May County - 17 units with three different styles.  The Hotel has accepted pet guests for close to 25 years.  In an 83 unit hotel accepting pets and keeping those guests without pet comfortable can be a challenge.  There are a number of customers that have allergies to pets and experience severe asthmatic symptoms or are simply afraid of dogs, so keeping pets segregated to a specific area is necessary - all first floor rooms and suites.  To keep the balance we must have policies that protect everyone - even our four legged customers.  Our customers appreciate that they can bring their pets on vacation and understand the need for these requirements.  We are adamant about pets going to rooms that are not designated for their use.  The policies  work to keep everyone comfortable.  However, when customers feel they should not be subject to them and knowingly break with policy it jeopardized everyone's comfort, safety and the ability to allow pet to stay at the hotel.
