I used to spend about 5 weeks a year here and think that the facilities and service are great for anyone travelling for business. The beds are comfy, TV is big, showers are great, and it is easy to get around downtown using the sky ways from this location.

Before the economy fell to pieces, I had a bit harder of a time getting a short term reservation on the executive levels (especially when vying for my favorite corner room). Afterwards, not only did I get a reservation but when I stayed for about 2 weeks at a time I started getting gift baskets full of fruit, wine and cheese about once a week. Talk about appreciating your business. The executive lounge is a great place to grab some quick breakfast and I absolutely love Sherri that works up there. Even if it was six months between my visits, she would still remember that I liked green tea instead of coffee when I showed up every morning. Just great service.

The real kicker was that once I had booked a stay during a Hilton Honors triple point promotion but had not been awarded the points due to my not mentioning the promotion during my booking. Since I was staying 14 nights I decided to ask the Manager about it and he was able to award me the points even though I wasn't using the correct booking rate.

All of these things keep me very happy and a repeat customer.

Staying downtown in Minneapolis is the way to do it in wintertime.  I was here back in February for a week, and it was a dream to be able to use the skywalks to get wherever I needed to go downtown without having to brave the cold and snow.  There is even a shopping mall right across the street, in case you need to pick up anything.

I loved the hotel room.  The showerhead directly overhead is a nice touch!  I had a beautiful view of downtown.  I had no problems with the staff or my reservation as others seemed to have.

Parking was a bit expensive, but when you're downtown, that's to be expected.  It also took me a while to figure out how to properly get in and out of the garage.  (Yes, those big metal doors automatically open when you pull up to them...it doesn't mean the garage is closed).

I'd recommend it if you want to stay downtown.

I was so pissed off with this hotel and since there are tons in Minneapolis I don't have to worry about staying here again.
I checked in and they couldn't find my reservation....for some reason they decided to put it under my middle name first name...Cole Justin and didn't have my last name anywhere on it.  It took me about 10 min on my blackberry to get my confirmation # becasuse they wouldn't let me use the computer at the desk.
Then my bf and I go upstairs and we have 2 twin beds when I requested a king.  I go back downstairs and I am told that all kings are booked and they could give me a non-smoking room.  It took about 5 min for the girl to realize that I wanted a KING BED and didn't give a SH!T about the room being smoking or not!

The Marquette is a really nice hotel - the bed is wonderfully comfortable, the rooms are really good sized, and the rooms are perfectly cleaned each day.  The front desk are very helpful and will generall bend over backwards to help you find good places to eat and things to do.  Service is A+.

My only real complaint is that the hotel room service menu - from Basil's Restaurant - is really expensive and the food is really over-rated.  Not impressed.

All in all, I give the hotel a 4/5 - just stay away from the restaurant.

By far the WORST hotel I've ever stayed at! And I've stayed everywhere from Motel 6 to the Westin & St Claire.... Needless to say they were unaccomodating to an early arrival due to red eye. Most of the staff wasn't knowledgable or friendly in assisting us. Then when we waited for HOURS and were the first people there they gave the first available rooms to someone else and didn't call us when ours were ready. In addition when we did finally get rooms not only did it look as though someone just handed the keys over without cleaning it but the bathroom was HORRID. There was actual MOLD in it. I'm not a snob I don't have a fancy home but there certainly isn't mold in it.  The girl even had the nerve to ask "are you sure?" I replied as nicely -and stilll unshowered from my red eye- Why don't you take a look! So after a snide remark, and only after it, was I escorted to the executive suite which looked like a normal room. There was nothing executive about it except the lounge (free drinks). Did I mention I wasn't the only one with an awful bathroom? The total is above 5. For the amount of money my company throws down at various shindigs this was the worst. i made them aware of it too and we won't be using them again!
