this is a really nice hotel with a boutique-y feel in the heart of downtown, close to dining and shopping. i didn't even know it was a hilton until later. the bar downstairs has interesting drinks (including a bacon old fashioned!) and really yummy calamari.
just a note: the double beds are fairly small. they seemed somewhere in between twin and full size.
great staff, very welcoming and accommodating.

Stayed here on my way through town. Lucked out in getting this place after buying a night's stay on a discount web site. Seems like they've renovated recently. Everything was really nice and it was refreshing to have drawers in a hotel bathroom. Not that we used them, but that just made it feel less like a hotel and more like a temporary home.
The pool was very cool. Stainless steel and the jacuzzi was just hot enough to make you relax, but not too hot.
We didn't really use any of the hotel services, but this place treated us just right and if I had my choice, I'd come back here.

Almost a year later and I was back at the Marquette Hilton. My experience was during the week (rather than a holiday weekend) so it was completely different. I think everyone who was staying there was a business traveler...I guess I was there for business too, but am lucky enough to have a job where I don't put on a suit in the morning like the others.
The service was fabulous, check in very speedy this time, can't beat the downtown location, and my room was spacious. My one complaint was that the gym was undergoing some renovations and closed during the 3 days I was there. They did offer me a discounted pass to the Y, but if you're going to close your gym you should at least be giving away free passes to guests.
Overall, a very nice stay for just over $200/night...

We first ended up at the wrong Hilton (which apparently happens often when 2 Hiltons are 3 blocks… Read more »
I like this hotel better then the other Hilton in town.
It's a good hotel for a business situation and the rooms are really large...but you can tell it was an upgraded dated hotel room.
One great thing is the business center is free....so that's nice that you don't have to pay for using a computer and printing out your boarding pass.
The other thing is that there is a nice 42" flat screen TV - which was wonderful for me while I was Olympics....so it all worked out.

I used to hate hate hate hate hate this hotel because of some prior bad experiences I had here; mainly for the putting me in a room with a twin bed when I specifically reserved a king room. I was livid - that was 3 years ago and they lost a lot of business from me as I travel here every other month since then. I had heard from colleagues that the rooms were remodeled and that they were much better so I decided to give them a try and I have enjoyed my stays ever since. This is my 3rd stay ever since I decided to go back and each time the rooms are nice and HUGE! The beds are comfortable and there is ample work space which is really important. I called down to get an item from housekeeping and it was delivered in a matter of minutes and I do appreciate that.
Room service isn't bad either and now I continue to stay here.

First and foremost, I will say this is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at in MSP. Does this mean you should stay here? Let me put it this way, I have yet to return.
There are a few reasons for this. One is the price. Yes, I am traveling on a corporate expense account. I just feel bad spending $200 plus on a hotel in MSP, when I know there are other hotels in the area that I will be just fine at for less money.
I stayed at this hotel during the coldest night this winter with wind chills in the negative 40's. This being said, I could not get my room to warm up. I double checked all of the windows, kept the shades drawn, but still found the room pretty cold, and I like to keep my rooms in the mid-high 60's. The bathroom was very dated, but there were signs noting that updates were coming in the next few months. The desk was nice and big and great for spreading work out.
The service was great, from the doorman, to the front desk, to the waiter for room service. Everyone seemed genuinely concerned about my experience. The room service was good, but very expensive for what it was.
I only spent one night in this hotel and enjoyed it, even with the cold. I just can't consciously justify it on the expense report.

Great hotel, beautiful rooms with nice views of the city and the in room showers convert to steam rooms. The staff in the Executive Lounge is also great.
The hotel is attached via enclosed walkways to Saks, Nordstroms, etc. Why? Because if you freeze to death before you get back to the hotel you can't pay your bill!

Not horrendous horrendous, but there are so many better options close by, like the Westin, that there's no need to make the mistake of staying here. Seemed like I was walking into a convenience store, not a hotel lobby. Rooms look like staging areas for target furniture collection, with convention-hall carpeting + have lazy-boys in them (which might be good if it were ironic). In an dated office building. Executive lounge happy hour had "pressed ham" in the worst way.
If you do end up having to stay there, the staff is attentive - bringing up a shaving kit right quick in the AM. They also have irons that work well + don't leak - so gratifying if you're doing a quick once-over on an outfit + don't want to spend time blow-drying away the water afterwards.

Overall, I thought the interior (the lobby and elevators in particular) were a bit dated in terms of look and feel. That is my only real complaint, aside from the rate which felt a bit high for a Midwestern downtown hotel.
Now to the good stuff. I love coffee. In my room I had lots of tasty Lavazza coffee, which was a nice touch when working from my room. The TV, bed, and bathroom were both nice as well. The hotel features free wi-fi in most places as well.
I was there in late December and it was cold. There are at least a few great places walking distance from the hotel if you're looking for a drink or a bite to eat. I'd stay here again without question, but saw some room for improvement in terms of updating the interior look and feel.

Beautiful room. First impressions of Minneapolis last a lifetime..So my company put me up here for a two nights. Amazing views of the city and very convenient to downtown night life.
Definitely would stay here again.

This is my favorite Hilton in the United States. It is conveniently located, the rooms are beautifully rehabbed and muy comfy, the food is very, very good, etc. but what makes this Hilton really stand out for me is the staff.
Every Hilton should send their staff to the Marquette to watch and learn - these guys are the best. When you travel as much as I do, you often times see the hotel staff more than your family, so their dispositions & such really matter. This team is the best, best, best. Every person in that hotel has gone above and beyond for me, particularly N. at the front desk - I'd use his full name, but I don't think we are allowed to. I called once from a runway where I had been stuck for hours. I was starving. I was going to arrive after room service had closed. N got me a pizza and placed it in my room for me, so when I arrived at 3am, I could have something to eat! Another time, I was at a different Hilton in MSP (the Marquette was sold out and I didn't pull Diamond privilege, thought I'd try the other one) and was having an awful experience. I called the Marquette, got N. on the line, and at 3 am, he arranged for me to be moved to the Marquette - you cannot beat service like that anywhere! Everyone at the desk is amazing, I could write a book about them, they are incredible!
P. in the executive lounge is the greatest executive lounge host in the US. She remembers your name, your drink, and any details about you that you've shared with her - she's fantastic! HH members - come to MSP just for this reception!!! Great food, top shelf liquor and the friendliest gal in the world - P works like crazy to provide a great experience, don't forget to tip her! The lounge itself is comfortable & convivial with a fantastic view of the city. I always try to time my flights to be here early enough to really enjoy the lounge.
Did I leave anything out? I have no idea...I could go on and on and on....Stay here, you will not regret it!

I stayed at the Marquette Hilton for a conference so I was able to get the Hilton's discounted conference rate. Thank God because there was no way I could afford to stay here for 4 nights. But because of the conference and the Hilton's bizzare booking policy, I couldn't stay here the night I flew into MSP. Not even at the regular room price would they let me book an extra night. Whatever, I just stayed with someone who lived in MSP that night.
The hotel is very nice. I loved the lobby and it's great for conferences with 2 floors of ballrooms and conference rooms. They also have a little convenience shop on the 3rd floor, which was perfect when I didn't have time to grab lunch but I needed a snack. The restaurant in the lobby was also nice, very over-priced so I didn't actually eat there but had a couple drinks at the bar. Check-in was very fast and I got to choose my floor and check out was quick as well. They also have an airline ticket kiosk to print out plane tickets prior to arriving at the airport. They also have an airport shuttle running every 20 minutes but beware, it's costs $16! Thanks, Hilton, for warning me. I could have just taken the train.
And speaking of the train, it doesn't run sometimes. Like on holidays and randomly selected hours during the day.
My room was great, on the 14th floor which had an excellent view of the city. I had 10 pillows. Not sure why, but I had a bunch. Also, the room comes with Lavazza coffee, not the usual crap hotel coffee, which I was totally excited about in the mornings. But I don't know what this crap is about having to pay for internet. What happened to free internet in your room? It costs something ridiculous like $9 an hour. Screw that. Thank God for my iPhone and Panera with it's free wifi. The conference had buffets catered by the Hilton everyday and the food was actually pretty good. I only made it to the dinner buffet on one of the days, but it had a great selection of food. On the top floor is the Concierge Level and it's just a great little lounge with a small bar and buffet-style food and snacks. It was fantastic to sit up there after a long day at the conference, talking with new friends and watching the sun set over Minneapolis. Be sure to check out this spot.
Being located in downtown Minneapolis, there's lots of restaurants and stores around, which was great when I was sick of sitting in the conference and needed to get out. I went in May, so the weather was BEAUTIFUL, but if you go during the winter (Oh, Lord...) no need to worry! Just about all the buildings are connected by the SkyWay so you don't have to walk outside in -40 degree weather.
Located in the Philip Johnson designed IDS Center in downtown Minneapolis is the illustrious Marquette Hotel. This 18 story hotel within the 52 story skyscraper is a place I've always wanted to stay. Right in the heart of Minnepolis, on Nicollet Mall, connected by skyways to Neiman's, Macy's and Sak's (well is now a Sak's Outlet, but it still seems glamorous) and a bevy of fab saloons and eateries. I know there are now higher end digs in town (The Chamber por ejemplo) but this is where Mary Tyler Moore sat in part of the opening credits of the MTM Show. My excitement at that was lost on 24 year old Rickie as he had no idea who she was (cut to me crying in my Geritol). The room was spacious and sooo comfortable with the view I envisioned as a kid. The decor was warm yet contemporary, really not to "hotelly" at all. A curved maple desk anchored one end of the room with the kingsize bed taking center stage. But the full wall, four window view was breathtaking as I gazed over one of America's most beautiful cities. Hmmm, guess I'm a little partial. Parking was $20 a night. Front desk help uber Minnesota friendly. This was a perfect spot for us to start our vacation and to forget the flight from hell...read NorthWORST Airline review below. UFF DA!
