I honestly do love Marmalade! I usually come on weekdays, and it's not usually filled with people, so service is pretty fast. I always get my fix of three cheese raviolis, but their rosemary bread fills me up all the same. However, sometimes the bread isn't as warm as it should.. but that's not that bad.

Overall, a nice place I go back to every once in a while to eat my ravioli. It's not the best place, mind you, but it's decent and the decor is nice, plus the atmosphere is quiet and soothing.

I was going to give it zero stars but the nice ambiance and convenient parking are the only reason it got any.  I used to come here regularly, but the food and service declined so I stopped.  However my mum wished to come here for lunch on New Years Day before a movie.  (Word to the wise.....always go with your first gut instinct).  We entered and were quickly greeted by a non descript hostess and told to walk behind her to a seat.  She showed us to a booth, where the banquette seat had slid forward so my mother could not sit down until it was pushed back into place.  Did our hostess offer to help? Did she move out of the walk way so I could walk to my mothers aid....NO allow a guest, a 70 year old 110lb woman wrestle it back as you stand there holding menus looking bored as if I have pulled you away from your phone and an important Facebook updating session.
Once seated it was 10 min before a waiter came and took out drink order and another 10 before the coffee arrived.  I noted the same lackluster service was running rampant and I had experienced on previous visits.  I noted a new menu, with a few interesting choices and price increases, but still I had been away for a bit, so no issue there.  My mother asked for 2 appetizers to be brought separately and I requested a salmon nicoise salad.  What I received was a bunch of green with a tomato and salmon on top......
Those of us that yelp and are foodies KNOW it needs olives, capers, potato, green beans and occasionally hard boiled egg (as this one advertised).  I am horrified especially since It was $15 for limp green and a small piece of overcooked salmon,  I got up to retrieve a menu to ensure I could point out the error to my waiter (If I ever saw him again, since his visits were infrequent at best).  They must have seen to tall blonde rifling through menus at the hostess stand since magically my waiter appeared.  I explained the issue, he looked perplexed????? As he if could not fathom that I had found out the kitchen secret....!!!!!!!!
Give the unsuspecting customer a salad, lots of dressing, a bit of fish, she will be talking so much, she wont know we are cheating out of half of the ingredients and charging her the same.  OK so here come the cheap apologies and fixes, firstly I am brought out olives in a sauce boat..."What about my other ingredients?"  The manager appears, where I again explain the ingredients missing, more apologies and my salad is taken away, to return 10 MINUTES later with green beans and the olives tossed in,  I ask about the egg......"Oh Sorry we'll  get on that"  Well I pounce on the salad, can't let them run off again with it.  Now they must have alerted the National Guard, every two seconds a busboy or another waiter comes over asking to get more coffee.  Nice, could have done with this earlier.  The manager comes over again to apologize and ask if my egg arrived, it hadn't she hurries off to find it and it returns in a sauce boat.  My mother's food arrives all at once, which she specially requested not to do, but hey I am not too surprised anymore.  A few more coffee refills and apologies and we ask for the bill, $50 for two to have lunch, 2 coffees, a salad (which a production of Hamlet would take less effort) and 2 appetizers, no reduction, no here is a free appetizer for next time, NOTHING......probably better, because there will not be a next time.  F

Marmalade's is a place that over the years is losing attention to detail from become a great place.  The menu is good, food is good, and service is good.  I overlooked the wrong order and slow service today.

They are falling into a rut and this is not the only location I dine.

I hope they turn things around.

May have to start looking for other options.  I have been a long time patron.  Would be a shame.

Large restaurant with large menu.  Tucked nicely into the Pavilion mall.  Has a cute patio area with fountain.  And, huge parking garage.  Good place for a large party with a variety of food.

Overall food is good/average.  I haven't had many things here, but here's a rundown of what I've tried:
    Crab cake appetizer - good
    Quesadilla appetizer - tasty
    Calamari - good
    Ravioli - ok
    Chocolate cake - yum!

This is a great resturant in Palos Verdes for any meal.  It's great for brunch on the weekend or dinner after a movie.  It's always quiet and relaxing and I've never had bad service there.  The menu has become slightly more limited over the years but there's still plenty of great options whatever you're in the mood for.

Don't, repeat don't go here for high tea!

Our tea group was promised a lovely high tea for our holiday event. We chose it because they could seat 20 of us together (most tea houses can't do that).

The sandwiches were served and the bread was dry, feed it to the ducks dry. I could have had croutons for my salad from this bread.

The sandwiches were not only dry with the bread but had no cream cheese, mayo or sauce of any kind on the inside for chicken, salmon, ham or tomato. It felt like they had been sitting out for hours waiting for us. That alone was reason to complain but seeing Tomato and American Cheese slices for a sandwich just made me queasy.

I asked for cream cheese or mayo and received a vat of butter. Ugh.

The second course was the desserts. We wondered if we would be seeing scones during our "high tea". There were a few slices of banana bread, some chocolate chunks of either candy/fudge, some other type of bread and a few chocolate chip cookies. Pitiful display of dessert.

Then when we started to eat the dessert, out came some scones. This sent my table mate through the roof! She would not have had the dessert if she had been served the scone at an appropriate time.

Let me just say, the scones were freshly baked but HUGE. We got 3 for a group of six women and had to cut them in half so everyone could have a portion. It wouldn't have been so bad if we had silverware but we were only given spoons to use. I had to reach over to an empty table to grab some knives/forks/napkins so we could cut them. And there was a whipped cream to put atop and I think a bowl of jam but I never saw it at my end of the group.

The actual tea was your standard tea bag variety pack that they serve to you if you order tea with a meal.  There was nothing to be brewed. The tea was forgettable and the Crate and Barrel tea pots each of us had did not keep the water warm.

We never had our cold water refilled. Only got additional hot water once. Rarely saw a waiter, bus boy or manager. So to wrap up, between the dry sandwiches, the poor service and the complete lack of high tea knowledge by the staff, we were terribly disappointed. The only redeeming value was our gift exchange but that had nothing to do with Marmalade.

I usually love Marmalade's food/service/atmosphere. This soured me on going back to this particular restaurant. El Segundo doesn't do a tea so maybe I'll go there from now on. Be warned.

I know having a table with 25 people on it can be a lot to deal with and I understand that! When coming to Marmalade I loved how cute it was and it seemed just like some cafe that was nice and pretty. I liked the inside decorations with the color, we also got sated pretty quickly.

Since we had a special meal menu made out for us I ordered the salmon, mashed potatoes and green beans. The Salmon had a very thick sauce which tasted very teriyaki. I wasn't really feeling it.  The mashed potatoes were pretty decent and the green beans were alright.

Didn't really get any refills on my drink and felt slightly ignored on the table. But at least we got our meals and it did take a lot of time but it is ok. We still had a fun time. Just the food doesn't have a wow factor of amazing. But it is alright to eat!

I also had dessert which was creme brulee which had a pretty hard shell filled with sugar and the custard was slightly on the warm side but did have an alright flavor.

    - Huge space inside(!) with nice design considering it's in a mall.
    - Pretty presentation with massive portions (went for brunch).
    - Taste is so-so unfortunately.
    - Sure is pretty though.... And they have a full bar too.

It might be the best brunch place in that little area though?

3 things that you must do @ Marmalade:

    1. Sit outside - it's way too dark inside.
    2. grab a beer when its appropriate (after 10am)
    3. order some calamari
    4.  chill

service is friendly and great.  food decent/dependable but nothing worth writing about.  A nice little spot to grab a light dinner and drinks up in PV land...

This is one of my favorite lunch places to go to when I'm out with my mom.

Atmosphere: Cozy and spacious, there is a lot of seating and it's never too busy.

Food: Their House Salad is DELICIOUS - candied walnuts and cranberries, and vinaigrette over lettuce. I usually get their sandwiches, which are always satisfying. A recent discovery is the blackened chicken sandwich; it's full of flavor and spices. I also really like their sweet potato fries. Also, FRESH BAKED SOURDOUGH for starters - so great.

Service/Price: The last time I went, service was unfortunately slow and the waiter messed up my mom's order (luckily we weren't in any hurry).  Prices are a little above average, but doable for the quality of food you get.

    I'd recommend it!

My friend and I stopped here on Labor Day to get a bite before going to the Regal to see a movie.  Only a few tables were occupied; we sat in the bar area because their air conditioning was out of order.  We were even able to order off the Happy Hour menu:  Spinach artichoke dip with homemade potato chips, potstickers and a steamed artichoke were (I think) all five bucks apiece.  I had a ginger ale and my friend had a smoothie which she loved.  The server appeared to be somewhat inexperienced, but we had a good time, enjoyed the food, and the bill was very reasonable.  Yea!

I'm not a huge fan of the Marmalades.  I find them overpriced.  This one has a cute patio and the calamari appetizer is delicious.  The portions are too large for me but there is parking.  The service is a bit slow and my drink could have been better.  It is an overall average place that I probably will not revisit.

I used to not be very fond of this place only going for breakfast with a 2 for 1 coupon and the food wasn't very impressive.

However lately I've gone a few more times for lunch and must say the place is pretty good.

It's a hell of lot busier since they closed down the Marie Calenders in the same Mall and does have a full bar. I know one of the waiters there who is a real cool cat and thus have ventured there recently to sample it's offerings.

The place is not inexpensive, especially for drinks, but the lunch menu is not overly outrageous. My most recent meal was the pastrami on rye sandwich with side and I must say it was very tasty indeed. I was impressed. The bill would not have been too expensive if my date and I hadn't washed our meals down with several drinks and shots which made the total significantly higher than it would have been for just the meals.
It's located right at the beginning on the Mall (Promenade Of The Peninsula) on the north end first floor and besides the multi-level parking structure for the mall has it's own parking lot. They also offer a Sunday brunch and ample outdoor seating.

There's a couple of TVs at the bar and they will put on almost any sporting event you request. If you're in the area give the place a try, it's pretty decent.

I would give Marmalade a 3.5 actually, since the food is usually pretty good.  Whether you order breakfast or lunch, sweet or salty, the food is decently tasty and fresh.  Some of the dishes are actually quite good here, like the cioppino.  The sourdough bread rolls are served warm and soft and go well with everything.

The service is hit or miss though.  The host or hostess is usually a bit slow and usually not very helpful.  Seating at this location is hit or miss too.  The outside patio can be picturesque but freezing, even with the heat lamps surrounding you.  The inside area has claustrophobic dark seating areas that kill the mood of a nice breakfast or brunch.

Marmalade isn't bad most of the time, but it's what I'd consider average and decent.  The food is a sure thing for being pretty good, but the service could kill the whole meal.

I've only been to the Marmalade Cafe once and I can tell you exactly what's wrong with it. The place is too fancy that it presumes to be something bigger than it is. When you see the menu, you realize that the sophistication of the decoration does not match the selection of the food. It seems like the kind of place where rich older ladies go to lunch.

I had the artichoke pasta which in my opinion was really tasty. The balsamic vinegar that was drizzled on top really added to the sauce. However, there were pieces of inedible fuzzy choke in it. Not cool in my book.

I also had the split pea soup. Gross and bland. The tortilla soup was ok, but nothing worth remembering. My water glass was never offered to be refilled either. Overall, not impressed.

I don't know about everyone else, but my experience has always been good. I went here last night for our anniversary (we got a free appetizer or desert from the e-mail club for our anniversary) and everything was great.
Calamari appetizer was very good. Two sauces, sides of lemon, generous portion.
Entrees:Short Ribs and Steak. The shorts ribs were so tender, and steak was absolutely delicious.
Desert: Molten chocolate lava cake. One of the best I have ever tasted.
Service: The steak was actually cooked well done and we had asked for medium-well, the waiter and the manager took care of it, apologized, offered us a free soup, and appetizer, and they kept on checking on us. Our waiter was very attentive.
Drinks: Pirate mojito..woooo....just one was enough!

After receiving a coupon in the mail for a complementary breakfast, my bf and I decided to go on the morning of my birthday - just for the heck of it.

Interior and exterior are quite beautiful, and create for a very warm, comfortable feeling.  Breakfast menu was surprisingly big, and most dishes were about $11.  We ended up ordering egg scrambles (mine came with pancakes, his with toast), and were overall very good.  The warm maple syrup really added a nice touch - otherwise pancakes wouldnt have been that memorable.

Waiter was ok... he came off as trying to be accommodating to our requests (substituting blueberry pancakes in lieu of the chicken I didnt want with my scramble). he said I wouldnt be charged, but actually ended up being charged.  Whatever, no big deal.  It was still a good meal.

One last thing:  the organic coffee they serve is amazing. If you like a bold blend, you're gonna love it!  Yes, its $2.75, but they give you your own little carafe, which is easily more than enough for 2 people.  We didnt want to spend over $5 for coffee, so we ended up sharing; kind of ghetto, but we're glad we did!!

Overall a very nice place...one that you would definitely want to take your mom for mothers day lunch or something like that.
Better meal than what you would get at a diner or pancake house, and about the same price. Definitely worth it.

Restaurant beautifully decorated, very european-like. Our server was extremely polite and helpful with suggestions. Very quiet and relaxing ambiance.  Perhaps it was because I went on a Monday during lunch because I was surprised there was only about 3 other full tables in the whole restaurant. A bit lonely.

My friends and I (all around our early twenties) were by far the youngest patrons in the whole store. Most were friendly seniors at the hour.

Food was OK. We ordered the Asparagus and Cheese Dip appetizer as well as our individual meals. Their homemade potato chips tasted like kettle chips.  My main dish was their Build a burger.  The medium beef was a bit on the tough/ grainy side although the mushrooms were tender.  I guess  the Cajun Dressing I chose just wasn't my flavor and because of that, but my burger remained fairly untouched until I boxed it home.  The salad was very fresh tho as well as their vinegrette dressing.   I guess my order today was not exactly my favorite, so three stars for now... but I'll definitely  go there again to try their pastas.  If I enjoy it more, (which I'm pretty sure I will) another star will be added.

This is a great restaurant tucked away in the Peninsula Shopping Center.  My friend and I arrived around 6:45pm and it wasn't too crowded so we were seated right away.  The decor is really nice and it kind of reminds me of old European, it's really charming.

The menu has a huge selection of items and we deiced to split the artichoke and spinach dip which was great.  My friend got the pork chops with the cinnamon apples, roasted potatoes and veggies...everything was delicious!  I let the waiter choose my dish between a pesto pasta and a Thai pasta but I wouldn't let him tell me which one...I wanted it to be a surprise when he brought it out.  I got the pesto pasta and it was really good.

The service was good though a little slow on the refills.  And our waiter was really cute and had a great personality too :o)  I'm definitely looking forward to coming back here again and trying some more of their menu items!

Marmalade Cafe was a good choice for dinner with *ahem a "friend."  The decor is charming, the lighting dim, and overall a cute place.

Service was good...the staff friendly and attentive.  The food was good, although I only had an appetizer (Oak Grilled Artichoke) and a salad (Santa Fe BBQ Chicken Salad ).  Fresh, crisp, and full of flavor.  YUM!

A cool and relaxed atmosphere added to the overall feel for this place.  I would totally go here again - I have my eye on a chicken dish of theirs.

They have an early bird special on Fridays and Saturdays I believe, and they have 3 entrees..

Sauteed Salmon, Grilled Chicken and Filet Mignon

You can choose one and get a soup and a dessert for around 14 bucks. Its a recession and this is a great deal in this economy!!

I ordered the carrot ginger soup and smoked salmon entree, they were great! Very good quality of spices, herbs, so much flavor and the meat was cooked to perfection!

For dessert there are like 3-4 choices and I ordered the Tiramisu which was very good. It had that mocha, coffee and cakey goodness that top notch Tiramisu dishes typically have.

The Marmalade cafe reminds me a lot of the Cheesecake factory, but less pretentious and more geared towards families. Its more homestyle and less fried food and foo foo bs like the cheesecake factory.

Yay I am a fan of the Marmalade Cafe! When you go ask them about the early bird dinner special! ( and no its not just for senior citizens!)

This small chain is very reminiscent of The Cheesecake Factory.  It is a huge place with a huge menu and huge portions.  The menu features everything you could imagine including appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pastas, chicken, steak, seafood, Mexican food, and so on.  With a menu that big, you pretty much know what to expect.  Nothing really stands out with some dishes better than others.  I had one of their steaks, which was cooked properly; it wasn't anything memorable, but it was okay.

The dining room was comfortable, and the service was quite accommodating for a large group.  Marmalade Cafe's prices are higher than your average chain restaurant but may be slightly lower than The Cheesecake Factory.  I don't know how this location compares with other Marmalade Cafes (I've only been to this one in Rolling Hills).  Overall, it is probably 2.5 stars.

I'm torn giving this place two stars but it's what I have to do.

I'm going to start with service. Our server was great! Attentive but not bothersome, good personality and prompt.

Food was average. Their special promotion turned out to be a bust and unfortunately Mark went for it and got hosed /: He started off with the lobster bisque though and was quite impressed with the amount of lobster in the soup so that was good.

Now to the hosed part...He ordered the king crab legs and steak (steak was over coked) and got what looked like hermit crab legs (they were snow crab legs). King crab legs are huge and these were teeny tiny. And what was more sad than the advertised special was that the staff (manager included) had no clue that they were serving the wrong type of crab. There is no way you can pass off snow crab legs for king crab legs. Haven't they seen deadliest Catch? King crabs that aren't "king" enough are sent back and not even caught!
Although the manager did say that she thought they looked small and that she would tell the director of operations.

My sandwich (blackened chicken) and sweet potato fries were good. I liked the chipotle aioli that was served with the spf a lot. I started with split pea soup and that was tasty. Mom got some seafood thing that was a huge portion and she seemed to enjoy it. She will have leftovers for days.

I would definitely go back for the service but not the food. And I don't really know how that is possible so I'm sad to say that I will probably not return ):

This is the most attractive of all the locations, I think.  (There are 7 in the L.A. vicinity.)   Like the others, this location has plenty of outdoor patio seating.  The interior is country French decor with crystal chandeliers.  It could have been a little more well-lighted.......I like to read when I eat alone & it was a struggle.   So.....all I had on my first visit was a scrambled egg (the portion looked more like 5 eggs, served luke warm) with cottage cheese and coffee (organic & very good).  The service could not have been friendlier or more attentive.

The menu lists about 10 pages of choices for breakfast, lunch & dinner.  They also do catering.  A sign in the bar advertised  happy hour with appetizers.  Not much here not to like.

While the service is good here, thats about the only thing I liked. This place used to be better. But my recent brunch experience was less than good. Food took forever and when it did finally arrive, it was luke warm at best.

The Juevos Rancheros at iHop is better. The french toast did not come with the powedered sugar, bananas and strawberries as noted on the menu and it was slapped right on top of the Rancheros instead of being on a separate plate. The blue berry pancake was not appetizing at all.

Coffee and service were great. I would give it 1 star if not for the fact that I have had a better experience there before.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on a Sunday.  I was surprised that the place was almost empty. We elected to sit on the patio as the weather was nice. There were only two other tables occupied.

We both ordered a hefeweizen beer.  It was just OK and the glass could have been colder.  They definitely excel with he food however.  We started with a grilled artichoke, it was excellent.  I had the chicken curry salad (half order) and my wife ordered the seared ahi wrap.  We both thought our meals were very good.

The artichoke arrived quickly and our main course arrived right after we finished the artichoke.  The service was good, but could have been a little more attentive considering the place was not that busy.  Prices are not cheap, but not outrageous.

I would definitely go back. I would really like to have dinner on the patio on a warm summer evening.

Not a bad place to go on a date or to just enjoy a good dinner.  I used to go here for lunch and dinner alot but have only been there a few times for dinner lately.

The dinner specials are good and as i mostly share when i go out the portions are enough for two.   The desserts are also pretty good, i went there for dinner on valentines day and our dessert was shaped like a heart. And it was pretty good. I do remember that the breakfast wasn't that good though and that's why i never went back for it.

The service leaves something to be desired but for the most part a good experience. I like getting the raspberry spritzer when i go, its pretty refreshing ;-).

I gave this place a try once with friends, and, well, I've definitely experienced better.

My friends and I decided to sit outside and enjoy lunch in the sun, which was nice.

The food, though, is the most important thing...and I have to say that my friends and I just did not enjoy what we had. :(

During my brief foray living in Rancho Palos Verdes, a couple friends visited and we decided to give Marmalade Cafe a try.  Unfortunately, we got there about 15 minutes too late for breakfast, which is supposed to be pretty good, and instead got stuck with lunch, which is not good.  The lunch menu was very limited and while there seemed to be an attempt to make it "interesting", we found it a clear miss on appetizing.

It was also a Sunday, so there were only two other heathens in the place besides ourselves (because apparently everyone in PV goes to church). Despite the emptiness, service was slow.  As expected, the food was weird--not in a good way--strange flavor combinations that didn't work together, and of course prices were on the high side.  Definitely avoid lunch here!

I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner here. I prefer their breakfast over their lunch or dinner. I think they have quite an extensive breakfast menu with all kinds of breakfast dishes. Whenever I want to go out for brunch and stay local, I always come here.

They have your typical continental breakfast to Portabella Benedict to Egg White Frittata with Fresh Garden Vegetables. If you want a breakfast that is filling or a breakfast that is light and healthy, Marmalade Cafe has everything you want. I have tried their Three Ranch Eggs & Meat, Tortilla Scramble, Egg White Frittata with Fresh Garden Vegetables, and their Italian Omelet. All of them were very good. The only thing I would probably not get is the Three Ranch Eggs & Meat because it was A LOT of food and I was so full, I thought I had to get rolled out of the restaurant.

Sometimes, if you go there really early, it's nice and quite with not a lot of people. The service is nice and friendly. Like I said, whenever I want to go out and have some brunch with my mom or with my girlfriends and stay local, I always come here. There is always sometimes I want!

Happy hour, Happy Hour, happy Hour (3:30pm to 6:30pm, M-F). I do like my microbrew beer. Finding Pyramid's Hefeweizen on tap down in LA is not difficult, but not common either. At Marmalade Cafe, they have got $2.00 Pyramid Hefeweizen on tap! (it's called haywire these days, and trust me, this is a good deal). I'm usually the youngest person at the bar section (average age there is probably around 55, when it's not empty), but the bartenders and the constant sports on the TV make it pleasant. I get what one bartender calls the "breakfast of champions" (4 hefeweizens and some good hot wings). Hot wings, along with the other  appetizers, are half-off during happy hour. the only draw back is that i can't usually make it by 6:30pm after work...

A Cheap place (price range is under 10 dollars as i note) but mind you that is for happy hour, and depending on how much you drink, it could go above ten dollars, like for me... lol... But one appetizer and a beer costs under ten dollars!

Went there with a good friend (girl night) this Friday.

Food was great.  Loccation and parking were great.

We were greeted  by a very pleasant hostess and seated in an area we requested.  We made reservations but may not have needed them as it did not look like there was a huge wait.

Ordered wine and starters came quickly.  Wine was great.  Service was wonderful- non-intrusive and non-bothering.

Dinner was wonderful.  They have an extensive menu and I am excited to go back and try something new.

Recommend highly.  Had a great time and it's reasonably proied.

I've been here twice so far and although the decour is nice and the prices are reasonable, the food doesn't meet expecations. It's good but doesn't knock my socks off. Service was average but not bad. It beats Mimi's Cafe but I could probably guide you to a better place in the area. In the end, not bad.

Not many choices on the hill.  Marmalade Cafe is great when there are no other choices in Palos Verdes.  You need to know what to order but food is good.  Breakfast is the best.

All the menu items seeemed healthy; mostly steamed or seared. Not a lot of  fried food, which was nice. The place is huge. Its  like a place you would find in Vegas, except its in a mall. A great restaurant with tasty  fresh food and decent service.

OK, so we went back to give Marmalade another whirl.  It seems they listened to my suggestions  and had the butter out on the table so it was easy to spread, the server was attentive and helpful.  Everything was brought out in a timely manner and was nice and hot (or cold if it was supposed to be like that).  I would definitely go back.
