You cannot go wrong with Markos. It's my first choice if I ever want to go out to eat or meet with friends. I love introducing them to this place. Located right down the street from Crazy Burger. Great food. Great vibe. Can't go wrong with any items on the menu. Especially recommend the chef's specials. I personally love the Mussaka. The Shish-Kabobs are seasoned and with the right marinade then cooked to your liking. Their wraps are a treasured staple -- one of the best is the French Fries gyro. I doubted it at first because it just sounds odd. But it was so tasty that I often go for that one instead of the usual meat ones. It's got a nice blend of potato and pickles/relish to cut the grease. They are home-cut fries, which makes it even tastier. There is a live mandolin player one night during the week. Outside tables are awesome in the summer and very cozy in the winter.

This place is small and with a simple menu, but the food is real.
Okay so it has been a few years since I last dined in Greece or anywhere in the Mediterranean...okay like 16 years. But still, I found this food to have the flavors I remember and there sampler appetizer meant I could try a lot without ordering tonnes of food.
I don't eat dairy and there was still loads to choose from and there portions were massive (I would have happily paid the same for half as much food).
This is my first time at a BYOB and I was pleased to see that the server still did uncorked my bottle and topped off our glasses as needed.
I recommend asking the server about the dishes I found our to be very helpful. Also if you are feeling daring end the night with their turkish coffee....and yes, that sediment at the bottom of the espresso sized cup is supposed to be there.
Great place to have a mellow meal after a day a the beach or an evening trip to watch the waves. -

the food here is fantastic. the service is really nothing special and a bit awkward. the decor is pretty much nonexistent. ugly paint job. middle eastern artifacts scattered about. very strange atmosphere. but who cares about that kind of thing when you're getting an amazing meal. all the soups are fantastic, great apps. i would get an entree as opposed to a wrap. you can get wraps like those anywhere. small dining room though. my suggestion is if you're waiting an hour and a half for crazy burger, go here instead.

Markos .. what a great little find! I feel like this place is off the beaten track especially if your a tourist in the area or even if your a summertime regular. I'm so glad I did my legwork on Yelp before heading down to my beach house this weekend and even more thrilled that I came across Markos.
First and foremost we got to sit outside so that started my dining situation off on the right foot.
For an appetizer we got the Vegetarian Appetizer Sampler: Hummus, spicy hummus, tzatziki, roasted eggplant dip, falafel, tabouleh, & stuffed grape leaves. Served w/cucumber, tomato, & a basket of bread. All of this was great, I thought the hummus was a little salty though. The eggplant dip was my favorite. There was three of us so this, and we ordered this sampler for 2 and it was just enough food.
For entrees, my dad got the Caribbean Kabob: Chicken marinated in jerk spices and finished with an island sauce. I had a small bite, full of flavor and according to my mom, it's the best chicken she has EVER had. That's saying a lot!!
My mom had the Salam Alaykum: Falafel with the works: lettuce, tomato, pickles, cucumber, tabouleh, feta cheese, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, and tzatziki. Aka the kitchen sink, full of goodness! She was kind enough to share with me a few bites and it was delicious.
I had the Foule: fava beans, chickpeas, or both, served warm & topped with a tahini sauce, cumin, tabouleh, and olive oil. I of course got both types of beans. I love tahini so this dish was great for me, because there was a ton of tahini on top! It was a very filling dish and it comes with some pitas as well.
I've got to admit the falafel isn't as flavorful here as it is at Pick Pockets, but still good. Overall the meal was delicious and we of course had to get some Baklava to finish off our meal. It's a good size dessert, enough to satisfy your sweet tooth. You've got to try it, its a little finger roll of sweetness!
Also this place is BYOB so you can't really go wrong there. The service was very attentive and took good care of it. It does look somewhat like a hole in the wall if you're just passing by but don't let it fool you! -

I got 2 orders of their famous fries to take home & warm up to have with some fish I was frying up. I was talking with the girl I put the order with over the phone about how much I love them....went to pick them up & again was talking them up, they are delicious!
I get home with a very limited # of fries....
1 container had like none in it, not even enough to cover the bottom of the container.... the other had maybe a handful more. For the $8.61 I paid for the 2 orders, I felt totally ripped off. I have gotten them with Shsih Kabob and have gotten more.....
I am really sad about this, I love Markos, but this kinda makes me not want to go back anytime soon :(1 Previous Review: Show all »

Really delicious Middle Eastern Food! Narragansett lacks Restaurants that have different cuisines mainly because it is a seasonal town where people come in the summer to enjoy the many beaches. It seems though that a few trickle in like Marko's. It is small but cheery and is on Boon street which seems to be cultivating a small center for galleries.
Right down the street from The Wall and Crazy Burger this little gem is in what looks like an old beach cottage. The chef cooks a wonderful Turkish Lamajeen definitely try it. He will come out sometimes and ask how you are enjoying the food. The hummus is wonderful and I plan on getting the Moussaka next time. It is BYOB but I don't usually drink so I've never taken advantage of that policy.Listed in: Narragansett Places, South County

I feel like this is a secret on a few people and I know about. BYOB. Has the best falafel I've ever had. Hummus is the beat. They seem to do a big take out business. It's hidden on Boon St, but challenge yourself and find it. Eat Near East and your soul will thank you.

Good food complemented by excellent tzatziki, hummus and middle eastern style hot sauce. Very good lentil soup and excellent baklava. My husband and I got take-out from here two nights out of our week long stay.

We came here for lunch and dinner on the same day and I couldn't have been happier about it. Falafel and lentil soup lunch, huge sampler dinner.
I had slight beef with the presence of lettuce in their Greek salad but it was still good. Perhaps not an authentic Greek salad, but delicious nonetheless. I really enjoyed their hummus and baba ghanouj and their falafel balls were incredible. -

We seem to be blessed with near/middle eastern places in South County, with International Pockets at URI and Pick Pockets in Wakefield, but for informal-but-not-fast-food eating, Markos is different.
"Authentic tastes of the Near East and Beyond."
I had a cool Gazpacho to start and a Gyro/Falafel combo wrap, which was great. My wife had a chef' special dinner that was a very unique spiced meat wrapped in eggplant on rice.
The best part was desert. She had a cardamom coffee and I an Arabic coffee, which was strong and spiced. We split an orange blossom baklava which was wonderful.
She eats there more often that I do, but it is definitely one for the list for me now as well. -

Had dinner here last weekend and it was AMAZING. we started with a mixed app plate of hummus, falafel, grape leaves, tabouleh, and baba. Man oh man! SOOOOO good. For my Entree I had the Artichoke Salad, which was HUGE and only like 7.95! I had to take 1/2 of it home, it made a nice breakfast the next day. The dressing, was evoo, lemon, and garlic. Simple, but perfect. The owner, Marko came out to say hi to us. He is very sweet. I hope this place cranks this summer. Its reallllly good food!
Oh and did I mention its BYOB! Hell yeah! -

Highly recommend this place!
I was visiting Narragansett and craving ethnic food, and this was close to the mother-in-law's house.
My husband and I picked up some baba ganoush, dolmas, chicken wraps, and lamb/beef kebab wraps.
Yum! The baba ganoush was lemony and a bit darker than usual (maybe was roasted?), and the dolmas were fresh. The wraps had crunchy romaine and kebab meat well seasoned.
The only regret I had was that I forgot to ask for their house made hot sauce. :(
The restaurant quickly packed up our to-go order, but they also had a small, cute dining room for a full meal as well. -

I have eaten at Markos twice in the last week and feel compelled to update to a 5 star review. Man, this place just has it going on for food and service. On my last visit I have the shrimp kabob and it was so good and so affordable. The preceding apps were awesome- hummus, calamari, falafel (shared by 4)... just yummy. Nice service. The place was busy and the servers on were moving hard to keep up. The owner came out to walk around the dining room and ask everyone how everything was. Awesome little restaurant!

We happened to find this place via Yelp on New Year's Day when they were having their New Year's all-you-can-eat buffet. The food was outstanding--the best near Eastern food I've ever had. All fresh, perfectly seasoned, and delicious. A nice touch was the chef/owner offering fresh veal kabobs tableside while we were eating. Highly recommended!

My wife and I ate at Markos again over the weekend, and I have to upgrade my review to five stars. The appetizer sampler was delicious, with its hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, and stuffed grape leaves. The place is BYOB, so make sure you show up with your own booze. If not, you'll have to run down to Pier Liquors down the street, like I did.

We went to eat here based on the Yelp reviews and boy were the other reviewers dead on!. Between the 8 of us, we had many falafels, a bean dish, lamb kebobs and schwarmas and none disappointed - even a little! We took our 4 kids and made them eat from the menu (no mac n cheese were we going to accept) and they all loved their dinners
