The bear claws here are to die for. Milk chocolate is my favorite, but they also come in dark and white chocolate. The homemade caramel is so smooth and creamy and the pecans are so fresh. And the best part is you can order on line when you get back home. You don't need to wait for vacation time to get more!
Small little candy store on Market Street, in the long row of art and souvenir shops. The free sample signs and the lure of air conditioning pulled us inside. We ended up buying a bunch of taffy in tons of flavors (yay for coconut!). I think they may have been 10 cents a piece. All the chocolate looked fabulous but we behaved and didn't buy any on this trip. The fourth star was for the service, everyone working there was very friendly. You can pick up a catalog at the register for mail orders.
Ok, this was the BEST place to get Charleston famous pralines. holy cow - were they good. I even tried the other places, but this is where it was at. The smell of all the fresh candies filled the air as soon as you walked past this place. By the end of my trip to Charleston, they literally knew my face. Definitely worth the calories.
