I was very pleasantly surprised! First of all, you are eating at a restaurant within the hotel so the prices are automatically steeper than anywhere else. So let's get that out of the way. I came here for breakfast and lunch over my 4 day stay at the Lowe's Coronado Hotel.
I ordered the two egg breakfast with hash browns, bacon, and toast. The eggs were wonderfully fluffy and the hash browns cooked to perfection. For lunch I had the grilled yellow tail tacos. There were three small, but stuffed, fish tacos. The yellow tail was cooked nicely and it was accompanied by a toasted serrano pepper that was very hot and yum. I did not expect such good food from a hotel restaurant.
The service was top notch both times and the outdoor seating overlooks a marina so the views were nice. Since Lowe's is a dog friendly place you are allowed to bring your dog to the outdoor seating area. -

The quality of their Sunday buffet has gone from very good to extremely bad. The economy has hit this place hard. What used to be the best Sunday brunch buffet in San Diego is now history. No more peel-and-eat shrimp, carving station, sushi station, pasta station, etc.... But shamelessly they kept the price the same, a whopping $38. I was shocked and disappointed when I saw the limited options. They do have fish burritos though. I tried it and the fish had the toughest texture one can imagine. Please don't come here for the Sunday buffet, go to their poolside cafe, it is more reasonable. A zero star for this joint!

For a hotel restaurant, this is an OK place. It's expensive for what it is, but it's not bad. We came here one nice post conference set-up, just to relax and catch a bite, and then again for breakfast the next morning.
My dinner was a piece of halibut with arugula and hen of the woods mushrooms. I love hen of the woods mushroom, but these...honestly didn't taste to me much like actual hen of the woods mushrooms. The halibut itself was good, although not as good as what I can get in Seattle, and had a very light seasoned crust. All in all, tasty, but really nothing mind blowing. A little pricey, as halibut always seems to be.
Breakfast was a buffet. Price comparable to the individual items I could have selected from the menu, and included coffee and juice, which was nice. Several people had decent omelettes, I stick with fruit and cereal...so I didn't get my money's worth, but whatever. I like that sort of thing.
A couple other notes - when we arrived on Sunday, we tried to get a late lunch here, only to find that they were still only serving champagne brunch for $38. Uh, no thanks. And secondly, they have "lobster corndogs" which are basically chunks of lobster tail, drizzled in butter and fried in a sweet cornmeal batter. Not bad, but pretty much everyone agreed that they'd rather just eat that much lobster.
Service at dinner was a bit slow, and it was all a little pricey, as I mentioned. To be totally honest, while it wasn't bad, I think you could do better for less money nearby. The question is whether or not you've got a car, as a cab or shuttle might add more expense or inconvenience. -

We were staying at Loews and needed a quick bite for dinner since it was late and it was not bad. We had prawns and classic meatloaf with asparagus and it was not bad for a hotel. Meat loaf had gravy on top with mashed potatoes as well. Prawn had a salad with it with Giant sized prawns. The food had good size portions and everything tasted fresh but I was not wowed at all. Service was super quick and they brought us out some bread that was really good and fresh. Menu has tons of choices from wine to main dishes. Prices were average priced for dinner. If you don't want to drive to downtown this is not a bad option for one night.

Wow. A two-and-a-half hour lunch, with no explanations and no apologies. And you still bill yourself as a "conference hotel?" I don't think so.
For the past several years, I've attended a winter convention down in Coronado. The weather is usually great, and downtown Coronado has some real gems, but when you're stuck in the hotel for work with no time to cab it in, you end up with lunch at the Market Cafe. I suppose, that is, if you're lucky.
I was late to join my group of five at the cafe, and settled in to my seat around 12:45 (the rest of my party was seated at 12:15). They had put in an order for me, but as 1:15 rolled around we worried that our server had forgotten us, and asked another wait-person about our food. I think it was about 1:25 that we were served.
The food was okay. I had the fish tacos, which would have been fine had the fish not been ridiculously overcooked. I also only "kind of" get that the tiny side of guacamole costs extra. At nearly $14 for 3 tacos, I think a little avocado should be included.
As we watched the restaurant clear out, we anxiously awaited our check. Our server did come back to help clear the table (circa 2:15), and when we asked for the bill said he'd, "be right back." Uffda. We got up to go to the host stand at 2:30, at which point he came out of the back with our checks. Again, no apologies, no explanation.
So here's a tip, Loew's: when you're hosting a conference where people have limited breaks, make sure to serve a snappy lunch. I can deal with hotel food, but not when it's served under these conditions.Listed in: On the Road..., Duds

Good food and great service, but pricey for what it is (expected at a resort). We had 3 breakfasts and 1 dinner here during our stay, and all was good. We also stayed at the Marriott in Coronado, and this place beats their food hands down.

Mediocre food mixed with terrible service. Ordering from the menu takes forever and the staff isn't very attentive. A waitress asked if I needed another plate and I told her I did not. She gave me one anyway. This made me feel like she was my mother, and dampened the party mood my table had going.
The only fairly decent quality this place has going is their breakfast buffet. There are plenty of options. All of which were tasty. Yes, I ate everything! Food coma nap was necessary post-brunch, but it was worth it. If I could rate the buffet itself separately, I'd give it 4 stars. -

They made some sort of mistake with 4 of the 6 meals we were served (stuff missing, eggs way overdone). The waiter did an excellent job handling the kitchen's mistake. He also was nice about pointing out the auto-tip because of our larger sized group and in general gave us excellent service.
Food was decent, but overpriced. The French toast is especially delicious. The omelettes were cooked so much they were dried out.
Would not return here so am limited to two stars. -

If you happen to be staying at the Loews Coronado and do not want to venture out into San Diego for a meal, you will find something to satisfy your food craving here. We had a late bite here. I ordered the lobster salad, and the wife ordered the BBQ chicken 3 course special. Having sampled both, I can say that they did hit the spot. They did not overwhelm my taste buds, but the meal was good. It seemed a bit high priced for what was delivered, but the Loews knows that they have a captive audience and they can charge what they want. All in all, I would only eat here if it was too late to visit another restaurant in San Diego. If you have the time, go elsewhere into the city to find fine dining. You will NOT get a lot of bang for your buck here.

Stopped into the market cafe while staying at the Loews for a couple of quick grab breakfast items before embarking on my groups Sea World visit.
As most hotel cafes' I'm accustom to pay a slightly higher price for the usual fruit, cottage cheese, coffee, etc. The Market Cafe was no exception in price, but definitely hit the spot when it came to my quick breakfast fix. If you find yourself at the Loews on a time restriction this is your best bet. -

As we recently stayed at Loew's this was an obviously place for us to eat. We had both our 1st and last meal of our vacation here. The fish tacos were delicious and my husband tried a burger. We also had their Sunday brunch. $17 each sounds like a lot, but compared to their regular menu it was a great deal. There was SO MUCH selection, that I was quite sad I couldn't eat another plate or two of food.

Can I give a 1/2 star?
The Market Cafe, Loews Coronado Bay Resort
I was really hoping for a nice brunch place to go, and thought that perhaps that Loews could provide, I was very wrong.
Brunch here straight up sucks - big time. Where is the FOOD? I go to the buffet table and didn't find much food at all.
One pan of soggy French toast, another with some scrambled eggs, one for over cooked bacon, and the last one for sausages, pretty meager for a "resort class" place.
I was pissed that I wasted my time driving there and having to put up with the BS attitude from most of the staff.
Save your bucks and eat anywhere else but this place. -

I had brunch here inside Loews Coronado resort and was quite impressed! Yes the scenery was very pleasant and all but the food was surprisingly good! Even the breakfast basics like scrambled eggs and bacon which often come out tasting bland at breakfast buffets were really delicious. I went back for seconds of the fresh fruit crepe, the cheese plate and the eggs. Plus the mimosas kept being refilled with a hefty pour of champagne which makes Michelle a very happy girl.
I think it was around $28 per person for the brunch and mimosas and I think it was worth every penny (and I am cheap when it comes to eating out). -

Ok, so my family and I longed for the return of the wonderfully delicious Loew's Market Cafe Sunday Brunch. . . .the brunch of 2004. Loew's took it away, changed it to breakfast only (blah) and we never returned.
Alas! The return of Loew's Sunday Brunch. Now it goes by the title: Blues, Brews & BBQ. Free flowing Karl Strauss beer, barbeque, champagne, & blues band playing while you dine. Sounds heavenly right? Unfortunately the food is very mediocre and is less to be desired. The oysters were nice, as was the carnitas/pulled-pork, but that was about it. The ribs were a bit chewy and the bbq beans were too salty.
It's a shame, because we had such high hopes. Total let down. Save the $38 and go to the remarkably fabulous Fontainbleau Room at the Westgate downtown for an extra couple bucks. Well worth the money.
Good luck, -

My wife and I took her mother out to Brunch for her birthday. We heard good things about the brunch at Loews so we thought we would give it a shot.
First, it's not cheap, ($38 per person) but I'm willing to pay for a superior brunch...that's not what we got.
The food was above-average, there were some interesting menu items. That was the only thing that was good.
The service was awful, after 15 minutes of empty glasses I had to practically tackle a server to get the table the FIRST glass of champagne, a practice I repeated several times throughout the meal whenever our glasses got empty.
We had a stack of dirty plates that just sat on the table, no one would bus the tables.
When I brought up both of these things to the manager, he seemed to have a casual attitude, offered us nothing as compensation and the poor service continued.
The venue is average at best, you have to fight through a crowd of people huddled around their coffee counter to even get into the restaurant and the patio tables all had a lovely view of the parking lot.
Parking is a challenge.
Don't waste your time with this brunch. -

My wife and I decided we deserved a treat to brunch @ Market this past Sunday with some friends. I looked up the menu and saw the price of $38 per person. I'm a cheapskate so I was kinda put back due to the price. I rarely treat my wife so I said why not the menu looked great. The drive to the resort was really pretty, but kinda out of the way. The only parking was at the resort and of course they charged. So right away I was kinda aggravated. The service was great, but I thought the food was average at best almost not good. Even the desserts were so so. The main highlight was The French Toast. It was outta this world. I was upset that the waiter didn't tell us that the French Toast was extra. So all in all it was $200 for the four of us. So if you go just get the French Toast for $10 and skip the brunch. The band was ok by the way.
