I love the concept of this place. The produce is fresh and very inexpensive for the most part. My two complaints are that the flowers they sell are overpriced (my bouquets cost $6-10 at the little italy farmers vs $10-15 here) and they still seem to be operating on a cash only system which is tough in the age of plastic.
The owners are incredibly friendly and I love having a place like this in the neighborhood.
Added bonus, their smoothies are delicious! -

After a half day of walking around downtown, and needing something semi sweet on a hot day, we stopped in Market 32 to try out an Acai smoothie, and let me tell you it was probably the worst tasting drink I've ever had in my life.
Don't get me wrong, I love Acai, but whatever they are using here is flavorless. I basically paid five dollars for something that tasted like watered down apple juice. So disappointed.
The selection of produce is also not that impressive, and the prices, as expected are way too high.Listed in: Downtown Livin

Please don't let the three stars fool you - this place should be 5 stars. Its going to take some adjustment by both them and the community.
The acai bowl they prepare alone is worth more than 5 stars. I could eat it for breakfast everyday, and have it for dessert after every meal. When it comes to that area of the market, I am enamored with it and am so very happy to have it in the neighborhood.
I wish, I wish, I wish so bad that they had fresher produce on a more consistent basis. I'm no horticulturist, but I think maybe the unforgiving afternoon sun that penetrates the floor-to-ceiling windows accelerates the wilting and rotting of the produce they have on display. Or maybe, just maybe, this is YOUR fault, my fellow East Villagers. Maybe you should come in and buy your produce from them instead of getting lesser quality for more money at Albertson's while better produce languishes in the crates at Market 32. That way they can turn over their inventory more quickly and everybody would be happy, especially me. -

Yuma + Fresh Produce + Great Prices = Market 32!
I couldn't believe that East Village was actually going to get a produce market. This this is something straight out of Europe, NY, or any other established city that views it an abomination to buy produce at anywhere other than one of these spots. I now opine the same.
If you are anywhere in the area, or live in downtown for that matter, this is where you need to buy all your fruit & green needs. Matt & the crew are friendly and helpful, and the store is clean & bright. And as I mentioned, the prices are great!
Asparagus: $1.25 / bundle
Navels: $1 / lb.
Lettuce: $0.85 / head
...and the list goes on.

Could I be turning into a rabbit? It could be the proximity to Easter or the fact that I now have access to the tastiest freshest produce in San Diego just a couple of blocks from my condo...and I'm a little giddy about it! I will not wax poetic about the virtues of fresh asparagus, or the flavors in a sweet juicy tangerine, or the beauty of a perfect green onion, I will just encourage everyone to try this place--it really is that good! The prices are excellent and the staff is friendly and helpful, and vegetables are cool again!
And yes, if you do finish your veggies, cruise over here for one of the acai bowls...they are divine!Listed in: My Neighborhood

I really, really want to like this place. I really, really want this place to succeed. So here's hoping that what I saw there today on my first visit was an anomaly. Way too much of the produce was clearly past it's prime: wilted lettuce, floppy asparagus, wrinkly bell peppers. Maybe the heat wave had taken a toll.
I'll give it another try. And then another, 'cause I really, really, really want to like this place. -

East Village has a fresh produce market, YAY! It's a tiny little place but it's full of fresh produce with a variety of fresh bread from Bread on Market. The prices are cheap and they have just about every seasonal fruit and vegetable available, flowers and nuts...just picture a fruit/veggie stand-- but indoors. The guys running the market are super friendly and knowledgable.
Ok, so the very best part - excellent ACAI BOWLS!!! I've been waiting for a place in EV that offers these tasty treats. They also offer fresh fruit SMOOOOTHIES!! Thank you market 32! -

Great fruit, great prices. Don't go to the super market ever again! You will over pay and not taste the deliciousness that this place is serving up.

Previously the Mondo's Baja Mexican restaurant was located here. I do miss me some quick Mexican food, that's for sure, but it's good to see something else spring up in downtown, especially in the East Village. They have pretty good selection of fruits, vegetables, dried goods, and nuts. I was disappointed at the fact that a number of the produce, particularly the fruit, was not fresh and at its last few days. I did find some bananas, blood oranges, and apples I liked, however. This is the area they need to improve, the freshness of some of their goods.
I think their dried goods, nuts, trail mixes, smoothies, and acai bowls will be there main draw here going forward. They have a nice selection and all are reasonably priced.
Overall I think this place is a great value, and I'm hoping the not-so-fresh produce on my first visit was just an anomaly.
FYI, it did not look like they accepted credit cards, but there was an atm machine inside. -

This market is amazing it is so great to have somewhere to shop nearby other than the chain stores like Albertsons! The fruit and veg is all very fresh and they have homemade baked goods on sale that are all organic! The Cinnamon Rolls are the best I have ever tasted!

This place went out of business.
I walked by today (18 Jan 2010) and saw the "for lease" sign in the window. It must be hard to keep a business afloat on this corner - the taco shop that was here before Market 32 also stayed in business for only a few months. -

I saw the review on http://NBCSanDiego.com and that got me curious. I recognized the address and thought there was a taco shop there. The tacos are gone and have been replaced with incredible fresh fruits and vegetables. I have now been there several times and am hooked on the Acai Bowl. It is made fresh and each one is handcrafted. It makes a great brunch/lunch and gives you the energy to make it through the day. The guys are great and friendly. Be careful because the Hot Tamales and Trail Mix are addicting! When you are downtown this spot is a must.

I really like this small produce market. Their selection is small, but expected since they aren't a grocery store. I will definitely be coming here to buy the basics, everything I saw looked fresh and good quality. Nice to have a place like this in the neighborhood!

Walked on down to the get some "fresh yummy produce" at this cute little Market 32 I'd been hearing about. Nope! This is a disaster. The concept is sooooo great, but the place was really disappointing. Super loud bad music playing - so loud that if the guy said hello to me I couldn't have heard it. They weren't very friendly to say the least. The produce was ok - some of it looked old, the strawberries were way past gone, the flowers looked dead, some scary looking vegan cinnamon roll things were hideous. I did go fairly early in the morning (9:30ish) so in their defense maybe they were waiting for the fresh new harvest to arrive?? There was nothing out of the ordinary (as far as produce goes) I had such high hopes! Can they get it together? I hope so. Otherwise, I give them 2 months. You'll have to sell a whole lot of heads of wilted lettuce to cover your pricey downtown rent... please prove me wrong!
