First of all let me say that Mark is amazing with animals. My oldest cat is terminally ill and I wanted some good shots of him while he still looked gorgeous. Normally, Sebastian (my cat) doesn't like strangers. He, in particular, doesn't like male strangers. He took to Mark right off the bat, all my pets did. They were all extremely interested in his camera equipment, what he was doing crawling around the floor with them, and he just had that vibe. A cat whisperer if you would. So I was thrilled that Sebastian not only didn't go hide in the closet but wanted to be near Mark.
One of the best things Mark did was to just let Sebastian go do his own thing then Mark would follow and take a picture. Pretty soon it was obvious that Sebastian was showing off for Mark which was pretty hilarious. Mark got beautiful shots that totally captured Sebastian and his personality. Not only that but if I had booked him for and if he had had the time my other cats would have gladly done their best catwalk poses for him. As it was they were getting a bit jealous of the time Mark was spending photographing Sebastian.
I'm not ready to lose Sebastian and I never will be but Mark gave me the peace of mind of knowing I'd always have photographs of Bash that captured him and his essence. Having that is priceless.

I've been wanting to post about Mark Roger's Photography for some time now, and as conflicted as I feel about it, I do feel that I need to be honest and frank about our experience.  I bought a voucher for a $69 photoshoot with Mark for my 3 year old mid sized dog.  We decided on a shoot in november to do it, location to be in his backyard.  Now I take the whole voucher-deal pretty seriously... and I do expect service/products that I buy through them to be close to the quality provided for their regular clients.  Mark is an extremely charismatic and upbeat person... as soon as we arrived he greeted us warmly, offered us drinks, and got to know our dog.  The whole time he was very professional, and made the photoshoot fun and comfortable for us.  I guess my disappointment was in the actual photos that were shown to us through his web gallery a week or two later.  They were of good quality, nicely touched up, and of course our dog looked great, but they weren't very unique.  Most of the shots were of my dog looking straight into the camera, either lying down or sitting.  We had a couple of outfits that we brought with us, so some pictures were of him in it.... but they weren't overly impressive.  I think perhaps I set my expectations too high, due to the fact that his website has a ton of amazing pictures of his past shoots with other dogs...  many of them are extremely unique, with cool angles, and catching the dogs in mid action...etc etc.  I was surprised that with so much creativity on his website, the only things we were able to do with my dog was sit and lay positions.  And it's not like my dog doesn't know how to pose... we could've definitely tried different things!  Anyway, all in all, Mark is a great person, with a lot of personality for sure, but the pictures that we took that day... I felt... were pictures I could've easily taken on my own in my own backyard.  If I were to recommend Mark to another client, I would probably tell them to pay the full price, go to another location, and to come up with their own ideas before the shoot.

What better way to spend a sunny Saturday than watching your beloved furry friend strut his stuff for one of the best pet photographers in the Bay area. I signed up for the MyMutt program the Pet Food Express store in Burlingame and was told I'd be working with photographer Mark Rogers. Stocked with cameras/lenses galore, Mark arrived with enthusiasm and preparation. He absolutely knows how to handle animals and I was very impressed by his patience.

My kitty, Mikey Valentine, isn't the most outgoing of cats but he isn't necessarily skiddish or "scaredy" either. During the shoot he was most often roaming around the room or rolling on his back at awkward angles in an effort to find an escape from the closed off room. Regardless, Mark captured some beautiful shots of Mikey in the few moments we had him still, bathing, or distracted

I highly recommend utilizing his talent to capture the essence of your precious pet(s)! You won't regret it. In fact, I'm so satisfied with the shoot that I plan on purchasing a couple of the shots for keepsakes of my own.

Mark shot spectacular photos of our wedding, and skillfully blended in the live-action moments with the staged shots he took before the service.

He was not intrusive at all, but he still managed to capture all the key moments.  His greatest photographs were the informal pictures of guests chatting, dancing, and enjoying themselves at the reception.

    Thanks, Mark!

Mark did a fantastic job. Our dog is of course the best looking one on his site now... lucky him!!! In all seriousness... Mark was friendly, professional and prompt. He made Champ feel comfortable and they got along great. Mark really got down on his level (literally!) The shots came out great and we ordered a ton!

Thanks again Mark! Job well done.

Mark is a great photographer and extremely patient. He photographed our blind kitty Koko for Pet Food Express to highlight Nine Lives Foundation in Redwood City. Since our cat is blind you can imagine that the clicking noise of the camera was a bit scary. Mark spent time with him, playing and laying on the floor. Koko became  so comfortable that he let Mark come extremely close to his face for his close ups!
We have three other cats that were also trying to get Mark's attention. He  was able to capture Koko's personality in the photos.  I would highly recommend Mark for taking photos of your pets, children and events. He is responsive and professional.

    My 200th review!!
Ive been thinking long and hard about who to yelp for my 200th review, and Mark definitely deserves it!

I haven't hired Mark yet.. I have however seen his great work, and Ive also spoken to him a couple of times about a photo session for my Bella Valentine. He spent time going over different pricing packages, and even packages that were especially designed for clients on a "budget." I originally wanted too book Mark for my dogs 3rd birthday. She is after all the apple of my eye. I have pictures of her everywhere! Mark's work would of been a great addition to our home decor. After discussing the price with my husband, he surprised me with a new camera.. Which basically means I shouldn't hire Mark, at least for the time being. My husband is not as.. dramatic? as I am when it comes to Bella. He doesn't even believe in celebrating Bella's birthday with balloons and doggy cake! What kind of Mom would I be?!! Anyways, Mark followed up with me about a week after our conversation and even gave me pointers about my new camera and taking great pictures.. Which really says alot about his character. I will def hire Mark at a later time.. In the meantime if your are looking for a genuinely nice, talented photographer look no further!

Hopefully I can work this camera so I can make the most of the "gift" my husband gave me. Until next time Yelpers!!

So. I am not much of a poster but I did feel compelled to write something about my experience with Mark Rogers, which was absolutely exceptional.

Our dog had passed away last year and we lamented (after the fact) that we never had any really great pictures of him that showed his personality. When we got our two new mini dachshunds I hired Mark from a referral of a colleague whose rescue bunny had been photographed by Mark for a Pet Food Express poster (in Castro - bunny is named Sterling).

He came to our home to do a shoot of our two pups and our two kitties who managed to slink in front of Mark's camera as much as possible.

We have used several photographers in the past few years for various events and I must say that Mark truly captures his subjects flawlessly. He was laying on the floor in our house and outside trying to get the best angle since our two dogs are so close to the ground with their short legs!

The shots he ended up with are fantastic and I covered an entire wall with framed images as well as sent 200 holiday cards through his photo card service.  We will definitely be hiring Mark again.

The pictures he took of my two little guys are priceless......it is so funny how you can see the facial expressions of your dog in a photo and feel like you know what they were thinking at that moment.  For a person who adores her pets, Mark was the perfect choice to capture them in print.

Mark is a fantastic photographer. If you want to really capture the finest qualities of your four-legged baby, call Mark. He's patient, professional, and extemely talented.
I hired him on a couple occassions at my doggie daycare, K9 Playtime, the best doggie daycare and boarding in San Francisco (that would be called a "plug"). My clients absolutely loved their photo's.  His specialty is capturing that little expression, or active moment, that only a patient and skilled professional can capture.
I was so impressed with Mark's professionalism and skill, that I hired him for my wedding last summer. He did a spectacular job for us. And he didn't even make us chase and catch a ball!
If you're in the market for a photographer, especially a pet photographer, hire Mark!

Mark is a great photographer and that's all there is to it. He photographed our city hall wedding the pictures came out perfect. When I was looking for a photographer, I came across his website and noticed how great he was at photographing pets. Do you know how hard it is to get a good picture of a movable pet? You can't exactly say "tilt your head a little to the left." It just doesn't work. If he can get great pictures of pets in a natural setting, then he surely can take great wedding pictures. And he did just that for me.

Anyone who knows me thinks it's very fitting that I used a Pet Photographer for my wedding.  I do have a dog and wanted him to be in some of my wedding shots, but mostly I came to Mark because I liked him and remembered him saying that he enjoyed working non-conventional weddings.  We wanted to document our big day, but didn't want the photo session to take over our schedule.  Mark gave us exactly what we needed and we were really happy with the results.  Best of all, he was just fun to have around and made everyone feel really comfortable.

Mark's photographs have a beautiful, easy and natural, look to them. He takes candid photographs rather than staged photos.  I met him at a business expo and was quite impressed at that time but after the photo shoot I wanted to tell everyone I know about him.  He is polite, professional and delightful.  Most of all, he was so patient working with my dog.  I have a dog so afraid of cameras she really gave Mark one of his greatest challenges.  He spent ample time with her, just trying to make her feel comfortable...and me too. I was nervous that he would be frustrated with her because she will hide, run, look away and actively avoid a camera and the person holding the camera - even from far away!  Regardless, he was very loving to my very fearful dog.

Mark has a great eye and a gentle way with dogs (and people too).

I can't tell you how happy I am with the results of the photographs -- they're just beautiful, and everyone who has seen the prints is amazed by the emotions he captured.

Mark has an amazing ability to get dogs (and cats) to show their souls through the pictures. I highly recommend you call Mark! You won't regret it!

Mark completely captured the spirit of both pets. Max, my four-year-old English Springer, has boundless energy and an amazing number of facial expressions. Mark created a tri-panel series of photos of Max are priceless - from his 'huh, what?' expression to his 'I so couldn't be happier' grin. The photos he took of Samantha, my cat, are absolutely beautiful - she's pretty shy so it wasn't an easy job. Mark is great to work with - he builds an easy rapport with pets and their people and brings a lot of integrity to his work. He's gifted.

Mark has been great. After I learned about how generously he donates his services to the SF SPCA, I booked a session with him last week, to take photos of my golden retriever for this year's holiday cards. We shot at his wonderfully inviting home, which has a beautifully landscaped backyard. Mark's wife was so welcoming as well - - it felt very personal. Mark is friendly, professional, and has a very warm presence with animals, clearly putting them at ease. The session was relaxed and highly productive. He produced the gallery very quickly, in less than a week. And he had very good recommendations about services for printing cards. In the selection process, he was helpful without being heavy-handed. He was very responsive to my preference and produced the final files within days. I highly recommend him, without reservation. You'll be really happy with your results.

Mark came over to take photos as part of the MyMutt charitable giving program sponsored by Pet Food Express.  The thing that impressed me most about Mark was that he took his time to get just the right shot of our two cats, Peanut and Coconut.  He spent over an hour, crawling on our floor to get just the right shots of our cats.

We are pleased with the overall results and would recommend him to anyone looking for a good pet photographer.  You might see our pictures over at the store in Daly City soon.  Thanks, Mark!

To be honest, I never thought anyone would be able to well capture my girls- two insane and energy-riddled Italian Greyhounds. I love them desperately, but all my photos of them revealed small streaks, or just a tail as they galloped through the frame. So when I won a gift certificate for Mark Rogers at a fund raiser (the very fabulous Junior League Fashion Show!), I had pretty low expectations.

    Boy was I wrong.

Now only was Mark able to capture their energy and playfulness at the beach, but he also came back for a second session (no additional charge!) at our home, where he assumed the role of Dog Whisperer and convinced the little beasts to sit still- a feat generally only achieved for seconds and with a lot of bribery.

The results? GORGEOUS. From the blush of pink across their noses to the graceful arc of their leaps, he got it all. Some of the shots are hilarious, some loving, some showing the natural elegance of the breed, but all are outstanding. Mark also took the time to get the photos re-printed when he wasn't perfectly happy with the color. He really cares about the finished product, and the satisfaction of his clients (including the pups).

It took me almost a year to frame wedding photos, but I put up the portraits of the girls the day Mark dropped them off.

Mark Rogers took some damn good photos of my two little wiggle-butt doggies. It can be so hard to capture BOTH of them looking perfect at the exact same time. But, this guy was devoted and diligent. His photography is stunning and artistic.
PLUS, he donates his time and expertise to local animal rescue groups, what a stand up guy. Really, if you want to support any local photographer, he is the one. I highly highly recommend him!

Mark just completed a photo shoot involving our two Shih Tzus, one Moluccan Cockatoo, and three strong-minded cats. His ability to capture candid shots is amazing and he does so with the patience of a Zen Master. It's hard to describe but he becomes one with the pet for the minutes that he is working with them. The quality of the photos is outstanding and what I like best is that the photos make me admire even more the special qualities of my pets. With his techniques, super cameras, and patience, he manages to capture their spirit and essence. I've already asked Mark to help me give a surprise gift of a photo session to a good friend of ours with the biggest German Shepherd in the world. And I can hardly wait to tell that friend!

A friend gave me a "My Mutts" poster at Pet Food Express for my birthday. While I was thrilled at the concept of having my girls up for everybody to admire, I knew that getting the two of them together in a single frame was going to be difficult. The younger of the two is undersocialized and scared of many things.

Our first location was the beach. Mark came up to the girls and instantly was able to make them comfortable with him and his equipment. He got some absolutely amazing photos there, but none that I thought were what I was looking for as a poster. Mark suggested a reshoot in a friend's lovely back yard. Once again, the girls were instantly comfortable with him and he worked so patiently with them getting the absolute perfect photo.

The results are here. Judge for yourself!

Between chasing after his favorite ball and running and splashing around at the beach, my dog Riley is hard to keep up with.  Would it be possible to capture him in a snapshot of time while he is bouncing around and around?  Not only was Mark able to photograph Riley in motion, but he had an incredible knack for being able to capture EXACTLY what Riley was experiencing in the moment:  steady concentration right before he nails the ball in the air, incredible pride when he catches it and absolute joy and freedom running from the sand to the water and back with that crazed "I AM SO HAPPY!" and "IS THERE NOTHING BETTER THAN THIS?" look on his face.  Mark's photos illuminate the dog we know and love and literally freeze all those great expressions on Riley's face that make us laugh, marvel and so enjoy on a daily basis.

Aside from Mark's obvious talents, he deeply cares about what he is doing and about the quality of his work.  It was a great joy to work with him and his number one goal is to please his client and do whatever it takes to reach that goal.  I have recommended him over and over to all my friends.  Mark is the consummate pro and a nice guy while doing it all!

We've used Mark several years in a row to photograph our dog and do our family holiday photo.  Can't say enough good things about him.  We have a family of 5 and an active big dog.  The photo shoot has been at an out-of-doors location.   With all tlhe commotion and activity, Mark is patient, creative, friendly, easygoing, all the while getting in some great photos.  When we get the proofs, it's so hard to select the best as there are so many good photos.  Mark is helpful, talented and is very easy to work with.

Mark came over to take some pictures of my rabbit, Etta, who has a lot of energy and personality.  I was worried that the photo session may not go as smooth, but it turned out to be great.  It's as if Mark knows how to communicate with animals.  During the photo session, my rabbit felt so comfortable, and started cleaning her feet/fur and totally being her usual-self.  And... the pictures turn out to be AMAZING.  I was blown away by the beauty and subtle details he captured in each shot.  Thank you, Mark.
