We met Mark when we first decided to look at buying a condo and went to a bunch of open houses, both to look at the properties and to "audition" real estate agents. While there were some realtors who were pleasant enough, Mark took the extra time to talk to us about buildings in the area, trends in the market, etc. without ever seeming pushy or too slick.
We ended up falling in love with a unit that we found on our own, but we are first time buyers in CA (apparently being a homeowner twice over in another state isn't enough - you're still a novice home buyer when you're in CA) and knew we wanted representation. We decided on Mark based on his record in the area and our experience with him.
Boy, are we glad. Even though we had the unit picked out and it's a pretty new building, we definitely needed guidance from Mark about the buying process, fees, negotiating points, etc. He was able to deliver and helped us pay much less than we were originally thinking we would.
I would highly recommend Mark! -

Mark is, above all, efficient, honest and knowledgeable. If you are looking for a real-estate agent who will look out for you and help you get the best deal, period, I would highly recommend Mark.
As many reviewers have mentioned, Mark's speciality is the SOMA/South Beach area. When we approached Mark as first-time home buyers in the beginning of 2009, he listened carefully to what we were looking for (2BR, located in SOMA, ocean view, and affordable), and he immediately pointed us to The Infinity early in the process, which saved us a lot of time. Right off the bat, Mark was realistic about what we could buy the condo for. We put in an offer at just the right time, when the market was still down and prices were low. Mark got us one of the steepest discounts in Tower 2.
Mark really knows his market, and is always up-to-date on the latest deals. He pointed us to The Infinity at just the right time in the market, and before all the 2BRs with ocean views had been sold. He is very honest, down-to-earth, and frank in his opinions about the pros and cons of a given building or deal. I never felt like he tried to sugercoat anything just to pressure us into buying a condo we didn't want.
Ultimately, Mark is the kind of real-estate agent that most buyers are looking for: frank, honest, and knowledgeable, and efficient at getting the best deal for this clients. I wold highly recommend Mark to anyone looking to buy in SOMA/South Beach area. -

I'm pretty sure my boyfriend and my decision to buy a condo together could be categorized as "whirlwind," and one of the smartest choices we made during the process was to choose Mark as our agent. We wanted to find someone who was extremely knowledgeable, accessible, honest and not one bit snooty--Mark fit the bill and then some.
Right off bat, Mark gave us an honest estimate of what he thought we could get our condo for. It was right within our range and not what we had expected just based on visiting the sales office on our own. I truly doubt we would have taken the plunge if we didn't tap into Mark's knowledge. But Mark's help didn't end there; throughout the buying process he walked us through the system and was always available to answer questions over phone, email or text messaging (that's why he carries two phones with him all the time!). He never gave us any pressure to buy; in fact, he always suggested that we look around and know what our other options were, just in case. And he always referred to things in personal terms, like "us" and "our offer"... maybe it's a real estate agent tactic, but it works!
In the end we made out like bandits with a sweet deal of a home thanks to Mark. I'm very happy with the experience! -

The Bottom Line: Mark Choey was able to negotiate a phenomenal deal for us - a deal we didn't think possible!!!
Throughout our home buying journey Mark was always by our side. He provided us his candid opinions on different properties, explained the future outlook of the housing market, and always promptly answered our numerous questions and concerns. As mentioned above, when we finally made an offer, Mark was able to negotiate an exceptional deal! In addition, Mark went beyond his role as a real estate agent as he also provided us advice on breaking a rental lease, recommended an insurance agent and internet/cable company, and suggested contractors (for upgrades, i.e. such as blinds).
If you're looking for a real estate agent call Mark Choey! He's very knowable about of the South Beach/SOMA real estate market, extremely professional, easy to get along with, and a go-getter! There's no question to why Mark is a top producer. Thanks for all your hard work, Mark! -

Like the other reviewers have mentioned, Mark is an excellent real agent that specialzes in the SOMA/South Beach area. We utilized Mark's service when we sold out condo (@ 88 Townsend) in October. Prior to listing officially on MLS, Mark provided a thorough overview of market conditions and brought in a number of resources (including the opinions of other top agents from his firm) to provide us the best insight on pricing our home. In addition, he had an eye for staging us with 'just the right amount' of our own furnishings. His co's website provdied a great marketing platform for our home's listing and his vast network of contacts within the industry provided us a large base of potential clients to view our open house.
Speaking of open houses, we listed our home on a Friday, had the first open house that Sunday, and had an offer the next day! After only 72 hours on MLS, we accepted an offer to our liking!!! 72 freakin' hours?!!?!?! The process was so quick!!!! And in this market.. wow!
I would confidently recommend Mark (for buyers/sellers), as I think his services for the SOMA/South Beach is second to none! -

I was looking for 5 things in a real estate agent:
1. someone who knows the neighborhood I was looking to buy in (SOMA, South Beach)
2. someone who took the time to understand what I was looking for
3. someone that has resources and connections (e.g. mortgage bankers, general contractors, etc.) that can help you pre- and post- purchase
4. someone that is good at negotiations
5. someone with integrity that I could trust
Mark is best in class in all of those requirements. I had a very positive experience working with Mark and I would work with him again to buy or sell any property.
I was looking to buy a place in the SOMA/South Beach area and I asked several of my friends for recommendations. One gave a strong recommendation for Mark and after speaking with several agents I felt like Mark understood what I was looking for--a unique loft property in SOMA. Over several weeks, Mark and I looked at several places and I ultimately ended up buying the first unit he showed me. In addition, Mark was very resourceful during the closing process helping me line up different financing options which is important in the current market. I would highly recommend Mark to anyone looking to buy or sell in SF. -

Mark helped me move into the Infinity June 2009. To date, I still feel that Mark got me as good a deal as anyone in the development.
His dedication to me as a client is incomparable. Even for someone that does real estate consulting as a living, engaging Mark was a wise decision on my part, made me feel at ease through the process and felt like he had my back the entire way!

Mark was there for my husband and me when we were nervous yet excited to buy our first home, but more importantly, he really pulled through or rather pulled us through while we were selling our home the following year when we needed to relocate out of state. We were scared that we would lose money because of the depressed housing market/ economy but I swear as nervous as we were, we listened to everything Mark advised us to do. He really made us feel confident. He was really calm and professional and we ended up making money on our property. Now we are moving back with our little girl and I am so glad that Mark is assisting us. We plan on buying in a year but mark has answered all of questions about neighborhoods, schools and kid friendly areas. Trust me I call him on a whim and he never cares. He is awesome.

Mark is very knowlegeble of the SF real estate market. My wife and I relied on him to sell our condo at a very turbulent time in the real estate market.
His advise on timing and pricing were spot-on and the result was a sale that, in my opion, was stellar. Thanks Mark.
Oh by the way, we got more than what we were asking for and it sold in a week and a half. -

Mark is someone I trust and would recommend to my friends without hesitation. Throughout our buying process, Mark was not only knowledgeable, professional, but also forthright and best of all, patient. As first time home buyers, Mark walked us through all the complexities and we felt totally supported during the entire process. Mark is a great agent. Along with all the previous praise, Mark is always available, and ready to help out. He is always reachable, and is ready to get things completed. He even spoke to me while on vacation in Hawaii!!!

I found Mark through a mutual connection at Stanford when looking to purchase in mid-2009. I ended up getting exactly the property I wanted at a price that surprised both of us. One of the keys to that was smart negotiation made possible by Mark's experience and his handle on timely market information. He also went the extra mile in helping me do due diligence by getting me in touch with the developer.
